Making your own games

I'm working on making quality games from using these programs,

DarkBASIC
FPS Creator
3D Gamemaker

I'm not using dark basic at the moment, but i am using gamemaker right now and fps creator to make some cool games. Quality games say in the range of some of those top pc games that exist.

How is it possible? Well you can import any type of data or file that you want, which makes everything simple and quick.

Yall should check it out.

And? Anyhow I guess I can advertise M.U.G.E.N engine which really kicks ass when it comes to making to 2D fighting games. Pity I don't see anything that should provoke discussion, guess nobody is making anything.

My Mugen game looks like this:

If any one feels like making a realy stupid 2D game, e-mail me or PM me or w/e and we can discuss the details.

I used mugen back in the day, made 4 fighting games, but got rid of mugen and the games once i came across a program called: 2d fighter.

Its a million times better, and if you want it, let me know. :) :edgarrock:

Gee, I never heard about this "2d fighter" could you post some info, screenshots, whatever... as this sounds interesting.

Ahh, I just stick to Flash MX or Swish Max. They seem to work really well for me although i'ma newb at Flash MX and i'm not doing to bad with Swish (Basically a different version of Flash MX).

anyone uses rpgmaker? I have tried that program once... I guess I'm not good enough to handle scripting and programmer logic. :(

MysteryRidah Apr 7, 2006 10:07 PM

eriol: I have the RPG Maker XP, havent used it yet, but it looks easy.

WooshaQ: I will post up the program in the " other request " section soon.

I've had a few friends who've used RPG maker to make a few little games. I'm told it has some limitations that keep them from making things the way they want.

MysteryRidah Apr 9, 2006 02:43 AM

I think rpg maker xp , you can import whatever you want, so what are these limitations?

Dark Nation Apr 9, 2006 05:42 AM

I once did a game demo for a story in RPG 2K3, but I never got around to remaking it better in RMXP >_>

Right now I'm making a Side-Scroller Shooter for my college class using Flash 8.
If it comes out well I'll post it here for all to play when I'm done with it.

Sounds cool. I love playing some of the top flash games.

Azral Apr 12, 2006 01:21 PM

I'm using Rpg maker XP right now... the limitations are really heavy on the programming side. They lay the ground work for you and all you have to do is write story and import content.

I tend to prefer game engines like Unreal Engine, Dark Basic, Toque, and Wild Tangent... many more options.

although I haven't touched Dark Basic in years... did they ever update it with a visual interface? cuz that would rock.

Dark Nation Apr 12, 2006 02:39 PM

Azral - That reminds me, I got around 60-70% done with a Balamb Garden level for UT2K4, but It fell apart with clipping issues. I should try and remake it someday.

Lizardcommando Apr 12, 2006 07:48 PM

I've made some games on RPG Maker 2k3. It sucked ass though :p. I do have some resources from it. If anyone asks, I'll post them up.

I've been trying to make games in Flash MX, but the closest thing to fully functioning game I've handcoded is this crappy shooting gallery type game. Yeah, I know I forgot to import the HTML file for that game...

Does anyone have a copy of 3D Gamemaker they don't mind sharing?

Eleo May 3, 2006 06:30 PM

I find that none of these programs are worth the trouble. At this point I think I'd rather program a game in a real language. There's way more documentation for what you're doing in that case, too.

It takes absolutely forever, though. That's why people resort to these game makers. Plus, I always seem to hit a wall at some point where I can't work out how to codify what I want the game to do. Then I sort of just give up.
