Movie quality is pixely now
I just formatted my computer a while ago and all that jazz. Before my movies (both real movies [like .avi DivX, .mpg] and anime [.ogm, .mkv, etc]) used to play fine and were sharp and crisp. Now, they are all pixely, and I don't know why. I forget what codec pack I was using before, but I've tried the Community Codec Pack and XP Codec Pack, I'll give K-Lite Codec Pack another try, but not sure if that is going to help. I'm playing my movies through Media Player Classic. And these aren't low-quality files either, some of them are even DVD rips. I don't know what the problem is or how to fix it, does anyone have any ideas? An example of the pixelyness:

Make sure you've got your color resolution to 32-bit, I dunno http://imagesocket.com/images/emot_confusedfe9.gif |
Man, everytime I try to change my color quality to 32-bit, as soon as I hit the apply or ok button, my computer restarts, and now I can't change any of the display settings. WTF? This has happened to my computer before, but I forgot how it happens or how to fix it. Fuck.

Try to get the most recent graphics drivers for your computer? I can't really think of much beyond that or a decoder problem.
If you want to, try using VLC to play back your movies and see if the result is any better? |
Awesome, I was able to change to 32-bit color after updating the drivers (which took forever to find the update to on their website, I got an old ATI Radeon video card). Everything is back to normal, sharp and crystal clear. Thanks for all your help, Duminas and Merv.
