Hey, that's awesome! I hope you enough friends to invite, you wouldn't want to waste an opportunity like that.

Identity Crisis Aug 18, 2006 09:46 AM

Amazing!

Wow, you'll be getting a really early glimpse at the Wii (around two months). I certainly hope three hours is enough to play all of those exclusive games at the party. Your friends must be stoked about this. Are there any friends you haven't told yet, and, if so, do you plan on suprising them?

Congrats!

TheReverend Aug 18, 2006 09:59 AM

Lucky bastard.

Jealous of you liek waht.

shadowlink56 Aug 18, 2006 11:02 AM

I have a great demographic, as Nintendo is after non-gamers and their normal fanbase alike.
I still have several people to try to get ahold of.

galen Aug 18, 2006 11:39 AM

Hey, I live in Denver...

FatsDomino Aug 18, 2006 03:51 PM

Oh that's pretty cool, dude! =D

Glad to see Nintendo is taking initiative to spred Wii around too. This will hopefully spread some really awesome word of mouth around. =)

scotty Aug 18, 2006 04:12 PM

wow congratulations, maybe they will give you a free wii :)

Gechmir Aug 18, 2006 04:38 PM

A Wii Ambassador. Dude, that hardly sounds cool or flattering in the least ;_;

So is there anything else to it other than "LOVE ME?" or is this justa ChocoJournal entry gone public?

I'm interested to know...what there is to discuss.

Vulpes_Callidus Aug 19, 2006 06:38 AM

Funny how it's only in the Gamingforce boards will you find people who genuinely like to ruin people's fun.

Give him a break man. It's not like this is spam or anything. Sometimes small talk is good too. Let him have his fun in the sun, it's a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Just say "grats" and have it over with. If you don't think he deserves one, then don't give him one. Simple as that. No need to overdramatize it any more than it really is.

As for me, congrats, Shadowlink56. Sounds really cool. Hell, if this isn't news, albeit somewhat small, I don't know what is. I didn't even know Nintendo had Wii Ambassadors.

shadowlink56 Aug 19, 2006 02:33 PM

^ Correct attitude, and thank you. Hey, you live in Colorado?

Well, I bet you are really familiar with the forums after 50 or so posts.

...

I've been around Gamingforce since when they still hosted Video Game Soundtracks on their site. Ask a "veteran" how long it's been since then. I can only say that it has been years past.

I'm sure you know good and well that there is something called a "lurker." Type "define: lurker" into the Google search bar. Most prominently, the definitions are in similar nature to the following:

"Slang term for someone who regularly reads newsgroup, BBS, or mailing list discussions, but rarely participates in them."

I think I fall nicely into that category.

And to shadowlink56, if your asking me whether I live in Colorado, I do not. If you were asking me, I appreciate the offer though.

Lukage Aug 20, 2006 03:04 AM

Well Mr. Vet, you may know that he's some ambassador and it means he gets to have a little party with games. The end.

And knowing that, you'd know it's best to be kept in the Journal as there's no real discussion about it.

"I got a puppy."
"Congrats"
"'grats"
"Yay puppies"
"Congrats"
"I love puppies"

etc. There's little to discuss, especially when he says that he can't talk about it all.

Aardark Aug 20, 2006 03:45 AM

Let's chill out now; there's nothing wrong with this thread, aside from the fact that shadowlink gave a link to some other board, instead of just putting the info here (it would be cool if you could put the whole story in the first post, shadowlink).

Oh I'm sorry, he wasn't ruining his fun.

Sorry about that.

I don't understand why I need to repeat myself.

Pez Aug 20, 2006 07:53 AM

What a great opportunity!

I expect to stumble across this sort of stuff on something like Joystiq. Still, the important thing is that this means there will be other Wii ambassadors for other parts of the US, and possibly even the rest of the world. If word of this gets out you can bet Nintendo will be flooded with appications of interest.

shadowlink56 Aug 20, 2006 05:41 PM

Sorry to cause such a raucus. All the other forums seem to be taking it better though . . . good ol' GFF.
Anyway, here's the post for those of you too lazy to click a link:

Finally I can tell you all what my big news is!
After the interview on Redwolf's blog site VC&G, th internet picked it up and put the story in its proverbial whirlwind. Somehow, that whirlwind reached Nintendo.
Nintendo tried to find me and contact me about a unique opportunity. Unfortunately, there was more than one Brett Martin in Colorado. The wife of that Brett Martin that Nintendo apparently called posted a comment on the original article (you can go see it there now) in an effort to let me know that Nintendo was trying to contact me.
This is about where I freaked out, but it only got better.
I posted a comment that they could contact me easily through this site. You may notice a forums member named wybes here. That was how she got my email.
Then it happened. I got an email in my gmail account from Nintendo.
NINTENDO MAN! They said simply that they had an interesting opportunity for me.
I emailed them back saying I was very interested, naturally.
I got into contact with Megan from Nintendo, and she told me what it was.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What Megan told me blew my mind. She said that they are looking for something called "Wii Ambassadors", and she wanted me to be one. What it entails has been very secretive and all of the details still aren't hammered out yet. Here's what Megan told me that day: They're looking for people to host parties with Wiis in many cities all over the USA.
The party will have six Wiis, and will supposedly showcase the games that were available at E3 for 30-35 of my friends.

MAN I wish you guys lived closer!

Anyway, they can't tell me which games will be there, but Megan told me Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess, Warioware Smooth Moves, and some others from E3 will be present. This is so far unconfirmed by any othe source, but I'll take her word for it.

Still, this phone call was a giant tease because I wasn't a confirmed Ambassador . . . yet. A couple weeks later, after much deliberation apparently, I was selected. I couldn't tell you the overwhelming joy that came over me. But I couldn't tell anybody!!! AAAAGH!

Megan told me when she called me to told me I was selected that I now have a new contact with Nintendo. Her name is Catherine, and she just called me. I asked if I could tell you guys and she said yes. So here we are!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All the details I know:

When: September 22nd, 7pm-10pm.
Where: Undisclosed location in Denver. It's SO secretive and awesome! I email them a list of invitees' emails, and they send official invites from Nintendo and me! Then, they have to call in and RSVP. The night of the party, we will receive text messages of a parking lot to meet in in Denver. From there, we will all be put in a van and taken to the real location, which will be "not what I expect" as Catherine told me.
What: Six Wiis will be brought to the party and many games. They're even providing refreshments! Coolest gaming event of my life!
Why: All because of my collection. It's finally working for me instead of vice-versa!
Who: I was told that Megan and Catherine will be there, along with several other Nintendo reps that will be guarding the Wiis or something. Catherine will be snapping pics, so expect a pic barrage here or somewhere on the site Sept. 23rd!

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I also have something phenomenal going on at the forums. I invited my friend NESVIDIOT from Canada whom I met over forums. He has cancer, and we have a fund going on my site trying to get him here for the party. He has no idea how long he has to live, and says that this would be a terrific opportunity for him should the worst happen.
Thanks in advance for all of those who have a few extra dollars and a strong and good heart!

Basil Aug 20, 2006 07:19 PM

As I said before, major congratulations. I'm Admiral Treecko at the message board shadowlink linked to.

To some of the perople in this thread: In most cases personal stuff like this would go into a Journal. But this is the Wii Ambassador of Colorado we're talking about. Doesn't that sound like an important position to be in?

Aside from the jealousy brought to you from hearing about how he's going to a party, I think it's perfectly fine.

So does this mean you're out of the gameripping business for a while? :(
