Stuttering mouse
I'm using a Logitech G5 (USB) and my mouse seems to stutter across the screen when I move it at a reasonable slow pace. This seems very wrong considering it's a 2000dpi mouse and is running at a steady report rate of 500MHz.
I've tried using other mice, including an mx518 and wireless V200. What up. |
Perhaps you're using a USB2.0 mouse on a USB1.1 or USB1.0 port?
|
I double-checked to make sure. No USB1.1 on this beast.

Blow the dust (or cat hair as is the case in my house) away from the laser. Problem solved.

Mouse pad issues?
|
It doesn't seem to be that either. I'm using a gaming mouse pad but I've tried books, desktop, random junk and it's all the same.
Also, I haven't installed the shitty SetPoint drivers that come with Logitech mice. Would that make a difference? I mean.. the mouse is taking full advantage of the bandwidth it was designed for. Also doubtfully thinking.. could it be my CPU is too slow to keep up? I've got a Athlon XP 3200+ and running at 1280x1024. |
Do you have acceleration set weird in the mouse settings? I know with my logitech, I can set acceleration to high levels which would probably give "stuttering" when trying to move at slow speeds. Since your hand is not perfect in its pacing, the mouse can sense the different pacings and the assigned acceleration could move the mouse faster in some cases that it shouldn't.
Basically, try turning off acceleration and see if it still "stutters". |
I would try installing the drivers that came with the mouse instead of using the plug-n-play feature in Windows. If that doesn't work the only other thing I can think of his dust or hair in the way of the laser like Arainach said.
