What do you put in your cereal?

so I'm eating breakfast right now and I have two boxes of cereal. One box of cereal was apple jacks and it only filled half of the bowl so I opened up coco pebbles and filled the rest. Then to put in a little more flavor I sliced up a banana and put it in. Not the best combo but it sure tasted good. I would have loved it with strawberries but I didn't have any.
What are some of your special cereal ingredients.

I put milk and bananas in my Cheerios. It's pretty tasty.

If I ever eat cereal, I just have it plain. I hate having milk in cereal. It just makes them too soggy for me. Blah. It's fine already right outside of the box!

NovaX Aug 17, 2006 08:17 AM

Weet-bix isn't the most exciting of cereals so I only really add milk and occasionally sugar for taste.

Identity Crisis Aug 17, 2006 08:35 AM

Just recently, I had a bowl of Wheaties with some milk (2% for anyone keeping score or something) and sliced strawberries. It's not exactly original, but it does keep me going until lunch.

Rockgamer Aug 17, 2006 08:51 AM

I hate adding extra things to my cereal, so I'll just eat it with milk and sometimes sugar if the cereal isn't naturally sweet (like regular Cheerios or Corn Flakes). I'm also not too big on mixing cereals, and I only do it as a last resort (like if there's nothing else breakfast-like to eat at the time, and all I have left is two almost empty boxes of cereal).

Adara Aug 17, 2006 11:27 AM

I add a palmful of sliced almonds to my cereal every morning. If I'm not too tired, I'll also add some sliced banana and strawberries (if I have any). As for milk, I just use whatever is in the fridge (usually 2%).

I remember back in high school, there were some girls that put fruit yogurt in their cereal instead of milk. I've never tried it, but it sounds interesting.

I used to love Cheerios with strawberries [they came in the box] and then Cheerios with mixed fruit [they came in the box]. Regardless of them being dehydrated fruits, it was SO much simpler than actually buying fruits and taking them out and cutting them and all of that crap. Cereal is always a quick meal for me, so I just pour it in a bowl with milk and eat.

But since they don't make these kinds of Cheerios anymore [I don't know why] now I just have some Total Raisin Bran with milk. Hah, it's still madd good because of the raisins.

I usually just eat my cereal plain or with skim milk. I once tried eating cereal with chocolate milk. Let's just say it didn't match.

A better question would be what you put in oatmeal, because that stuff is just plain without anything.

Dr. Chud Aug 19, 2006 01:06 PM

I just like to add milk unless it's something truly fucking nasty like All-Bran, in which case sugar is a must, if I even decide to eat it at all.

Just for the record, I do enjoy Corn Flakes or Raisin Bran with only milk, so don't think I'm a sugar-cereal fiend. (Not that there's anything really wrong with being that way about breakfast, imo.)

Ryuu Aug 19, 2006 10:22 PM

Just milk.

I think I've only put fruit into my cereal twice. Probably Cheerios as I find that brand to be bland at times. Bananas once and strawberries once if I remember right.

I guess I don't bother too much with adding anything to cereal as I think of it as a quick breakfast (rather than taking the time to prepare the fruit - wash, cut, etc. - to put in it).

This probably doesn't count but I like plain yogurt with my cereal (granola the choice of today). I'm too wierded out by fruit, it's soft and mushy when cereal is generally crisp and crunchy.

Malin Aug 20, 2006 03:17 PM

I don't like cereal...

Aoie_Emesai Aug 20, 2006 07:45 PM

I haven't experimented with my cereals that much. Milk and cereal is all i need at the moment.

Echo Aug 20, 2006 08:04 PM

I've tried putting bananas into my Cheerios. It's pretty good but I never have bananas and Cheerios in the house at the same time so I haven't been able to do it lately.

My cousins don't like the taste of milk, so they told me they use orange juice in their Cheerios. So one day I tried it, and it was quite the new experience. I thought it was ok, it's obviously not a taste everyone's going to enjoy, but you might want to try it one day.

Jin Aug 21, 2006 08:39 PM

I just add fruit to my cereal, mostly strawberries and bananas. I put in mountains of fruit since I eat those high fiber/healthy kind of cereal.

SommeR Aug 21, 2006 10:49 PM

usually brown or white sugar

But when I feel the need to lay it on me, I put all of the above plus! Blueberries and perhaps some cinnamon if im in the mood:biggrin:

Lee-chan Aug 21, 2006 10:52 PM

I've done the same as most people; sliced bananas or strawberries and put them in my cereal. Sometimes I also add sugar.

I've eaten cereal with ice cream before... or rather, used cereal as an ice cream topping. Cinnamon Toast Crunch on butter pecan ice cream is a personal favorite of mine.

I guess that's where they got the idea for those yogurt-flavored Cheerios?

I'm very lactose intolerant, so I always have cereal with soy milk...even goat's milk makes me sick, though it's not nearly as horrible as regular milk. Besides that little oddity, I don't really add anything special to my cereal...cutting fruits up is an occasional treat at most. The cereals that have dried fruit mixed in are a nice idea, but the fruit always seems to wind up gummy and weird-tasting.

Desert Penguin Aug 23, 2006 10:57 PM

I normally don't add much to my cereal, however, I put nearly DOUBLE the amount of milk than normal. When the cereal is all gone, there is still plenty of milk left over, and I drink the milk straight from the bowl

I'm going to have to steal your exact post. Word for word. Infact, yours is worded much better then I could have ever.
