More crap with terrorists
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/britain_terror_plot
this scares me considering Im flying to the US from France later this month... isnt it funny that they tried to do this on 8/10, which is one less then 9/11 shit...what do you guys think it was, who did it, and if its anything to worry about |
Well they didn't exactly tried to do it on 8/10, it's just that they got captured today. But yeah, it's definitely scaring, I guess.
|
Ahaha, I was discussing the 8-10 significance today at breakfast.
I like the whole liquid explosives idea, but seriously guys. Don't you think the airplane gimmick is done and over with? I particularly enjoyed Bush's little speech in Green Bay this afternoon, though. Made it all worth it. |
Geez whenever someone decides to blow something up or plans to do so, Bush thinks it's supposed to be an attack on the States.
Not like this will stop them from trying it again. Although... I really wouldn't want to fuck with those guys: http://www.spiegel.de/img/0,1020,681024,00.jpg |
well, met their 5 year quota. Statistically... it should be safer to take the plane without worrying about it being a target now. And security is hiked up all over the world with air travel. Guess they have to resort to train bombings again.
|
If the Terrorist were smart, they would release Snakes on the plane, instead of
Liquid Explosives... but they're not and so we get a movie instead of a CNN Newsfeed :) |
My question is... WHERE THE FUCK ARE Al-Quada hiding??? Man the sooner they are taking out the better the world will be (sry about my language but I'm pissed of as hell)

My guess is somewhere remote, with directives to Members via secure Internet connections, or in a crowded population area to throw off searchers, like either Vanatau or a major world city. |
I'm glad they foiled this. I for one would still take planes despite this, cause it's still one of the safest ways to travel, and I'm not gonna let terrorists run my life (too bad many others are too scared to take the plane anymore, which explains why many airlines are suffering financially right now).
I just hope that those intelligence agencies have people who are constantly trying to think like the terrorists would, and try to come up with scenarios so that their people will be more familiar with it, and if something like that does happen, they'll be able to stop it. I've got some ideas myself, but I'm not going to post them here because I'm afraid some nutcase may read it and decide to use my ideas (although I'd love to let the intelligence agencies know it, just so they can prepare for it). |

It's not even sure yet whether this was organized by Al-Qaeda or some other fag group
|
Goddamnit I have to fly back to Spain tommorow via Stansted.
Well I better take a sleeping back with me. (and thank fuck I'm not with Iberia, they're on strike at the moment) |
According to statistics, you have a significantly higher chance of dying while driving than on an airplane.
It's funny how things work. People die all the time in car accidents. So much so that people aren't afraid to drive anymore. But when an airplane crash occurs, or some terrorist acts, people are suddenly afraid to fly, even though the chances of you dying is significantly higher when driving than flying. I'm glad the plans were twarted though. |
Margaret Gavin, 67, waiting to board a train, said she wasn't scared. "Why should I change my life because some idiots want to blow something up?" she said.
First of all, that's awesome. =). Wow, I had't heard of that...but it really does bring to mind - that there are still terrorists out there, not only the ones Israel is fighting at the moment, but terrorists that directly threaten us. Quote:
Hm...I don't know if you were being sarcastic, but mind 'splainin that? Because these planes WERE heading to the US. "British authorities said Thursday they thwarted a terrorist plot to simultaneously blow up several aircraft heading to the U.S. using explosives smuggled in carry-on luggage." |
I heard on the news that intelligence had wind of the plot for ages (chatrooms and buying and credit cards) and actually only just ripped it open today. Of course the large percentage of muslims in the plot can't be good for the muslims in london. >___________________>

Yeah, but at least then, the driver is easily accessible so that you can beat their brains out when they make a wrong turn.

Also, to Sass and others who are talking about the 8/10 slant, this wasn't the day everything was supposed to happen. Today, they caught the 21 or how many ever terrorists. Experts have said it may have been planned for the fifth anniversary of 9/11, or even earlier. |

Al-Queda is not some sort of super villian organization with a secret fortress on the moutaintops of Uzbekistan. It's a network of people with similar ideals and goals. Even if Al-Queda was completely eliminated, there would still be terrorists out there. The only way terrorists would be gone is if humanity's worldviews changed for the better and put aside petty and asinine differences. This thwarted attack doesn't make me less inclined to fly, I love flying. I am glad they actually prevented it. However I think the extreme drastic measures of not allowing people to bring on carry-ons is too much. Didn't they find the guys before they came on to the plan? It just shows that at least the security checkpoints are good for something. |
The War on Terror has about the same chance of being successfully won as does the War on Drugs.
|
Mission accomplished for Big Brother. Everyone's back in panic mode now. News like this was bound to happen. For the last three weeks all we've been hearing about is Hezbolla that we all started to forget about the real threat to the western world. Bin Laden and Al Qaeda. So what better way than to ram it in faces again than to broadcast news of an 'alleged' terror plot to blow up aircraft. And just like the good lemmings we are we once again hand all our trust to our governments to keep us safe.
Pitiful fools we are. |

I would be a little weary about flying today, but not enough to deter me from flying to/from the U.K. My parents are very conservative and were already scared of the idea of me spending 5 months in England even though they are America's allies. Now, because of the morons that decided to pull this shit, I may not be able to take the trip because my parents will be scared half to death or the college would put it on their "red flag" list. Anyone have a rubber raft and a baseball bat I can use? Because I might gather the people that was suppose to come with me to England and help Scotland Yard |

I'd be more worried about speaking the truth right now then millions of Muslims wanting to destroy the US. |
