Mitsuda's next game - Lunamis Ark (DS strategy RPG)

According to the latest Famitsu magazine, Yasunori Mitsuda is the sound producer for a DS strategy RPG being developed by Image Epoch called Lunamis Ark.

No samples or anything yet, but figured it was worth mentioning for fellow Mitsuda fans.

Hm! I hope he can do something good with the DS's synth. Some decent stuff has come out of that chip, but if you use it lazily, it sounds like crud.

Taisai Aug 9, 2006 02:29 PM

Curious. I guess Mitsuda hasn't composed music on that game, tho (because he revealed that he has been responsible for the two DS titles, but he has just helped with the one of the two).

EDIT:Mistuda has composed a few tracks.

Want to see a Deep Labyrinth soundtrack
Want to hear more Mitsuda

DS Synth is ok but limited in sound quality
Want to see more next gen game scores with Mitsuda name on it!
-worships Yasunori!!!!-

In Mitsuda's diary he says he is the sound producer but only wrote "about 3" tracks. Most of it is composed by Procyon Studio (his company) employees & 4 outsiders.

Oh well, his touch is still there at least. But geez, when is he going to do another full, solo game soundtrack (preferably not for one that started out on a cellphone). :(

Seriously. I'm kinda wondering this as well. From interviews and such I know he doesn't have the biggest self esteem, but he does do great stuff and I hope he still keeps at what he does best.

According to recent news though, he has been working on a big-name game, but can't reveal what it is yet. Something about waiting until TGS to reveal what it is.

Wow! Any speculation on what it might be, this big name game? And where did this news came from?

I believe it was an interview done with him from that PLAY! concert. I'll go check it out... *bends time*

Here it is:

Hmm..., I fear it meaned an arrange album of CC, because he said not "music" or so but "music album"(I don't intend to trip you up, sorry). Anyway, he says he has currently been involved in one PS2 and two DS games and I hope he has worked on a big game actually.

The Chrono Cross Arranged Album would be amazing! Do not fear that :P

Is there anywhere you can get a decent quality rip (or OST) for Deep Labyrinth??

He obviously can't tell what the big thing is cause of confidentiality agreements, and Chrono Cross arrange album is not even a secret, he's been working on that for a while, he just didn't wanna rush it.

In other words, this "Big company game music album" is a new project that we probably never heard of before.

Taisai Aug 14, 2006 03:29 PM

I see. That's good to hear!
I amn't a big fan of him, but I'm sure he will move us strongly again.

Drakken Aug 14, 2006 05:06 PM

Oooh, I'm looking forward to finding out what this secret music album of his is. Also looking forward to the Chrono Cross arranged album; seems like we've been waiting forever for that. :-/

Raijin Aug 14, 2006 05:39 PM

So he's the sound producer? But who is the composer, him or another guy?

Argentis Aug 14, 2006 06:08 PM

Chrono Cross Arranged Album - wasn't that announced in the Play Interview?

Mitsuda must be doing something bigger than DS game work. Let's hope this Big Project is promising.

Taisai Aug 14, 2006 07:51 PM

Sorry for too many posts on this thread, but

As for Lunamis Ark, Mitsuda says music is totally produced by Procyon Studio. However, as far as I see this, now there are only two person except him in the studio : Suzuki and Kuroda, who don't seem to have composed music for any business works.

So, most of music in this game would be probably a maiden effort of Suzuki and Kuroda, or composed by some new recruits who haven't been introduced at the website yet.

Hamu-Sumo Aug 17, 2006 04:34 AM

Mitsuda-san for teh win! ;) It's time to hear a new RPG soundtrack from him...

Big game company, huh? Fortunalety, only a few big game companies are existing... -.- Ok, time for guessing... I say it's a game from Sony for PSP. ;)

Maybe they're outsourcing composing duties to Smile Please? Nah, just kidding.

Regarding the Chrono Cross arranged album: When was this mentioned the last time in an interview or official statement? After such a long time, I'm afraid they might have shelved it altogether.

Kairi Li Aug 17, 2006 09:52 AM

Well in Squaresound interview, he said he didn't want to rush it while working on other things and cause pressure like he did with Kirite, so he's gonna work on it more slowly I think, so he has no set release date. Rest assure its still in progress.

Regarding the Arrange Version of the Chrono Cross soundtrack, it's still in progress right now. But as I learned through my work in Kirite, I know now that I shouldn't try to compose or arrange songs while working on other projects. I'm not going to try to rush myself to get this album completed, so the release date isn't set yet.

Not sure about the Play! interview.
