The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers – The Complete Recordings - Oct. 2006

From MovieMusic.com

I’m just back in town now. I’ll dig into questions tonight in earnest, but for now a quick—and yes, important!—update. A couple of key people had to be away this week on personal business, so while there won’t yet be an official statement in the press, Howard just called to ask me to let you know that…

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers – The Complete Recordings will be available in late October, 2006.

So spread the word. You’ve got less than three months to wait now!

Back later, Doug Adams

Awesome, looking forward to this :)

Awesome. More LotR music is never a bad thing. Any info other than that available?

Tascar Aug 9, 2006 10:53 AM

I am so happy. Time to prereserve it early now.

Aieeee! Truthfully, The Two Towers was my least favorite soundtrack of the trilogy, but this will still be awesome to listen to and also for my collection :)

Tascar Aug 9, 2006 12:54 PM

As a whole, the score to Two Towers is probably the most uninteresting of the three, but the Rohan theme is just so incredibly awesome.

I actually found that as the movies went on, the music became much less interesting and dynamic.

Well, the Return of the King would be my fave soundtrack if it weren't for the fact that it had fucking Annie Lennox singing that goddam tune at the end. That screwed up the entire OST for me.

The Two Towers the least interesting? ah... I thought It was the best of the three IMO.

Agent Marty Aug 9, 2006 03:27 PM

Meh. I wasn't into the Two Towers score all that much, but I suppose I'll give this a listen when it comes out.

The Fellowship 3 CD set is fantastic.

Finally the new one is coming out, and then only one more to go to complete the collection.

Well regardless of what I think of the scores with relation to each other, I'd still say that even the weakest LOTR scores is alot better than most other scores.

I guess when I mean that I find the scores to the last two movies less interesting than the first, I refer to the fact that there just aren't that many new themes in the last two films in comparison to the first (for obvious reasons). That being said, The Two Towers ranks higher for me than The Return of the King because I really liked the Rohan theme, which is arguably the big theme of the second film, and I liked that it was used often and to great effect in the film. While I like the new themes and the additional emphasis on the Gondor theme in the third film, I think the massive amount of story and plot that had to be told in the span of this movie just kind of resulted in themes being given short-thrift and underused.

Of course, I am reserving my final opinions to the day I finish listening to the complete soundtrack to The Return of the King. It's amazing how much more I came to appreciate the score to The Fellowship of the Rings when I listened to it (more or less) in its entirety. I am sure that my view of the scores to the remaining two films will likewise be enriched once the new soundtracks come out.
