Final Fantasy III (DS) soundtrack info
http://www.square-enix.co.jp/music/sem/page/cd/cd_top/
61 tracks apparently. Arranged by Tsuyoshi Sekito and Keiji Kawamori. And here's the OST site: http://www.square-enix.co.jp/music/sem/page/ff3/ There's one song that plays in the background so far. More content supposedly coming soon. -Credit for the heads-up goes to Grievinger and king zell of the Neo GAF forum. |
They've had this info on GMR for at least a week or two. Also, if you checked the Square Enix Music composers page, you would have known the composer info beforehand.
Here's some other info for upcoming Square Enix music while we're at it. Seiken Densetsu 4 will be composed by Kenji Ito (coming from past info), Tsuyoshi Sekito, and Masayoshi Soken. It will be arranged by those composers, as well as Junya Nakano. Project Sylpheed is being composed by Junya Nakano, Kenichiro Fukui, and Kumi Tanioka. http://host.kg13.com/img/the_more_you_know.jpg Double Post: Also, Junya Nakano is going to be synth progammer (!) on something called Front Mission o-ru-ta-na-ti-vu. Someone needs to whip that last bit into some sense. |
Correction Kaleb,
Nakano *was* synth programmer for Front Mission Alternative, composed by Riow Arai :) It's just a reprint of the PS1 game. |
Forgive me, but Final Fantasy III III, or Final Fantasy VI III (the American SNES version of VI was III)?
|
This is a remake for the DS of FF3j.

So the DVD comes with the OST?
|
Yup. That's the so-called second disc. Not so impressive, in my opinion, especially given 61 tracks are crammed into the first disc. I doubt there will be a great deal of scope for arranging.
|
F*** that shit, 61 tracks on one disc? WTH they are thinking... no way I'm buying this.
|
yeah, no chance that the tracks will loop twice :( That sucks.
|
Did they loop in the first one? I need to scrounge it out and listen to it again
But apparently the sound quality is meant to be really good |
The original FFIII soundtrack has 44 tracks, but the tracks seem more cut up in this new release. For example the Final Battle and Ending are each 3 tracks, whereas they're 1 in the NES OST.
The tracks DO loop on the original OST, though not all the way in some cases. Keep in mind they're rather short tracks to begin with. The first battle theme is about 40 seconds prior to looping, and also tacks on the victory theme for a grand total of 1'53" for the whole track. Original OST is 54 mins 32 seconds. This one is probably pushing for the pure maximum of over 70. Edit: Wow, check out the samples on the main page: http://www.square-enix.co.jp/music/s.../ff3/info.html Pretty damn impressive for the DS. Though I'm assuming the sample quality was reduced for the actual game. This must be pre-compression. |
So in other words we don't need to worry about tracks not looping as we previously thought. This OST looks like a worthy purchase to me, good quality versions of the original FF3 music, a DVD with the opening movie with 5.1 surround. ( I love seeing FMVs on the TV then a dingy little screen.)
|
Screw the track list. I'm gonna buy the OST (if there's any) no matter what.
|
The Sound Quality is amazing on the site - but I wonder if the sound has been remastered for soundtrack release :/
***Confused*** Either way - It will be amazing (touch wood) |

Been playing the game. The remixes are pretty hit or miss, the best one is definately Forbidden Land Eureka.
|
I have listened the preview tracks... nice arrangement but not really special. :(

Interesting. I had never heard of that.
Anyway, back to the music, I think the arrangement will be decent, but I will have to listen to the whole thing before considering any purchase. |
Er... The rip was already available a week ago.

I really like both the DS and Black Mages rendition of the Final Battle, and of course the beautiful Eternal Wind orchestration... and bump.
