GFF Upgrading To vB 3.6.0 Gold

vBulletin 3.6.0 Gold was released last night! GFF will be upgrading to it this weekend. You might notice a short board closure or missing functionality while this occurs. vBulletin 3.6.0 brings a lot of cool new features!

Freelance Aug 4, 2006 03:29 PM

So what cool new features does it have? Don't leave me in the dark!

YoMan Aug 4, 2006 03:49 PM

Alright, spil it bobo! :) What cool features?

Not sure if any of them really applies to me from a cursory glance.

Sweet new feaures!

-Enhanced/speedy browsing because of AJAX
-Auto image resizing! :bigmiu: won't be too big now haha
-Reason for edition posts: "It needed editing..."

Lookin' forward to this upgrade!

YoMan Aug 4, 2006 04:02 PM

Hey, read the features over at vbulletin and it looks nice. Looking forward to it.

Well I just hope the max dimensions for a single image will be constrained to 800x(600)X, since that appears to be the most appropriate size for pictures without stretching any length tables. Of course I'm assuming that the general public has a display of 1024x or higher.

Warning system. I've been waiting for 3.6 to go gold, damn Jelsoft sure took their time.

Freelance Aug 4, 2006 04:16 PM

AWESOME! The best feature is the Multi Quote function! The rest of the features doesn't really apply to me, but the auto-resizing image feature sounds somewhat handy...

UltimaIchijouji Aug 4, 2006 05:30 PM

AJAX in vB? What?

galen Aug 4, 2006 08:04 PM

Hopefully the automatic image resizing is optional, as it tends to slow down my browser...

Guru Aug 4, 2006 08:34 PM

...what browser? poor galen :(

There's nothing worse than stretched tables, even if it comes at the expense of speedy browsing.

I definitely agree with this. I hate it when people link huge images to a forum, and the tables are all messed up....

But anyways, the new features in vB look pretty cool... maybe not something I'll use everyday, but cool to have if I do need 'em.

Firefox. It's mostly just been a problem with Imageshack and other image hosts, so far.

FatsDomino Aug 4, 2006 11:31 PM

I'd only agree to resizing if it were when you're quoting someone akin to how Something Awful does it or if it were an option like [ img=thumbnail]bleh.gif[ /img] that would be controlled at the user's level in bbcode. If I want to show an image I don't want to be restricted by some retarded code that automatically resizes all images over a certain size everywhere.

Multi Quote? That sounds like an excellent feature! I've needed such a feature for a little while now. The upgrade's worth it just for that.

Agreed. I don't like the idea of everything being resized automatically.

nazpyro Aug 6, 2006 01:20 AM

Sweet. Automatic image resizing is finally here as per my request a few months ago. My blog's had it since it was first put in over a year ago. Hopefully that feature will carry over into the chocojournal.

Good work, bobo.

YO PITTSBURGH MIKE HERE Oct 14, 2006 12:08 PM

So was this never implemented, or what?

Nope. Not surprising either.

Rock Oct 14, 2006 02:57 PM

Just give it some time, people. We're still in the process of upgrading.

Sir VG Oct 14, 2006 03:57 PM

Well, by the time we finish, we'll have to start working on the next upgrade:

vBulletin
Latest Version: 3.6.2
