WolfDemon Aug 7, 2006 12:24 AM

This is looking to be a good month, what with Dead Rising out in two days and Dirge of Cerberus out the next week. I'm also looking forward to Starfox Command and Disgaea 2.

Elixir Aug 7, 2006 01:10 AM

Even though this is an american list, Metal Slug 6 and Melty Blood are due out this month.

Just a warning, Tenchu DS sucks something horrid. It's nothing like the orther games and the angle you're playing on really doesn't add anything to the stealth factor of the game. I don't know if they're going to add anything different from the japanese version, but it really doesn't matter since it's a game you just can't save from failure.

J-Man Aug 7, 2006 01:12 AM

50 Cent: Bulletproof G UNIT EDITION!!!!!

Best game of the month, why lie.

Ken Hikari Aug 7, 2006 01:24 AM

Bummer, nothing really remotely interests me except Disgaea II.

Next month however is a different story...:edgarrock:

I've played both the Dead Rising and Saints Row demos on Live and both are EXTREMELY disappointing. The former is basically State of Emergency: Zombie Edition, and Saints Row is yet another supremely dull GTA rip off. And Bomberman...well, let's just say that has potential but is looking pretty iffy right now. =\

I was surprised that the demo for N3 was actually that fun. It went from a mere curiosity to a definite purchase for me.

I'm told by importers that DoC is absolutely attrocious and should be avoided like the plague. Unfortunately we'll have people like Soldier buying 15 copies and propelling it to greatest hits status by the end of the year.

Disgaea 2 had a preorder thing going on at the NIS website on the 1st. Their site got hammered to hell, I guess people really wanted those artbooks. I managed to snag two, one for me and one for a buddy. This game should be a lot of fun.

It's a shame Xenosaga III is the last one in the series. I am a huge fanboy for this stuff but it's a frowny situation that it has to come to an end. ;___;

Fast and the Furious, although a movie title, could be interesting if it plays anything like NFS MW or the arcade Initial D machines. From gameplay vids, it looks like it might, so I'm going to have to go out and rent this.

DS:
August 8, 2006 Deep Labyrinth
August 28, 2006 Star Fox Command
August 29, 2006 Cooking Mama
Starfox is gonna be hilarious over wifi. I can't wait to start that up again. A few people in chat saidit's not the best thing ever though. But we'll see, as they haven't related stories of the wifi experience yet. Which seems to be the whole point.

Deep Labyrinth is looking pretty neat, but is one of those gamefly-first sort of things. I'm interested but don't feel like shelling out the bucks right off the crack.

And I didn't even know Cooking Mama was coming out this month, how did I overlook that. It looks like a bonafide riot.

Once again, the PSP, Xbox and GC has a grand total of NOTHING. How AWESOME. ANd my PC isn't up to snuff to play much of anything right now, so my experiences with those will have to wait.

nazpyro Aug 7, 2006 12:03 PM

I've already pre-ordered DoC:FFVII, really just to play it once, and have it :-/ BECAUSE FFROXMYSOX (Come on, plague). I'm also looking forward to Star Fox Command. Other than, I'll be doing catch-up on the other systems. Xenosaga and Disgaea are of interest, but I haven't played the earlier ones yet, and I like the whole going-in-order thing. I might get an X-box 360 soon too, so there's a bunch of games there I'd need to get as well.

Rydia Aug 7, 2006 12:36 PM

The three games I'll be picking up are Cooking Mama (DS), Dirge of Cerberus, and Xenosaga III. I tried Cooking Mama a few months ago and was entertained by its simplicity.

Gechmir Aug 7, 2006 12:36 PM

I hear (and figured) that FF-DoC is just shit, really... It's only fanservice like Advent Children, which was also shit.

Oh fuck! Deep Labyrinth comes out tomorrow! Got something to guy buy ;D

August 8, 2006 Deep Labyrinth (DS)
August 29, 2006 Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories (PS2)

Those two are definitely on my list. Disgaea 2 I might just rent over Gamefly... But also:
August 22, 2006 King of Fighters 2006

I freaking LOVE KoF games. 2D fighters rule.

Cooking Mama? I think I remember hearing that being a hit amid importers. I need to read up on it again.

Just called my Gamestop. Deep Labyrinth gets here the 16th, their site has the 15th listed. Misinformation?

SouthJag Aug 7, 2006 01:27 PM

Just to throw it out there -- the release date for any game is always one day before it hits stores. Technically, the game IS released, but shipping it to the stores takes a day, so yeah.

I'm really looking for to N3: Ninety Nine Nights, FF7: Dirge of Cerberus, and Xenosaga 3 this month. I've been fascinated with N3 since it's debut at E3 2005. Dirge is gonna be a must-have, as I enjoyed the movie and FF7, and Xenosaga 3 so I can finally close the book on this trilogy of games.

And rightfully so, as they didn't play the NA version. They've made a lot of changes to the core gameplay for the NA release, and dare I say it's building up to be a nearly different game overall.

Technically the site is correct since their site always shows the ship date, not the arrival date. So whatever the ship date is, add one day to that and you have the real arrival date for both at the store and those who pre-order and opt for 1 day shipping. It is a bit backwards though.

Grawl Aug 7, 2006 02:08 PM

I'm really looking forward to... o... nothing.

They are going to have to change it a LOT, as I know more than a few people who were extremely disappointed with that one. From what I hear, unless they completely overhauled the entire combat system, it's still not going to be anywhere near good.

Then again, after I heard about how shitty the import was, I didn't bother keeping up with the changes they have made to the NA version. Care to elaborate?

Freelance Aug 7, 2006 02:38 PM

Nothing interests me in that list except for Star Fox Command, and even then, I'm not going to be getting that right away. What I'm most interested in is not an actual game.

I can't wait for October (Final Fantasy XII and Sims 2: Pets). I don't think there's anything I want in September.

Referring to the fact that the list here says it comes out tomorrow =p It actually ships on the 15th contrary to what the list says. I realize there's a ship date and there's a date where they actually *have* the game.

Was referring to my local store saying it wouldn't be tomorrow as well as Gamestop's website. The list is wrong on some dates methinks~

The target system has been completely overhauled, which was the primary problem. No longer do you have to switch to first person to fire. The camera now does a RE4 movement for aiming. A double jump was added as well. So now, essentially, the game combines the best elements of Devil May Cry 3's combat system and Resident Evil 4's aiming.

A big nothing for me this month. But I have a lot of DVDs and soundtrack to buy though. September is gonna be a blast ^_^

That's all the games I plan to get sooner or later. The only ones I'll actually get this month are Deep Labyrinth, Star Fox Command, and Cooking Mama. Everything else I'll just wait for a price drop before I get it.

Burp Aug 7, 2006 04:30 PM

Starfox Command its the only thing that i want in the list... i also want Melty Blood Act-Cadenza.

Dr. Uzuki Aug 7, 2006 04:31 PM

Hmm, dilemma. I am getting Disgaea 2 upon its release for sure, guess that means I better hurry up and finish Nocturne, Wild Arms 4, and Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams before the end of the month. I feel obligated to see how the end of the Xenosaga series turns out, but I may wait on that for a bit.

Wow, this has been out for about a year here, the world's not supposed to work like that! It's pretty good for a rental, too. Also Xbox sure is getting a lot of sand games this month, but where's Sandy Volleyball? Sandy Castle Building Compz 2000? What a waste!

Newbie1234 Aug 7, 2006 05:48 PM

I'll be giving Dead Rising and N3 some time, and probably Star Fox as well. It's nice that the game releases are finally heating up after a slow summer.

Simo Aug 7, 2006 06:55 PM

Nothing interesting this month so I'll probably be just picking up Dragon Quest VIII given the knockdown in price to $19.99.

September and October on the other hand are much better months for gaming.

It is quite sad, but that trend has been going on for a while. The good stuff should be arriving in October with Super Paper Mario and probably Zelda, and Wii along with that. The past 6+ months have been pretty bad for GC. T_T
