Professor Layton and the Anime Trailers

Quote:

Next January, the first Professor Layton full length feature Professor Layton and the Immortal Songstress will be released in Japanese theaters. The anime's first trailers have been released along with its first posters.

The Layton movie is an original story from series creator Akihiro Hino and will feature game characters Professor Layton and his apprentice Luke. Professor Layton and the Immortal Songstress will be produced by Masakazu Kubo, producer of the Pokémon films.

Both clips feature puzzles where the answer is eiga, or "movie" in English.

Two trailers are available here. This looks rather interesting, seeing as the games are already loaded with Ghibli-esque scenes. Fans of the games should be excited, in any case. I know I'd love to see it. What do you think?

also if this belongs in games feel free to move it

I'd definitely like to see this. I love the art style and English voices of the game, too bad I'm too dumb to figure out some of the puzzles most of the time. :(

2010? Why? :/

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the movie. It's great they're making a movie version. Hopefully Nintendo will release the movie oversea... Oh wait! First of all where's Professor Layton DS 2 and 3?
...and on a side note where's the Animal Crossing movie Nintendo?...

:(

Given how awesome Professor Layton is, definitely excited about this. But yeah, where's Layton 2 and 3 on the DS already?

Luke mah boiii

This should be rad. Since the first trailer I've loved the visual style and hoped there'd be an animated movie.

(Also the Animal Crossing anime was sweet~)

I was pretty late to find out about these games, but just the art style alone has such a unique look it got my interest. Would be nice to see it possibly even on the big screen with the whole casual gamer fanbases now, but how they're going to pull off a lot of "This reminds me of a puzzle..." moments as a movie is beyond me. An anime sherlock holmes perhaps?

Sonic-Dude Apr 10, 2009 02:46 PM

is it going to be an anime on TV after the movies?

FatsDomino Apr 11, 2009 01:22 PM

Yes. And then there will be 12 cell phone games where you and Luke search for pennies through the power of your cellphones camera. Shake! Shake!

Sonic-Dude Apr 11, 2009 01:52 PM

That's cool, I wonder when its going to be here in the US?

Hahaha you didn't really believe Acer did you. Anyway if it's hittin' nippon theatres in 2010 don't expect to see anything over here until around the end of the '10 or even early '11.

Sousuke Apr 12, 2009 11:52 AM

That's true. Though with Layton's popularity, I'm sure there will be at least seven fansub groups on it shortly after its release. If you're into that kind of thing, that is.

Don't believe in yourself. Believe in me, who believes in you.

For the lazy people out there, here's the first of 11 parts (Eng Subs) on youtube link

Was a not bad film I thought, the puzzles didn't intrude too much on the story except the giant baskets thing which I thought was... odd...
