What games are you playing at the moment?

I'm hooked on "Death Racers". I cannot stop playing this game. What games do you play right now?

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Feb 24, 2012 06:01 PM

Right now I'm playing a lot of Jenga.

Gaming capacity is maxed out by the continuous playthrough of every Assassin's Creed (faffing creed) game up to Brotherhood while we wait for Revelations to come down in price a bit. One of my flatmates bought Rage on the recommendations of a friend and although the game is a disappointment I maintain it was worth it to watch him become so frustrated by almost every aspect of the game. On those rare occasions when the TV isn't occupied I'm getting my Tomb Raider on (bought the original Tomb Raider for £2 a few months ago for nostalgia's sake and playing through Anniversary at the same time)

Of all things, I'm playing Final Fantasy XIII for the first time.

It's amazing what the pain of wisdom teeth removal will let you sit through...

Classic or Jell-o?

wvlfpvp Feb 28, 2012 11:34 AM

I'm playing (currently) Alan Wake, AC: Brotherhood (just discovered the fairly nice, almost mic-free MP, I just want all of Rome to open up to me in Story. Stupid last 3/4 viewpoints), Fortune Street (which is annoyingly/surprisingly hard) and Final Fantasy 8. Which I still have never finished due to disc errors on previous copies. I'm stalled on Drakengard 2 and Fable 1 thanks to wanting to play other stuff too much (and the former's annoying "difficulty").

I must be one of the only people on the planet who quite enjoyed FFXIII :(

Classic Jenga mainly, with the odd round of housebrick Jenga thrown in for shits and giggles.

Heh, I bought it for the girlfriend when it first came out. She played it for around ten hours before shelving it. There it sat until this past weekend, when for some reason, I got a hankering to play a FF game, but I wanted something "new"...I dunno. Lately I've been very OCD about gaming, jumping from one to another without finishing any. I have so many on a backlog right now, it isn't even funny.

I will say that I'm not a fan of the game so far. If it were anything other than a "Final Fantasy" title, I would consider it to be a very mediocre game with an extremely shitty story. Because it's a Final Fantasy game and it has the weight of years of experience and more than a few dollar signs backing it...makes it even worse, especially coming off of FFXII, which did show signs of improving the stale FF formula.

I don't know. I don't see anything redeeming in FFXIII yet. I just got to Gran Pulse, and finally am given somewhere to actually "explore". Of course that only took 26 hours. But even still there doesn't seem to be too much "new" and "different" to even try to find! We'll see. I'm determined to see this through to the end now. I want to know if it can get better or worse...

Right now I'm playing different games. Mainly because I really don't know exactly what it is I'm wanting to play. Bouncing between Assassin's Creed 2, Dragon Quest 9 (just grotto hunting and clearing), and any other game I feel like dusting off the shelf. I should work on clearing out my backlog with stuff like Silent Hill Downpour coming out soon, though. :\

Having finished Hunted: The Demon's Forge and A Vampyre Story, I'm now replaying Mass Effect 1, so I can transfer a new clear file for ME2 and then replay ME2 so I'll have a new clear file ready for ME3.

Haha I play that a lot. I don't even know why I like it so much. I also enjoy playing Mahjong.

At the moment I've been playing Lunar 2 Eternal Blue since I never got around to it for some odd reason and I loved lunar sssc. I'm also picked up Guild Wars again after a very long hiatus since I want to play GW2 at some point.

I think I liked it because it was so linear. You could just plough through the (Very silly) story without odd diversions for the sake of it. I thought the paradigm changing thingy was a nice re-working of the costumes from FFX-2 although until you get to some of the harder hunts the fights are all far too easy. The game is almost the opposite of FFXII (Which is one of my favourite in the series) which gave you a free reign to go where you want and do what you want almost from the start.

I'd love to know what inspired both FF XIII and Mass Effect 2 to feature Aussie lesbians in the same year though. It can't be a coincidence surely?

themongomania Mar 9, 2012 03:47 AM

I'm currently playing Xenogears, Jak II on the HD Collection, and Skyward Sword.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Mar 25, 2012 05:07 AM

I just finished Mass effect 2 and started Red Dead Redemption. It's alright I suppose but suffers from a lack of a Bon Jovi soundtrack. I will say though that it's the shortest time from putting a new disc in to actually playing a game I've yet encountered on PS3, clocking in at a mere 5 minutes and 13 seconds worth of downloading and installing updates and loading, although you then sit through another five minutes of cut scene before you can actually press any buttons.

I picked up Borderlands a week or so ago when Steam had it on special. I haven't played it yet, but I'll probably get to it soon.

Aside from that, I've just started on Tales of Graces ƒ... It's pretty good so far, but then again, I'm a fan of the Tales series. That said, the battle mechanics are slightly different from what I'm used to, and haven't quite gotten the Artes system down yet, but I'm enjoying the game so far. :3:

Vemp Mar 25, 2012 09:06 PM

Started playing Batman Arkham City yesterday (so gooood), and doing another run of MGS Peace Walker on the PSP.

Lord Jaroh Mar 28, 2012 01:11 AM

Well, I beat FFXIII...there are no words...

Now to actually move to something better. Right now I'm playing Dungeon Siege III with the girlfriend and having a decent time of it. I also just bought Armored Core V, so hopefully that one will be okay.

Mercury Blue Mar 28, 2012 12:20 PM

Either Naughty Bear (who cannot deny loving beating the stuffing out of other stuffed bears...) and I am hoping to start playing American McGee's Alice: Madness Returns this weekend.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Mar 28, 2012 04:15 PM

So Red Dead Redemption is pretty dull, I'm going to play either Borderlands or Crackdown 2 instead I think.

Vemp Mar 29, 2012 08:58 PM

I picked up FFXIII yesterday because it was on sale. 2 hours into it, and it's ok so far, but still very very linear. Let's see how it goes.

Good luck! Hopefully you enjoy it more than I did... :)

On the home consoles, SSX for 360. Looks great and I'm only on the second mountain, but I am finding it difficult to get myself to continue playing it for some reason.

For the portable consoles Professor Layton and the Last Specter. It seems to be more of the same, but that's not a bad thing. It feels like the puzzles have been raised in difficulty this time around.
