How to unlock a "locked" .mdf image file.
I'm having problems with an image file (.mdf format) I downloaded.
First of all, when I run its .sfv that tells me that the file is locked http://hem.bredband.net/seanne/lockediso2.jpg If I try to burn the image using Alcohol 120%, I get this: http://hem.bredband.net/seanne/lockediso3.jpg And finally, if I either mount the image or unpack it with Isobuster and then play the individual .vob's, the video looks like so: http://hem.bredband.net/seanne/lockediso1.jpg So I guess that either was the source dvd copy protected, or the guy who ripped the image did some shit with it. Can anyone give me a hand with this? |
Locked usually means that some application has both write and read (exclusive) access to the file, so another application can't execute read operations on the file (the reason for the SFV checker not scanning the file).
Can you mount it with Daemon Tools and open the virtual drive with DVD Decryptor? Maybe the CSS encryption was not removed while ripping the DVD? |

Just run it through DVD Decrypter again.

"Run it through"?
You mean I should rip it from the mounted ISO? |
Correct. Extracting an ISO from a DVD doesn't mean the encryption is automatically removed. DVD Decryptor does this for you if you don't touch the settings, but it also lets you read the original encrypted data and create a (lets say) 1:1 copy of the DVD.
If you burn the ISO it should play in a normal DVD standalone. VLC should play the mounted ISO also without problem (maybe you should test this first). |
Yay, running it through dvddecrypter did the trick.
Cheers, fellas. |
