Yo I need some fucking games

I recently signed up for Steam on this vidtron machine of mine, and although I normally don't bother with PC GAMING MASTER RACE because y'all are some fuckers, I need your assistance. I'm going home on leave for a bit and need some ideas for 2p shit I can play with my little sister on this thing.

I am open to any and all suggestions.

I heard Rayman Origins has a cool 2-player mode. But I don't have that game.

Audiosurf on Double Vision mode? (Requires coordination)
Magicka? (Requires a penchant for button-mashing and "accidentally" killing your partner)

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed has no right to be good, but it somehow is. Excellent graphics, and music that's so man mode it will make hair grow on your eyeballs. Also, the gameplay's much better thought-out than Mario Kart whatever. For instance, the equivalent of the blue shell item clogs up the track in front of the leader with horrifying hornets, which slows the entire front of the grid down but can be minimized with competent driving, as compared to the Finger of God smiting whoever's in first and no one else.

Also you can play as Vyse in it, which means that every copy sold improves the world's chances of a sequel to Skies of Arcadia slightly. Somehow. I think. Just make sure to play it on 360 controllers, the keyboard controls are as mediocre as you'd expect from a racing game.

EDIT: Actually, I bought a four pack on a Steam sale a while ago, and I still have one copy left. If you're interested, add Let's Seek The Truth! on Steam and I could give it to you. :v

Portal 2 (if anyone hasn't gotten around to playing that one yet)
Divekick (the one true game)

SuperSonic Oct 10, 2013 08:30 AM

A majority of my multiplayer games on Steam are FPS's. I'll throw Team Fortress 2 in there since it's free. If you're looking for something more towards co-op, Left 4 Dead is the way to go (might wanna find a couple of buddies to join you in the action).

If FPS isn't your cup of tea, I'm gonna agree with Divekick. Simplistic controls, easy to pick up, play, and learn, and you'll find yourself chanting "Fraud" on a Fraud Detection Warning.

Trine / Trine 2

Xellos Oct 10, 2013 11:01 AM

Magicka, Civilization V, Left 4 Dead 2, Trine 2, Dungeon Defenders.

Great co-op games.

Recettear.

CAPITALISM HO.

The unmovable stubborn Oct 10, 2013 12:12 PM

Yes, the.... compelling... 2-player gameplay. Of Recettear.

I second the Audiosurf Double Vision suggestion. Very easy to pick up but surprisingly deep and with good lasting appeal due to the 'you can use any old music file on your hard drive' thing. If you end up playing that one and want someone to compete with on obscure tracks, give me a yell. Audiosurf 2 was also recently released on Steam Early Access, but it's simply not ready yet.

Other than that and a few well-known FPS games, there's not a whole lot of multiplayer stuff in my library. Castle Crashers is supposed to be fun, but I haven't tried that yet.

You know what? Fuck it. Here's the game that will most likely catch your interest or some shit.

Here's that game

Actually, I wouldn't recommend Rayman Origins on Steam. I just ran into a save corruption issue about 6-7 hours into the game that Ubisoft doesn't plan on fixing. Check out this link It's a real shame because its a brilliant game that I was working on getting 100% on. I don't really 100% games anymore so it was a huge letdown for me.

I have a free copy of Bastion and Portal if you want me to gift it for you. Let me know dude.

There are weekly sales at humblebundle.com that will let you pay what you want and/or help charity. They've almost always got steam games on there and its a good way to build your library.

Portal 2 is a fucking riot, she loves it. Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'll let you know which ones do/don't fly later maybe.

TF2 is actually pretty fun in Man vs Machine mode. Look for servers with max users of 10 for the roffle ones. You tend to get tons of upgrades, hilarious amounts of robot horde, and it's just in generally pretty fun even for people not great at games.

LIAR Oct 14, 2013 11:02 AM

Seconding TF2 MvMM. I just found out about it over the weekend and instantly loved it. Great Tower Defense meets FPS style gameplay.

Vemp Oct 17, 2013 08:27 PM

but.. but.. don't you need tickets for it? (MvM) Or am I doing something wrong?

You need tickets if you want to unlock the garish trophy guns, but just shootin' robots is free.

RacinReaver Oct 17, 2013 09:18 PM

Easiest way to play MvM is to open up the server browser and throw in the map name filter mvm. That way you can find a server with low ping and 5/6 slots filled without having to go through their stupid matchmaking service.

Vemp Oct 17, 2013 10:37 PM

Dang, I knew I was doing somethign wrong! Gonna try this out when I get home tonight. I've only been playing CTF mode and it's kinda getting a bit boring. Time to try shooting robots mode.

Awesomenauts is really good. Super Hexagon and World of Good are simple and nice too.
I have to tell you (though) that Super Hexagon is extremely difficult at first. xD

Chao_Zero Nov 15, 2013 02:10 AM

Well, the only suggestion I have that's free is an FPS, called Planetside 2.
If you're looking for a racer and don't mind spending about $20.00, there's Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box.
Other than those two, I got nothing.
Alternatively, you could go the MapleStory route, which is inexplicably available through Steam now. However, it was hell to uninstall the fucking game, thanks to Nexon (the company behind MS) sneaking in some sort of bastard lock that prevented me from uninstalling it. So yeah. Fuck MapleStory.
