Which Laptop is better?Help me out.

Ok so i need a laptop for general purpose and i enquired at a local shop and have short listed 2 models for the range of my budget. They are :

Compaq Presario V6211AU Portable
• AMD Turion™64 X2 Processor TL-50
• 512 MB PC2-5300 DDR2 (667 MHz)
• 120 GB HDD
• 1.6 GHz, 2 x 256 KB L2 Cache, up to 1600 MHz FSB, Dual Core
• 15.4” Colour TFT ; BrightView™ WideScreen
• 8X SuperMulti Drive Double Layer (8.5 GB) DVD Writer
• Wireless LAN 802.11a/b/g
• Windows Vista Home Basic

Compaq Presario V6316TU
• Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor T2080 (1.73 GHz)
• Intel 945GM Express Chipset
• 512 MB DDR2 (667 MHz)
• 80GB HDD SATA
• 8X SuperMultiDrive DVDRW with DL
• 15.4" WXGA TFT with BrightView Screen Technology
• Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 950
• DVMT 3.0 – Up to 64 MB
• Altec Lansing Stereo Speakers
• 56K Modem

Pricings are almost the same. The Intel one is slightly cheaper.

So which is the best?

Get something else. The graphics chip sucks and you don't have enough memory to even bother running Vista. Besides, the first notebook doesn't appear to have a hard drive? Please post more specs and tell us what you even plan on doing with the notebook.

need it for simple MS office , PDF , Movies, browsing....

NO GAMING!

anyway i am adding another stick to make it 1 GB RAM.

dont want to buy a low end one..atleast these are decent..

basically i want to know which processor is better of the two.

Any would be fine, though I recommend you at least double the RAM to 1 GB. Raising it to 2 GB would be optimal, if you can afford it.

RAM is a big deal. 1GB is the minimum (especially wince you are stuck with Vista, bleh).

I'd go with the Intel. A) You said it was cheaper B) I believe they are more power efficient than the Turion

i am gonna get 1 gig for sure..and i want to get rid of vista and install xp...i will ...
