Microsoft Confirms Xbox Live Arcade Wednesdays
Quote:

Microsoft has confirmed a new program called 'Xbox Live Arcade Wednesdays', which features a regular weekly launch schedule for new Xbox Live Arcade games over the Xbox 360 online service, seemingly addressing multiple recent game delay issues for the much-vaunted service.
Starting today, Xbox Live Arcade users will now go live on Wednesdays at 0800 GMT (Midnight Pacific) to download the first in what will be a series of new releases.

The complete schedule is announced as follows:
* July 12 - Frogger
* July 19 - Cloning Clyde
* July 26 - Galaga
* August 2 - Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting
* August 9 - Pac-Man
August 2nd, bitches.

Let's see if they can stick to this.

Good fucking work on grabbing that before it went down too.

Grundlefield Earth Jul 11, 2006 03:05 PM

What are the prices anyway? And it stops at August 9th?

Double Post:
Xbox Live Arcade’s ‘Frogger’ has been enhanced and reinvigorated for the Xbox 360 and features new, enhanced artwork that matches and compliments the original style. In addition the game’s audio, including sound effects and music ditties, has been modernized to sound crisp and clear on today’s high performance sound systems. New features include:

- Enhanced artwork and backdrops; players can now choose to play the original arcade classic graphics or the new enhanced graphics

- Fresh soundtrack and upgraded sounds effects

- New Xbox Live Arcade split screen multiplayer modes

- Addictive new Co-op vs Speed, and Head-to-Head Modes

The release of ‘Frogger’ will be followed up by a host of highly anticipated titles:

– ‘Cloning Clyde,’ the action adventure/puzzle game created by Wahoo Studios, developer of the popular ‘Outpost Kaloki X’ for Xbox Live Arcade, will bring its wacky,, classic animation style world to Xbox 360 on July 19

– ‘Galaga,’ the popular space shooter from Namco, which was first released back in 1981, comes packed with a new online multiplayer function, enhanced graphics and all new game modes on August 2

– ‘Street Fighter II’ Hyper Fighting’ takes the best from retro gaming and combines it with the signature features of Xbox 360 and Xbox Live, creating the best ‘Street Fighter’ experience to date, on July 26

Of course, a line-up of retro classics wouldn’t be complete without perhaps the most classic title of them all, ‘Pac-Man,’ the fruit-eating maze game that changed the face of gaming upon its release in 1980. The Xbox Live Arcade version, which comes out on August 9, takes the famous franchise to the next-generation. With multiplayer over Xbox Live and tons of cool Achievements, ‘Pac-Man’ stays true to the original while powering-up to next-gen standards.

To help kick-off the summer of Xbox Live Arcade and the launch of these classic game titles, Xbox Live celebrated the 80s with the second Xbox Live Gold Experience event last night in San Francisco for its community members and is now helping other Xbox gamers do the same. Xbox 360 gamers that are interested in throwing their own 80s game night can visit www.xbox.com to secure a retro party-in-a-box complete with Microsoft Points Cards good for free arcade title downloads, pizza coupons courtesy of Papa John’s, and a gift card for 80s music.

“There’s no better way to revisit the 80s than to throw a retro-themed Gold Experience party - complete with the right classic arcade games, music, and pizza,” said Ami Blaire, Global Marketing Director for Xbox Live. “So this summer, live it up on your Xbox 360 and enjoy our new twists on the old classic faves.”

All Xbox Live Arcade games can be demoed for free on Xbox Live Marketplace. Check out Xbox Live and Xbox.com for continuing updates on exciting new content available to Xbox 360 gamers.

By the looks of it we are better off getting a 360 for some revamped retro gaming rather than retail games and you know what? It's cool! Long live the retro!

Grundlefield Earth Jul 11, 2006 07:21 PM

Ha yeah right, you would have to be a total nut like Joe Devola to think that that is the case.

I hate to say this, but even though Hyper Fighting will be online on 360, it will NOT be the best "Street Fighter" experience. I'm afraid best "Street Fighter" experience, especially "Online Street Fighter" experience, still goes to 3rd Strike. I'm not saying this is a bad idea (frankly, I like it), but I seriously doubt it will be as popular online.

TonyDaTigger Jul 11, 2006 08:29 PM

August 2nd bitches!

Thanks for grabbing the info for us Tube. :)

From what I've read.. I dont have the original source but supposedly the "classic gaming" content will cost 400MSP.

I would easily pay 19.99 to cream corn people in SFII but hope Capcom/Microsoft doesn't read my reply. :)

Crazy Joe Devola?

Also, I've yet to purchase an Xbox Live Arcade game, and none of these look too appealing. If I was forced to chose a couple, I'd go with Frogger and Street Fighter.

russ Jul 11, 2006 10:36 PM

Ok so apparently one day Street Fighter will actually get released. That's cool, because I'm really looking forward to calling people nerds when they completely annihilate me at it.

WolfDemon Jul 11, 2006 10:48 PM

I wonder how the multiplayer Pac Man will be. Maybe four people will control the ghosts?

Can't wait for Street Fighter to finally come out. Except I know there's gonna be half a million Ryu newbs to fish through before I fight someone decent.

Calling anyone a "newb" at a fifteen year old game is pushing the term a bit I think.

SimDaddyGT Jul 12, 2006 03:03 AM

Not really if someone who isn't even as old as the game who's never played it before and just plain scrubs his/her way to victory. Trust me, I've seen it in 3rd Strike. Constant Ryu/Ken/Akuma players who do nothing but stand back and throw Hadoukens all day. They'll pull the same shit in Hyper Fighting, only this time you can't parry.

SpaceInsomniac. Jul 12, 2006 05:00 AM

Fucking Frogger is winning over Cloning Clyde with you people? That is so very wrong.

Kilroy Jul 12, 2006 05:08 AM

Multiplayer Frogger? I sooo wanna be one of the trucks.

Anyway, though I shouldn't complain about new Arcade content, because it's rare like plutonium in breakfast cereal, I would like to see some new stuff. Frogger? Galaga? You can play some edition of almost all the games for free using the internet. I can see why I should pay for Marble Madness, and some of the other excellent game....

RABicle Jul 12, 2006 10:28 AM

SHIT galaga is on Xbox Live Arcade now?

That's pretty much the greatest game of all time!

TonyDaTigger Jul 12, 2006 02:37 PM

So apparantly Cloning Clyde and Street Fighter 2 for 800MSP? (10 bucks)

Quote:

Microsoft also used the San Francisco event to answer another question in the front of gamers' minds--how much will the latest wave of Xbox Live games cost? As expected, Street Fighter II' Hyper Fighting will be pricier than its brethren, weighing in at 800 Marketplace points, or around $10. Cloning Clyde will bear the same price point, most likely due to the fact that it is a brand-new title.

Why wait, when I'm ready to go right away? ;)

Did you play Outpost Kaloki X? I believe it's the same development team.

Celisasu Jul 12, 2006 05:27 PM

I can only say one thing about all this.

Ribbit.

"Send my best to Hinkley." :lolsign:

Seeing as how I don't keep up or bother with XBL Arcade games, will these titles be in HD resolution? :eyebrow:

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Jul 12, 2006 07:08 PM

All 360 games are available in HD.

Even the ones with old graphics like Frogger and Joust. They still look old, but they are in HD res, yes.

Newbie1234 Jul 13, 2006 05:23 PM

It's about time we got some release dates. I won't be buying any from the current list, but at least things are finally starting to pick up.

Good to see that Street Fighter is also going at 800 points, still steep, but bearable. Hopefully UMK3 goes for the same.

I did play Outpost Kaloki X, but it really wasn't my kind of game. Very nicely done game, though. As for Clyde, I think I'm looking forward to this more than street fighter.

Classic 2D action platformer gameplay meets The Lost Vikings style puzzle elements. 4 Player co-op. 8 Player death match.

I'm hoping this one is going to be a huge sleeper hit for Ninja Bee.

Kaleb.G Jul 31, 2006 02:55 PM

I haven't used my 360 for months, but I think I'm going to get back on it tomorrow and check out some of the new shit. I'll download some demos and see what I plan to get.

BIGWORM Aug 4, 2006 05:05 AM

I hate X360 owners out of sheer jealous. Castlevania: SOTN, one of my all time favorites, is going to be available on XBLA Q1 07:
