What is this license shit
 

So my friend sent me this video where Natalie Portman is suppose to rap. I'm like "Dude, WHAT". And I go and open it and it tells me that theres a license on it.

I've come across these fucking things time and again usually when I use to download giant amounts of pornography, but I digress and is there any way to get around them?

The show has taken a major dive in the past decade, I just stay clear of it altogether. There really isn't a need for television nowadays, with sites like youtube running. :p

It's DRM, or Digital rights management. I steer clear of WMA's when I'm after audio and WMV when I'm after videos.

If I'm not mistaken, you should be able to watch the video still with something like Media Player Classic.

Good thought - but its telling me I dont have the proper codecs now

Any WMV I've tried in Classic has worked fine, a few which I believe to have DRM.

If you can't play the file, ask your friend to send you the license if they have it. DRM is annoying, but it can always be bypassed given enough time and energy...
