E3 Anticipation Thread
 

E3 is coming up in a few weeks, what are your expectations? Are you anxiously awaiting a big PS3 reveal? Perhaps cherishing the thought of seeing some Revolution in action? MGS4? Are you waiting for Microsoft to announce Halo 3? Or perhaps you simply don't care?

Discuss.

Just MGS4. The diamond in the rough from last year, IMHO, was Shadow of the Colossus. I'd heard NOTHING of the game prior to that. I saw it on E3 then camped it out until release.

Any other games of that calibre coming out or being previewed? (unlikely~)

Not entirely sure, but I do think that Shadow of the Colossus was announced sometime prior to E3. I'm pretty sure that I had seen the first teaser for it before then, but I may be wrong of course.

I think he meant that in the surprise way: it could have been announced, but its E3 performance perhaps blew away expectations.

It sucks! I went last year and it was pretty bad, a good experience but from a NEWS stand-point, pretty bad. I was wished I went this year instead.

I'm hyped for Nintendo's E3 press conference.

They're announcing that they're leaving the industry.

E3's going to be awesome this year. Lots of titles and possibly a 28 second Twilight Princess trailer.

There isn't even going to be showgirls. Just nerds and games. It'll be like.. like..

Yeah, it sucks. It was pretty cool, some of them were hired from various Strip Joints around the city. Whores and Games, the perfect combination!

But last year, AGETEC scared the shit out of many people as well as me with their 'ANTI-BOOTH BABES'. I caught a glimpse of one of them when I was about to enter the Convention Center.

Right - because we didn't get to see the PS3 and X-Box 360 for more or less the first time. The ensuring hype was ridiculous. IMO, last year's E3 was fantastic.

I'm actually really curious to see what two games Squenix has been talking about recently. I hope one of them is a Chrono series game.

Dragon Quest 9 and Final Fantasy 13. Why get you're hopes up?

Because I like the Chrono series. I want me some Chrono Break.

Uh hello, Chrono Cross was pretty boring.

If they do a Chrono game, it'll be a bunch of new fagcast characters. That's what everybody doesn't want. Square are known for creating their not-so-Final Fantasy titles where every game is different, aside from a few Moogles and Chocobos.

And of course this means a Chrono sequel will suck, without the original crew. And it'll be in 3D. They wouldn't even go through with the 3D remake concept a bunch of fans had going on. I doubt absolutely anything will be recreated involving material from Trigger. The only realistic Chrono title I could see happening would be set in the Kingdom of Zeal, 1200's as a prequel.

Is Front Mission: Scars of War even *IN* E3? I'm fucking pissed off at how long Squenix is pushing it off.

If they were smart they would cel-shade the next Chrono game. That would be awesome.

Also - I enjoyed Chrono Cross. It was fun.

Stuff I personally want to see more of in this year's E3 is Maxis' Spore, and Game Freak's Pokémon Diamond/Pearl. We've barely been given much info on Di/Pl. Unfortunately, lots of the new monsters they've shown so far are crappy looking. What's with all the stupid pre-evos? I hope they show better ones soon.

As for Spore, I want to see what other critters you can make. If I had my way, I'd make an army of evil land sharks with huge teeth. Oh heck, might as well give them wings too! Dragon Fly wings would be awesome on my land sharks. Speaking of which, I'd also like to make a race of intelligent anthro ferrets. Yes, ferrets. Normal looking ferrets.

What will make this E3 good for me is all the Revolution news I've been waiting for since the last E3. I can't believe it's already been a year since then.

I want an image with a timer to the Nintendo Press Release countdown..but I dont know how to make it. :(

Being on-site and behind a computer, a zillion miles away are two different things. You got to sit your fat-ass all day long waiting to be fed with the latest news while I had to walk around and find it. Plus, the 360 was about to be released a couple of months after E3, so it was anyone's guess that MS would be ready with some really cool shit like hands-on demonstrations. They only had a 15 seconds NFS 360 demo and a stage from CONDEMNED playable, that's it. I even went to MS's booth to know why they didn't have anything playable and the Media Representative threw me some BS like 'We don't want to over-shadow our current line-up' which meant that they weren't ready and all there 'Demos', being played by various people from there respective company, were running on two Apple G5s.

Plus, there wasn't any GROUND-BREAKING news or show-stoppers. Not for me though. So all this is a personnal opinion.

E3 is a press event. Stop bitching.

Also, I'm not fat.

And what would be the purpose of that 'press event'?

Nintendo said they would reveal their Revolution.. atleast a form that is close to the release model. I also hope Sony gets rid of their goddamn boomerang controller.

Sony announced that it is going under a redesign, so, no need to worry.
