New Feature: ChocoRate - Rate Other Members!

Back by popular demand and the constanting bugging reminding by certain people (Miles), the User Rating system is back! I had to rewrite everything again from scratch even though the functionality is pretty similar to our previous version.

Here are some details about it:
  • You can disable ratings by going into User Options and scrolling to the bottom of the list.
  • You need at least 10 posts to start rating other members.
  • You need at least 4 ratings to view who rated you.
  • The entire ratings system is contained in the user's profile.
  • User ratings are displayed next to their post and in their profile if enabled.
  • A top rated members section will be added later on as ratings are given out.
Although I have tested this feature as much as I could there might be a few bugs remaining. Let me know if you find any! Enjoy!

I love you.

Also, I just rated you a five for that. Holler.

Free.User Jun 4, 2006 12:44 AM

Yay! I less than three bobo. I will rate you a 5, and Capo as well just for being in this thread.

Darkcomet72 Jun 4, 2006 12:45 AM

Yeah, I'm voting everyone in this thread a 5 just because.

bobo Jun 4, 2006 12:46 AM

Oh yeah, if you already gave someone a rating and you rate again, it just updates the rating you gave them!

Free.User Jun 4, 2006 12:48 AM

Awesome, you're on a roll, bobo!
Now for the "My Posts" link on the forum menu :).

Kairyu Jun 4, 2006 01:00 AM

What a surprise, I was wondering why there are 5 dots under my avatar.
Might as well start passing around 5 ratings while its fresh!

Oh yeah bobo, great job with all the additions so far!

neus Jun 4, 2006 01:05 AM

Awesome! ChocoPie and now this. bobo is on a roll =)

I like how you posted this at such an odd hour to avoid the drama that will ensue because of it. :tpg:

Miles Jun 4, 2006 01:07 AM

About time you installed this. Last crash we had it was installed before public registration was opened. =p

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Jun 4, 2006 01:12 AM

Thanks for this. But a quick suggestion, if I may.

Can you just....you know, not do that.

Popularity lists around here tend to create far too much shit. Remember "Most Viewed Journals"?

value tart Jun 4, 2006 01:16 AM

How come sometimes when I go to someone's profile to rate them it tells me I rated them a 5 already?

Also, thanks to this thread I know why I can't check who rated me. It's a little funky to have it just pop you back onto your profile without actually telling you what happened.

Sir VG Jun 4, 2006 01:24 AM

Indeed, the "You Rated" is very buggy yet. I rated you a 5, and it shows up on other profiles. Then when I rate somebody else some other rating (like a 1), the overall rating does go down, but the "you rated" does not change. It stays at whatever I rated the first person at.

Also, clicking 'remove' changes the overall rating and # of ratings properly but again the "you rated" is still messed up and doesn't disappear. At least you can't continually remove ratings from people until they're in the whole...

I also proceeded to view somebody's "who voted" list while there were only 3 people on it.

So, the "Who Voted?" link doesn't work at all on my Mac using both Safari and Firefox. It does, however, work in IE 5.2, which should tell you that there's something dreadfully wrong going on.

Besides the fact that I'm using a Mac.

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Jun 4, 2006 01:25 AM

Oh, one more thing if I may be a dink and ask for something.

Can the tooltip that appears when you hover over your rating change from whatever it currently is to how many votes you have, like it used to be?

Rockgamer Jun 4, 2006 01:33 AM

I don't know if this has anything to do with the ratings system, but what is this new 'Send a pager message to...' thing? Like, what does it do? I don't want to use it myself yet, since I don't know what it actually does.

value tart Jun 4, 2006 01:34 AM

Well, apparently bobo has added a feature called ChocoPager. Until he makes a thread, though, I'm holding off on my complaints about it.

EDIT - And just as quickly as it appeared, it's gone.

In that case, BOBO:

There's a typo! It should be "system"! :)

Well, apparently we can still send pages but just the "Pager messages" thing is gone. That's good anyway, it stretched the top bar farther than I'm used to seeing.

Me too. When I see it, I'm reminded of something shitty like yahoo... :(
I appreciate your efforts though, bobo.

EDIT What happened to ?

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Jun 4, 2006 01:39 AM

I've got a load of complaints about pager already.

value tart Jun 4, 2006 01:39 AM

Well, the thing about pages is that they're instantaneous and grab your attention. The PM dialog has never worked properly for me, Firefox always has blocked the damn popup so I have to click like 4 times to get to my PMs. So pages I'm already liking.

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Jun 4, 2006 01:42 AM

Fix your firefox. Just because your browser isn't configured properly doesn't mean we all have to suffer from this constant barrage of what's going to be insanity for a few days.

Did you add "http://www.gamingforce.com" to your pop-up whitelist?

THE POWER OF WATER Jun 4, 2006 01:49 AM

Okay, viewing ratings works now.

In that the pop-up comes up. Like VG, I can view the ratings of people who only have three.

FatsDomino Jun 4, 2006 02:05 AM

Hey how do we put links in our sig so we can have people rate us in there? You use to be able to do this.

Sir VG Jun 4, 2006 02:17 AM

http://www.gamingforce.com/forums/me...pdatedrating=1

Try the top link and see if it gives Acer a 5 rating.
Or try the 2nd and see if it gives him a 4.

Eleo Jun 4, 2006 02:41 AM

There's no way for me to know, since apparently I rated him a 2 no matter what.
