E3 Best of Show?

So, out of everything you've seen so far, which developer are you most impressed by? I won't go into detail, becuase everything has been discussed in depth in their respective subforums.

Comments?

Between the Wii, the games for it, and the new DS games, I have to go with Nintendo. Microsoft didn't have the wow of a new system, and the PS3's lineup wasn't enough to justify the system, so Nintendo stole the show for me.

J-Man May 10, 2006 11:18 PM

Nintendo did everything right this E3. They win internets.

Kickass new console, inovative controller, classic controller functionality (for conservative n00b types), virtual console (<3) and SmashfuckingBrothers Brawl.

I am completely satisfied, and then some.

Basil May 10, 2006 11:18 PM

Chose Nintendo, Not because of only SSBB and Uematsu composing the main theme, but also the chalkload of new games coming out. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon looks super sweet as well as Diddy Kong Racing DS.

I can't forget Super Paper Mario either. Nintendo completely kicked Microsoft and Sony's asses.

Stealth May 10, 2006 11:18 PM

MGS4 trailer. 'Nuff said.

Tails May 10, 2006 11:23 PM

Even if their presentation was subpar, at least I can tolerate and possibly have a decent conversation with their fans.

Sony for the win. Oh, and who has the kickass looking Gundam game? That's right, Sony.

GUNDAMUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Wall Feces May 10, 2006 11:26 PM

Nintendo for the obvious win.

I thought I saw a Gundam game for Wii too. It was either that or One Piece...

SketchTheArtist May 10, 2006 11:30 PM

As of right now, Nintendo all the way. Wii makes me feel like a little kid again!

Microsoft didn't really wow me, yet. I want Rare to show a kick-ass game instead of that kiddy shit they showed. They fucked-up Perfect Dark, Kameo wasn't all that and now Pinata. Blargh. I was happy with the Halo 3 announcement and Gears of Wars kicked my ass to next week! Still, like I said, there's no HUGE announcements or surprise.

As for Sony, well, they announced a system which has stuff I don't even need or want for a shitload of cash. They didn't show a lot, even talk a lot about the system. The online system they bragged about wasn't even adressed. There was no showstopper in the games departement. Sure, MGS4 looks great and is probably gonna play alright, but Sony didn't steal this years E3 by showing cut-scenes from a blockbuster game. Dissapointed, as I predicted.

So, yeah, Nintendo gave one hell of a kick in the crotch of the industry. Kudos.

There's also a Gundam game for the 360. But no one cares since they changed the name to Mobile Ops.

Clearly they changed it because the Gundam title on the PS3 is going to put that one to shame.

I just want to cut Zakus in half already, somebody needs to hurry that shit up.

Nintendo STOLE THE FUCKING SHOW AND HAD BONDAGE SEX, THAT IS ALL.

SUPER SMASH BROS. BRAWL WHAT?

SONIC WILDFIRE NOT SUCKING WHAT?!

MARIO GALAXY WHAT, WHAT?!

SUPER SMASH BROS. BRAWL FOR THE FUCKING WIN. Now I see why they didn't include it in the conference.

I'm a fanboy again :'D

Incorrect. They can make it look as nice as they want, but I assure you that game will be complete and utter garbage.

Sonic Team hasn't made a good 3D game in years, why in the hell is anybody going to start giving them the benefit of the doubt now? All that's different this time around is that they've got a new platform to blow ass on.

A good Sonic game? I'll believe it when I actually play it.

It's called Sonic Adventure Battle 2.

You don't create success by porting failure and making it look shiny.

"Hey guys you know that game we made that was horrible a while back? Well here it is again! Yeah, we updated some graphics and made it so you can link up with your GBA, but other than that we really didn't do much to improve over the original. Camera angles? Come on, that whole thing was just an urban legend, Sonic Adventure never had camera problems, never!"

Yggdrasil May 11, 2006 12:14 AM

Nintendo, Metroid Prime 3 and Twilight Princess were already very sweet. Sony had some good stuff like FF13 and MGS4, but Super Smash Brothers Brawl sealed the deal.

SketchTheArtist May 11, 2006 12:15 AM

Sonic Adventure was really good.

I'll give them benefit of the doubt since they made so much good Sonic titles in the past.

If it turns out bad, I won't buy it. Simple as that.

This line of logic is exactly why Sega continues to get away with stuff like Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog. They don't even have to try anymore, people will jump over one another to defend their shit.

Is it too much to ask that they actually put some effort into what they put out? I used to really look forward to new releases until I played what was essentially several different titles that were just slight upgrades of Sonic Adventure. :(

Solis May 11, 2006 12:26 AM

I wasn't really impressed by any of them. Nintendo's was pretty disappointing really, Microsoft didn't have all that many huge announcements but did have some nice trailers to show, and Sony's was kinda lackluster overall with the only highlight being the showing of third party games.

[s]You mentioned Smash Bros. twice and they still haven't announced anything yet.

They might be saving it for TGS.[/s]

EDIT: WHERE IS THE STRIKEOUT

Also, we know the Sonic on PS3 and 360 will suck based on screenshots alone. But could Sonic Wildfire be the one? The one to successfully unite 2D nostalgic elements with gameplay in a 3D environment and innovate with the controller in ways you couldn't imagine?

Wait until late 2007 when it's out and see.

You think I'd make that sort of statement without backing it up.

http://revolution.ign.com/articles/707/707191p1.html

So how about you read IGN's take on it. They hated Shadow as much as you. I'm even overlooking the whole rails deal if they're raving about it so positively.

Dopefish May 11, 2006 12:40 AM

E3 isn't over yet, kids...

I've seen it, but given their past track record I'll only believe it when I get to try it.

I'd love nothing better than for Sonic Team to prove me wrong and take Sonic back to his glory days, but they've been in the business of proving me right for quite some time now. This could very well be the one and I like how it looks, but how it plays is a different matter entirely.

Then stop waiting for the best game in the world. As I explained, they made some excellent games and may arrive with a killer title in the future, but right now, if the game turns out to be crap, I won't be surprised because I was expecting it.

Tails May 11, 2006 12:44 AM

When you continue to expect crap you're only to get crap. It's not like I want them to make the game to end all games here, I just want them to make something that's fun for more than thirty minutes.
