Worst Gaming Audio EVER
Fitting considering the roots of this forum, methinks.
Instead of focusing solely on lines of dialogue, this is for any kind of audio: weird sound effects, horrible music, as well as "Master of Unlocking" type lines. Easily, the worst lines come out of the "Japanese" reporter from Robot Alchemic Drive. That is some of the WORST Engrish ever and war more grating than anything out of any RE game. |
I think I experienced this yesterday was playing Viewtiful Joe and had to listen to this annoying warning message saying "Warning, a bomb has been planted" forever.
|
|
Skies of Arcadia had extremely annoying voices and sound effects in battle.
|
Star Ocean 2.
As awesome as the battles were in that game, those fucking voices made me hate getting into them. |

"Don't come! Don't soil your hands!"
"Slaves for fashion dislike buldges." "I can't hear you, the castle's falling." "If you can't hear me... I love you." "Hail alien duelist!" "Never forget the duty of an american. I pay taxes, work, and I always vote. This fight is for japan." Castle Shikigami 2 / Mobile Light Force 2 / Shikigami no Shiro II has the worst voice acting in the world. The game is awesome though, I have it for Dreamcast and Gamecube, both the japanese versions. But the port to america was terrible, and it shows. Even House of the Dead 2 cannot compete. |
Baten Kaitos for Gamecube, poor quality sound, which just makes you want to mute the game.

The new Sonic the Hedgehog Voice Actors. They're pretty bad, but then, they were never that great to begin with. In Sonic Hereos and before that, they were pretty good, but after that...
The New VA's sound very Generic and untalented. Especially Black Doom from ShTH. It makes you wish they just didn't talk at all sometimes. |

move there. And while I'm at voice actors, I'm going to say another bad one was Gundam Seed: Never Ending Tomorrow for the PS2. They're not bad at all, if I could even hear what they're saying half the time! The in-game sounds cover the very low quality character voices, so it's hard to pick them up. |
Jak and Daxter. The first game had the worst soundtrack I ever heard. Casio at its finest. The second game wasn't much better, but at least they finally decided to add music in the third one.

Also, the death sounds sounded very weird, orgasmic almost, and mixed with the bad voicesync it was just crazy... |
Bad Dudes for The Nes. Hearing the heroes say "I'm Bad" (if indeed that is what they were saying) is classic
|
Mega Man X7 had some good music, but the vast majority of the voiceovers of the main characters and Mavericks and such were just embarrassing to listen to.
"BURN! BURN! Burn-to-the-ground-burn-to-the-burn-to-the-BURN!!" "You punk you punk you punk you punk!!" And so on, and so on. Vanishing Gungaroo sounds like he gets a little too excited when you hit him with his weakness. |
Third Baten Kaitos, Zelha is the worst VA in the world, hands down. I could go on for pages with examples of the shit that comes out of her mouth. I hate the strained voice so very much.
Lyude is pretty annoying as well: "Sforzando!", as well as his other cheesy Itallian accented finishers. Samurai Legend Musashi's Musashi also had terrible delivery of Musashi's lines. What's up with the one-third-Japanese accent, one-third-English accent, one-third crap accent? |
Oh, God, yes, I second MMX7. An absolute embarassment to the series and the worst 3D version of a stellar 2D game ever. How the hell did they approve such annoying sound?
|
Those CDI Zelda games.
Just watching videos of it is good enough to make you stay as far away from them as possible. I mean, you have the atrocious voice acting, ultra cheesy lines, and, and...I'm sure the SFX sucks just as bad as..as...everything else. |
a recent example of bad audio that comes to mind is star wars battlefront 2 (great game though).
"we've gained a command post" "we've lost a command post" "the enemy has taken a command post" "we cant keep losing command posts" "we've taken a command post" repeat every 5 seconds. |
Final Mission for the NES has some of the best worst vocals I've ever heard from the soundchip.
"GETOFFTHEBUSSTOBUSUM" "Player's a bitc" "Destroy battkeship" It was so horrible I accidentaly dubbed it best vocals ever :D |

It's too bad you needed to hear almost all of the voice samples to unlock The Sound Test as well as Universal Difficulty. :( |
