My Computer Won't Connect To GFF
Here goes (this was excised from my thread at the inactive Serious Business Forums)....
Last week GFF was working just fine, but recently I have been unable to log on (and more recently connect to GFF at all). When I try to log on or view the site, I get either a vBulletin message telling me the server is too busy, a 404 error, or a blank page. It's not my PC, ISP or web browser, because when I use a proxy server, the site loads juts fine, though that only works well when not logged on; whenl I try to log on to GFF, it exhibits the same problems listed above (unless I use an anonymous proxy). It's probably on the GFF's (or the hosting company) server side or tied to my account/IP address. If I was banned, I assume I would have been told and so far (using a proxy server to view GFF) the threads don't say I have been banned or even warned about any action/punishment. I have tried using #gfchat on IRC, but that proved unhelpful and so did trying to email or IM the admins. If any GFF admins/mods could help me with this, I would be very greatful. |
This is just the Internet doing everyone a favor.

I think GFF kicks you off after 40 posts per day. Month ban or something. It's a new vB3.5 feature.

Have you ever considered why noone will help you. |

Hey guys be nice, it isn't his fault that we get annoyed at being inundated by his worthless posts.

Perhaps the forum thinks you're a website that is leeching info and/or bandwidth and is blocking you or somethin' because of your username. When did this start happening, dude? =o

Do you have a static or dynamic ip address? |

Spoiler:
Change your ip address to dynamic in your connection settings(Start -> Control Panel -> Network Connections) and set everything to automatic. If that doesn't help, check your IE settings/firewall settings. I easily denied GFF connetion priviledges on my work computer, in Zone Alarm, and spent 20 minutes one day figuring out what the hell happened. |
Does this happen on other sites, or only GFF?

Oh lol, man. Oh LOL.
Who even took the time to make this. Double Post: GASP. Who deleted the post that explained why this was happening? :O CONSPIRACY. |
The only logical answer is a stealth IP ban.
I am willing to donate further cash to GFF if the IP ban is extend to a username ban. |

GFF admins, why lie?? |
I didn't post it earlier, someone posted it above MY post and now it's deleted. I saw it last night and now it's gone.
CONSPIRACY. |

If this is the real casue of my troubles, then I'll use Tor until someone tries banning me, for not violating the rules of GFF. |

Face it Eleo was right otherwise they wouldn't have deleted that earlier post. Best bet is to use the proxy for now I guess, or switch to using a dynamic IP address, till they decide to take you off of the 'shit list'. |

That would be a PLUGIN OF THE GODS. Because some people (you) just don't get it. I mean, the only other option would be to just send you to cool.php |

I'll just Tor away until an Admin decides to tell me what their doing with my IP when I try to connect to GFF. EDIT: I'm only reopening this thread long enough to say that half of you were assholes and not helpful at all (consequently all you did is increase your postcount fucking hypocrites) and half actually gave me useful info. Thank you Eleo and others. You gave me good conclusions to the otherwise troll filled thread. |
