What is the funniest show of all time?
Im sorry if there has been something like this before but I want to see what all of you guys think of all of these funny shows and if there is a funniest show so I want you to tell me what you think the funniest show is
|
You mean television show?
|
crap i ment to make a poll but ya
|
A poll? For something this wide-reaching?
Marx Brothers win. Instantly now and forever. I'll lot them into this even if you don't see their cinema series & Vaudeville performances as such. |

I am sure if he somehow rephrased the topic a bit and put up a poll that this thread could become something. Maybe tell us what shows you like bradtheman? I also see your new here. Welcome :) |
Quite a few spring to mind but the two which stand out for me most are Blackadder and Father Ted, to put it bluntly I simply could not stop laughing.
|
I second Scrubs, possibly even my favorite TV show, maybe. It's so addictive to watch too. Often during school, I would watch an episode on my computer, and end up watching the rest of the episodes until the end of that particular season, no matter how many times I've done it. Love it. Family Guy if, of course, awesome too. But for funniest show of all-time, I can't say. I'm only familiar with shows of "this time."
|
I know it's not the most popular show, but I'm gonna go with Titus. I've never laughed out loud so much (watching it by myself, no less) while watching any other show (though Chappelle's Show came kinda close). I watched it on TV back when it first came on, yet I managed to enjoy it even more when I watched it on DVD. Hands down, if I could only watch one comedy for the rest of my life, it would be this one.
|
Didn't you already make a thread? Whatever. This is all subjective anyway. In my opinion, I enjoy Family Guy, but it really depends on how much TV you watch. In my case, very little. But from what I have seen of Family Guy (and my friend's DVDs) it's funny.
|
I think jackass would probably be on my top ten list also south park, mind of mencia, family guy, simsions, cheppelle show, ect...
|
Obviously, the first thing that comes to mind is "Chuckles Bites The Dust" from Mary Tyer Moore. From Answers.com
Chuckles Bites The Dust" (October 25, 1975) The ludicrous death of WJM's Chuckles the Clown, crushed by an elephant while dressed as Peter Peanut, provokes a torrent of black humor which has everyone in the newsroom but Mary convulsed in laughter. Mary's suppressed laughter comes out at an inopportune moment: at Chuckles' funeral. This episode was ranked #1 on TV Guide's The Greatest Episodes of All Time. |
Of english speaking shows, which people are most likely to have heard of, my favourites are "Blackadder", "Monty Python", "Fry and Laurie", "Mr. Show" and the first season of "I'm Alan Partridge". But which one's the funniest...nah, can't choose.

You could try searching. We have a nifty toolbar with a big ol' Search option right on it. You can look for existing threads all night! In the future, please don't plop down any old thread you can and proceed to apologize for any potential duplication issues just because you don't feel like doing a little research beforehand. Also, for the love of GOD, use punctuation! |
The episode of Taxi where Latka takes speed is by far the funniest thing I have ever seen in my life. It may have been cocaine, actually, but in any case, it was a type of drug that made him hyperactive, and I nearly died laughing.
It's hard to quantify humour, usually, but that episode really stands out. Taxi has always been a favourite series of mine, and I don't think they did a better episode than that. I'd also nominate several M*A*S*H episodes for an honourable mention. That show could be either bland, or brilliant, but some episodes really stick out. Usually anything with Colonel Flag in it, but my favourite is the one where they had to acquire a new incubator. |
I have to admit Soluzar, M*A*S*H is damn funny with Colonel Flag... I blame you if that's what I'm watching tomorrow...
As for sheer hilarity, I think Father Ted is completely side-splitting; I don't think I'll ever forget the episode "Night of the Nearly Dead" as long as I live. Just for honourable mention because they are that brilliant - Black Books is also genius IMO, as are Spaced and The Mighty Boosh (Nanageddon comes to mind as I type). Faulty Towers has never failed to make me laugh, and the same applies to Frasier (I think my favourite episode so far would have to be the one where they employ the plumbers who used to be their bullies). I think I actually prefer Futurama to the Simpsons, which I suppose is quite an odd thing... Also, who could ever forget Red Dwarf? Incredible show, just incredible. |
i'm all for hogan's heroes or possibly one of the newer shows that are out-the name escapes me at the moment. All i remember was the episode where a guy died in their bar and they didn't know what to do about the booth he died in, so they just hosed it out. Also the one with the jewish guy owning half of their bar and they make a fake jihad video to get him out.

Arrested Development.
Hands-down, the funniest sitcom ever created. Never a bad episode. So many constant clever jokes, incredibly distinct characters (G.O.B. and Tobias are probably two of my all-time favorite television characters), and enough room for some real emotional development. The running gags that pop up constantly reward the hardcore crowd, while narration and flashbacks help bring newbies up to speed. I think after that comes Seinfeld, then everything else is a distant third. |

AD is the shit, although I have yet to see season 3. Does anybody know if Showtime or another network picked them up?
Another show that I'd consider to be among the funniest: The Adventures of Pete and Pete: This one might be up there primarily for nostalgic reasons, but I still find it extremely funny. "I... am... a... NIGHTCRAWLER!!!!!" |

I'd have to say the show that gets the most laughs consistantly out of me is Fawlty Towers, even after seeing each episode several times.
If we're talking show's currently on the air, i'd have to say Odd Job Jack is pretty hilarious. Anybody outside of Canada won't know it, i'm pretty sure. It's a Canadian creation featuring the misadventures of Jack Ryder, a man who does every job in the country at least once, and the hilarity therein. It's quite good, i suggest you all give it a dl. Who's Line Is It Anyway still makes me laugh out loud regularily. There are some episodes i will never forget, i.e.e the opera episode when Wayne and Jeff sang a rehersed sounding opera peice. It was quite something else. |
I'd say Whose Line Is It, Anyway? is the show that consistently makes me laugh. The funniest episode of it, EVER, was the one featuring Richard Simmons. If you haven't seen it, go find it somewhere (I don't know if it's on YouTube or Google Video, or anything like that). You will Laugh Your Ass Off.

UK shows: Blackadder, Bottom, Not Only But Also, Q, Till Death Do Us Part/ In Sickness & In Health, Steptoe & Son, Hancock's Half Hour, The Young Ones, Mr Bean, Goodness Gracious Me, Father Ted. Maybe missed a few.

I always thought American Dad, Family Guy & Futurama were hilarious. But that's just me. :D

-goes off to try and find it- |
I think Seinfeld is one of the best out there. One of my favourite moments are in no particular order:
- The Race, when Jerry tells Elaine what happened back in High School. - The Marine Biologist, when George has his monologue at the end and when Jerry keeps interupting him saying that the whale is a mamal. And Kramers expression at the end, priceless. - When George tells Jerry what will happen if Relationship George meets Independent George. I know there are alot more moments, but these are the ones i can come up with now. I'll post again if i come up with other moments. |

Also like Sal I must show my support for The Young Ones, Mr Bean and Goodness Gracious Me. To be honest I've never really been a big fan of American comedy or American television altogether for that matter, but I do like Frasier and Scrubs along with a select few other comedies. |
Someone already mentioned who's line is it anyways. Every episode has something that make me break out in tears. I remember when Ryan Styles broke the light bulb with his head and he tried to play it off like a proffesional ^_^
I saw the Robin Williams episode as well, it seems like he was deperately trying to keep all the attention to himself |

About what I said before about these three shows the episodes that made me think they were the funniest shows of all time were: American Dad- The First episode (Can't remember the episode title)- Just watching Stan trying to help his son win a student election was so damn funny. Family Guy- Road To Rhoad Island - The Road To Rhoad Island song was hilarious when Stewie was in drag. O_o Futurama- How Hermes Requisitioned His Groove Back (That was title & how it was spelled, right?) The song Hermes sang near the end was pretty damn funny considering how serious Hermes is about his job. |
i say gato fedorento of portugal,if you know a lot of portuguese(like me) watch it fast!!!!,the second season is the best out of the four
|
Titus, Family Guy, Futurama, Tripping the Rift and the Venture Brothers are all up there for my picks. Man, I don't think I've ever come as close to death from laughter as when watching these shows.
|
Well, since AD and Seinfeld have already been mentioned (by the same person no less) I'm going to go with Andy Richter Controls the Universe.
Props to anyone who were able to watch it while it was on the air, cause I couldn't consistently keep up with the series, but the eps I did see were simply awesome. The cuts to Andy's imagined scenarios were teriffic, and often had me roffling. I wish they'd release it to DVD, so I can see all the episodes. |
i personally think family guy and futurama but i guess others will think differently
zoidberg rules! |
mad tv cause there was this one episode where i literaly cried laughing. Although above all i'd go for family guy or SNL when criss farly was in it with adam sandler and all the other guys. Also I second the zoidburgh shout out. "you lost the girl of your dreams but you still have zoidburg...you all have zoidburg!"
|
Mad TV, The Simpsons, Seinfeld, The Royal Canadian Air Farce, Ren & Stimpy. I loved all those shows. Fresh Prince of Bel-Air also had a lot of funny moments.

I found a new show that I like a lot, but I have the feeling I might be the only one. That Mitchell and Webb look. It's got this endearing charm to it and it makes me laugh so much. |
Futurama probably is up there because I get it.
Honorable mentions go to: - Red Dwarf - Simpsons - Everybody loves Raymond (I can't help it!) Gawd I need Red Dwarf on DVD |
Wow noone likes "Whos Line Is It Anyways"?
Well i like Whos Line Is It Anyways, Futurama and Family Guy |

I think at this moment south park is the funniest thing ever.
I'm watching the newest episode and it turns out that its based on world of warcraft. So damn funny ^_^ "we are dealing with someone that has no life" |

Seinfeld, Whose Line Is It Anyway (USA version), The Simpsons, South Park, Drawn Together, Family Guy; all quality shows IMO which are always worth a laugh. Oh, and I do believe season 3 of Drawn Together is starting to air in the USA tonight? Lucky bastards.
|
3 stooges for me please
whilst I agree with the earlier comment about the Marx Borthers, no better comedy for me came from anyone else but the stooges. with the ultimate zingers and slapstick humor, it was eye pokingly funny.
I kind of feel the stooges and the marx brothers were tied for zingers. how about you guys? |
