What do you put on your burgers?

And that's about it really, I never really go for cheese, lettuce, tomato, that kind of thing.

What do you put on your burgers? What do you think it says about you?

knkwzrd Jul 21, 2006 11:21 PM

Generally, I just go with a slice of cheese, and caramelized onions if available. I'm not a big fan of the texture of raw onions, and cooking them deals with that nicely.

Same here interestingly, but I'd also add black pepper and a thin smear of mayonnaise. If there are pickles, lettuce, and tomatoes available, I tend to have them on the side and not in the burger.

Kolba Jul 21, 2006 11:34 PM

Hey I forgot about Onions, yeah, sometimes I have those too, plain and fried.

Freelance Jul 21, 2006 11:37 PM

I only put the following with my burgers: lettuce, ketchup, tomatoes and sweet pickles. Don't dig anything else. Now I feel like having one...

Rockgamer Jul 22, 2006 12:19 AM

Bacon, cheese, and some kind of sauce (ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, etc) is all I need on my burger. I really hate having all that vegetable stuff on them, and when I get it from a fast food place I just pick all that stuff out.

Fatt Jul 22, 2006 12:19 AM

I love to sautee diced green peppers and diced white onions to start. After they are soft enough, I like to mix them in the ground beef, with some seasoning salt. With a good stuffed patty cooked medium rare, I love to toss on some lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, and bleu cheese. No condiments. Now that is my favorite burger.

Sakabadger Jul 22, 2006 03:52 AM

I'm really simple so I'll tend to be satisfied with some lettuce, some cheese, and the usual condiments. If some more care is being placed into the preparation though, I also like adding onions (cooked or raw are both fine) or some more garnishes like bacon or tomatoes.

kat Jul 22, 2006 04:11 AM

Lettuce, Tomatoes, Ketchup, Pickles, Bacon, Caramelized Onions.

I'm not a big sauce freak, although BBQ on burgers is decent at times.

TheKnightOfNee Jul 22, 2006 07:01 AM

Cheese and lettuce are pretty much a necessity. I usually put pickles and tomatoes on there too, but that's where I stop with vegetables, as I'm not a fan of peppers or onions in any form. Bacon is another nice topping, but I don't always go for it as it isn't the healthiest of things. As for sauces, I mix and match ketchup, mustard, and mayo, or I forget those and put on some BBQ sauce. Mmm, BBQ.

Domino Jul 22, 2006 07:25 AM

Cheese is good, as are onions. I occasionally use relish. I've had bacon with burgers once or twice. Other than that I've not had any other toppings on my burgers.

Sarmoti Jul 23, 2006 10:20 PM

If we have it, A1 sauce and Onions.

Retriever II Jul 23, 2006 10:37 PM

I like cheese, sometimes bacon, but aside from that, I like my burgers plain. It bugs me when I go to a fast food joint and they come dripping in mayo, ketchup, mustard, etc. The added benefit to ordering plain in that scenario is they have to make it up as your order it.

If the burger is larger, like in a restaurant or what I'd cook at home, I'll use some ketchup, and maybe some lettuce.

Dee Jul 24, 2006 12:19 AM

I dislike raw onions, they're just spicy! But cooked onions, for sure. Also lettuce, tomatoes, ketchup, spinich. I try to make it healthy but I know in the end it's not.

nazpyro Jul 24, 2006 12:21 AM

I prefer my burgers pretty plain as well as I don't like vegetables. Bread, meat, cheese, maybe bacon, ketchup, and maybe mustard. I'll take lettuce and tomatoes sometimes, but definitely avoid onions and pickles.

gidget Jul 24, 2006 12:43 AM

I had a delicious burger today. It had diced green chilies, monterey jack cheese and lettuce. Normally, though, I just have ketchup, mustard, lettuce and some type of cheese.

WraithTwo Jul 24, 2006 01:03 AM

Cheese, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Ketchup AND Mustard, dill pickles and bacon. I don't always eat the same burger of course, this is just probably my favorite way to eat one.

scotty Jul 24, 2006 11:08 AM

I usually have mustard and ketchup, cheese, bacon, lettuce, and onions. I hate tomatos and pickles on my hamburger so I always pick them off. Sometimes I cook some hot dog weiners, slice them in half and shove them on my burger.

BlueEdge Jul 24, 2006 11:12 AM

mmm...i like bacon, cheese, a bit of mayo, smokey bbq sauce, lettuce, a bit of chopped onion.

Alice Jul 24, 2006 11:23 AM

I have very specific burger requirements. They need to have habanero jack cheese, habanero sauce, green leaf lettuce (NOT iceberg), red onions, and bacon. On a whole wheat bun.

Sometimes I put some potato chips on there, too.

Now I'm hungry. ;_;

Minion Jul 24, 2006 11:40 AM

I've been thinking of experimenting with burgers. Seems like a thing that you could add just about any spice or condiment to and it would taste okay. Anyone ever have a curry burger?

Alice Jul 24, 2006 11:40 AM

No, but I guarantee you it would be good.

Your mouth can actually stand that level of spiciness? I needed water after having just a drop of habanero salsa. I doubt I could stand a burger full of it.

Anyways, for me. I mainly like plain burgers but I cook it (and basically soak the meat) with worchester sauce. That gives me enough flavor to enjoy it with just cheese.

When I get adventurous one day, I'll try it with Onion Rings and Salmon...yeah, Salmon...

I've yet to try anything that was too spicy for me that was actually meant to be consumed. There's this stuff called Dave's Insanity Sauce that I can't eat, but I don't really think it was meant to be eaten.

And for some reason, the salmon doesn't sound bad at all.

Paco Jul 24, 2006 03:33 PM

I actually season and press my own patties with Pappy's Seasoning, coarse ground pepper, diced onions and garlic and usually make them anywhere from a 1/3 lb. to a 1/2 lb. each. As for toppings, I usually go with the usual: lettuce, onions, swiss cheese and either A-1 steak sauce or a ketchup and mustard classic.

A friend of mine Jon is always in search of someone who can consume Dave's Insanity Sauce. He even keeps a bottle in his car if he ever finds a challenger. Everyone I've seen actually take it on, has turned beet red and sweated a bucket, and they haven't had more than a teaspoon. As much as I love a jar of pickled jalapenoes, I don't dare touch the stuff.

BlueEdge Jul 24, 2006 05:10 PM

lol putting fries on your burgers pretty fun too. how about putting anothe burger ontop of your burger >=)

Paco Jul 24, 2006 08:32 PM

I think they call that a "Double Quarter Pounder", but good job picking that up, chief.

JazzFlight Jul 24, 2006 09:02 PM

When talking about homemade burgers...

I used to go for lettuce, pickle, onion (if available), tomato, and ketchup (feel free to add american cheese slice, too) on a hamburger bun.

However, since I'm on a diet, I usually just have the veggies above with a lot of mustard instead of ketchup on two slices of "light bread" toast.

Living Legend Jul 24, 2006 11:37 PM

My hamburgers usually consist of just lettuce, Bacon, mayo, ranch dressing, cheese, and katchup. Nothing to interesting. I sort of tired myself of Hamburger after eating one at Denny's, it pretty much got me sick and tasted like sausage.

Off topic a bit, a bunch of friends and myself had a contest to see who could eat a whole habanero pepper, I can't even stand tobasco, so I pretty much said "screw that contest" but they went on with it. After they ate it, there was a lot of puking and a friend had to be brought to the hospital because of eating one and she passed out.

Spyer Jul 24, 2006 11:40 PM

Usually...... ketchup, mustard, mayo, lettuce, onions, pickles, and maybe some hot sauce or barbaque sauce. Oh, I love those burgers.

lol speaking of which...anyone try those new Burger King Stackers? They look like death in a package to me. If you don't know what they are, its basically a burger with cheese, bacon and a patty (i don't know if there's sauce, probably) and then you can stack on more patties, more bacon and more cheese. The highest they showed on the commercial was 3 patties. Sounds deathly.

Chaotic Jul 25, 2006 09:22 AM

I could've sworn it was four patties, but still. I'll be willing to try one, but I'll only go as far as two. I'm not ready to accept my death thtat quickly.

As for just normal burgers... Ketchup, lettuce, onions. That's it.

Is Burger King trying to be like In 'N Out, now?

Kids at school would get 4 x 4's from In 'N Out, but I have no idea how they could eat those things.

vuigun Jul 25, 2006 04:50 PM

I'd tried the new Stackers from Burger King. It's quite sad actually. It's not really "big" since the patties are like a third smaller. I didn't enjoy it due to some kind of sauce I think was in it.

And worst of all, I didn't taste "Love" in every bite. Manufactured by midgets, indeed.

Summonmaster Jul 25, 2006 06:52 PM

I preferred my burgers plain because I thought I didn't like anything, but I realized that lettuce and tomato were fine with me. I really loathe relish and mustard for sure though, and if I get anything else by accident I can stomach it.

Demon Arashi Aug 1, 2006 11:37 PM

Usually just mustard and a few strips of turkey bacon lately, but I wouldn't mind some new spices. Any suggestions on hot sauces with a good kick to them?

The highest BK Stacker is 4 patties, though I'd most likely add one when I got it home. :)

Such a Lust for Revenge! Aug 2, 2006 04:56 PM

Man, there are no fucking Burger Kings where I´m at. Damn it. I could sure fuck up THREE Whoppers right now. Minimum. Burger King has this sauce called Salsa Del Sol I love putting on those damned things.

I usually go with the works on any burger, except not so much mayo. If I feel wacky I like some ranch on there too.

It's not REALLY the same thing since you can't really built a potentially infinite burger stack like you can at In N' Out.

4x4's are awesome though! Even if I never did finish one myself. :p

Shit... I saw some kid from my old high school build himself an 18-patty burger. He's probably dead by now. :tpg:

Demon Arashi Aug 2, 2006 06:42 PM

18 patties?!? Ohmigod, that's eating a heart condition!

Yeah, but they're still trying.

When it was election time for next year's ASB at school, a junior that was running for Class President ate a 7x7 in a minute (for the class of '07). I think he ended up winning, but, man, that thing looked deadly. I can't even imagine what an 18 patty burger would look like, or how one would go about eating it.

I remember seeing a link here a few years ago, maybe in the sewers, showing pictures of this fat fucker eating a 10plus pattie burger at In´n´Out. Ate the whole thing. Not sure if that´s the same thing you people are talking about though.

Paco Aug 3, 2006 11:04 PM

It's probably not. This cat was a skinny suburban white kid. A stoner to boot, which now that I think about it pretty much explains the 18 patties. =o

Oric Aug 8, 2006 08:12 PM

Pickles, tomatoes, onions, mustard, lettuce. Ketchup in small amounts is fine. Mayonnaise tastes like abortion.

Paco Aug 9, 2006 04:09 AM

How you know what an abortion tastes like is.... You know what? I'll take your word for it. :/

YO PITTSBURGH MIKE HERE Aug 9, 2006 02:07 PM

I've eaten 9 JBCs when stoned. True story.

Visavi Aug 9, 2006 02:40 PM

I don't eat hamburgers that often, but when I do I mostly put a little seasoning salt and some ketchup on the burger. I've experimented a little bit and have put barbecue on it along with bacon and cheese, but I don't think that combination will ever meet again...at least, not b/c of me. However, I do like bacon and cheese on a burger. And I love barbecued burgers cooked on a charcoal grill.

galador Aug 9, 2006 10:24 PM

When I have burger, I usually just have Mayonaise and cheese, though sometimes I'll include some Barbeque Sauce into the mix.

Void Aug 16, 2006 12:28 AM

I usually go with some kind of sauce, currently in the burgers I make I use honey mustard. I love big buns, always whole grain for that hearty taste. I want my burgers to be real filling. I put as much tomatoes and lettuce as I can. I also add pickles [a must] and raw onions. That's what I usually add because I don't have to cook anything [besides the burger.]

If I had the time, I'd add cooked pieces of mushroom, zucchini, and any other vegetable I can find. I'd just pack it with all sorts of shit and eat it because I'm fat and love food.

DragoonKain Aug 16, 2006 04:56 PM

I either get chili cheese burgers or I get them with american cheese lettuce and ketchup. I'll also eat a bacon cheese burger with BBQ sauce. I like pizza burgers with fried onions as well. I hate mayo, raw tomatoes, and raw onions, so those are no-no's for me.

goldeneye2131 Aug 16, 2006 05:07 PM

I'm very particular about what goes on my burgers, as I prefer American Cheese, Lettuce, Tomatoes, a good amount of Ketchup, and a spot of Mustard

I sometimes will opt out of eating a burger if one of the key ingredients are missing, although I can go without the cheese with no problems whatsoever.

Dan1500 Aug 22, 2006 06:22 PM

Theres something my mum does when cooking a burger. Basically freshly made burgers in a huge bun with a thick slice off cheese melted onto it, a big chunk of cucumber, lettuce, tonnes of mayo and ketchup and mustard, with slightly fried onions and tomatoes. It is the hardest thing to eat ever. Its so fat that it actually looks like what macdonalds burgers are like in their advertising, very tall and packed with toppings. But we all know how often a burger comes from macdonalds and isnt just mush in a polystyrene tray...

Desert Penguin Aug 23, 2006 04:32 AM

When I have home-made burgers, I put things like Chicken breast, tomatoes, hummus, cheese, pickles and such.

Come to think of it, I used to HATE pickles in burgers when I was a kid. Nowadays I cannot resist pickles. :)
