New Feature: Who Quoted Me?

http://www.gamingforce.com/bobo/whoquoted-example.gif

I have re-added the Who Quoted Me tracking system. This means that anyone who is quoted starting from the time of this post will be able to view who quoted them and where! There is nothing new you need to do, just keep quoting other people the way you used to and the tracking system does the rest!

To access the Who Quoted Me? page, go into your User CP and in the left menu, click "Who Quoted Me?"

http://www.gamingforce.com/bobo/whoquoted-cp.gif

Note that the system does not include quotes made prior to the start of the tracking which is pretty much the time of this post.

Let me know if you run into any problems. Enjoy!

Does this operate by detecting usage of the "quote" button underneath the user's avatar? Or will it still work if I use quote tags, and manually type in the name?

scotty Jul 19, 2006 10:59 PM

YES! now this thread will be full of people begging to have sex with bobo

It works either way.

So what about if I select the quote button, but fiddle with your name?

Sorry, I'm very inquisitive.

The tracking system does a regular expression pull on the quote then does a lookup via the name. This means if you change the username, then either the quote system will not track it (if the user does not exist) or use that person's username.

But seriously, glad to see this great feature come back. Thanks a bunch, bobo!

Free.User Jul 20, 2006 01:23 AM

This place is finally starting to look familiar. [generic]Thanks alot, bobo![/generic]

Musharraf Jul 20, 2006 01:34 AM

This is fantastic and I am glad that this very important feature is finally back!

Kairyu Jul 20, 2006 01:53 AM

It seems bobo is on a roll =D.

Awesome, are we still missing any old features? And of course I'm not counting the gender icons, HP/MP/EXP bars, or the job class thingy.

The first time you made this, it didn't work on light set for some reason. Does it work in light set now?

...do we even have a light set anymore?

Testing quoting Qwarky.

I am pleased at the return of this feature. I have missed it as though it were a dear friend.

Dark Nation Jul 20, 2006 01:50 PM

I'm glad this finally returns. Now I have something else to click in earnest.

bobo's mouse icon is like SUPER FUTURE HIGH TECH ZOMG SLEEK, n' stuff.

Chaotic Jul 20, 2006 02:51 PM

Weird reasons, I liked this feature... Not like people ever quoted me though, but it's still a nice feature. <_<

Like everyone else i'll add the generic:

Thanks, bobo.

Agent Marty Jul 20, 2006 06:18 PM

Thank the Lord, it's finally back.

Summonmaster Jul 20, 2006 08:10 PM

Yahoo! Now I can check in vain if anyone actually read what I typed :)

Ooh...4 already ;)

Elixir Jul 20, 2006 10:32 PM

This is great, except for when people talk about you, and aren't quoting you. In that case, I just find searching the forums for your own username displays people's posts easier.

Unless your name is "carrot" or "fuck" you won't have a problem.

value tart Jul 20, 2006 10:32 PM

Well, yeah, you'll still need to do the occasional search, as before. But Who Quoted Me? Is much more convenient.

Inhert Jul 20, 2006 10:47 PM

hmmm I think there's a little bug with it

like I just check and I saw:

Sassafrass - Jul 20, 2006 - 01:22 PM - Reported post in : IMPORTANT: Stickies are IN YOUR FACE.

but when I click on the post I get this message:

Inhert, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?

2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

I think this may be cause by the Sass to have delete his post, but shouldn't they disapear from the "Who quoted me?" list?

Elixir Jul 20, 2006 10:49 PM

From what I can tell, Sass quoted you in a report message, and since you're not an admin you can't see that page.

value tart Jul 20, 2006 10:52 PM

I believe it's because the post isn't completely gone from the database, it's simply been moved to a forum that only staff can view.

kat Jul 20, 2006 10:55 PM

Thank you! :)

That might be because it displays quoted posts in forums that you don't have any permission to view (as in, it needs permissions checking.)

That all depends on how the reporting system works, of course. I don't know if it sends PMs to the mods, or if it actually creates a "post" in a special area or something.

Inhert Jul 20, 2006 11:03 PM

oh I see XD now I wonder what she report on me on that post >.>

Bigblah Jul 20, 2006 11:06 PM

I guess bobo has yet to implement forum permissions checking =/

Your signature. It leans toward the 75KB side of the 50KB/75KB divide, which is over the official officially approved and sanctioned 50KB limit. You should fix it, and reduce it to 50.1KB so she'll report it again.

In that case, I'm surprised she hasn't reported Skills' signature, which is 73 kb but 75154 bytes. Oh my god.

How would you know what she has or hasn't reported?

Inhert Jul 20, 2006 11:16 PM

hmmm I put 75k because I read that now 75kb was the new limit >.> it's just so confusing in the sig thread that I don't know wich one is official now
