How much can you eat at a buffet?
Just wondering.
4-5 rounds is max for me. |
What is this, a fucking boxing match? Can you go 12?
Two plates and some processed ice cream in a silver cup are more than enough for me. |
Well I went to a sushi buffet with my friend and we had an eating contest. I got to 54 pieces and couldn't go any further. At a regular buffet I'll usually have 3-4 plates of food, but I put a lot on each plate.
|
1-2 plates plus some fruit tends to be my max. The second plate is usually never filled as I just sample the other dishes I didn't get the first time.
|
I doubt I've ever made it past two plates. And if I have room for it, maybe a dessert.
|
Usually about three plates/rounds. The order goes as follows: salad, entree/sides, and second helping. Sometimes I can only l can only eat two plate-fulls.
|
At this expensive buffet near me, which costs 30 bux per adult for dinner, I literally ate like a Roman. I have ate so much that I've gone outside, threw some up, came back in and ate some more.
|
I usually have 2-3 plates depending on what type of food that's being offered. Oriental food is preferred.

It really depends on what type of buffet it is.
Like, there is this awesome chinese restaurant that has an AYCE seafood buffet, and I can manage to eat about 6 plates worth of seafood and other chinese nummies. Other buffets of lower quality however, I usually only last about 2-3 trips. And I am 5'11", and weight 115 lbs. on a GOOD day. ;_; |
I always have these grand plans of eating until I can hardly walk because I FREAKING LOVE FOOD, but then when it comes down to it, I can usually only eat one helping. =/
|
I usually only go to Chinese Buffets when I get the chance. I usually get about 3 plates of food and then I'm done. Sometimes I will add ice cream at the end to top off the meal when I am done.
|
My variety is a little weak when it comes to buffets. Usually it's a plate of General Tso's, Boneless Spare Ribs, and some rice... Two plates of that, then some ice cream. Depending on what else they have, I might add that too. Afterwards, I get some ice cream then i'm good. Despite my weight, I can't eat alot at buffets, unless it's a party and then I could eat time to time.
|
It depends on the buffet, but on average it's 2-4 plates and then a plate of dessert (or a cup of ice cream). It also depends on how hungry I am - if I haven't eaten all day I can go 5 or 6.
|
I hate buffets because I always feel that I'm wasting my money. 2 trips, 3 tops if I'm hungry and some desert.
God I feel ill just thinking about it. |
The Chinese buffet nearby is pretty cheap and I can usually manage 3 main dishes fine, followed by a shitload of banana fritters. Even when I think I can't eat any more I can never get enough of those.
|
I love Chinese buffets. I usually get around 3-4 plates with the last 1 or 2 fruit and dessert. I can't get enough of those donuts.
|
I usually eat 4-6 rounds, not including dessert, which I always have at least one round of. I'm all about eating the most I can for my money. The last two Chinese buffets I went to were awesome, one here (MD) and one in Las Vegas a couple of months ago. Sooo good.

I love the Chinese buffet too! I usually go for the baked salmon and apple pie. =)

I love Chinese Donuts and Cheese Wontons... Chinese restaurants are always fun, especially when they have lots of different kinds of food. There's a restaurant called Red City, it's mostly Chinese but they have something of a Mongolian grill as well as sushi there and both of those is included in the buffet...so good... |
How many plates I eat really depends on where I go to pig out. I can eat two plates at a Chinese buffet, but only one plate and maybe some dessert at the local country food buffet. I normally don't even go to buffets because I just can't seem to eat as much food as I pay for.
|
I usually only eat about 3-4 full plates of food, and about two plates worth of dessert. The reason I don't eat more is because the food at buffets usually suck, and I can't stomach that much cheap food. However, if the food was better, I could probably easily go for about 5-6 plates of food, and about 2-3 plates oo dessert.
|
Despite my being HUEG, I don't do a lot of the buffet gorging.
If its Chinese, I eat maybe 2 plates. None of that bullshit ice cream crap. Otherwise, I don't do too many buffets. Sometimes we'll do brunch buffets, but thats a complete waste of money on me. Breakfast shit makes me pretty nauseous, so I usually stick to coffee and muffins. |
The only buffet that I eat at often is the breakfast buffet at Frisch's. I'd say when I go I normally have about three plates of food. One full of pancakes, one of biscuits and gravy, and one full of eggs and sausage. Sometimes if I'm really hungry I'll go back and grab some of the fruit they have laying out.
As far as all you can eat goes, when the Red lobster has it's all you can eat shrimp I'll eat anywhere from four to five plates of deep fried shrimp. |
I can't fit much in my stomach to be honest, although I try. Especially to make my money's worth (shakes fist at sushi buffet prices). 2 plates at least of sushi. I try.
|
Oh, I have eaten over 2lbs at a buffet. Never put me in one of those places again or I might rupture my stomach.
|
I'm a fricken glutton when it comes to buffet. It's usually 7-8+ rounds for me. But hey, I'm 5'8 and 139lbs, who knows..
|
I can only usually eat 1-2 plates that are barely full. Of course this seriously irritates the person that's paying for it because they feel I didn't eat their money's worth. I just can't bring myself to gorge on food like it's no tomorrow.
|
There's this brilliant place called the Shady Maple in Pennsylvania, in Amish country, that serves really great food. And that night was Prime Rib night on the grill. This place is HUEG LIKE XBOX - think football field. Then fill it with tables and chairs. So, I got some salad, got two helpings of Prime Rib (sooo tasty), then went back for two more variety plates. Then two desserts.
That's my current record. I usually do at least three and a dessert now. |
Looks like three plates is starting to be the standard, and that's about right for me too. But there's one cardinal rule about Championship Buffet Eating that you should all note.
BUNNY FOOD DOES NOT COUNT. Oh no, those salads don't count to the plate count. Plate count involves MEATY, GREASY, MAN FOOD. |
Chinese buffets are on of my weaknesses, but even then I can never seem to eat a lot. 2, sometimes 3 plates if I haven't had anything else to eat during the day, is really all I could manage, no matter how delicious it is. I also find that it isn't anything you should do to often, since the food will get boring rather quickly.
|
;___; two bowls...yeah. i don't eat much, i'm a wasteful person too...
@_@ it's cause i'm a chick, I swear |
Not much at all. It's cheaper for me if I just buy a meal. If I go to a buffet I will only eat a few sides and a little dessert.
|
Like most I can eat up to 2 plates. It does depend on the volume of the food. If it's a BBQ buffet i could probably only handle one plate. Seafood type, I could maybe eat 2 or three plates.
I don't pile food up on my plates and my first serving is usually a sample round. Yeah, i waste money at buffets. |
Two plates for me is the max, with a small bowl of Cookie Dough ice cream.
|
I'm weird and I tend to eat all I can eat at that current point in time, that's often why they call these exciting food crap factory deals 'all you can eat'.
|
I don't go to buffets often. But the most recent place I remember visiting as a buffet was Pizza Hut. The current record I can handle was 12 slices of pizza (they're small), 8 bread sticks (even smaller ._.), and a glass of water. But my other, larger friend chucked down over 25 slices of pizza and a unknown amount of bread sticks.
I stopped eating at Pizza Hut's buffet for a few years after that incident. But if we're talking about chinese buffets the most I can take is two plates. Its probably not my money's worth but that's why I don't regularly visit those places. |
If I'm really hungry 2 plates max. I prefer a little dessert after... it's like my reward for finishing my plate...
|
I always win at the all you can eat shrimp at Sizzlers @_@
I can have about 12 servings of shrimp w/ a bowl of ice cream and maybe 3 pieces of cheese bread. I dont usually eat a lot and it doesnt look like I do... but when it comes to that thing at Sizzles... OMG^^ I love it |
Shit, I avoid buffets like the plague unless I feel like being a cow and eating until I burst... otherwise I can go some where else and get full on 1/2 the price.

Far too much... Even though I can shovel down 6 or so trips, I try to limit myself to 3, because I'm trying to eat healthier :P (It's not like I get to a buffet often anyways, maybe once or twice a year)

I don't always finish everything on the plate. |

That's my problem though, I do :P I feel bad if I leave stuff on the plate.
|
I eat to fill up, then eat more, but then I puke, so I can eat more.
Is that a bad thing? |
I think my record was five plates. My rationalization for that was the fact that I ran 1.5-3 miles a day. :p I didn't have any ice cream though, since I can't stomach soft-serve ice cream. If I'm feeling unhealthy (hah!), I'll probably only go for two plates.

i didn't think there was a point where you had to stop but if you eat more than 7 trays of food..you sir/lady needs some help
|
I can eat the shrimp too many. Which is really a pain 'cause all the other stuff before goes down great, until that freaking shrimp sends the whole thing into turbo overdrive indigestive mode IV
|
I usually go only 2 rounds. But that's pretty much because I stuff my plate to the brim. And then usually we stuff some more food into my mom's purse or something.

I usually have two plates, can only manage a third if I'm really hungry...usually don't even have enough room for dessert (unless its the local Chinese buffet which has amazing chocolate cake!) I've never tried starving myself before to eat as much as possible, because I just hate being hungry!
|
Question is how much good food is at a buffet. I find buffets usually suck overall, and only get about two plates of food total.
|
The trick is to eat smart. Rice and shit will fill you up right away. What I do is I eat about 5 lbs. of crab legs and THEN I start on the other stuff. Fish first. That's the key to getting your money's worth.
|
Five pounds of crab legs isn't worth $7, okay.

I try my best to eat a lot so I don't feel like I'm wasting my money, but I never can, I'm a small guy. I usualy have 2-3 full dishes, and my dessert dishes before I'm packed ;_; . YARGH!

When I go to a Chinese buffet, I just hit up the Mongolian BBQ. Keep the guy tipped with a one-dollar bill every two plates, and suddenly he doesn't care that the fat kid keeps coming back for more.
Five plates of Mongolian BBQ is well-worth the twelve bucks, I think. As Minion said, eat smart at a buffet, guys. I never got the people who eat things like rice and salad. Like my whole family. |
It depends
spur of the monent buffet run: 2 plates MAX Herbaly-enhanced gluttony: 4+ plates +desert I usually go for the no wait time. |
The most I can usually eat at a buffet is about two plates. That is, unless I want sickness for the next few hours. During hungrier times, I might manage three. (That's only happened once.)
It kind of makes me think that I'm not eating enough for what some buffets can cost... |
Maximum I go is two or three times.
Of course, that's before I bring along my water bottle and start filling it up with apple juice and smuggling food out via the napkins. Yes, I enjoy maximizing my profitability. |
I can only manage two full plates and a drink, and that's only with some luck. And one of those plates is usually made up at least partially of salad or fruit or something else light.
I really don't get full value out of the $7.00 meals plan that the university made me buy. ;_; on that note, is it really good procedure for a university to feed its students fries, alfredo sauce-covered pasta, and other heavy sleepy foods? no wonder people pass out in lectures. |
kind of depends on me, if there is MSG in the food, then it is two rounds... if no MSG, I'll go nuts and may have 5 rounds if I am really hungery!
|
At most I can handle three plates with two drinks and maybe some room in the end for dessert.
However, I never seem to come out of a buffet feeling comfortable. Not to the point of puking, just not at general ease. |
Depends on how good the food is. The last buffet I went cost $40 (~USD 10) and I only took about 2-3 plates (not full dishes, just a little bit of some). A cup of coffee, some dessert and I'm done.
True, buffets aren't worth the money unless you can really eat. I had this phobia of buffets after my experience in Pizza Hut. |
Hmmmm . . . well I usually only go the chinese buffet but I get around 3 plates, a bowl of soup and dessert usually . . .
I did 6 plates once when I was 12 or so . . . stomach hurt pretty bad . . . |
It really depends on the type of buffet I'm eating at.
Chinese food I skip the rice/noodles and eat veggies and other stuff so I can go 4-5 plates + dessert. I went to an Italian buffet and could only go 3 plates + fruit and dessert. The food was so rich and filling - like there was so many kinds of pasta, roast beef, these mussels in wine sauce...and the potatoes O.O But the dessert was almost worth the price of the buffet itself ...mmm caramel crunch cake |
Usually 2-3 plates, but if it is sushi i can eat like 4 whole rolls.
Sushi is addictive. Double Post: Quote:

54!? I'm usually stuffed after 10.
