How to dress when it's > 100°F
Hey fans, well, this is just another thread dealing with the xx-tremely hot temperatures all around da world (except for the Aussies, keep on waiting for summer, sports!). So what do you prefer to wear when it's hot like that?
I mean obviously, now it's not the time to wear Abercrombie and Fitch camouflage jackets or Hugo Boss trenchcoats or something like that. So what kind of dress do you prefer? Long jeans? Shorts? Shorter shorts than shorts? Naked? As for top, do you prefer t-shirts or maybe those awesome multi-color hawaii shirts ("Oh and by the way, next Friday is hawaiian shirt day" < which movie is this from? Okay!) Also, I'd like to know what you prefer concerning footwear. I see a lot of people (mainly fags) wearing those flip flops this summer (I think pom or someone else has a flip flop fetish, so no offense intended!!); I've even seen people wearing flip flops combined with cool white tennis socks (welcome to Germany) =/ :) Oh and btw, 100°F is about 38°C, I figured that out using some internet converter |
Usually I wear light shorts around the house, I'm never too bothered if I have to wear jeans/trousers I know it can get well hot there but it's not THE priority.
T-shirt, maybe my football tops, but usually a light or white coloured. I had this gray Muse t-shirt which had holes in the armpits so I ripped the sleeves off and it became a sleeveless. I guess I don't go out that much. Plain t-shirts largely. When I was in HK I wore sandals practically the whole time. I've never worn them except in my garden over here. |
Well, naked would be preferable.
But since that's not publicly acceptable, I normally wear t-shirts and pants. Of course, that's not too different from what I wear in winter (minus the jacket/coat). It's more what I wear to bed that changes; lately I've been wearing a wife-beater or one of my dad's tank-tops. |
I wear the same thing I do year round, black band shirts and jeans.
|
If I'm sitting around my house, I'll just wear some boxers and a guy's undershirt. When I go out, I wear jeans and a T-shirt with sandals or mary janes.
|
Because I work for a bank, I am pretty much forced to dress in business casual, which means slacks and a polo shirt or button down dress shirt. This is fine with me, as I am not outside all that much during the day. On the weekends, I wear slacks and a t-shirt.
Also, in my office, we luckily don't have hawaiian shirt day mmkay. |
Same stuff I wear usually. I'm way too used to the heat.
I've had to do welding work on the fifteenth floor of a building on-campus which had NO airconditioning up top. It gets hellishly hot in the summer. Now, when welding, you have to bundle up. I would be in jeans, hiking boots, a t-shirt, and on top of that would be a button-up shirt with long sleeves. I had to do this sorta stuff all of last summer making stuff. Now, I've gotten *used* to wearing this stuff. It's almost impossible for me to complain about heat. I sweat like a sonuvabitch, but it doesn't phase me at all beside that. Quote:

Just boxers usually. If I have to go anywhere that's considered outside of my house, I'll usually wear flip-flops, t-shirt, and whatever pair of shorts I can find. I'm really bad at handling the heat, so if it's over 30/85 I generally try not to stay outside for too long. I end up feeling ill otherwise.

I'm an idiot, so I wear long pants... but a white shirt to counter that.
Also, Phoenix is the suck for heat. |
i wear shorts and a t shirt. ...pretty much the same thing i wear all year.
|
I'm a pants guy. I hate shorts, even in the heat. Although I'm starting to rethink my prejudice after having to run a mile in pants today after my car broke down.
|
When I'm inside, boxer's and a junk t-shirt--outside, I show the heat no prejudice, so I still wear pants a t-shirt.
|
Inside, I wear a dress. Outside I usually cover up all over. I'm a very self-conscious person, and I pay for it through heat exhaustion.
|
I tend to wear shirts or anything sleeveless, and shorter pants or skirts when I go out. I usually spend more time in an air-conditioned room for the majority of the day while I'm at class anyway, but the drive and walking can be uncomfortable.
|
Spend the entire day without a shirt on between a fan and an aircon.
It gets up to 47°C in our office. I'd get naked if I wasn't so self-conscious. |
i think when tempatures are above 100, there should be some loophole where you CAN walk around in public naked. Come on, freaking hot.
Anyway, usually I wear capris if it gets that hot and sometimes walk around the house in a sports bra. too fucking out to go anywhere, why would i even need to be decent? I HATE shorts, i never wear them (legs are too white) |
I like how it's winter and raining here and I'm in shorts.
I love shorts, they're so comfy and easy to wear! :tpg: |
Jeans and a t-shirt, mainly. Sometimes I'll wear shorts, but that usually means the world is about to end or something catastrophic like that.
|
Pants, especially jeans, are intolerable in this heat. I prefer skirts, mainly those that stop above the knee, and tank tops. Skirts are probably the best combat against hot weather. I wear sandals that match or just flip flops. I also don sunglasses... it will be impossible to even drive without them.
|
To quote stupid sexy Flanders:
"Nothing at all! Nothing at all! Nothing at all!" Well, if other people are around, I wear a t-shirt and shorts, but I won't put on socks and shoes unless I absolutely have to. |
Looots of tank tops. Always tank tops in the summer. I have like 20.
Also, I hate my legs... they're very white and just... not my best quality. So I usually wear jeans/long pants. I'm beginning to branch out a little and wear shorts though--especially when I'm at home. I'm randomly jumping in pools and taking baths a lot, and at night after everyone's asleep I sit in my room with all the lights off in my underwear and a tanktop. Also, I'm drinkin' a lot of fluids. Not water, mind you. |

Jeans and a t-shirt. I'm not a shorts guy. And no to the socks with sandals!
And to think, back in high school I used to wear jackets/sweaters through this type of heat. |
Sweater indeed, in this kinda weather ><;;
We have school uniform. Ahahaha! So we all shrivel up and die collectively. There is no escape for us. *cries* The school smells horribly too. It's just...yuck. |
July 20th and you're still in school?! I got out two weeks ago and I thought THAT was late...
|
I love being naky, but since its highly illegal to show my goods to the public I wear shorts, sandals and a short sleave shirt when I go outside. I dont leave the house much during the day. In the house I wear shorts and a sweatshirt because I always have the air conditioner on "Arctic"
|
I'm usually out there with short hair, a black A-shirt, shorts, my studded belt, and sandals, a pair of shades, and a cup of ice.
Speaking of short hair, its about time I shave this stuff back again. |
I'm very cold-natured so the heat doesn't really bother me except in extreme cases (I've been told it's related to some iron deficiency). But I'm glad for it right now, being as I live in the Southeast USA with this heat wave plowing through.
I've spent most of the summer in t-shirt and either sweatpants or a lighter pair of jeans. On cooler days I usually resort to wearing a light jacket, as well. I don't even own a pair of shorts, hahah. |
Naked with a leaf on top of your penis.
|
shorts, just a pair of shorts. Thats all I'm wearing :P
Unless I have to wear more that is... for work or w/e else |
Except for special occasions, winter or summer, rain or snow, I wear my combat-like pants and a long-sleeve t-shirt. I never ever wear shorts or a hat.
|
A pet peeve of mine is when people walk around in sandals when they are not on the beach or near the beach. Seriously, no one wants to see your disgusting feet. I don't know why I hate it, I just do. Plus who really gets hot because of their feet anyway? I never saw anyone get really hot and take off their shoes. You take off your shirt if anything.
|
I really don't mind sandals on women. A lot of women's sandals just look good.
But socks and sandals? Oh come on! :D |

Erms, sandals are common here. We prefer sandals anyway.
37 degrees celsius. pretty common in the tropics. |
Just a t-shirt and shorts, but preferablly the khaki shorts. You know, those golfing/contract worker shorts. Not only are they comfortable, they have millions of pockets. This way, I can actually store my wallet in my back pocket with no problem and my keys in another, but when I wear regular shorts, I have the trouble of having to deal with my shorts falling down because of all the weight of stuff in my pocket. =\
|
I no longer mind weaing shorts since it's become that hot that they are welcome. Pants don't bother me though.
As well, my top will be short sleeved and preferably white (reflect light and all that, even if the effect is negligent), and not black (absorb light and all that, even if the effect is negligent). No muscle shirt or shirt off, since I'm too scrawny for either of those. I wear my sandals and don't care too much about my ugly feet since they are still somewhat comfortable with air blowing about. Although socks and comfy running shoes, I don't mind either. |
It was around just under 100F, probably around 95F here and I was wearing long sleeved shirt and shorts. Wasn't very hot cause it's dry here.
Got too used to 110F temperatures and 95% humidity in HK. Humidity is what makes it terrible... *cries* |
Yeah, I'm typically just in tshirt and shorts when I'm bumming around my apartment, although if the heat is truly an issue I'll be naked if no one is around.
As for when I go out, jeans are pretty much a must because I don't own any shorts with pockets, and I never go out without having my wallet and other miscellaneous stuff that requires pockets. I tend to prefer the heat to the cold, so I enjoy it, even if I'm sweating stupidly. |
Dress the same way you do whenever it's hotter than 80 and just take it like a man.
|
During such extremes in weather, I prefer to wear whatever I want and stay inside, rarely only briefly being outside if I have to travel to the car from the house or from the car to a building.
|
Aux natural!!
I actually sleep in the nude at night with the window open to let the cool breeze in. |
It's usually up to 110 to 115 during the day here and it's been nothing buy my usual summer attire. Cargo shorts and cotton t-shirts, or cotton knit polos. Best to not even go outside unless you're walking to and from the car, or going to the pool.
|
My atire pivots around 70 degrees F. Anything above that is cotton shorts and cotton T-shirt, anything below is pants and a T-Shirt, possibly fleece or other long sleeves piece of clothing. I wear sneakers or boots year-round regardless of temperature.
