I want a [/rave] tag!

Is it possible to code something that takes text, makes it size 10 bolded AND cycles through RGB? God that would be so awesome.

packrat Jul 15, 2006 11:58 PM

I have no clout at this site, but I fully support this idea. =D

FatsDomino Jul 15, 2006 11:58 PM

I fully support this. Can it be done, guys?! =O

THE POWER OF WATER Jul 16, 2006 12:33 AM

http://www.quiteajolt.com/gff/raveconfirmed.gif

it'd probably have to be done with one image per character or funky javascript though

Miles Jul 16, 2006 12:46 AM

Oh god please no. ;__;

FatsDomino Jul 16, 2006 12:54 AM

lol you can be conservative with this request, you know. Just make a script that parses each character in the tag to start color changes. First character starts on red. Second character starts on green. Third character starts on blue. The next character would start at red again. The color change sequence is red, then green, and then blue. Just repeat. Pretty easy.

If you want to make the text bold or larger just put bold and size tags around rave tags. That way you can do further text manipulation. Everyone wins. =)

And if you're epileptic or something you could have an option that people can go and have rave tags turned off for their account.

While we're at it, let's add an option where people can go and have the internet suck for their account.

value tart Jul 16, 2006 01:26 AM

Or we could just not add it altogether and instead focus on things that more than 2 people actually want.

That's what I was trying to get at, but I guess it looks like it can be read both ways.

You know you would use it, don't lie.

Well, the "or" was more referring to the initial post, not yours. Sorry about that. ;_;

Oops my bad.

I like how this is pretty much a waste of a post. Maybe I should have made it worthwhile by including images of CATS.

I count four. Clearly this represents the WILL OF THE PEOPLE and must be implemented immediately or there'll be shootings.

value tart Jul 16, 2006 02:27 AM

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/09...2/c2ef3e5f.jpg

I'm done also.

Free.User Jul 16, 2006 02:29 AM

Requesting "Internet Suckage" be implimented ASAP.

EDIT: Oh wait it's called GameFaqs.

Bigblah Jul 16, 2006 04:23 AM

Internet Suckage is a good idea; I'll work on it after I get Miles to stop nagging at me

FatsDomino Jul 16, 2006 10:28 AM

You guys really don't want rave tags? =o

Like I said if it were implemented it should be an option that you can turn off if you don't like it. I don't see what the big deal is.

Why people who aren't epileptic don't love seizure hilarity, I'll never know.

value tart Jul 16, 2006 02:43 PM

I'm not questioning the hilarity of the rave tag, my beef is that if we keep getting sidetracked with this stuff things that more people are asking for (like Who Quoted Me) will never get finished.

Tube Jul 16, 2006 02:46 PM

No discussion needed. Rave tag must be added immediately.

Man, if you keep requesting this for every single new hack we've put on the edit options page will stretch for miles and miles. >_>

value tart Jul 16, 2006 02:51 PM

It doesn't do that already?

We could always split it into two pages: "Edit Options" and "Edit Fun Stuff"

Miles Jul 16, 2006 02:59 PM

But m00, programming an off and on option for every single hack may delay Who quoted me for another 4 months. Still want it done? =p

value tart Jul 16, 2006 03:02 PM

*gasp* No!

FatsDomino Jul 16, 2006 03:03 PM

Requesting "Edit Fun Stuff" page. =)

packrat Jul 16, 2006 03:10 PM

Why not just pre-emptive about this by enabling everyone to customize their view of GFF like people on Livejournal can for their own site?

At this rate, that is what you will end up with in a few years.

value tart Jul 16, 2006 03:13 PM

Well no, because then this is what we'll end up with if we do that:

Ew.

"Fun Stuff" should just be a single on or off option. Off just makes anything ever done by Infernal or Acer not show up.

On a side note, I support rave tags, and question whether anyone is even working on who quoted me.

It will also stretch for Free.User!

But seriously, I think "rave text" as a regular tag will take away from the board's professional look. There are of course times when such text should be used, but not enough for it to warrant its own tag.

Do you even know how ridiculous you look when you say half the shit you do.

I've just stopped even taking you seriously after I've read some of the things you have.

Sarag Jul 16, 2006 09:10 PM

We need rave tag.

Blink doesn't work on marquees.

So let's go for the doubleshot.

Er, I supposed you're right. I had just always attributed coloured/flashy text with poorly-designed layouts, but I guess marquee could be in that category aswell.

Actually blink works together with marquee on Firefox 1.5.0.4 on my laptop.

I swear I have no idea how I got marquee to work in the first place.

My original code had [blink] around all of the [marquee]s, which doesn't work. I had to put the [blink] inside each [marquee] for SUPER FUNTIME ACTION.

I didn't notice it right away because Safari doesn't support <blink>. :(

/r/ AJAX blink implementation

Little Shithead Jul 17, 2006 12:34 AM

You know, seeing this marquee business and such, made me think that we need an alternating marquee tag for even more hilarity.

MARQUEE PONG.

Summonmaster Jul 17, 2006 12:41 AM

Ooh! I was actually thinking of something similar but lamer earlier, like a rainbow tag, but I'm glad that someone else is in favour of scintillating words.

MARQUEE PONG.

This would be the greatest thing to happen to text since text!

MARQUEE PONG.

Clearly the logical extension of [marqueer]. [marqueea] = <marquee behavior="alternate"> must happen along with [rave].

Sarag Jul 17, 2006 01:20 AM

Or [alternate] vs [marquee], maybe also [revmarquee] so you can scroll the other way.

This is ROFL worthy material!

Also: why am I doing this at work omg

MARQUEEPONG

packrat Jul 17, 2006 02:00 AM

The marqueepong is absolutely awesome Bigblah.
However, I see that the page needs to be refreshed to see this work. Is this normal?

Yes, it's like that at least with Firefox; it's all up to how your browser handles it.

value tart Jul 17, 2006 02:39 AM

Firefox 2.0 Beta 1 apparently handles it just fine, I didn't have to refresh.

I take that back, apparently it only works with other people's, I still had to refresh to see mine. AWESOME FEATURE, BLAH!

UltimaIchijouji Jul 17, 2006 02:43 AM

This is me kicking ass. Also testing with Flock.

Yeah needs refresh, probably cause this is based off an older Gecko build. Also takes a few seconds to parse and show up.

Paco Jul 17, 2006 02:44 AM

THIS IS THE MOST USELESS THING EVER.
I <3 YOU BIGBLAH!

scotty Jul 17, 2006 02:47 AM

yay now GFF is super professional
next, rave pong!

THE POWER OF WATER Jul 17, 2006 02:52 AM

Thanks, Blah. But imagine how much more AWESOME this would be if it were [rave]'d text that was [marqueepong]ing.

Also, overlong lines for the win.
