Heyy GFF, what new features would you like to see on GFF or ChocoJournal?

"Who Quoted Me?", please.

chocopager crashed GFF. I'm all for the return of chocochat, simply because some people can't install/use miRC that well. It would get more faces in #gfchat.

yeah, but still. The feature is just so damn cool. I feel GFF has its own instant messanger. But since it will crash the board, I will just keep it as a wish.

I always like to throw out that some new board "skins" would be nice. With some different colors. Oh god the blue its everywhere

Seconded, along with the ancillary request of admin FTP access to make it possible.

Having ChocoChat would be awesome to get some people usually not IRC-friendly to get into #gfchat. My one thing would be that hopefully we'd get a more updated version. Not being able to click on links in there, among other irritating things, becamse really annoying.

I also would like Who Quoted Me back, but I've already asked for that so many times. ;_;

I am also going to request "Who Quoted Me" as well as "My Posts".

And now I can't get to New Posts anymore unless I open it in a new tab.

The popup menu for View Posts is implemented now.

Excellent. The Your Posts thing was something I was hoping would return as well. I was constantly going to my profile to get to the link, anyway. This makes it easier.

how about instant WYSIWYG in the quick reply box? so we dont need to waste time by clicking go advanced button.

Getting the search feature to include the name of the person being quoted in it's searches would be good. I'm sure it used to do that.

Also the highest rated members table, I liked that.

Agreed. Don't gunk up the Quick reply with bullshit features. Take the 2 seconds it takes to click advanced if you want to do that.

I think you can already do that. In fact, I'm sure you can, because I read the journals that way. First comment first, last comment last, sorted from top to bottom. That's how I like it.

FTP access back for the admins is the only "feature" that I can think of as being important.

It's always been in your CJ Settings page.

I have some suggestions and ideas! =O

• FTP access for admins bobo has fixed this
• GIRLbanning (it'll be total lol :)) not gonna happen even if it'll be lol at least once :(
• Who Quoted Me it's been added
• WYSIWYG editor for journals
• ChocoChat
• ChocoPager (that doesn't crash the server)
• GFA (the bittorrent tracker or whatever was proposed)
• Built-in PNG transparancy support for IE forum-wide like GFWiki's logo Blah has informed me that we already have this! Fucking sweet! =D
• Board Skins (although I'm fine with the current style)
• Drop-down links (click a link and it drops down a list of more links like click on your username in the forums currently does, it'd be useful)
• User post filter, so you can easily see all of the posts in a thread by only one or two users Blah has added this. :)
• I'd love access to the emoticon database :)
• Raise the ava/sig filesize limits :)
• Get rid of the signature checker because it's flawed and mostly retarded. Mostly.
• Nanaca Crash in the Arcade with the ability to keep your highest score and retry if need be before CLICKING SUBMIT to submit your highscore.
• Custom flags (upload a cool small flag like you do with your avatars - for those Ace Combat geeks, etc.)
• The ability to prop posts on the boards
• :10bux: features - get higher ava/sig filesize privileges, custom username image privileges, and other great features by paying ten bucks (it'll help pay for the server and stuff)
• Custom usernames set to on by default (I still don't understand why they're off by default, people will figure out by the * by everyone's name that they are looking at a custom username and can then go and turn it off if they don't like it which for most probably won't be the case - as is with it turned off by default these users don't even know the feature exists) retarded idea, however, now we need custom display names back but set to off by default and optional LIKE THEY WERE. :mad:
• Custom ava/sigs per forum but mostly just The Sewers that can be enabled/disabled. This would allow for Furry Xmas in the Sewers and for people who don't want to view that to turn off custom ava/sigs for The Sewers which would of course display the default ava/sig instead

I really like the idea to have specific avatars and sigs in specific forums. For things like Furry Christmas that seems like an awesome idea. The only thing I worry about is certain people (*cough*Skills*cough*) will use this as an excuse to put penises or something in their avatar space. Not that I'm grossed out by it, or anything, but having a penis in your avatar space is just retarded.

Yeah, that's why you'd have the ability to enable/disable viewing people's forum specific ava/sigs per forum. At least that's how I'd do it.

Also, I just found out that Blah and Miles have ftp access again. I'm gonna go strike that off my list then. :)

Oh btw, what do you guys think of some of my ideas? =o

This allows for lots of creativity, and only it's not like everyone is mandated to make one for every forum; only the people who are interested need apply.

seconded! 50 kb is just never enough. make it 100 kb at least.

SAGE this shit. The sig and avatar limits are just fine the way they are. Even though most of us are on broadband, some are still connecting with 56gay. As far as I know, most people use ChocoSig to host their images, which hogs on bobo's bandwidth. I, personally, would not like to miss out on GFF because it crashed due to a bunch of asshats who want a fucking huge image tied to their name doubling image bandwidth.

I actually think sigs should be trimmed down to a height of 200px. :/

My request is *please don't shoot me, please don't shoot me* a slight change in color and layout to the forums. Especially ChocoJournal. I see the CJ main page as hueg an clunky. I'm sure no one would even consider this, but I'd even come up with a design and XHTML + CSS template if that'd sway things.

When I wrote it, yes, I meant in place of the classic GFF skin. But now you point it out, a new skin could be just an addition to this one.

Well then, how about people stop being lazy and get their own webhost so they can host their own, and leave Chocosig at 50k.

If you're on 56K, endure it or turn off signatures.

I'd like to request THREE things:

1. The "Who Quoted Me?" Feature that was in a user's Control Panel.

2. Custom Country Flags

3. Submission of Custom Emoticons (Where basically the Mods/Admins filter out FAIL ones and keep the ones made of WIN), each user above a certain post count can submit like, 1 or maybe 3 emoticons, with an obvious limit on pixel size and file size.

Adding that to my list of what I'd like too. Thanks, Skills. =)

Signed, though I'd like ALL the arcade games to have a retry function, so the hassle with submitting and stuff is avoided untill you actually want to submit the score.

Also, bobo is smart, so a major ChocoJournal release should have AJAX of some sort built in. That way we can choose what "modules" to put on our Chocojournal homes, and where to put them, similar to Google Personalized Home and Live.com's setups. It's too clunky as is.

The ability to set how long the list is of "Who's Online" would be nice. I think that was an old GFF feature that either never returned, or I haven't found it yet.

Why don't you create a thread/poll in which 56k members (well, I suppose all members) can vote if they are/aren't in favour of a size increase? If the majority (>90%) is in favour, I see no reason not to increase it.

I'm liking the custom emoticon idea, but I doubt the admins want to get spammed HOURLY with "HAY LOOK GOATSE SMILY! ADD PLZ CUZ IT'S SMILING!" I suggest that a user can have a custom DB of 10(or any # of) smilies that they (and only they) can use. Moderation? It would be the same as if someone posted an obscene image.

You just know that as soon as this feature is implemented, half the forum will be from Yukotobania. Not like there's anything wrong with that, I'm just sayin'.

There's also still a bug where if you go into Edit Options and then save whatever change you make, your country flag defaults to USA, if you had it set to "none" previously.

I don't like white themes, and I'm sure a lot of other people don't.

The only way I can summarize any of my thoughts on a white theme all wind up as "They're pretty fucking gay."

Yes, but I think that if more than 10% of GFF is against raising the minimum, then it's fair to leave it.

Apparently a feature has been added that makes closed threads turn gray. I don't know how I feel about this one yet, on the one hand it makes closed threads less prominent, on the other hand if I'm looking for a thread that may have recently got closed the gray would make it harder for me to find it.

Also, I just noticed: it applies to stickies also, making those less prominent, even with that big IMPORTANT: sticker there. Wouldn't it make sense to not have that affect stickies? >_>

So if 10 percent of those people, a whopping 1.11 percent of the userbase, say they can't stand loading signatures bigger than 50 KB, then it's fair to leave it at the size it's currently at?

I said 90% (or 10%, however you want to look at it) of GFF, not 90% of dialup users.

I was trying to be fair to dailup users (having been one before), but I suppose 90% is a bit much.
