http://img365.imageshack.us/img365/7...20029gf.th.jpg Okay, the latest news is: Lenneth, the remake of the original PS1 game, has been released in japan, on the 3rd of March in japan. There has also been reports of a Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth Original Sound Track to be released within the next week, according to RPGamer. It appears as if the PSP version has a more polished feel, and it filled up the pixellated problems that the original PS1 version had. Unfortunately, this still isn't a good enough reason for me to buy a PSP. I'm being harsh on the handheld, with DJMAX Portable, Taiko no Tatsujin Portaboloo, Me and My Katamari and now Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth been released, but eh, I don't know. On the plus side, the game looks really good. I'm not sure if there's any new word on additions being in the remake or not, but there's clearly new CG movies which we haven't seen from the original. The chances of this being released in america are high. Will you be buying it? Alot of people can't get a copy of the original, as it's difficult to find, so this would be a great chance for gamers to experience the first before the sequel arrives later this year. |
Aside from the new CG scenes that replace the ugly anime videos that were a part of the PSX version, there are also new in-game scenes exclusively made for the PSP version in order to establish a better connection to the pre-sequel Silmeria.
Let's hope that it, if it's going to be released stateside, sells better than the original version. Maybe they could also crop out the few really bad voice actors and replace them with better ones, but I guess that won't happen. The English Tales of Eternia PSP version also didn't get much justice considering a re-translation and re-dubbing... |
Unfortunately, this title nor its PS2 sequel are showing any pre-order availability at EB's computers, so still nothing regarding its American release.
Having never played the original PS1 title and ultimately regretting it, I'm excited to see a polished version coming to my favorite handheld. With titles like Kingdom of Paradise, the two Megaman games, Ys: Ark of Napishtm and now Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, I'm more than satisfied with my system's current and future library. |

I thought the anime intro in the original game was a little weird, the quality was pretty bad and some of the animation didn't match the character designs (but then again, half of the in-game sprites didn't either.)
The only thing I care about in VP:L are the links to VP:S that are added. On the VP:L website they show a couple of pictures that looks like there will be a CG scene to link the two games together. Silmeria is so hot. |
Well, no official confirmation but S-E did register both games so they have every intention to bring them to the US.

Ooh, this is sick! I never thought that I would get a PSP and now look at me. I'm getting this on right on release date if ever, since I was really stupid and sold off the original VP when I finally got an Angel Slayer and Lenneth was level 99.
However, I expect it to be more than just a port. Those 3D scenes look sick, but I need something more than the Seraphic Gate and insane demon hamsters destroying battle hardened warriors. I'm looking forward to the Great Magic PWSs to be retouched from the pixelly versions, and basically edge enhancement all around if they can make those 3D scenes. |
I've sadly never played the PS1 version of this game but after playing Star Ocean 2 and 3 I want to play any and all tri-ace games. I haven't picked up Radiata Stories yet but that's beside the point.
Now I'm starting to get a few good reasons to get a PSP sometime this year. Those reasons being this, Generations of Chaos and Blade Dancer. |
You know, I've played VP since 2001 and finished it a couple of times.
But seriously here, I'd be tickled pink if it comes out in the U.S. I'd seriously have another reason to use my PSP again besides from defunct moments bought to you by Kingdom of Paradise. Simply enough, this will keep me busy when times I'm not studying. |

Someone uploaded all the CG videos on another board I'd thought I share. I warn you though its in pmf format, which i think is something specific for PSP. I haven't downloaded it myself so i don't if something like Mplayer will play it. Guess I will leave it for others here with faster connections.

I might pick it up. If the new connections to VP2 come in non-CG form, I will be very excited. EDIT: Downloaded the rar file. The videos are in PMF, so yes, they're for PSP. You can download some codecs to play the format on Windows, but there's no audio and the framerate is inconsistent as hell. If anyone knows of a way to convert it into mpeg or avi or something, do let us know. EDIT 2: Okay, what the shit. Only one of those CG videos had any sort of tie-in to Silmeria, and all it was was a CG of Alicia running up to the guillotine at Barbarossa's execution. |

I still don't see why people would get this game if they have the original already, it's not like they made some groundbreaking changes, only cleaned it up where it was necessary. Does the game have voice acting btw? |
I've only briefly played the original, but if this remake ultimately reaches the U.S.' shores I may be inclined to finally buy a PSP. From what I've gathered from my scarse experience with the original, the game has a very dense and fascinating style and good gameplay devices.
And no doubt it looks really intriguing in this new graphical enhancement. So, I'm all for it. |
Off topic, but Radiata Stories is the only tri-Ace game that wasn't headed by Yoshiharu Gotanda, which explains the sucking.

I would buy a PSP for this game. I hear tons of good things about it, and the PSP doesn't really have a killer app for me yet, but this would do it.
That or Konami's Suikoden 2 re-release. Goddammit, I want that to be here. |
I know. That's really un-fucking-fair of Konami to hoard that in Japan and not release it here, while instead choosing to release the fucktard bastard children that Suikoden 4 and Tactics are.
|
Suikoden IV is a perfectly acceptable dungeon crawler and Suikoden Tactics is considered by many to be an above-average Strategy-RPG.
It would have been nice if they had included some fancier extras in the compilation, since maybe then I could get excited for a port. Of course, seeing as I own both titles on the Playstation, it may just be me. |
Oh man...you have problems.
i'm living in germany and so it needs yeras until weg get the games. Until yet there are only two rpgs on the market. Bof§ and tales of eternai and tey are in english... I have the valkyrie profile for the psone and i love this game. Have they had it realesed yet? |
What I'd like to know is if they'll be using some of the arranged tracks instead of the OST. The arranged tracks just rock of pure awesome, and I think are a step above the OST. Seeing from one of the first trailers, "Sky Gate" was replaced by "Requiem to a Predicament / Doorway to Heaven". If this were true, holy shit I'd actually love flying from one area to the next. Enter dungeon for 2 time periods? Yes please! Actually, I'm not sure if this was replaced or not, seeing that the trailer was just CG, rather than the overworld map where the Sky Gate theme is supposed to be played.
Even if the regular battle music was updated with the arranged with the "Fighting the Shadowy Gods - Arranged Version", damn, I'd be very happy. |
In the Japanese version, the music is the same as the original. No additions from the Arrange album.
It also would appear that the dub for the English version will remain the same, and there've been reports that Megan Hollingshead will reprise her role as Lenneth for the new CGI cutscenes. |
I think the English voices were just fine, so there shouldn't be any problems in scrambling to find a new voice cast or anything just for a port. Of course, I wonder if there's an option hear the Japanese voices too.
As long as they don't replace Confidence in the Domination with it's Voice Mix counterpart, or anything funky like that. Goddness, that was terrible! |
Black Mage is correct, the soundtrack release for the PSP is actually the EXACT same discs that the PS1 release got, so I highly doubt the soundtrack has been changed at all.
And the Voice Mix album wouldn't even make sense as ingame music, to be honest. |
The OST for VP is still very enjoyable and listenable, although I do enjoy some of the tracks on the arranged album more. I've never heard this "vocal mix" album. Is it worth a listen?
|
Maybe? It's...not a concept I enjoy but I know a couple people who don't mind it.
Check your PM box. |

In short, the voice acting is still pretty decent I don't have any real complaints, although sometimes the lines or somewhat cheesy. But at the same time have some of the best lines ever. I was a slave to circumstance - Belenus. |

The "Long generations of Anger" is probably the best sounding if they didn't put the vocals in. This is know as "Fantasy Left from Ancient's Eternity" in the OST. |
If I had a PSP, I would run out the second it came out and get it....but I don't because I'm cheap. Valkyrie Profile was one of my favorite games on PSX when it came out, but the disc stopped working after awhile and couldn't play it anymore.
|
Some of you might be interested to know that Square-Enix is apparently redoing the game's voicework to go along with Silmeria's. IGN has a video from some A Scanner Darkly premiere or something, and one of the guys interviewed said he just wrapped up a voice acting project for "Valkyrie Profile I and II", playing a character named Arngrim (at least they're not changing the names, I guess).
Lezard will now likely be 1000x less cooler. |
just got this game, and even if I have the original, it's been a long time since I played and really I can't enjoy this game more then now on my psp XD
the graphic are really beautiful! and the cg cut-scene are great! (I was suprised to see the "transformation of Jelanda" in a cut-scene) the only problems I see, is the loading time when you enter a battle is little bit long and there's a little "freeze" when you open a trap chest, which is really more easy to avoid the trap now... but beside that this is a really good port! now aiming for the A ending, been so long that I don't even remember it XD |
Same, just got it.
Fuck guy, it has been 5 years ago when I played the original. Will post impressions on my journal. |
If someone who has played the original could confirm who reprises their roles that would be great.
If Arngrim has changed, then Lezard is undoubtedly different and as Generic Badass has already pointed out, that's bad news. |
well for now I,m not far enough to have heard lezard, but I can say that lenneth, freya, odin, arndgrim, Jelanda ... well all character up to chapter 3 still have the same voice acting XD
if it's true that they change something, I think that lezard will be the one, I'll comfirm this tomorow when I pass his Tower... |
Yeah, I happened to listen to some of the dialogue today, and the voices I've heard so far (Lenneth, Odin, Freya, Frei, and Arngrim) all sound the same. I wonder why that guy said "Valkyrie Profile 1", then?
Maybe this means they'll bring back the same people for Silmeria, but I'm not getting my hopes up. |
I pretty much beat the game already (going for Ending A). All the voices are the same, but in the CG cutscenes you hear the new voice actors. The difference isn't all that bad except for Lucian's, where it's very obvious someone else is playing his voice during one of the CG scenes.
|
Today I got Vprofile lennth.Yes the oice actors are still the same.Arngrim and Lezard have fortunately the same voice. But I think they made some parts new.Do you rember,Lenneth way of speaking was sometimes really strange. Now it#s a littlebit better.so I think they made some scenes new.The FMV's are really nice but it's a pity that you can't found the anime intro.
It's pathetic they made this new Intro but they have taen the old music, take a flight.and this song doesn't fits to the intro....... I also have heard that they've made some changes in the story, becauas of silmeria, but until yet I#ve found anything(and i rember well the original version,I finished it 2 weeks ago XD) So if I recognice anything i'll tell you |
Either way, I'm glad about the changes in the introductory CG scene. Doesn't matter of they're drawn or not, they're beautiful to behold.
And boy, did my memory fade into oblivion. I totally forgot what happens in chapter 4 and 5 because of its importance. I finished the game thrice in 2000 - 2001. I should know. But alas. |

just finish the game with A ending, and just realize that I never saw it... damn you really can't enjoy this game without it! well at least not as much! I loved this game before that and now good this game is even more AMAZING! XD
those CG cut-scene are very beautiful! (I still miss one >.< maybe it's in the B or C ending XD) oh and btw is there something special if you complete all the voice collection? |
In the original, you got a "Congratulations!" screen with artwork of Loki.
|
Playing the game for a bit, and I've started coming across translucent enemies and I can't find them, which is making the game a bit difficult as I can't level normally. Wtf's going on here?
Double Post: Nevermind, I'm an idiot. Totally forgot I had the Dimension Slip equipped. :/ |
Today I went to GameStop to trade in my PSP, only to find out they wont take it because it has a crack on the faceplate. Since I'm unofficially stuck with it, I figured I might as well get a game for it, otherwise its just a paperweight. That game was of course VP: Lenneth. But I can't say I'm too excited about spending 40$ on a game I already have, and finished recently compared to most people. I hear theres nothing new in Lenneth, gameplay wise, but the 3D cutscenes look nice.
I really just can't wait for Silmeria to come out. Game of the year anyone? |
How do you go about getting these various endings? All the guides I've read so far are really nebulous about this and don't seem to give proper requirements for any of the different endings.
I never finished the game before, so what do you need to do in order to get the A ending? So far, I'm in chapter 4, just entered Lezard's tower. |

Vprofile anime
hmmm...the nwe fmv's are nice but i heard that there are two mor anime fmvs in the old version.one killing loki and the aother after the battle with him ,lucian and valkyrie on asgard hill kissing each other.
does anybody know where i could get them? |
I like how in one sentence you spoiled almost all the game ...
(some people here didn't play or finish the game >.>) |
Thank god I didn't read his post.
I might pick this one up later today or in a few weeks. Any idea on how well it's selling? |
Well...my store sold out numerous times, but then again we got only a few copies per shipment.
However, I've not seen one traded in yet, so take that as you will. I assume most people are keeping it regardless of whether or not they liked it. Maybe it's fear of finding it again, a la the original Valkyrie Profile. |
I picked this up today and just got through the first 'dungeon' (fighting that true vampire or something). This is my first time ever playing VP and I'm having a ball, but ...what's this about some time limit before Ragnarok? My characters could be weaksauce and I'd get ported to the War of the Worlds?
|
Basically, going into towns, dungeons, and using the Spiritual Concentration take up periods, and each chapter consists of 24 periods. The game is designed to give you enough time to complete the entire game and go through every dungeon at least once and recruit every character, even in Hard mode.
The idea is that you wouldn't send weak characters up to Asgard. Instead, you train them, level them up, and give them at least something a little better than basic equips, and send them on their merry way. If this is your first time playing VP, I'd really recommend getting either the guide or checking out GameFAQs. |
Number of periods periods per chapter depends on difficulty. 24 is normal, 28 is hard. That's how it is with the psx version anyway. You usually have more then enough to spare to visit a couple of towns and/or a few dungeons.
Wouldn't worry too much about your transfered characters dying. I've seen it happen once, and that was a level 1 character from chapter 1. Just equip whoever you want to transfer with a emerald necklace, which you should get pretty early, and use the experience orb to level them up 5/6 levels. Use the skill points you got to level up the skills that are nececarry for that chapter, like Tactics, Find Trap, Survival, etc. Increase their hero value to max, and give them whatever armor and weapons you can make with divine item at the time, and your good to go. I strongly suggest you play "hard" because it's not actually hard at all. There's a few differences, but they are minor to say the least. The reason you want hard is because you'll be able to do everything there is in the game. There are 4 minor crappy shor dungeons that only show up in easy and normal, but there's 8 major dungeons that only show up on hard, along with a extra einherjar, and the best armor and weapons in the game. Seriously, go hard. Now if by that this time, it's too late for you, let me give you a few tips at least. 1. After recruiting these characters: Spoiler:
Go back to their house, IN THE CHAPTER YOU GOT THEM, and you'll get a item that they once had. It's usually nothing special, but some of the items will help you a great deal. Arngrim for example, will give you a Dragon Slayer. These swords break easily if you use them casually, but if you use them against dragons, they die in 1 hit. 2. Along the way you might find special items, called Element Scepter and Ether Scepter. They have a high chance of breaking, but they do something that will help you a great deal. Having these equiped on one of your mages, they'll be able to unleash the great magicks. Their PWS are a lot more powerful, try it out. You can find a element scepter in the first dungeon, the Artolian Mountain Ruins. Another interesting feature these items have, is that you can transmute them in Tome of Alchemy. These tomes will pretty much always instant kill all enemies AND when they die they drop a SHITLOAD of blue crystals. Each crystal increases experience earned by 5%. Good thing to carry around, believe you me. 3. If you get a item called Bracelet of Zoe, use it. if you have this equiped when you levelup you get 300 DME for free. It does stack, so you can equip 2 to get 600. In my last game, my mage was using them the entire game, and she had more health then Valkyrie. Use the experience orb whenever you only need a little experience to levelup, because unless you know what you're doing, you won't get more then two bracelets of zoe in the entire game. 4. if you don't want to spent a lot of skill points on a character you are going to transfer, make sure you check out the divine item list. There's a number of items that you can make, that mimic a skill. Stuff like Angel Lips will mimic "Negotiator", Flame Bandana mimics "Brave", Pearl of Karula mimics "Swim" It's not much, but it does usually save you a level or two so you don't have to spent too much experience orb on that character. Don't bother ever leveling them up manually, ever! It's not worth the time. You'll get plenty of experience during the game to go with. At the end of a "hard" game you'll end up with around 8 million if I remember correctly. |
