Favorite kill, in a game

Some games are getting more and more realistic. Which also means fun ways to kill people... Dont get me wrong im not a violent little creep, bnut whats the best this you did to kill someone?

My personal Fav. Is almost every kill in Hitman Blood Money... Ahh such a fun game, the fact that the purpose is to make it look like an accident is just too much fun.

THIEF Jul 6, 2006 02:18 PM

Mine is a little different. But I love beating down enemies in Valkyrie Profile. Not only can you slam them with 12 different moves executed by 4 different characters, you can follow the attacks up with as many as 4 "Purify Weird Soul" and lay waste to the poor creature.

I suppose the same could go for KH2. Using limits and reactions commands, you can earn some ridiculous combos which are as satisfying to watch as perform.

Oni Koroshi Jul 6, 2006 02:31 PM

Various fatalities in Mortal Kombat, and Mortal Kombat II. So delightfully cheesy!
I think they drew it out a little too much with the friendships and babalities and what not, but the standard fatalities tended to be pretty sweet at the time.

solid_snake Jul 6, 2006 02:37 PM

the boss in mgs3 and NEMESIS in resident evil 3.
nemesis was realy a tough monster of monsters and killing IT was really relieving when i finally did it.

fighting the boss was also good because it was just so emotional, like it felt soo real.

CelticWhisper Jul 6, 2006 02:57 PM

In recent years, it would have to be the room in Resident Evil 4 wherein you fight the two ogre-like creatures. There's a hatch in the middle of the floor, below which is a pool of lava. Lure the ogre over the hatch, ride a zipline to the other side of the room, throw a switch, and down he goes. What makes it memorable isn't the booby-trap kill, which has been done a thousand times before, but rather the way the creature thrashes around and throws drops of lava every which-way in its death throes. It takes a good 30 seconds or so to die, which really gives you the impression that their skin must be pretty damn thick. Any human would be dead instantaneously if dropped into LIQUID HOT MAG-MA.

Favourite kill of all time, hmmm...off-hand, I'd say one of the neatest was Reptile's "Invisible Slice" fatality. There's something really badass about seeing some poor bastard standing there, wobbling back and forth after having been shit-beaten by a ninja, and then hearing SHINNG! and the guy's torso flies off, lands 5 feet away, and a nice big ball of blood flies up and then splatters on the floor. Because of course blood always arranges itself into a perfectly spherical formation when shed by a ninja. Real ultimate power and all that noise.

So yeah, invisible slice FTW.

WraithTwo Jul 6, 2006 02:58 PM

Crocomire from Super Metroid. There's not many first party Nintendo titles in which you watch the flesh melt off the enemy in a pool of lava (NSMB came close, but sadly, you don't actually see the skin melt, and there's no screaming, so its just not the same).

Demyx's death in KH2 was one of the funniest deaths of all time.

"NO WAAAIIII OOHHHHH UUOOOOOOHHH"

Needs to have a soundclip so I can make it into a ytmnd. :D

I think my favorite kill in a game would be from my multiplayer Goldeneye 64 days. Playing with the mine weapon set, equip your remote mines and throw a mine in your opponent's direction and explode it in midflight. There is not much that is more satisfying that your opponent seeing a mine flying towards his face, and when it is a foot from his nose, exploding, leaving him cursing your name as you laugh in victory.

That was always fun.

I also used to throw mines at opponents and let them stick to them. They would then run around, trying desperately to get rid rid of it. I would let them do so for a while, and then when near another member of their team, I would then procede to explode the mine, killing two (or more) team members in one go.

THIEF Jul 6, 2006 07:17 PM

I just forgot the best. Running through koopa troopas and goombas with the power of the super star in Mario games. Send those suckers flying across the screen or off it rather.

Skexis Jul 6, 2006 07:47 PM

Quake III: Most people seemed not to like this game because it didn't adapt well to the kind of methodical multiplayer that many other titles were offering with their multiplayer. In Q3, if you weren't moving, you were dead. This made it all the more satisfying when I would juke people out, or double back and surprise them by jumping over their head and laying into them with the gauntlet.

Even better was the announcer giving them their due post-humously. "Humiliation"!

Battlefield 2: There's many ways a kill can feel satisfying in this game, and there's really too many to mention, but one of my favorites is nailing a chopper while you're in a tank. It's usually such a one-sided battle, because of the chopper's mobility, but when you're able to lead your shot just well enough to nail the chassis, and you see the "You killed" message pop up twice, nothing much can compare.

The man has taste.

In a Deathmatch game in Skulltag (Multiplayer port for Doom/Doom2), I like wearing down my opponent's health with a Chaingun or Super Shotgun, and when their health is down really low, I finish them off with the pistol.

For an even more fun and exciting way to kill the opponent, I pick up a berserk pack, charge at an unsuspecting opponent, and then punch them! With one or two well-placed punches, they should be down for the count!

SouthJag Jul 6, 2006 08:25 PM

Ah, this reminds of good ol' Half-Life multiplayer days. Now, when you say kills, do you mean kills against the OTHER team or kills on your OWN team i.e. mostly suicide. XD

We'd spend half and hour or better setting up ridiculous traps and then setting them off. Using the trip mines to set up a crazy laser light show on one of the maps that had a bridge with an underpass, we'd make it impossible to, once you set it up, get out the way you came in. And then just waltz on through and die instantly.

There's also a trick where you can set up those sack grenades and pile them on top of one another. My friend and I used to see how high we could get the blast to send our shooter into the air, so we charged up the orange beam and fired it just as the other one'd set off the sack grenades from a safe distance and then just watch. Got pretty good air that way.

Of course, nothing beats an InstaGib match on Unreal Tournament 2004. There's something special about one-hit kills in an arena with little if any gravity and no ceiling to stop you mid-flight. XD

Kills as in against the other team, of course!

Killing the bosses in Rocket Knight Adventures. Man, that game is hard.

And they're really well designed, too. I wasn't impressed with the sequel, but the original's bosses were always scared the hell out of me. Defeating them, or one of them was an awesome feeling. Especially the metal fish, and the purple rival (whom I cannot recall his name).

Rocket Knight Adventures was also one of those games which caused me to hurt my Megadrive controller.

Summonmaster Jul 6, 2006 09:54 PM

My favourite way to be killed is the Empress Massacre in Valkyrie Profile. There's just no surviving that.

My current favourite way to eliminate the enemy though, has to be simple one-hit sword kills in rpgs. Raquel in Wild Arms 5, overpowered units in Disgaea, etc. It's more of the fact that you can see them swing the sword so effortlessly and instantly make the enemy disappear with no fancy effects.

BluencoolX Jul 7, 2006 01:00 AM

I like to knock those soldiers in MGS3 unconscious, drag them to lay in front of those stationary machine guns and proceed to pump them with loads of iron. Sometimes I'll just leave them to drown in water bodies if there are any nearby.

....I think I'm evil. :(

Grundlefield Earth Jul 7, 2006 01:46 AM

Anything in Splinter Cell is guaranteed to be a godly kill for the most part. Whether it be sneaking up to a lone soldier to snap their neck, grabbing them to dump them over a cliff, boat, etc, slicing their neck with a knife, jamming a knife into their back, smothering them, or just raining them with bullets or even sticky shockers with the greatest gun ever made (sc20k is the name I believe).

Some of the condemned criminal origins kills are brutally executed coolness as well. No game is as much up close and personal then this one.

Heh, I love remote mines in that game, I would usually grab a whole bunch and cover the walls and floor of a room with them and wait for my friend to walk in unexpectedly, suddenly "Oh Shi..." then dies

Prinnydood Jul 7, 2006 08:22 AM

Smash Bros Melee has provided tons and tons of moments like that....moments like Jigglypuff falling asleep on an electrode, or bowser beating Pichu into oblivion with his face..ahhh such fine memories.

Starwars Jul 7, 2006 10:36 AM

Elder Scrolls Oblivion is the first that comes to mind right now.

The physics engine really makes it fun killing stuff with weapons like sword or bows.

Love it when you've gotten surprised by an enemy attack, and you're just backing up to gain some time to compose yourself. Pull your arrow back, and THWACK. Hit the monster right in the face just as it's jumping at you.
Sound effect is great, and gotta love it if the monster flies back a long way (hopefully down a cliff or something).

Infernal Monkey Jul 7, 2006 10:50 AM

Throwing knives in GoldenEye. Possibly due to the sound effect, the weird 'WASHOO-OO-OO-OO'. Sneaking up behind a guard only to WASHOO-OO-OO-OO a knife at his arse then his face when he'd eventually turn around was the best.

Sometimes I'd switch on invincibility, unlimited ammo and slow animation, then go to the end of the Facility level where guards magically flood the place forever and just peg knives everywhere like a mad man.

Kilroy Jul 7, 2006 11:26 AM

Favorite kill must be in any game where I can sit with a Sniper rifle and basically shoot everyone in the face without anyone ever discovering me. (Yes, I'm a cowardly bastard)
Hitman: Blood Money is the latest game where I enjoy myself. The fully upgraded sniper, the roof overlooking the party in "A Vintage Year" and I can be entertained for hours.
"What happened to that woman? Why is she in a puddle of blo*FLIT*"
Repeat to fade!

Yeah, that and other FPSs are where most of mine are at. For BF2, I once snuck into the MEC base in Gulf of Oman and saw a guy running to hop into the jet. The tank sat unoccupied nearby, and he didn't see me so, I just hopped into the tank and waited for the poor sucker to get in the jet. I wish I could've seen the look on his face.

A couple from Halo (1): When I was playing the game for the first time, I gained a fondness for the rocket launcher. I was in Blood Gulch heading for the other bunker, about to reach the top of this hill when a guy in a Warthog suddenly crests the hill bearing down right on me. I scream, and out of desperation fire a rocket right into it. I stood there for a second, just dumbfounded as I watched the Warthog fly over my head and land a little ways behind me.

The other one was a miraculous kill by a rocket that flew for around 15-20 seconds before hitting a moving target.

One more from UT2003: Few things are more satisfying in that game than getting a Mega Kill with one shot. I was playing an assault mod with a bunch of bots and rounded a corner when I saw the whole other team except for one come out and start shooting. I had the bio-rifle, so I gave one of the bots a big glob of goo square in the chest. Three other bots were quite close by, so they all splattered from that too.

Cobra Commander Jul 8, 2006 04:28 PM

I would say any kill I make in Halo/Halo 2 when I am either not trying to kill them or I think i have no chance of winning the fight. Like a stray grenade that i just throw randomly and actually kills someone, or a random sniper shot that goes past my primamry target but headshots the guy behind him, that's kick ass stuff.

Sol Jul 8, 2006 11:33 PM

The best kill I managed was while playing F.E.A.R. with my cousin. He just aquired the HV penetrator railgun thingy and let me have the honors to use it first. A lone enemy began attacking me, I shot him once in the head and pinned him on the wall with his feet dangling. We both laughed at it for a good minute, me the most since it was the first time I had ever seen something that unintentially ridiculous in a game.

Another cool death was Railgun. Sure it was a little too much, but there's nothing like seeing the body tear to pieces with just one shot and hearing "Impressive!" out of nowhere.

And, although not an awesome death, there's also the loveable body-smashed-by-a-toilet death in Half-Life 2 DM. Or anything involving a large object and the gravity gun.

RABicle Jul 9, 2006 12:43 AM

Railgun deaths were at their best on the space levels, you'd be falling off towards oblivion and shoot someone stil alove, or perhaps falling next to you. Oh I loved it.

C4 on a gaurds back in MGS was always a favorite of mine too.

Josiah Jul 9, 2006 01:17 AM

I once got to see this guy play Halo 2 that was near unstoppable when he picked up a shotgun. Even people with the energy sword didn't stand a chance against him. There apparently is a split-second where someone charging you with the energy sword is right in your face right before they take you out, and he had his timing down just right that he'd get a one-hit kill with the shotgun in that little split-second. I was watching him do this on a network game against some trash-talking kids. We both about laughed our heads off when he killed one of them in the manner explained, while the foe's teammate was not far behind, running towards him.....when the kid completely stopped, and just turned around and ran away.

speculative Jul 10, 2006 03:52 PM

Easy - in HL2, 2 ways:

#1 - Picking up a buzzsaw blade with the gravity gun and decapitating a zombie with it.

#2 - Killing Combine soldiers in HL2 with the hot rebar crossbow by sticking them to a concrete wall with a satisfying "chthunk!" sound. :ninja:

WolfDemon Jul 10, 2006 08:19 PM

A lot of my most awesome kills were in Halo 1. Two in particular was one on Blood Gulch when I emptied a full warthog speeding toward me with only the Assault Rifle, then proceeded to take said warthog, and a CTF match on Damnation which needs its own paragraph.

I was up on one of the ledges and I saw below me two people on the opposite team. Equipping the shotgun I leapt down, killed one during the fall, then turned around and killed the other. Shortly after that I went to the narrow beams over the pit and saw the person who had our flag jumping across the final gap and killed him in midair, the flag landing right in my hands with its momentum. I wish I had a video of it, as it was easily the best series of kills ever seen by the people I was playing with.

Single Elbow Jul 11, 2006 01:29 AM

As for now, Dungeon Siege II's brutal strike impresses me far more than most kills I pull out on my PS2 RPGs. I mean, One heavy strike and the enemy gets blown apart by such force, kinda like an Insta-gib shot from the Insta-gib rifle from UT.

RABicle Jul 11, 2006 04:10 AM

Yesturday playing Counter Strike Source, the CTs bet player was shooting at me from behind some crate ona ledge above me, I fucking head shotted him with a pistol. Kill of the year.

DSan Jul 11, 2006 04:17 AM

Do knock out's count? If so, I would have to say mine is from Dead or Alive Ultimate for the Xbox. It was the final match and I was playing as Kasumi. I did the throw, you know, where she lands on their shoulders and shoved her crotch into their face. Yeah, in reply... she face f**ked him hard. Best. Ending. Ever.

CLOudkiller Jul 23, 2006 09:21 PM

Yeah, I love killing the 1st part of the last boss from Ikaruga. Just absorb laser and return em' while dodging other bullets. Quickest time I've killed em' was like 10 or so secs.

Dopefish Jul 24, 2006 10:59 AM

A well-timed shock combo in Unreal Tournament. Or a fragging flak shot.

Smash Bros. Yeah.

An \ekg kill in Rise of the Triad.

Dark Nation Jul 24, 2006 12:03 PM

One of my favorite deaths are killing sprees in UT2004 or Gunz: The Duel, when you rack up 4-5 kills in a row and then get the anger and wrath of other players on the chatline, as they wait to respawn.

Oh, and for NPC kills, I'd say a key moment in Half Life 2 when you kill Combine Soldiers with various objects using the gravity gun, nothin' like slicing through flesh with a rusty blade or fire extinguisher.

One of my favourite kills in most FPS is also a sniper shot to the head. I'm usually poor at aiming (or at FPS in general), you have to be clinical, if you can do it than it is good. No need to get into a tangle, just pick them off. SPLAT!

Lol, i used to do that to see the "Banana Peel" death. Seeing it at slow motion was hilarious.

Banana Peel

Mana Knight Jul 24, 2006 02:46 PM

Bf2 There is nothing like flash-nading a room full of enemies, then proceeding to execute all of them while they are blinded. Another, is when you are in a "one on one" battle and you both run out of ammo, to your delight you have switched to the pistol faster than he did. In a Lan game there is nothing like being the medic, Tk'ing your best friend, hear him say "You fucker!" then bring him back to life! (hahahaha) Ahhhh, such a wonderful game!

Acro-nym Jul 24, 2006 04:15 PM

My greatest killing experience was in Perfect Dark. My friend and I were playing each other with the DY357-LX (a one-hit kills weapons) being one of the active weapons. We were playing in a fairly sizeable course. Every other time we found each other, we'd shoot at the same time and die at the same time. We laughed almost every time it happened.

Burp Jul 25, 2006 04:00 AM

Mortal Kombat II: Kung Lao fatality who cuts you in two sides, that was so brutal in those years!

Also i love to... err... kill? Luigi on Smash Melee, Nintendo re-invents the screaming pain with the voice of luigi xP

Syztem Jul 30, 2006 09:46 PM

First, for my friends and I, our favourite kills would be loading up an CPU player in Perfect Dark (original) with a whole bunch of proxy mines and then watch him walk into a group of enemies, exploding and completely destroying the other team, sometimes we would also do it to each other and see how many kills we could rack up (repeat with remote mines (also filling a room with remotes and detonating them when someone walked in )).

By myself I would have to say anything from the Hitman series, knifing or grenading a guy in CounterStrike, and sniping the unsuspecting player in any shooter.

Heh, that reminds me of the time a friend and I set up a knives-only duel in GoldenEye 64. Score's tied at 1 each, with about five seconds left on the clock. We happen to enter a room at the same time, aim, and toss.
Result: double kill; game ends in a draw.
The mini-crossbow is very amusing in Deus Ex, especially when loaded with tranq bolts. Giving Maggie Chow a couple of these, then climbing up a ladder out of her reach and waiting for her to drop was sheer hilarity.
One of the Quake expansion packs - I forget the name - added proximity grenades to the mix. It was very possible to lob the things in such a way that they settle 'inside' the space occupied by a health pack. As you can well imagine, woe unto whoever rounds the corner in need of same.
And stealth kills in general are always fun... in GTA: San Andreas, my weapons of choice were the Ka-Bar and suppressed 9mm.

Josiah Aug 3, 2006 03:58 PM

You know those dumb dogs in Silent Hill that just take passing lunges at you over and over again? I once timed it just right that when one of those lunged at me, it got a faceful of my Emergency Hammer. Awesome.

It's always fun (and to me, hilarious) in Halo (1 or 2, in this case it was 1) to come up behind some unsuspecting sniper and beat him down. Perhaps what really made doing that to someone on a CTF map funny was the guy's reaction. Basically, it was something to the effect of:

"OMG"
"TEAM!"
