Oh, an English version? Well that changes everything. I tried it back in the day when all of GFF was jumping on board, and just about died from all the kawaii. Then that quickly turned to "What do all these buttons do? How do I make this tent go away? What are all these rude Japanese people saying to me?"

If I can actually navigate and have some degree of confidence that I know what my controls actually do, I think I might be interested again. Is it my understanding that this game is "free"? Do they support themselves by selling in-game stuff or something?

Yeah in the Japanese version you could use real money to buy ingame stuffs (and get a significant advantage for it), I believe the items didn't expire like they do on Gunbound and MapleStory, but they also required high levels to wear.

Not really sure of how it will work on here though, we'll have to see.

Well, I personally am not concerned with whether the game will have cash users or not since I would bee too cheap to buy anything anyway. What I will be watching out for is the quality of the quests given and if the armor and items will be 'evenly' distributed in terms of power. I don't mind there being a really strong and rare weapon, but not to the extent where people will go crazy over it like the did in maple story over crap like panlids.

Anyone here that's actually played the game and can answer some simple questions?

I was trying to browse a few sites for resources, but unfortunately the majority of people who seem to post on English-language Trickster sites are massively incoherent or just... unhelpful.

So, I was taking a look at the Fox (Sense) class, and I was wondering about skill builds.

Power
* Attack: Determines the amount of damage done to enemies
* Hit Rate: Determines accuracy of attacks
* Delay: Time between attacks. This is the only skill that decreases in value
Magic
* Max MP: MP available for casting spells and using skills
* Magic Attack: Determines the damage done by spells
* Magic Defense: Increases resistance to enemy spells
Sense
* Capacity: How much weight your character can carry
* Perception: Digging accuracy, customization ability, and critical attack damage
* Luck: Affects spell, skill, and gun hit rate and critical attack rate
Charm
* MAX HP: The amount of HP available to your character for taking damage
* Defense: Your character's resistance to physical attacks
* Evasion: How swift your character is at dodging and blocking attacks

It says common builds for Foxes are 1144 or 1243, but I'm curious about hit rate, or accuracy. The sense stat adds accuracy for guns, but it says nothing about throwing objects (which I am told are a Fox's weapon of choice).

Do Foxes need Power, which adds hit rate for every other char? Or does Sense cover their hit rate as well? I would assume it does, but I dunno... maybe I just play too much RO.

Be sure to have 3.7 GB free on your drive before you install, though. The 399MB installation file is rather sneaky.

I've only ever spoken to one high leveled fox when I dabbled with jTrickster, and they were 1144. They seemed to do well enough on their own. The thing with Foxes is that they use their "zomg hueg weight" to their advantage by being able to hold a ton of items, rather than being some one hit wonder like a Bunny.

I was talking to some friends of mine from MapleStory (yes a lot of MS players are going to be migrating here, beware) and they wanted to do some all female type party with the four of us each being a different class. This way we could take advantage of the ROYAL Party method (1 of each class and all the same gender) and get 1.5x more exp o=

Trickster login will probably not work until 7 AM EST. They are taking down the SSO login from 11 PM to 7 AM EST to fix it up (Finally?), which means (probably) that you won't be able to login until that time.

Sucks, but hopefully this is the last delay. I just wish they had posted it on the main Trickster website...

This patcher is seriously frustrating. I've had it on for 5 hours and have 15 bars. Then, it just stops. It SAYS I'm going at 23kb/s, but it's not doing anything. It hasn't for the last 20 minutes.

I'm hesitating as to whether or not I should just exit the patcher and start it again ;_;

This really reminds me of when RO started it's beta phase here. I don't think it was as bumpy but it sure is similiar. Alot of things in this game have been giving me a RO feel since hearing about it actually. Maybe it's the korean thing.

I guess I'll know if it suddenly goes down for 5 months or its GM starts PMSing and kills everyone with a mass amount of monsters. D:

I'll bet 10 bucks it either doesn't make it or goes down the moment it comes up. They they'll say they need another week or month to fix it, heh.

Are any of you guys going to wait when it actually is up for the massive noob flood to die down a bit, or are you going to jump right in? I think I might just start just to get a head start. Classes
There are four classes. The first four are girls, and the last four are guys. Comparable ginger classes are the Dragon and the Sheep, but they’re both a Magic class. Now that that’s cleared up, you can understand it better.

People are asking which class is the best, (Since I played Japanese Trickster). I can say they are all equal. they have pros and cons just like any game and they do a lot of damage at low levels I’m NOT a Pro at this game I’m as much a newb as the next guy but I did play it before.

Power Type
Warriors, strong and swift, these characters hit their mark and hit it hard. The warrior has little capacity for magic, and is a bit unlucky at digging, but this is more than made up for by moderately high defense and HP.

Characters: Bunny / Buffalo
Excels in: Attack Power, Hit Rate, Attack Speed

Magic Type
Masters of the elements and seekers of knowledge, mages are the only characters capable of utilizing magic. Mages are typically physically weak, however, and low in defensive capabilities. They are lucky, however, and have ample space available to carry their scrolls and potions around with them on their journey.

Characters: Sheep / Dragon
Excels in: MP, Magic Attack, Magic Defense

Sense Type
The lucky packrats of the group, these characters can carry quite a bit of treasure around with them--a very good thing since they are also the best suited for digging. Their high perception abilities also makes them efficient at customizing their own items and equipment, and none can match their marksmanship with a musket. They are, unfortunately, very low on strength and speed, and have low HP and defense.

Characters: Fox / Lion
Excels in: Carrying Capacity, Perception, Luck

Charm Type
Manipulating their surroundings is the charmer's way of life. Defense is their specialty, while indirect, unconventional attacks are their preference--a trait that sets them apart from warriors. They have moderate speed and some luck, but are very low on MP.

Skill Builds
TricksterMart user 'IHateIDz' recomends these skill builds for each class (thanks IHateIDz):

Power: 4123
Magic 1432
Sense: 3142
Charm: 2224

When you're first creating your character you have a choice of 1-4 on each and must add up to 10. This is where the confusing part comes in,

It is NOT like MS where every time you level up you can add skills. When you first create your character you have to add the 4 skills upto 10 maximum 1-4 on each. So say for example you're creating a character and I put 4132, (4 Power, 1 Magic, 3 Perception, 2 Charm) that means every time you level up you gain 4 Power, 1 Magic, 3 Perception, 2 Charm. IMPORTANT: you must stick with the build you created in the beginning!

Skill build info from the official site
This is where your character's proficiency in the four skill areas is set. One of them is always locked at 4 depending on character type. The remaining three can be modified as desired. The four skill areas are Power, Magic, Sense, and Charm. In-game, primarily while chatting, these skill areas are commonly given as four-digit numbers. In this example, the character is a 2341.

The proficiency rating forms a ratio to determine how fast your character moves up in abilities. In general, a proficiency rating of 4 on an area means that for every four levels your character attains, this skill area will have increased 4 times. A proficiency rating of 3 means that for every four levels, this area will have increased 3 times. This is always out of four levels, so in essence, an area with proficiency of 1 will increase at only 1/4 the speed of an area with proficiency of 4.

The official Trickster page has a glitch with the login system, just wait until launch day (July 24).

TM Lv: The minimum TM level required in order to learn the skill
TMP: The number of points necessary to learn the skill
M TMP: The number of points needed to master a skill

Actually, we're all pretty much just waiting for the damn thing to go up so we can play. It's just gotten to the point that if we have to wait until some ungodly hour, we might as well make sure we get the names first then play again later when we're not about to pass out.

If it actually goes up at its scheduled time (2 AM Friday, PST) I'll be playing for sure. Newbie rush be screwd (I'll be one of them :( )

Trust some korean company to fuck up their own planning with uncomprehendable business partners.

I don't know what the rush is for names, the game is only slightly hyped for it's RO-esque look and MMORPG offerings. Apparently the max level is 999, and levelling slows down dramatically after 100, but that shouldn't be much of an issue because people won't be maxing out their characters any time soon.

The game is certainly much nicer when it's in a language you can actually understand. Login still sucks, though! Anything that MAKES you run IE in order to play it is kind of dodgy.

I was kind of pissed at the start since they didn't start EXACTLY at 2 AM PST. Figuring that they would delay again til some "even" time (like the half hour or something) I started watching something else... then at around 20 minutes in I checked and people were logging on. Crap! Logged in in a hurry and tried to get the names I wanted, but.... &*^*&#$^. Ah well.

Playing this game makes me feel like going outside and kicking pigeons. Let's start getting character names from people in here. My two so far are:

FrostyBuns (Bunny hunny!) and i'm gonna make another one later on called Megido. (still unsure about class though)

Hm... I tried to download this game. But way too long and too slow downloading it normally. Can I download it with download accerator to speed it up without messing up file?

Wah. cant even start the game. I press start game after the full screen window comes up and it freezes. Damn. I guess I'll wait a day or two...

Alright, I quit. I can't stand the login system. It refuses to work on my computer. Firefox can login fine to the SSO system, but it simply does not work with IE. I've flushed the cache, cleared cookies, disabled/enabled activeX add-ons, set/unset proxies, rebooted, and SSO still only manages to successfully log me in after literally a few dozen tries. Considering that you can only launch the game via the activeX control in IE, and the game is still a buggy piece of software which kicks me out for stuff like switching maps, I'm not going to bother anymore.

This is a shame because what I saw of Trickster was pretty intriguing, but if ntreev decides to make it a pain in the ass for players to access the game, they're just shooting themselves in the foot.

If you are having a hard time connecting to the server, it is because there is 2,500 player limitation for Closed Beta service. Our server has been maxed out with players just few hours after the service started. But don't give up yet. If somebody logs-off out of that 2,500, you always have the chance to fill in the empty spot.

Server connection aside, there have been some cases of people having trouble logging into tricksteronline.com / gamengame.com, so it's not as if it's an isolated problem...

Chill, man. Connection issues of various sorts are not always related to server capacity.

I can't get past the character login screen. It disconnects me and sends me back to the Game Start screen.

Was it using Game & Game then? With that ActiveX login mechanism? I seriously doubt that, because they would have ironed out the bugs a long time ago if it were the case.

Nevertheless, I was being rather harsh on Ntreev; it isn't their fault that the login system wasn't working, rather it's gamengame that dropped the ball. Once they fixed it though, Ntreev's servers are actually quite stable for a beta.

I finally got to play (not even at my own house but my friend's) and the amount of lag was actually not too bad considering the fact that the second island was near full. I leveled up to about ten before the server disconnected me and would'nt let me log on again for no reason. You can add me (kawaiibox) if you want, otherwise I'll go looking for you guys myself.
