Okay, I'm sure many of you are familiar with boxtorrents by now. I've made a thread concerning their up and down status in the past before and I figure since it is likely that they'll go down again in the future I might as well create a thread for it once more.

For those unfamiliar with boxtorrents it is a website that only hosts torrents of complete series, ovas, mangas, hentais, soundtracks, and various other large collections. While they don't carry certain licensed material (ADV and a few others) they have just about everything else and full torrents of recently completed current series. So yeah it's a pretty important and useful website.

I was wondering where it was while at the same time trying to dispel a conspiracy for getting my internet back but the site was down.

Now I know what the deal was, thanks for the info Acer.

This is why I kind of wish you could set edit permissions for certain users per thread. I'd definitely give you permission to edit the first post, dude, if it was possible.

But hey I did say I was going to sleep last time so I must have forgotten since yeah I totally used box yesterday.

It's been down for about 24 hours now, if not more. I guess maybe they are going to have to look for a new host.

Thanks, I'll go look into this. Hopefully they'll have it up again soon and that any torrents that were running are still okay to go. I've been downloading Legend of Galactic Heroes and I'd hope that it's still been downloading from people using the torrent all this time. Oh well. Updating the first post.

Yeah, box is still down but if you were torrenting from there before it went down you may still be able to connect to people seeding. I am for Legend of Galactic Heroes. Getting good speeds too. =)

I'm watching Ep 103 of LOGH now. I'm really hating it now, but I'm forcing myself to get through the ending. The intro music changed later in the series, and is really bugging me, but I can skip past it. The store is less believeable now, and I'm understanding the characters less and less. I'll try seed it again anyway, as clients using the distributed database should find it.

As for a long series to watch, I'd recommend Monster.

I was wondering how most people can search on boxtorrent.com since it's still not possible to signup and the searchfunction over there is only possible via signing up???

The current user account limit (145,000) has been reached. Inactive accounts are pruned all the time, please check back again later...

Happens all the 24/7 no sign up possible. Can anybody post a link to a search result with lets say kenshin for example? In that case I may be able to use the searchfunction with just altering the URL.

In approximetly 11 hours from RIGHT NOW, ~500 accounts will be purged from the data base. Be quick and you should be able to get an account, this is done ~every 24 hours. so if you dont get it tomorrow, you can try the next day.

Boxtorrents seems to be down again.

Funny enough, my account (which is 2 years old) hasn't been purged automatically yet; even though I can't even remember the last time I logged in.

Must have been down only for a few hours then. It's up now.

Just to let you guys know, after Acer said that boxtorrents is back up, I went in to check. That's when some pop-up came up, and my McAfee detected a trojan in my temp. folder. Called 4444444.htm or something. Luckily it got deleted though.

That sucks. Stupid Internets. :(

The site is back up again, however I have been unable to use it for the longest time due to me forgetting my password, my ISP's server-side spam blocker blocking the reset e-mail, and being unable to log into the Box forums and request the address be changed (since they required activation of the fourm account from within your profile.)

Just 2 more users need to be wiped and I can make a new account...

For those of you who can't get on:

I think its down again... the site, anyway. I haven't been able to get on there for about 4 hours now. I guess the tracker is ok since mt torrents are still seeding. Does anyone know if when the site is down, does your account still get its stats updated?

I'd tell you what was going on if I could but for reasons unknown to me my address to their irc channel is banned. I haven't gone there in months and I never say anything worthy of a ban so I'm clueless as for the reason why. Maybe aku could shed some light but yeah the website and forums are down.

I was just wondering if there was anyone who could actually log on to boxtorrents. Because I've been reading around and it doesn't seem like its being restricted to just those IP addresses. Just wondering.

Site, forums, and tracker are down and they have *.ip range banned on IRC. That's why I can't get to it and why a bunch of people can't. Tails was able to though. Not sure why it's down though.

I couldn't get in yesterday either but it seems like its back up.

Yup, it's back. However the *.ip bans on IRC are still in place which sucks ass.

Yup. It looks like they're down. The server won't even respond to any ping calls.

Nope. I noticed that a couple hours ago myself but figured I'd wait a bit since they sometimes have quick downtimes.

They were messing with things, it seems. The box is up!

I have been nailed by spyware numerous times on box, its almost to the point where I will never go back.

It is usually caused by a pop-up.

Anyone else have this problem lately?

You still usually get just one pop-up with Firefox unless you have some fancy plug-in or something.

adblock and ad block EVERTYING you see you dont want :p its really easy
