What are you currently REPLAYING (prefix RE)?

As the title suggest. Just shadowing the other thread on this similar topic.

As for me, I am replaying Valkyrie Profile hopefully and I've already started Metal Gear Solid and the Shadow of Collosus although I will be done with those soon. I am also going to enjoy replaying Final Fantasy VII again...for the 5th time...:boxing:

Spatula Jun 29, 2006 12:54 AM

I did try replaying MGS3: Subsistence this time on EZ mode. I'm up to the part just after meeting Eva. Somehow, it's just lost it's touch on such simple "difficulty" if you could call it that. No more sneaking; you just take out the EZ gun and run around like the Snakernator capping everyone to sleep (and then pressing X twice and crawling on top of them). I could just go back to either normal or hard, but now I'm not really bothered.

I don't know when I'll replay VP1. But this time for sure I'll do hard mode to get all the difficult levels and even get into the Sepheric Gate.

Also: More like Hairdelloon. LOL.

WraithTwo Jun 29, 2006 01:45 AM

I'm currently replaying Metroid Prime 2, and my god is the Prime series beautiful. Everytime I sit down for a session, I appreciate the series a little more.

Rockgamer Jun 29, 2006 01:51 AM

I don't know if it would technically be considered replaying, as each game is slighty different, but I'm playing Resident Evil: Deadly Silence again for the fourth time. I already beat the game with Jill and Chris in Classic Mode, and with Jill in Rebirth Mode, so now I'm playing the game one last time with Chris in Rebirth Mode. I'm about halfway done, but I'm debating whether I actually want to finish or not, as I'm getting pretty bored with the game after playing nearly the same thing almost four times already.

Freelance Jun 29, 2006 06:25 AM

I'm currently replaying FFVII. The only problem is, I don't often find the time to play it, and as it isn't one of my favourite RPGs, I don't seem to feel motivated enough to play it when I do find the time. I really should replay it, though. The plot was confusing enough as it is. Playing it through again should make it easier to understand.

JasonTerminator Jun 29, 2006 11:43 AM

Star Wars: KOTOR 2.

Evil this time. I didn't really get into KOTOR 2 as much as #1, so I didn't immediately replay it, but I am now.

I'm now going to buckle down and actually try to beat Assignment Ada. Once done that i'll do a run through of pro mode with the Chicago typewriter. After that, maybe i'll be brave enough to go through pro mode with carried over weapons and items, then after that, the big score, pro mode, square one.

This is my post in the other thread. I guess it fits here.

My gaming is going to be put more or less on hold for the summer. I think i'm gonna go rent a random game tonight and play it this weekend. I'm really wanting to play Darkwatch again. I've only rented it, but i'd like to play it through someday.

Summonmaster Jun 29, 2006 01:39 PM

I am currently replaying Chrono Trigger to get the multiple endings now that I've finished the game at a breezable level.

As well, going to start up Final Fantasy V for the 3rd time or so, with my all jobs mastered file having mysteriously vanished one day.

dusk Jun 29, 2006 02:14 PM

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty

Though, this time the Substance version on Xbox (does that count?), since I just found it at Gamestop for about $10. I wanted to re-understand the whole Patriots ordeal. I'm still kinda confused about them. As well as the purpose of Arsenal Gear. So much friggin' information in this damn game. I'M ONLY HUMAN, KOJIMA!!!! HUUUUUUMAAAAAN!!!!!!!

Elixir Jun 29, 2006 03:31 PM

Wow, I haven't replayed through a game in a very long time. I suppose Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow was my last. I'm in the middle of hard mode, but it really isn't all that hard. Castlevania games unfortunately are never known for their length.

If you count fighting, music, and shooting games, then yeah, sure, I'm replaying them constantly.

Gechmir Jun 29, 2006 09:03 PM

Shadow Hearts: Covenant currently <3 Real tearjerker at scenes. I should've replayed #1 then gotten to this.

I stopped playing it RIGHT at the end since my PS2 fried. Lost my God of War data as well but I had the ending given away to me so I'm content. But I dunno what happens in Covenant. Just starting up. About to get Joachim. I forgot how great the humor in this game was! ;D I love it so damn much.

NovaX Jun 30, 2006 12:41 AM

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. I finished about a week after I first purchased it and hadn't touched it since, but I picked it up again last week. I am only a couple of chapters in so far, but god I love this game.

Render Jun 30, 2006 01:32 AM

EVERYTHING. PERIOD.

Literally, every game that is on my computer and consoles. This is a list of games that I have, and the ones in red are the games I've beaten. Pink are games that I don't own but want, or games that aren't released yet. Here's my list:

http://www.sky-render.com/stuff

I realize now that I may never play most of these games ever again, because newer games are stealing my attention and time. Most of these old games just don't bring about the same feelings of excitement anymore. Or some of them are too simple to play. For example, I'm playing Final Fantasy 6 and I'm constantly thinking about how the story could be deeper in certain parts, or how the script is just basic english, with little feeling.

So this is the last stand for many games that I've been playing for many years of my life, and they will be missed.

electric_eye Jun 30, 2006 05:31 AM

Man I have a list of games that I have owned and completed. Also another list where I have given the games a rating.

Just now though I don't know if I can spend the time to replay anything, I'm in a situation where I own games which I have not even started. I want to have played most of my games and get trading so I can experience some other games. I do have an urge to replay Front Mission 3 even though I've completed both sides of the story.

Yeah, that's a re-pickup from a while ago.

packrat Jun 30, 2006 04:46 PM

As soon as I get back to school, I will most likely break out Unreal Tournament 2004 once again and have some refreshing local tournaments. I will be reinstalling C&C:Generals and the expansion (Zero Hour?) soon as well. There is just something uniquely alluring about sweeping over the world with a horde of Overlord tanks that other games cannot provide.

I'm going to run through Myst 5 again, just to see if there are any fun things which I might have missed in my first run-through.

Sol Jul 1, 2006 09:00 PM

Currently I'm replaying Final Fantasy Tactics and nearing the end. I even might try a single character challenge for the hell of it and see how tough it is. Gotta stay occupied until something worthwhile hits the shelves.

xman25 Jul 2, 2006 03:42 PM

I'm going through 'Max Payne' for the XBOX again. The gameplay is repeatitive, but fun. I like the way the game tells the story. The acting is great. I'm going through the hardest difficult setting, 'Dead on Arrival'. It can be really tough.

I've never been able to bring myself to finish that game. I loved the first one, but after playing the second one twice, I still have yet to finish it. It just seems like it's half the game the first was.

Oh and I'm replaying Baldur's Gate 2 for the umpteenth time. It's nearly infinately replayable because of the myriad of character options. I might give the original Icewind Dale a shot, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to put up with the bad UI.

Starwars Jul 3, 2006 05:47 AM

Well, I'm playing through Dragon quest VIII for the first time now. After that I think I'm gonna play through either Silent hill 2 or 3 again. Great games.

I might also start playing Vampire the masquerade: Bloodlines for the PC again. Never got into it when it was released, mostly because my PC at the time couldn't really handle it well. Gonna give it a whirl now again because it seemed like a good game.

solid_snake Jul 9, 2006 01:12 AM

im replaying haunting ground on the ps2, this game is creepy enough to challenge silent hill...

no really , this game really suspensive and you never know what might happen and when, it really brings you into the tension of the game's atmosphere.

even when im replaying , i just cant stop being frightened whenever an enemy comes lurking around the corner.

Nexius Jul 10, 2006 03:52 AM

Not too far back, I rented MGS3: Substinance for the first time, and holy crap did I love it. That, of course, made me go hunting through bargain bins to buy the original MGS and MGS2. Played and beat the both of those, and am considering giving MGS3 another run-through for the hell of it. Such great games.

Also, I've been trying to pull myself to complete the only two FF's I never beat... V and VIII. So far, I'm failing.

FadedReality Jul 13, 2006 06:44 AM

Replaying Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory at the moment. I just can't get enough of the slitting of the throats. It's too great.

Fire On Ice Jul 13, 2006 08:14 AM

I picked up FFIX again the other day for no apparent reason. I was going to continue with the game I began a couple months ago but I had long since forgotten what I was supposed to do next in the game, so I just started a new one.

randomwab Jul 17, 2006 07:08 AM

Devil May Cry 3

I got tired of waiting for the Special Edition to come out in Europe so I just went ahead and started playing it again. Trying it on Hard this time, but not finding it too difficult.

Tappy Jul 17, 2006 08:44 AM

At the moment I'm replaying Banjo Tooie.
I started playing my original version on the N64, but I just couldn't bare the low resolution graphics quality anymore after having tried to let Banjo work on my PC (with Project64)....with which the graphics quality is absolutely freakin' amazing!
I recently bought a USB adapter for my N64 Controller and now I'm playing it on my PC instead!
(much better indeed...especially with the "save state" function and finding out there's a secret "Bottle's Revenge" mode in the ROM of Banjo Tooie....which can only be found with a gameshark or the cheat function in Project 64!!)

Mithos Jul 17, 2006 10:05 AM

Star Ocean, Till the End of Time for me.
Probably one of the most hated games of all time - but I really like it. The story's pretty good, although the presentation of various elements of the story is absolutley horrible.

However, the gameplay (battle system) is great. I like real-time battle systems. And in my opinion, Star Ocean, TtEoT's battle system is complicated enough to keep one busy trying out combinations and various strategies, but simple enough to capture one's interest in the first place.

I don't generally like putting restrictions on myself when replaying games (eg, saying "I must only use physical attacks" or "I must not use any stat increases" or "I must beat the game at level 6"), but I do enjoy seeing how efficient I can be (speed running and such). So this time, I'm seeing how long it takes me to do each battle (boss battle, more like) and making sure the method I use is systematic and efficient.

...I do seem to be a bit over-algorithmic in my approach to games (and like, everything else) these days. Perhaps the abundance of mathematics around me is having a negative side-effect. Increasingly so, because higher mathematics is anything but algorithmic...oh well.

Mana Knight Jul 17, 2006 11:10 AM

My most current replay is "Illusion of Gaia" for SNES. One of my all time favourites. Let's not forget about all of the other great SNES RPG's!

Is that the one with Claude and crew? cuase if it is I really liked it. I agree, I really liked the battle system.

You know if you checked out Yama's journal, you would know that he is not just playing Tales of Phantasia but absolutely destroying the game.

In the mean time, yama is a banana.

I am still replaying Valkyrie Profile although I don't think I am going to get around to Final Fantasy VII. I want to play Xenogears again tho.

THIEF Jul 17, 2006 01:43 PM

RPGs are scary. Before I start a new RPG I feel like I'm making a commitment to my playstation and my television.

Gosh, I'm such a loser...

Mithos Jul 17, 2006 03:02 PM

I have to say that I feel the same way, in a particular sense.

When I buy a game, I experience a certain sense of duty to complete it too. Although that's perhaps because there's money involved, and it's always a good idea to get the most out of a purchase...

Anyway, back to my dearly beloved Star Ocean (which I just completed...I feel empty inside now). If you liked Star Ocean II's battle system, then you'll probably enjoy Star Ocean III's. It's a bit lacking on the 'adding points to obscure talents' section, but the battles are a lot better. I felt that SO II tended to reduce itself to mashing and spamming too quickly.
Then again, if you know how, you can sort of mash and spam your way through SO III on even the hardest difficulty setting. Right, enough rambling from me.
I may replay Xenosaga II. No wait, that'll only make me want XS I and XS III more...

YoMan Jul 29, 2006 05:53 PM

Funny story: A couple of months ago i decided to replay Chrono Cross on my PS2. I got about 2-3 hours into it when i decided to save for the first time. I got a pretty shocking surprise when i noticed that i didn't have a PS1 memory card. Now I could have borrowed one from a friend of mine, but i was so pissed that i just turned of the ps2 :)

Anyway, that was the most recent attempt to replay something.

evilboris Jul 30, 2006 08:23 AM

I'm trying to replay Halo on Legendary mode, but I don't think I'll be able to beat half of the levels. The AI is just way too good.

WolfDemon Jul 30, 2006 03:42 PM

As soon as my sexy new computer gets here, I'll be playing through Half Life 2 again. This time in it's full potential. After that I'll probably pick up Doom 3 again.

Wai Aug 4, 2006 02:46 PM

Not really now, but I replayed a few of my old gamecube games last months. First it was tales of symphonia. after that metroid prime, i tried to replay mp2 but i went straight to Metal Gear Solid: TS. I replayed TS a few times to gain all Dog Tags in easy mode, then i got bored because of Stealth camoflage and bandana.
latest game I replayed was Zelda The Wind Waker :D I got all treasure maps, but then i got bored of treasure hunting

maybe i should replay MP again

Sarmoti Aug 4, 2006 04:23 PM

Been replaying Breath of Fire III for the past couple of days. I just beat the first round in the Tournament of Champions by finishing off the Dodai that Claw stood on.
I was going to wait to take out the Dodai during the third round with Patrio but because of his incredible likely hood of getting Lucky Strikes, I was turned away form the idea because I would eventually have to heal my Dodai which would then have him targed me instead of it.

Stupid me for not starting the first battle fully healed :P.

Domino Aug 5, 2006 05:58 PM

I recently found my copy of GT4 (which I thought I had sold) and discovered that I still had my old save file, so I decided to have a go on it. Took me a while to get back into the style of driving after playing driving games with "arcade-style" handling, but got the hang of it now though.

Freelance Aug 5, 2006 07:43 PM

Had an inking to replay Indiana Jones and The Emperor's Tomb again. I've never won it yet, so it's a good time as any to do it. I'm starting over from the beginning though, as I ran into some problems halfway through that's making it hard for me to get past the level.

Has anyone else played it? I think it's pretty darn cool. I just love the combat system.

Eleo Aug 6, 2006 04:31 AM

I'm currently replaying Metal Gear Solid 3 (Subsistence) in European Extreme. Some parts were vastly more difficult than others. A few of them were just insanely frustrating. All of the bosses were difficult. I'm at the part where I'm trying to drag EVA's slow ass through the jungle. I don't know how I'm going to pass it, considering I can't get detected at all.

It's been interesting, the kind of tactics I've employed. One area was insanely difficult for me because there were multiple guards, no good hiding places, watch dogs, and to top it off I was 90% unarmed and without camouflage. I struggled with the part for hours, then finally passed it by rushing all the guards behind their backs and knocking them out with cigarette spray. While I was doing it, I was like, "this is never going to work. I'm sooo caught."

AlleyDog Aug 12, 2006 06:22 PM

Awhile back I started to replay Emperor's Tomb too, but I stopped to play something else. Right now I'm replaying Jak 2 along with Solis, but it's a lot harder than I remember.. When it came out 3 years ago, I got to the final boss in under a week, but it's taking a lot longer this time..

I was replaying Ratchet & Clank 2 and 3 a few weeks ago, but Solis got so far ahead of me so quickly that I quit once he won! He's evil... :D

Amanda Aug 12, 2006 10:17 PM

I'm almost finished a replay of Seiken Densetsu 3, but I've already started replaying Fatal Frame 2. Just finished the third one and feel like playing more, but I need to give 3 a break before I go back to it. So 2 it is. Right now I'm playing through with an FAQ to start unlocking extras, get the stuff I missed the first time, and complete the spirit list.

Even with that on my plate, Morrowind has been calling me again...

Kostaki Aug 13, 2006 07:04 AM

I've been replaying Phoenix Wright almost all the time doing the cases over and over and over again. It's just too much of a blast. The fun thing is, I still get temporarily stuck on certain things while I remember how to solve them. That's the overall beauty of the game.

I'll never ever touch Star Ocean 3 again. Why you ask? Because I've already logged 1000+ hours on it doing this shit when I went to war with the game.

Dalkaen Aug 13, 2006 07:29 AM

I finished Chrono Cross for the second time recently, and I'm replaying FFVIII and Ogre Battle 64 at the moment. I'm about 80% finished with OB64; more people really need to play it. It's one of my favorite games.

Xellos Aug 13, 2006 03:14 PM

Valkyrie Profile for the 9th time I believe. One of the few games that never seems to get boring no matter how many times you replay it.

I blame the battle system.

randomwab Aug 13, 2006 04:26 PM

FFX and FFVIII, and I lost count of how many times I've played them. I'm considering replaying FFVI too... stupid thing is that I lost about 230 hours alone of gameplay from FFX and a lot from FFVI when I misplaced my memory cards >.<; as for FFVIII, the computer had a major crash and I lost my incredible amount of gameplay there too... I suppose I'm trying to complete them again to make up for it or something. I just finished replaying MGS2 the other day as well; I don't have too many new games to play, but I guess that's okay because I love the old ones so much :)

Sarmoti Sep 6, 2006 10:44 PM

I'm currently replaying through Legend of Legaia again. I still can't believe how hard this mother is! I love it though, every boss after the first has the ability to wipe out a single party member with a no-block combo.

Edit:Btw, could anybody tell me if the sequel 'Legaia 2: Duel Saga' is just as hard as the first game? I'm thinking about getting it for my birthday. I'm sick of all these RPGs with their difficulty levels aimed towards little kids.

Rakka Sep 6, 2006 11:35 PM

I just started replaying Chrono Cross yesterday...actually, I wound up having to buy an original Playstation, since my PS2 can't seem to read PS1 disks anymore. At least the system came with a copy of Driver (and a memory card...and a Dual Shock, and one of those ancient digital controllers)...maybe that'll be the next game I replay!

...but probably not.

Hopefully, I can pick up on all of the little plot twists and details that I missed my first time through the game, though it's been years since I played it for the first time and I can hardly remember anything from the game's plot. If nothing else, I can just pause at the menu in about a dozen places in the game and fall asleep to the music...it's so beautiful...

Darkcomet72 Sep 9, 2006 01:26 PM

I've been replaying Perfect Dark. I completely forgot I never beat it on PA difficulty, and I also forgot how awesome this game was. This is how nonlinearity SHOULD be: overcoming obstacles in any order any way you see fit in order to attain the short term goal of completing the stage.

TheKnightOfNee Sep 9, 2006 02:04 PM

A friend and I decided to play through Mega Man X6 on the xtreme difficulty while not collecting or using any items or power ups, just the X buster the whole way through. Some stages were brutal to get through, like Blaze Heatnix's, and Infinity Minjinion heals himself during battles on xtreme, which meant we spent an hour trying to beat him. We just hit the final levels of the game, and realized one item is needed just to make it through the level because of poor game design, so we just grabbed that one. But anyways, this is freaking hard, and in three hours of play, we didn't get through the first boss.

For Guilty Gear XX, I'd say you'd have to beat all the missions, unlock all the characters (IE RoboKy if it's not #Reload or Slash, Justice, and Kliff) beat arcade mode on hardest difficulty with every character, go through every story mode branch (3 endings for each character minus Justice) and probably a few other things I forgot.

As for me, I'm replaying nothing currently, though I'll probably go for Valkyrie Profile again on my PSP when I have time.

Twikite Sep 11, 2006 12:24 AM

You may have heard of this one: Chrono Trigger.

It's been a good half-decade since I "completed" it, and I didn't even attempt to get any alternate endings. Right now I've just finished the bike race and wouldn't you know it, I've got that damned fanfare stuck in my head.

I'm thinking of grabbing a copy of Final Fantasy Chronicles from my work for the cutscenes they added. Are they worth it?

Not if you can find them online. The Chronicles version of CT takes a second or two to load before and after each battle and the music is off from the original by ever so slightly. On the other hand the FF4 included is probably the best overall version of that game in English, so maybe it is worth it.

For my part I decided to celebrate Mario 64's approaching 10th anniversary with a replay. Fun stuff, even today, though I forgot how much I hate the damned Clock level. But that's a post for another topic.

Same here. This time I'm playing through with a mage imported from BG1.

The other games I'm replaying in short bursts could be a nice dose of nostalgia for PC fans: Master of Magic, The Hand of Fate, The Pandora Directive (a real bitch to run on XP), Broken Sword and Privateer. I tried to get back into Wing Commander 1 but somehow I just can't manage to navigate those asteroid fields and mine fields anymore.

Tawnee Van Pelt Sep 19, 2006 02:07 AM

I play Shadow of The Colossus every now and then, I wanna max out my life and strenght.

Besides that, I just ordered a Japanese copy of MGS so I know I'll be hooked up with it for a while.

Dark Nation Sep 30, 2006 01:09 AM

I'm almost done with a re-run of Ocarina of Time, as I'm currently @ the Spirit Temple... I think the most grueling part of the game has been the whole Water Temple, because after that everything was smooth sailing.

Now I go back to getting those Silver Gauntlets!

Erisu Kimu Oct 8, 2006 06:56 PM

I'm replaying Omikron for PC. I'm also tempted to play the original Duke Nukem 3D for PC too.

I've been replaying Tenchu: Stealth Assassins and I'm also thinking of replaying Baldur's Gate II again soon.

BIGWORM Oct 9, 2006 09:15 PM

Another run-through of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for PSX. This'll be the 6th or 7th time, I believe.

Ryuu Oct 9, 2006 09:16 PM

Super Mario 64, because I can - what's up.

I have 25 stars so far - fun fun.

Plus, I don't have any Playstation-related anything with me (or on my laptop)...bah.

Torte Oct 10, 2006 05:14 AM

Just did my regular Dawn of Sorrow again. I must say, Mario 64(DS), GoldenEye 007, Majora's Mask, Mega Man X, SotN, AoS and DoS are the 7 top (non-fighting) games I have that demand way too many replays from me..

Kloak Oct 10, 2006 10:25 AM

Yeah...i finally convinced my friend to play Chrono Trigger and he got so into it he began to tell me whats happening...so i started to play it again just because of the hype he gave it...lol

Then i finally got my Playstation emulator working good so I tested Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night...and now I'm stuck on that once again...lol

If I could get Chrono Cross to work...I would be playing that again also but thats not happening :(

xMxEdGaRx Oct 10, 2006 11:46 AM

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island > I just don't get tired of this game, never gets old, very fun and I love Yoshi!
