ANYHOW, This sale started on Thursday (6/22), I believe, so you might not be able to find any of the listed games. I didn't have any trouble with finding what I wanted today, though.

Basically just print out the list and start hunting through the game aisles at your local Circuit City stores.

Good luck, and feel free to ask any questions.

Helloween Jun 23, 2006 08:18 PM

Too bad there's nothing good on that list.

JazzFlight Jun 23, 2006 08:20 PM

Funny, but there are quite a few gems.

Wild Arms 4
We Love Katamari
The Warriors
Ultimate Spiderman
Mercenaries
Gun

etc...

There are quite a few good picks.

Chaotic Jun 23, 2006 08:42 PM

Ooh, this seems nice. Lucky me I haven't used my gift card yet.

lazuli Jun 23, 2006 09:37 PM

I managed to snag 8-9 titles from this sale, mostly hoping to trade for others I could not find. I can't believe I didn't check for Halo Triple Pack :\ Feels quite ridiculous getting these games stickered at $30+ for $9.

FF IV Advance got bumped up to full price again sometime today. Was probably a mistake to be discounted originally.

After 2 trips to CC and trading I managed to get:
Radiata Stories
Xenosaga II
Tales of Phantasia
Metroid Prime Pinball
Wild Arms 4
Pokemon Sapphire
Trace Memory
FFIV Advance
We <3 Katamari

for 8.96 apiece. Christmas in June :)

I hear Curse of Darkness is pretty good as well. Plus Metal Slug 4 & 5, and the Halo triple pack. That's really all I'm looking for. Hopefully there will be something left by the time I get there.

Ok, i have expressed interest in Wild Arms 4, and Ultimate Spiderman in the past. I actually didn't see those two the first time 'round. At any rate, i've never seen a circuit city in Winnipeg.

I've only played WA 1 and 2. Is four worth it?

As far as I know we don't have them in Manitoba at all, and possibly not in the entire country.

We lose out on a LOT of deals like this.

cubed Jun 23, 2006 10:55 PM

Too bad there's no circuit city stores around. Do they even any in Canada (and more specifically in Québec..) ?

Basil Jun 23, 2006 11:35 PM

Circuit City doesn't exist in Canada. However, they do own a tiny store called The Source, which replaced the Canadian Radioshacks ages ago.

And Dear God, these better not be all sold out by the time I get to visit some of these stores (I'm Canadian as well, so I'm shit outta luck :()

Infernal Monkey Jun 24, 2006 12:43 AM

Haha, $9 for Dig Dug DS. That's due out here in October for $60 US. There's quite a few awesome games on this list, everyone needs to consume Indigo Prophecy. Everyone! Eat! Go go!

Advance Wars and Meteos DS for $9 each? Damn, sometimes I wish I lived in america.

JasonTerminator Jun 24, 2006 02:16 AM

I picked up a ton of games from this sale, and I'm still planning to buy more. Not only that, but I'm trading the Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows I got for Radiata Stories, which is the game I wanted most anyway.

I got:
Lunar DS
DBZ: Supersonic Warriors 2
Wild Arms 4
Indigo Prophecy
Castlevania: COD
Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction
The Warriors
Tales of Phantasia
Final Fantasy IV Advance
We Love Katamari

A much better haul than what I got from the $5 sale a few years ago, so I'm pretty pleased.

guyinrubbersuit Jun 24, 2006 02:19 AM

How long is this sale going on for? Goddamn I wish I knew of this sooner!

xSummonerYUnax Jun 24, 2006 09:31 AM

Unfortunately, all the good games usually run out on the first day here. =(

Rockgamer Jun 24, 2006 10:32 AM

I heard about this earlier, and when I went there yesterday they didn't even have any games on sale for that price. They had the display up, but no games were in it. I highly doubt that they sold out of everything (even the crappy ones) that fast, and I just believe that they are really slow. I'll try to check again sometime soon, though.

EDIT: I called the store to see if they had them for sale yet, and he told me that they aren't going to do it until either Monday or Tuesday. My sister also told me that some people on Gamefags (like they are the trustworthy type) said that this isn't supposed to start until July 4. Considering most stores seem to be starting way earlier than that though, I highly doubt that's right.

Freelance Jun 24, 2006 10:51 AM

Why do you US folks always get all the awesome sales? I mean, I've NEVER seen any such sales here in Canada where brand new games are like, $5. That sucks. It sucks even more to know that there's lots of GBA games that I actually want in the list. Sometimes I wish I lived in the US.

Am I just unlucky?

Just because they say the sale isn't starting until "whenever" and just because the games don't have a label of $8.96 doesn't mean that they won't ring up for that price.

You have to dig through the games and find the ones on the list, then when you check out, just make sure they're ringing up for 8.96. They will.

Skexis Jun 24, 2006 01:14 PM

Well, no luck on my end. All three games I was looking for were gone from the shelves, and there was nothing in the $8.96 bin. I guess they sold out that fast, but then I also saw a few copies of clearance games on the shelves, so I don't know what the hell they're doing.

lazuli Jun 24, 2006 03:10 PM

Just letting people know, though it wasn't on the list, it's confirmed that Exit (PSP) is also included in this sale now.

Thanks for telling me that! I went back there today, and rounded up as many of the games that I even remotely wanted that I could find (so no one else could get them, as a lot of them were the last copy of the game). After I did that, I looked at all of them and decided which ones I really actually wanted, as I didn't want to spend too much.

In the end, I only left with five games, with only two of them being ones I really, really wanted (Wild Arms 4, which they had a lot of, and Karaoke Revolution Volume 3, which they only had one copy left of). As for the other games I got (Indigo Prophecy, Polarium, and The Urbz for DS), I never had any specifc plans on getting, but figured I would since they were cheap.

There were some other games I would have got for sure if they had them (like Kirby and DW5), but I didn't feel it was any big loss that I didn't get them. Since it was a clearance, I doubt they'll be getting any more of them in, but I still may check later in the week just to make sure (they may have had some more, but just didn't have the shelf space for them, as most of the shelves were pretty packed, especially in the GBA section).

I read it. Skipped Xbox and PSP though cause i don't own either of those and don't plan to.

I didn't see anything of interest on that list until Jazz pointed out Ultimate Spiderman and Wild Arms 4, which i must've missed the first time.

Also, i own Advance Wars DS already, and was rather disappointed by Meteos.

This morning I read this, and I thought "Yeah, ok, this guy has no taste. Fair enough, it happens" but after some thinking, why the hell don't you like Meteos? It's like a puzzle game which isn't boring. Do you know how fucking rare that is?

This should be good.

speculative Jun 25, 2006 01:59 PM

Circuit City - YOU NEED TO OPEN A STORE IN MY STATE, ARGHHHHH!!! :aargh:

Dr. Uzuki Jun 25, 2006 02:07 PM

I went yesterday mainly in hopes to find a copy of Meteos with a secondary interest in some of the PS2 titles, We Love Katamari, Radiata Stories.

There was nothing for cheap but Second Sight which, funny enough, isn't even on the list. Everything else was gone.

Rockgamer Jun 25, 2006 03:33 PM

My Circuit City has been selling that game for $7.99 for like the last two or three months, so putting it on the list would have actually raised the price.

I went to another Circuit City today (we have like four or five of them in town, but only two of them are ones that I actually go to), and I managed to find a copy of Dig Dug DS. Dig Dug was one of the two DS games that I actually wanted to get, so I was satisfied with that (I couldn't find the other I wanted though, which was Lunar DS).

I then went back to the other Circuit City to see if they still had that copy of DK: King of Swing, which I had seen yesterday but didn't actually realize it was on the list until today. Of course they didn't have it, but I did manage to find a few copies of Mario Golf Advance Tour buried behind some crappy Disney games. They only had two left, so I promptly picked one up.

That'll probably be it for me. The only games I didn't manage to get that I actually wanted were Dynasty Warriors 5, Lunar Dragon Song, and Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, so that's not too bad, especially comparing that to what I did get.

guyinrubbersuit Jun 25, 2006 05:40 PM

I got Indigo Prophecy for the XB, Dr. Mario & Puzzle League for myself then I bought my girlfriend Batman Begins for the GCN and Harvest Moon for the GBA.

I was compteplating getting Half-Life 2 for the XB. I don't have a PC, would it be worth it or just hold off until I get a PC? I want to get a Mactel, which can run PC games, and I have heard good things of HL2 for the XB.

New chain (or old chain bought out by a new chain, anyway), same grossly inflated prices as ever. I paid less for the (much better) USB adapter I bought online than I would have paid at The Source. And that's INCLUDING shipping. Go figure.

Ryuu Jun 25, 2006 08:42 PM

My Circuit City didn't have much in terms of the fact that they didn't have much on display.

They had an Xbox Clearance display which was thoroughly raped as was the GBA rack. PSP and PS2 was absent however which was depressing...at first.

As I was looking through the normal priced PS2 games I found many of the games on the clearance list still for sale at $29.99 and what not. The only game I really wanted from the list was Radiata Stories and I found it for $29.99. Now I've done the clearance thing before and I remember that Circuit City tends to not mark some of their items down for the clearance when the game is indeed on the list.

So I walked to the register and woohoo $8.96. Bought it and now I'm happy. I may go back to check out a few more games (since I only checked for Radiata Stories specifically).

Buizel Jun 25, 2006 08:43 PM

I went to CC today and I swear every game on that list wasn't there! I wanted to get Polarium, Wario Ware and We Love Katamari. Then I got upset that they have two copies of WarioWare Touched!... because I didn't have enough money. So I left and bought dinner instead. :(

Yeah, just in case somebody didn't figure it out, these games will not be separated from the others yet, nor will they be pricetagged at $8.96, but they will ring up that price.

Not only that, but many stores are pulling the games from their shelves, since this is supposed to be a July 4th sale, so if there aren't any of these games at all, I'd bet that it's been pulled.

It's actually more I got take-out. I could had cook up something but felt lazy to do so yesterday. :p

Dan Jun 27, 2006 05:28 PM

Thank you to the thread starter for passing along this information. I went to the nearest CC here in Miami and got their last copy of Indigo Prophecy for PS2. So far it been well worth the money, so the game come strongly recommended. Wish I had more money to spend on this, I had to decide between the game and lunch that day, bah I need to slim down anyway.

dusk Jun 27, 2006 06:39 PM

Well, I bought the Eyetoy for PS2, Far Cry Instincts and Hulk for Xbox, AND bought me some savory In & Out for dinner. SUCK ON THAT!!!!! AYAYAYAAYAYAY! :P

The hunt continues, however, for Advance Wars DS! I MUST FIND IT.

On a negative note, when I tried to get Final Fantasy IV for GBA, it rang up as $20, and it's supposedly on that list. Bummer.

So did you get the version with that comes with the Eyetoy? My CC had that one, but I figured the sale only accounted for the one without it, so I didn't bother. The same thing with Karaoke Revolution Volume 3: I figured it would only count for the one without the microphone, so I didn't bother to get the one with it (even though they had both). I guess I should have just asked, but meh.

Mucknuggle Jun 27, 2006 08:52 PM

It's at times like these that I wish I had Circuit City here in Montreal. I would love to have Wild Arms 4 for so cheap. I think I'll just ask one of my US GFF friends to mail it to me. :)

Yep, it's the version with the Eyetoy. Don't be afraid to go up to an employee and just ask for a price check. That's what I did.

I hope the sale applies to the Guncon bundle of Crisis Zone, for that would rock. As well as any of the listed DDR/Karaoke games. *hunthunthunts*

Rockgamer Jun 27, 2006 11:42 PM

Well, I doubt they have any left anyway now, and even if they did I'm pretty broke from all the other games I bought. Crisis would have been pretty nice though, cause even though I already have the game, I could use another Guncon. I may just go just to check anyway.

Ryuu Jun 28, 2006 12:08 AM

Well, I went back to Circuit City today (my friend decided to buy a DS Lite) and all the games on the list were no longer on the shelves. I doubt they were all sold so they were probably taken down in relation to the sale being on the fourth of July (or whatever).

Either way, I'll probably check my CC every so often to try and get one or two more games. I would like to get my hands on Crisis Zone actually.

SuperDK Jun 28, 2006 01:03 AM

My brother picked up Castlevania, Sigma Star Saga, Wild Arms 4 (and 3, though not one of those games, was only $13), and 2 copies of Guilty Gear DS (just for multiplayer purposes). Unfortunately, Radiata Stories wasn't there, so I guess I'll just have to get it some other time.

Battle_CRY Jun 28, 2006 11:40 AM

I think Circuit City is still having a clearance or atleast a sale because they are selling a few comps for relatively low price....so I think there still might be a clearance going on....and hey ryuu, is omnislash still getting a ds lite because I think there were still some good games for it at Best Buy - but no clearance...so I'd say Circuit City is the way to go!!!

This should be good.

I found Meteos to be a little straight forward, and not much to it. My friend asked for it back after about a week. Maybe i didn't get a good enough impression of the game, but from what i saw, it didn't entertain me.

Chaotic Jun 28, 2006 02:22 PM

That's usually the effect it has. You're not highly impressed by it, but when you actually get some 1-on-1 time with it, you realize it's pretty damn good. Happened with me also.

mortis Jun 28, 2006 10:42 PM

At the CC near my home, my 'rents scoped it out but found they were all normal priced. They have been alerted however and will be checking on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of July. THanks for the heads up on it all...

The CC I went to had plenty to go around, as if they just got a shipment that day. Don't be afraid to look.

And I'm with the others that think they're "hiding" some games until the 4th. The first day I went to check the sale, I asked two employees if it was currently happening and they said 'Not until July 4th', but it was only until I got a price check on one of the games that I realized either they didn't know shit or they were lying.

Well, I went there three days in a row, and while they only had about one or two left the first two days, they didn't have any left on the third. I might see if they have any on July 4th or whenever, but I don't want the game bad enough to leep checking everyday until then.

And yeah, the employees don't seem to know anything. Everytime I bought something from the list, the cashier had a surprised look on their face, like they didn't even know they were having a clearance. You would think they would be informed about these things.

Looks like CC won't be listing any titles in their ad for the 4th, so don't expect to price match any of these games.

It seems those of us who are not clamoring, soulless ghouls when it comes to saving money are shit out of luck.

I don't suppose someone over in america could get me a copy of Advance Wars for $9? I really don't want to end up paying $40 over here for the exact same thing. It's an essential requirement in my DS collection though.

These are US dollars, by the way.

Well the sale was officially going on this (past) weekend. We had these two...bin-things full of games.

My friend who just bought a DS looked for Advance Wars but no luck. We did find Tales of Phantasia though which he bought (last copy).

As for Radiata Stories. Very happy I bought it when I did because there were no copies when we checked today. There were a lot of copies of Wild Arms 4 though.

Some Circuit cities started it up yesterday. Grabbed me a copy of Indigo Prophecy, made myself happy.

Hmm, I may have to go pick up some of these. Bargain buys are always the best!
