What are you currently playing???

so, what are you playing right now?
give comments on the current game,
I just beat Suikoden 4, and i started Suikoden Tactics, which seems good.

NOTE: Posts that simply list games will be deleted without warning. You must provide some commentary.

Up to the third level/mission and so far it's been an enjoyable experience. The buildings and scenery crumbling from firefights is excellent but there really isn't much to Black compared to most FPS other than a great presentation and destructible environments.

This thread is a great excuse to use my camera photos of this amazing box art. It's Taiko no Tatsujin Wai Wai Happy Muyome, a rhythm game based on japanese drums in japan.

I'm also playing Viewtiful Joe, the original game, on my PS2 for the first time. It's also great. I can't wait to unlock Dante, apparently he's better than Joe himself.

Chaotic Mar 4, 2006 03:05 AM

I'm currently playing Dragon Quest VIII. I finally got the opportunity to play it and experience how the game actually is. So far i'm quite impressed with it, except some of their quests are a little cryptic to figure out.

chato Mar 4, 2006 07:57 AM

Neogeo Battle Coliseum
King of Fighters 2003
Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX

im currently playing Maverick Hunter X (Vile Story) over. As much as I wanted there to be different theme songs for Vile, listening to that same song isn't so bad. its actually addicting to listen to.

i played GTA:LCS far too much that it only takes less than a day to beat >.>;;.

Schadenfreude Mar 4, 2006 09:39 AM

I'm not playing much right now, but usually when I do turn on my PS2 it's usually to play some Gran Turismo 4. I could never see why some people hated it so much, but I can't see why some people are so slavishly "in love" with it.

I don't even race much, I usually only play time trials and just drive around the tracks, usually trying to beat my own lap-times, but to also see how (in)consistent I am. I usually put in at leastone lap of the Nurburgring everytime I play, sometimes more. I still am not very good at it, though.

Ken Hikari Mar 4, 2006 12:11 PM

Currently playing Dragon Quest VIII.

Why I waited a month to start playing this game is beyond me because the game is amazing. I really enjoy the music too.

Rydia Mar 4, 2006 01:51 PM

Moving to General Video Gaming since this can apply to any game.

Ryuu Mar 4, 2006 01:58 PM

I just started playing Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater again. My friend just bought it, which sparked my interest in playing it again.

I'm excited about my birthday at the end of the month - Kingdom Hearts II and Suikoden V come out around the same time.

Snowknight Mar 4, 2006 02:08 PM

I'm playing through Luigi's Mansion for the fourth time, because I've never gotten a rank "A" house after the end of the game. (One of the gold mice always seems to escape me ;_; )
After finishing that--which shouldn't take too much longer--I intend to start another Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door file, because I never have done everything in that game either.

Spatula Mar 4, 2006 02:21 PM

Today I wrote an accounting midterm and finished one hour early. What to do with this spare hour? Head over to Superstore and pick up a PS1 memory card, but lo and behold, such old technology is no longer sold at this store anymore (they had it back last summer, and I picked up a card then, but it's getting full). So instead, I happened to spot this game:

I really wasn't hesistant on buying it, but I was more so thinking in my mind how much did I like the third installment. My desires got the better of me, and the price seemed right, $25 CDN, so I got it. I haven't done any racing, but I've just looked around the menu and somehow uploaded an old save file from GT3 which gave me some bonus features. NICE! Well, I was more intending to continue on in Valkyrie Profile - Chapter 5. But today's a free day pretty much. So I'll be gaming much more now.

Kaijima Mar 4, 2006 02:22 PM

Call of Duty 2 / X360 - I'm replaying this some more to prepare for the multiplayer update that will get me back in to online play with the title.

Shadow of the Colossus / PS2 - I picked it up for Christmas and sure WANTED to play it non-stop but too much got in the way. Now I'm clear to take my time and enjoy it properly.

Kameo / X360 - Same situation as SotC

SFA3 Max / PSP - A great little port, and I never did get in to SFA3 much originally. For myself, it's almost like a new game.

Zip Mar 4, 2006 02:48 PM

Marc Eckos Getting up.
Dont care what you guys say, it's a awesome game. Sure it got a few problems but I've been aching for a graffiti game since Jet Set radio Future. And it got the best artistic look since.. i dunno years. Not to mention some of the cut-scenes. Wow they are so well made and im not talking about the looks, but the style and editing.

Not playing anything at the moment, but all the trailers floating around YouTube and stuff are making KH so much better than everyone thought it would be.

Frickin.

Borg1982 Mar 4, 2006 03:01 PM

Legend of Legaia. I could not believe this was a good game until I got it for free last month. I never tried it in my life until getting it for free. Love the combo moves and I find the storyline interesting.

S?ecter Mar 4, 2006 04:33 PM

Deus Ex, this game never goes bad, it's been around since 2000 and is a wonderful blend of shooter and RPG, played through it like 30 times, and it never gets old, because there are some many ways to play through it.

I'm also a member of the Planet Deus Ex forums, and I'm just a fanatic fan of this game!

TRZD Mar 4, 2006 05:11 PM

Been picking up some old games lately. Yesterday I finally got the Onimusha 2 I bought off eBay a few days ago. It seems to play just like the original, but so far seems a little easier yet more in-depth (actually has towns with lots of people to talk to, other people that fight with you, etc). I heard this one is just about as short as the original which I managed to complete in 4 days, but for the price I paid I'm certainly not complaining.

Musharraf Mar 4, 2006 05:18 PM

Two games, mainly:
1) Burnout: Revenge; boy, what a gem, I am so happy that I got it (you know, after the awesome Burnout Takedown, I was like "uhh could it even get any better?", and the answer is YES!). I think I've finished 40% so far but I guess I will need like 500 hours to complete all tracks with perfect rating =o

2) Ace Combat: Squadron Leader (or Unsung War, which doesn't really sound any better!); I like this game pretty much as well.

YoMan Mar 4, 2006 06:37 PM

Dragon Quest VIII

Pretty satisfied with it except for some minor flaws like:
- The framrate drops a little (noticable) when there are a large group of monsters simultaniously on the screen.
- There is this stupid 3-4 second camera paning around the party after every victorious battle. I absolutley hate it!
- The battle system is a little slow. Im more the SMT Nocturne kind of guy who likes the battles to go relatively fast.
- The buttons respond slowly sometimes.
- Maybe this is just me but sometimes the game loads a little to long.

Overall its a good game so far. The first 20 hours or so were pretty addictive.
Couldn't turn of the console :)

alkaline Mar 4, 2006 07:26 PM

Pop'n Music 12 -- Another year, another Pop'n Music CS release. I'm pretty out of practice so I have to get my wrists back in shape. . or something.

Initial D: Street Stage -- It's Initial D Ver.3, but on the PSP. Amazing stuff.

DJ Max Portable -- I believe I'm in PSP mode until my DS Lite replaces my DS Fatty. Very addictive game this one.

Rumble Roses XX -- Can't say much, but there you go.

SonicEchidna Mar 4, 2006 07:27 PM

WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2006

Completely hooked on this game at the moment, as I was when I bought the previous games in the Smackdown series. It hasn't had me tearing my hair out in frustration of a victory snatched away from me yet, though I must admit the Royal Rumble match came pretty damn close....

Kaiten Mar 4, 2006 07:36 PM

Right now I'm playing Devil May Cry 3: Special Editon. I'm crusing through as Vergil in normal. Before that I decided to be a pussy and boost my stats in easy :p

David Deluxe Mar 4, 2006 07:44 PM

After completing Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis and Day of the Tentacle, I began playing Sam & Max: Hit the Road. All in all it's a very good game until now. I was surprised, that the voice output of such an old game could be that nice. The humor of this game rocks as well, but sadly, I had to restart the whole game because of a stupid bug. Sam simply didn't want to combine two items and so I wasn't able to beat the game - nice. Now I have to do everything again. <_<

Dyne Mar 4, 2006 08:01 PM

The Rub Rabbits! - Fantastic game, very stylish, and nothing quite compares asking girls to make babies with you. Seriously, this game rocks.

Animal Crossing: Wild World - I knew since this game was announced that I'd be playing a little every day. I love it. I'm currently paying off my last expansion. I can't wait to see what it ends up as when I finish paying it all off. Maybe a nice huge statue in front of my mansion? We'll see.

Freelance Mar 4, 2006 08:27 PM

Currently playing:

DS: AC DS, Nintendogs
GBA: Harvest Moon More Friends of Mineral Town
GCN: LoZ: Wind Waker
PC: Battlefield 2, Silkroad Online

I'm having terrible luck with AC DS, have unlocked all dog breeds in Nintendogs, including the 2 secret ones, I love HM MFoMT, I am replaying LoZ: WW 'cause it's fun, and I'm obsessed with BF 2 and SRO.

Does anyone else play SRO?

Scumbag Harry Mar 4, 2006 09:19 PM

The game adaptation of The Warriors. A very fun brawler with lots of mission variety and stuff to unlock. I like how it expands the movie's backstory instead of simply recreating its events.

Bonus points for the radio in the hideout, wich plays tracks from the movie in their entirety.

Menzoberranzan Mar 5, 2006 12:10 AM

Need For Speed Most Wanted lol. Managed to break the top 3 but heck I tell you, grabbing bounty is the most annoying thing out there lol. Just one screw up on a turn and its bye bye.

fgamer Mar 5, 2006 12:38 AM

I'm currently playing:

Kingdom Hearts II the import version for the second time but in hard mode and trying to get all the stuff I couldn't get in my first play.

Dead or Alive 4: I stated playing today and love it so far.

Prinnydood Mar 5, 2006 12:41 AM

Well I just beat the first Kingdom Hearts for my third time. Right now I'm playing Guitar Hero and Shadow of the Colossus every so often.
On my way through expert in Guitar Hero but i can't seem to get those solos down so i need some practice...awesome game though. Same goes for Shadow..awesome experience.

Dinner Mar 5, 2006 01:54 AM

Right now I mostly play America's Army (and no, it's not a propaganda game :P). It's free, and i get to shoot things, that's why I'm playing it. I'll have to pick up Counter Strike some time, seems to be a big thing.

Rocca Mar 5, 2006 10:01 AM

Ibara: Fun little shmup by Cave. It intentionally plays more like a Raizing Battle Garegga esque shmup, making things harder, but I like it overall. Currently trying to breach the 7 million mark. I learned that bombing multiple things with smaller bombs racks up a much higher score than shooting Hadou bombs or Full Bomba's every once in a while. Damn you Cave. Damn you.

Tales of Legendia: Still truckin' through the Character Quests. Lotta fun just walking around doing nothing. I dig this game a lot.

Synthesis Mar 5, 2006 10:34 AM

Just picked up the original Final Fantasy Tactics for the PS1. I lost my original copy somehow, but I still have the memory cards so I didn't lose my place.

SouthJag Mar 5, 2006 10:38 AM

My signature has all of the games I'm playing, but I'm focused right now on Ys: Ark of Napishtim on the PSP and Grandia 3. I'm playing all those games too, just not as much as the two I listed.

Summonmaster Mar 5, 2006 07:59 PM

Disgaea: Hour of Darkness - After Hours of levelling up my mages' staff skills on Valgipus IV, I'm finally ready to plug away at Final-1 to beef up the rest of my party to end the main story.

Lumines - Just practicing as needed. Stuck at the Two Alligators Puzzle, and the stage after "I Can Feel The Music In My Soul" in Challenge Mode. Gah! Restart ALL the way from the beginning...

Power Instinct: Matrimelee - I love watching Kanji fart on the opponent, and Hikaru stylishly crescent slice and dice with her stick.

Rage of the Dragons - Even at Level 1, Johann is a bastard. Another psychic SNKBoss for the pile.

Overkill Mar 5, 2006 09:51 PM

I am currently playing Doukutsu Monogatari (Cave Story), which I must say is an amazing sidescroller game for something made by one person. I am on my second playthrough, this time playing the game without the Booster 0.8 (hard mode) in attempt to get the legendary weapon called the "Spur" and also get the redemption ending.

Final Fantasy IV Advance is another game I have recently been working at. It was on sale, and I wanted to beat the game one day because my FF2 cart for the SNES wouldn't let me (save battery issues). I was expecting "FFIV Hard". but this is actually way easier than the SNES version, especially the Demon Wall, Calbrena, and the Magus Sisters. Although, the difficulty did just spike recently. As soon as I visited the moon for the first time, I started getting my ass handed to me in almost every random encounter, whereas a dungeon before I was obliterating every foe. It's strange.

Shinka Mar 5, 2006 10:03 PM

Just recently returned to Star Ocean: Till The End of Time. It's a lot more enjoyable knowing you can turn off the lame voice acting and just read the text. I'm about 12 hours into it now. I also returned to Burnout Takedown and Dynasty Warriors 3 every now and then.

CapturedPenguin Mar 5, 2006 10:14 PM

I'm currently working on two games at the moment.

Super Demo World: The Legend Continues, which is a game patch/hack for Super Mario World that makes it an entire new game. It's fun, but I'm stuck at Castle 4. It's completely ridiculous.

I'm also working on Ultimate Spiderman. I'm at the last boss battle and I just can't seem to put the foe away quite yet. I feel like I'm playing a comic book though. It's very cool.

Spyer Mar 5, 2006 10:15 PM

http://fear.gram.pl/screeny/fear_dvd.jpg

Ho ho, quite the scary shit. This game certainly does have its moments, but what I like most about the game is the slow-motion and physics, especially when using the shotgun. Just seeing a guy get blown to bits in slow-mo is pretty fun, but I must say that it is one of the harder games I've ever played. Even on normal mode it put up a tough fight! Excellent game.

As for Xbox, I've been playing quite a bit of Fight Night round 3. Its a really good game, but can get really tough sometimes.

S?ecter Mar 5, 2006 11:07 PM

F.E.A.R. is a really good game, and is definitely creepy at parts. My new computer also runs it beautifully, so it's all good. :)) F.E.A.R. got a little repetitive in the Armacham building, I must say, which ended up being the majority of the game sadly. The ending was also predictable, I must say, and I saw many of the plot points coming before I got there.

[spoilers]

Alma climing up over the side of the chopper was highly predictable, and I kind of laughed at that.

[/spoilers]

So yeah, that's about it...

As for me, i'm taking a break from video games at the moment so i can focus on stuff like my writing, and my music.

As soon as March 28th rolls around however, i will be picking up Kingdom Hearts II (For those of you who didn't see, i just go up from my computer desk and began dancing on the walls.) yeah i'm really excited. but until then, happy writing Helloween.

Castle 4 = Worst stage in the game. The ceiling maze concept was cool until the part where YOU HAVE TO DIE TO CONTINUE.

Peter Mar 6, 2006 09:05 AM

Currently Suikoden Tactics on my PS2, just before you go to some laboratory, and Persona 1, which is an average game. I have a huge backlog, but the next games will more likely be Tales of Legendia, Romancing Saga Minstrel Song, Shadow Hearts 3 and one of the Lunar games.

Currently I'm playing Starcraft. Okay, this game may be from the jurassic age but in my opinion it is the best strategy game ever. I played it sice 1999 and I'm still enjoing it. I'm also worikng on a Starcraft Mod. ^^

agreed, although i must say, playing over BattleNet got really boring when there was no substance to anyone's strategy or playing anymore. I hate having to deal with an army of Carriers, Hydralisks, or Seige Tanks. I encountered three strategies when playing that game, and it just got stupid after a while. Although i do still love the singer player campaigns.

Well, i've been playing Tales of Eternia since half term, still am on and off. I'm also currently slowly making my way through The Chronicles of The Sword on SCIII and started Tekken 5 this afternoon. Nothing too taxing at the moment. Waiting for some decent games to come out

Lord Jaroh Mar 7, 2006 04:19 PM

 Guitar Hero baby! :guitarist:

There is nothing quite like wailing out a solo on even a fake guitar. And it's good enough that my buddy had to go out and get one, so the guitar wars are on. I'm into Expert, except for the last two songs on Hard (damn Cowboys from Hell and Bark at the Moon!)

That and Gauntlet Dark Legacy. I just bought the game for $10, and it was worth every penny, but then, I love the fun of any Gauntlet game, so this one is great.

Rangel Mar 7, 2006 04:24 PM

I just started and finished Indigo Prophecy for the PS2

It's an intresting game, to say the least, but really short. However, I may have also missed alot. It is true that everything you can do can affect the game. I'm playing over again, I've already done a few diffrent things to the story line.

Enjoyable game, Kinda reminds me of a really adavanced version of a choose your own adventure book.

Exit (PSP): Great puzzle game. There are some tricky puzzle I can't manage to finish, but that's the purpose of the game. SOLVE PUZZLE.

We <3 Katamari (PS2): Playing few minutes per day, for the roses level.. argh... pain in the ass to get 1 million!

... well that's it. I was going to buy Shadow Hearts From the New World, but the dumbass at EB said the game won't be "released" before tomorrow. RELEASED and GET IT IN STOCK is not the same. I'll try my luck tonight at another store.

Scumbag Harry Mar 7, 2006 05:29 PM

Shadow Hearts FTNW is released? Holy shit! I need to get my hands on this bad puppy right-fawcking-now!

Gr|M Mar 7, 2006 05:31 PM

My friends and I in the dorms here have been playing a ton of Smash bros melee and we occasionally get 8 or so guys all on the network playing call of duty 2. It's a grand ole time.

If the game's release date is 3/7, it won't be in stores until 3/8. It's deceptive, but the 7th would be the day the game ships to stores. We don't get it in stock until the next day. Now, if the game's ship date was yesterday and that store didn't get it today, there's a problem.

Dalkaen Mar 7, 2006 07:00 PM

I've been replaying Final Fantasy Tactics and Gladius, lately. This thread has made me nostalgic for Starcraft, however. I might have to reinstall it. :P

but it wasn't like that few years ago. 3/7 ? 3/7, there you go. Why don't they ship the game during the night, eve to the release date ? Now I have to wait til tomorrow to get my ass out of my house and visit the EB again.

SouthJag Mar 7, 2006 11:47 PM

I believe they are shipping through the night. But still, even if they ship at night, either a.) we wouldn't be there to receive it or b.) we wouldn't get it until the morning, and that would be the next day.

There's also this to consider -- companies like EA set street dates which force us to hold games and not sell them until a specific date, such as Black. We received Black 5 days ahead of schedule -- no joke. And all we could do was look at all those games in a box and wait for 2/28 to roll around so we could sell them without losing our jobs.

Dark Nation Mar 8, 2006 12:15 AM

I KNOW I posted already... but whatever.

I've started playing Deus Ex: Invisible Wars, and after a confusing intro (And I played the first game, so confusion should not be a problem!) the game's starting to get into the natrual flow of things.

The game had a lot of things better, and a lot of things worse at the same time, my opinion is that its just alright at this point.

Sarmoti Mar 8, 2006 12:31 AM

Still Harvest Moon:Friends of Mineral Town.

Probably the best installment of the series since the 64 version. I'm currently trying to get 100% before the release of Magical Melody.

Just for the fun of it, it could have been cool to see a copy of Black before its release... You lose your job but hey... YOU HAVE A GAME BEFORE ANYONE ELSE. ISN'T IT WONDERFUL ? I live in a dream....

err.... anyway I mean, if the game is released on 3/7, then why does it take a day to get it ? The trucks leaves US during the day and it takes a day to come to Canada ??... Why do DVDs get released the same day as expected ?

Synthesis Mar 8, 2006 04:45 AM

Found an old same game file of Harvest Moon 64, figured I'd see if I can still grow potatoes.

On that topic I've not got an answer for you. I only know that the release date is the ship date, and it takes one day for us to receive it. If, by chance, we receive the game early, we are only allowed to sell it if it hasn't been street-dated by the publisher. If it has, we have to hold on to it.

Syndrome Mar 8, 2006 11:07 AM

I'm currently playing Final Fantasy Tactics Advance for the GBA (It takes forever) and Super Mario Bros 3 for the same console (I have to beat this soon). Two great games on a great console.

Lady Miyomi Mar 8, 2006 06:25 PM

I just started on Legend of Zelda ~ Minish Cap the other day. I just gotta get used to playing with a keyboard.

I miss PSO.... :(

Domino Mar 8, 2006 07:22 PM

I'm currently working my way through SpellForce Gold Edition. Graphics could do with a bit of a polish, but otherwise no complaints so far.

Lukage Mar 8, 2006 07:26 PM

Frozen Throne on and off, Naruto Clash of Ninja here and there. Actual game progression is in Legend of Dragoon, I guess.

Samurai Jack Mar 8, 2006 09:26 PM

I've been playing Metriod Prime 2 lately. Once I get my video card issues worked out, I'll be back on Guild Wars, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Battlefield 2, and Doom 3. I'm debating on weither or not to buy Star Wars: Empire at War and Half-Life 2. My friends keep bugging me to pick up a copy of each.

xman25 Mar 9, 2006 01:46 AM

I'm playing 'Aeon Flux' (XBOX), 'Prince of Persia:The Two Thrones' (XBOX), 'Resident Evil 0' (Gamecube), and 'Metal Gear Solid:The Twin Snakes' (Gamecube). I just picked up 'Aeon Flux'. I'm half way through the second level. I'm liking the game a lot. One of the better movie based games. I'm going through 'POP:TTT' and 'MGS:TTS' both for the second time. I'm going through 'RE0' for the fourth time.

Now finally I have all 3 versions of Shadow of the Colossus!! NTSC/JAP, NTSC/USA and PAL/EUR. There are not big changes in them but they sure play a little different from each other. I still have some things to do in each of them to finish them on 100%. In USA version only 3 Colossi left in Hard Time Attack =).

Fire Fox Mar 9, 2006 05:32 AM

A few weeks ago, I was playing Yu Gi Oh GX Duel Academy, now the new 2006 is out but doesn't seem as fun. And not forgetting Maple Story, got addicted to it again. And tommorow there will be a Taiwanese MMORPG which was P2P, but now they have a version 2, so version 1 is free to play. Since I'm a cheapskate, I play "cheap" games, as in I just pay the electricity bills and the ISP.

ComCrimson Mar 9, 2006 01:14 PM

I started playing BLACK last night. Oh how i've missed the joys of playing an FPS. The last one i played properly was probably Half Life and that was years ago. I'm surprisingly good at BLACK considering it doesn't have auto aim and i'm rubbish without auto aim. My Dad's gutted because i got further than he did in one nigh and i didn't die once whereas he has dies countless times

Chaotic Mar 9, 2006 04:25 PM

I've oddly been getting back into Pokemon Emerald... Mostly for the Battle Frontier. Gives me another reason to train my Pokemon and battle against the odds of cheap ass trainers with attacks that just so happen to execute at the right time. (Them = Protect ; Me = Explosion ; Me = FUCKTHISSHIT.)

The Wise Vivi Mar 9, 2006 11:02 PM

Been playing lots of Winnig Eleven 8. Why? Because the game is sooooo good, and its the only way me and my roomate can compete to not have to do the dishes that were left piled in the sink for over a week....

Too bad I lose most of the time...:(

*AkirA* Mar 10, 2006 01:26 AM

The only game im playing now is Guild Wars. Its great to kill some time. I hope that on the 20th Ill be in a cave somewhere playing Oblivion, god willing.

Lady Miyomi Mar 10, 2006 01:30 AM

I started Suikoden and Xenogears. I'm going to see how long it takes me to play two games at once along with homework. :)

Radical Mar 12, 2006 11:06 PM

I'm playing FFIV hardtype right now. It's a really good game. You can tell that it's a little older than FFVI, but it's still a lot of fun to play, and the graphics are still quite nice. There have been some tough battles (specifically: the Demon Wall), and after about 19 hours of logged play, I think I'm nearing the end. I'm playing it on SNES9x since my PS2 is broken and I can't play the Playstation version that came with Final Fantasy Chronicles.

goldeneye2131 Mar 13, 2006 01:10 AM

I'm playing The Legend of Zelda (NES GBA Re-release)
As this is one of two zelda games I have yet to play, it took some adjusting to. I do not understand how the only way I can save the game is by dying, as dying seems to be very easy though. I had no idea where to start or what to do, and it got frustrating really quick. I seem to be stumbling across things and not exaclty going at everything in game order (didn't find level 2 until I had already beaten levels 3 and 4). I never thought it could be that hard, and it will at least hold me over for a short while as I still must wait even longer for the new game to come out. Overall, I'm impressed by the gameplay and probably still would have been immediately hooked had this been my first zelda game...

Azure727 Mar 13, 2006 01:16 AM

Finished playing Lumines on my PSP, now I'm playing through Disgaia, La Pucelle Tactics, and Phantom Brave. Then I will go to Front Mission 4 I think.

I need to start these tactics games or else I'll never finish.

Stealth Mar 13, 2006 01:16 AM

PSP: Metal Gear Ac!d - I need to beat this before MGA2 comes out. Damn my limited time!
PC: Started replaying FEAR, damn this game is great. Though I just took a break from Empire At War. You can bet your ass I'll play that again. Currently stuck in the Empire campaign, trying to control ALL the planets. Loads of fun.
PS2: I want to play Zone of Enders. Just got it, old game, but I heard it was great. I still have tons of PS2 games lined up to play: Xenosaga, Xenosaga II, Killzone. Oh, also, I'll be playing MGS3: Subsistence as soon as I get it. After that, Ace Combat Zero. Damn, I'm gonna have a nice summer.

Lady Miyomi Mar 14, 2006 10:30 PM

I've added on Castlevania~Symphony of the Night and Dracula X~Nocturne in the Moonlight. While I know it's the same game, I wanted to see how far I could get in Dracula X without being able to understand the names of the weapons and stuff. I'm also getting ready to start playing Suikoden as well.

CrimsonSerenade Mar 15, 2006 06:01 AM

Currently playing Tales of Legendia, Resident Evil 4, and Romance of the Three Kingdoms X. I'm about Chapter 7 in Tales of Legendia, so I'm almost finished with the main story (and then of course, there's the sidequests), and I'm only playing Resident Evil 4 to unlock the Handcannon, and finally completely finish the game. As for ROTK X, it's a Koei game, and I find their games to be quite addicting for a good amount of time.

NovaX Mar 15, 2006 06:22 AM

Ghouls 'n Ghosts for MegaDrive. I recently bought other games, but I can't stop playing this. It's really fun, I don't remember really liking the SNES version when I rented it, but I deeply love this game. It's also fairly difficult so it may take me a while to complete..

B4-Hunter Mar 15, 2006 06:39 AM

Shink Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams
2nd run on this one. First one took me 25 hours and now game is easy as a pie. Pure pleasure of slicing everything on your way with all weapons on MAX level. Game is awesome and I have to say that it is best part from Onimusha sage. Can't wait for Onimusha 5 =).

Inhert Mar 15, 2006 07:42 AM

well i'm in a phase where I don't really know what I want to play... so when i'm really bored, I play a little of City of Heroes (that I just recently re-activate my account, probably not for long) I might return to FFXI soon though(took a lil break from it)

but heh I juts cant wait for KH2 at the end of the month... it's always do that, when i want a game so bad and i know that the release is close, there no other game in my mind then this one XD

(I think i'll go buy MGS3: subsitence to past the time till the release XD)

SouthJag Mar 15, 2006 01:15 PM

I've been switching back and forth from Need for Speed: Most Wanted (which I checked out from work, but I'm thinking of returning it), Grandia 3, and soon enough Megaman Powered Up. I....need to go get that game.

By the way, has anyone played Drakengard 2? I was thinking about checking it out myself, but I'd like to hear some comments about it before I play it.

B4-Hunter Mar 15, 2006 04:55 PM

Grandia III
Is inside now. Shin Onimusha completed and back to the box. Well at first I was skeptic about G3 but more I play more I like it. Shame that in game graphic isn't awesome... *sob*

PacificKid Mar 15, 2006 08:05 PM

I'm playing RF Online right now; I got it as a birthday gift from my friends - it's an online game (and they're paying for it), it has an interesting playing style (think Diablo II), and it's kind of interesting to play. The leveling curve is kind of a joke though (2 hours to go up 10 levels).

I'm also going back to Super Metroid to see if I can hopefully beat the game under 3 hours.

Circle-K Mar 15, 2006 08:19 PM

I'm playing Vampire Savior/Darkstalkers 3, perfecting my skills so I can enter a tournament for it one of these days. Hopefully there will actually be more tourneys for this awesome game. It's basically a Capcom fighting game with vampires and monsters.

I'm also playing Final Fight 3, trying to beat it in one credit. I almost succeeded last time, but Black was just too good for me.

Luckee Cookie Mar 15, 2006 08:28 PM

just bought Omnimusha Tatics GBA a few days back and I'm starting to hack away at it :D it's been fun!

Gakineko Mar 16, 2006 01:46 AM

I've been playing:
Pokemon (red): farming TMs and vitamins with the "defeat M' " glitch (to be used in combination with....)

Pokemon Stadium 2: I need to build a team from scratch with pokemon i catch in Pokemon (red) since (Silver) had a data corruption fit. i'm nearing the end of R1, yay.

Pokemon (Ruby): i dont know what it is... i just can't get enough of pokemon lately. currently raking in items with my squadron of Linoone.

Snowboard Kids (n64): I picked this game up recently, and thought it was a pretty good multiplayer game. the battles to get onto the ski-lift are quite riviting.

Culdcept (PS2): this smells an awful lot like "Naruto:shinobinosatonojintorigassen", which is a monopoly style board game. Culdcept revolves around using the points accumulated while maneuvering the board to play cards from a hand (limit 6) which involve creatures (claim land), spells (effect), and items (for use in battles). quite an interesting game.

Guitar Hero: my friend lent it to me. i noticed it was quite similar to frequency, then i noticed that harmonix worked on it. not being a dedicated fan to rock music, i find it to be a decently amusing title.

that said, i've covered most of my bases.

Quote Mar 25, 2006 10:02 AM

DS: Animal Crossing(rarely), Trying to beat the last level in Trauma Center.
PC: Oblivion
PS2: Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence, Final Fantasy XII, and Guitar Hero. :D

Guitar Hero is so worth the money, anyone who hasn't gotten it obviously should. Final Fantasy XII is also shaping up to be one of the best Final Fantasy's for a good long while. Metal Gear Solid 3 is also good, as soon as you figure out how to cut necks.

Oblivion I'm not actually playing YET. I will be playing it later today though when I get it after work. Trauma Center I've been playing forever.... The last few things are hard, and I don't even know if they are the last things because I don't know anyone who's gotten this far.

Winter Storm Mar 25, 2006 10:08 AM

It's going to be Oblivion for a bit, I'll start it up today after I do some reading. Going to be a busy gaming year for me with ToL, SH:FTNW, and Grandia I waiting in line.

SouthJag Mar 25, 2006 12:54 PM

Woot, another owner of Grandia 1. That's always nice to know.

I've still got Grandia 3 in my PS2, but having just finished Kingdom of Paradise for the PSP, now I've moved on to trying to complete Megaman Powered Up! and Daxter.

Gee-chan Mar 26, 2006 05:09 AM

Right now I'm kinda stuck on games. On the gamecube I have Eternal Darkness and on the PS2 I have..... well, I forgot what I was playing on the PS2! I think I finished Devil May Cry 3 already. So I guess right now I'm just playing Eternal Darkness.

It's not as scary as I thought it'd be, though I do have to admit, when you're going insane and start hearing shit, it can be pretty freaky. Randomly exploding after trying to do a spell or being dismembered piece by piece is just rather creepy.

Freelance Mar 26, 2006 04:52 PM

I already have the list in my sig, but here's a breakdown of what I'm doing in all of them:

Harvest Moon: MFoMT: Whoever thought running a farm would be so fun? I have a goal in mind here, to be married for 50 years so I can get that cottage. I'm currently on year 3 Winter, so I have a looong way to go, haha.

Battlefield 2: Unfortunately, I'm taking a break from this game right now, because since I've got it, I've been neglecting all of my other games, and that just isn't right.

Sims 2: I just got Open for Business recently, so I'm having fun starting home businesses and the like. It's much better than the first game, and going downtown is the best!

Silkroad Online: A freebie Korean MMORPG which is pretty fun, but I haven't played it much lately. I have two characters in the Babel server, Natalis and Israi.

Tetris DS: I once became bored of Tetris, but since getting this game, I've been hooked back in. Push mode ROCKS. Playing online is the best.

Mario & Luigi: PiT: I totally forgot I had this game (it's my sister's game), so I've just started playing it. It's not as funny as the first game, and the controls are more complicated with the addition of the Mario Bros babies, but it's still pretty good so far.

Heisho-Ryuu Mar 26, 2006 06:58 PM

Star Fox 64 (no emus)
I had a hard time trying to get this game and now i feel the most happy

The only thing i can say is that this game it's a powerful reason to buy a N64, the game is fun, hard, and interesting. The replay value is above the scale due the fact that you always want to break your own records (or somebody else's)
An awesome game.

Elixir Mar 27, 2006 08:24 PM

Currently ESP Galuda and ICO, both of which are legendary games and should be handed out at birth.

ICO is, well, if you have a PS2, and you're posting on gamingforce, chances are you have some slight clue of what ICO is. ESP Galuda on the other hand, probably not; it's a Cave shooting game that consists of 5 levels. I think the replay value on both of these games vary, as ICO you wouldn't play through again immediately, as Galuda you'll be replaying quite often.

Dark Nation Mar 28, 2006 12:27 AM

Right now, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Yeah I tried out Morrowind, but it didn't really draw me in. This game however has, and I'm loving it.

In lieu of that, I'm also dabbling with Galatic Civilizations II, and Grandia II (PC). The latter I've beaten already, but its fun to play it again :)

magewarrior Mar 29, 2006 07:35 AM

Currently Playing CastleVania SoTN (for the PSOne)

Description : So far, so good, Im starting to get the storyline a bit, its also refreshing that for a PSOne game, it stayed with its 2d graphics, with just a hint of 3d here and there. A great platformer imo, fresh graphics, lotsa colours, unique creatures and so forth. What could be better than playing a vampire slayer, is what I say.

Syndrome Mar 29, 2006 11:17 AM

Better late than never, I got my hands on God of War today. I was very skeptical to it at first, since I dislike most "third-person-view-slash-and-spin" games, but GoW is extremely well written. I get amazed by the effects and action everytime I boot my PS2 with it. Simply a great game so far.

Josiah Mar 29, 2006 02:02 PM

NES (emu): Zelda II - The Adventure of Link

My roommate has been playing this of late on his GBA, and I figured I had seen it once or twice but never actually played it myself, so as of a few days ago I've decided to give it a shot. Quite a challenge as of yet, some of those baddies can be really ornery.

PC: Diablo 2

Because I am temporarily without a decent gaming video card, I've been peeking around for stuff to play that'd still work alright with my onboard video card, and this seemed to fit the bill. I've been sucked into it once again. :p

GC: Phantasy Star Online, Ep. 1 & 2

I've given this game a break of late, but I had the original PSO on the Dreamcast and was intrigued at the prospect of Episode II. Episode III seems more like its own thing and kind of different from the previous ones, and I dunno about Blue Burst; haven't read up enough on it. Perhaps playing through this might encourage me to get Phantasy Star Universe when it comes out here.

Super Smash Brothers Melee

I still catch myself playing this occasionally. Mostly it's for a little competition with those crazy players on the Smash Forums. I still get beat by them most of the time, but I think my Ganondorf still puts up a pretty good fight.

ReWOLF Mar 29, 2006 06:17 PM

Heya!

Currently replaying Fallout Tactics, in my oppinion the greatest fallout game ever to be released. Anyone even remotly interested in games such as Commandos should definatly check out Fallout Tactics.

Abit violent, but fun non the less=)

Summonmaster Mar 29, 2006 07:34 PM

Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories - I just got it recently not for the game itself if you catch my drift ;) Although I had forgot the sadistic pleasure in rampaging around town with a car that can wreck whatever it wants. I had never wanted this game for its gameplay at all, but its actually pretty fun, despite my shitty reversing skills.

Meth Mar 30, 2006 03:35 AM

Legend of Zelda Wind Waker. I started it forever ago, and now I've finally gotten around to playing it all the way through.

Started up Kingdom Hearts 2 today after waiting only several years for it to come out. It better not disappoint, although I have no idea how it could.

Helloween Mar 30, 2006 05:40 PM

^ green with envy.

I've been waiting so long for Kingdom Hearts, but i'm not gonna be able to pick it up till after summer. Don't ask why, it's a long story.

I've supplimented my lust for new excitment by playing a burned copy of Rise of Nations from a friend. I'm enjoying it, but i'm kind of mad the conquer the world campaign doesn't seem to work on my computer.

elwe Apr 1, 2006 06:32 PM

I'm currently playing Kingdom Hearts 1! I never really finished it, and since the second one already came out, I decided that it'd be a brilliant idea to finish that up. I love the game, but I can't actually sit down and play it too long. The game makes me nauseous for some reason. :edgartpg:

Blackbord Apr 2, 2006 01:33 AM

Kingdom Hearts II for Playstation 2. I'm very impressed with the new drives they added. And I also like the Proud Difficulty.

DeadHorse++ Apr 2, 2006 01:53 AM

Currently I'm playing MGS3. Never got around to beating it before, and I'm maybe a few hours away from doing so now.

Next I'll probably go back to playing the .hack games again. As in, I took a break in pt. 2 and haven't gone back for my first run though yet since :/

DRAKO Apr 2, 2006 09:14 AM

i put the save of onimusha 4 in the same memory stick than castlevania:curse , i dunno, for being games alike and i can´t forgive the hands´movement of soki when he talks with other people in his "HQ"...it is just like in ps2´s arc the lad...roll

Ryuu Apr 2, 2006 11:17 AM

I'm currently playing Kingdom Hearts II like a lot of other people. It's fun, I'm happy with it. The drives is probably the best part, as are the reaction commands.

Elixir Apr 2, 2006 06:53 PM

ICO, Bomberman DS, Sonic Rush, Yoshi's Island, Super Mario Bros 3.

One of these years I'll complete Super Mario Bros 3. People are like "suuuuuure, whatever, it's easy" but that's like saying Bubble Bobble is easy. My ass.

Mucknuggle Apr 2, 2006 07:05 PM

I'm currently playing three games: Grandia III (just a little bit left), ESIV: Oblivion and God of War.

I just bought God of War yesterday and started a game - then my bro accidentally saved over my file. So it looks like I'll be continuing the game in Hard mode. I've watched him play through most of it though, so I know about all of the awesomeness that is God of War.

My Grandia III game is almost done, I plan on finishing it first thing after my finals are over. It's not really the kind of game I want to just play for an hour - but God of War and Oblivion are, so they'll be getting most of my play time.

Finally, Oblivion. This game is just a vortex for my free time. I love playing it just enough to get a couple of quests done. It's pretty awesome. I've got tons of mods going for it.

Are you serious.

I just finished playing that game yesterday (no warps) with like 40 lives remaining.

Yeah, so I've been playing all Mario Games lately because I am HYPED STOKED about the New Super Mario Bros. SMB2 USA is one of the most underrated games of all time.

Elixir Apr 2, 2006 08:01 PM

Well I've never touched the game in my life and I'm playing the GBA catridge on my DS, with these:

FAT FINGERS.

It doesn't help when the DS' buttons are tiny as.

ROBOTRON Apr 2, 2006 08:21 PM

I'm currently playing Samurai Shodown Tenka for import PS2. Great fighting game...at least untill Guilty Gear Slash comes out in a few weeks.

So far, my fav character in SST is "Andrew"...which I believe is supposed to be president Andrew Jackson...he gots some great moves...but hes just a basic character, not much in the combo area.

Here is a pic of him:

I'm playing FF7 right now. I'm at the beginning of Disc 2, and I like it so far, especially the materia system. I don't think it's overrated like some say it is, but I also don't think it's the best game ever like some say it is.

Jesus! I rented it to see if I might buy it; 35 hours of game in 6 days!! And I didn't even start the main quest! I know it's awesome, but I've returned it and I'm probably not gonna buy it yet....I've been missing a week of gym and night classes for this addicting game. Too much for me. :edgartpg:

randomwab Apr 3, 2006 08:27 AM

I finally bought a DS on Friday so i'm playing through Phoenix Wright and Resident Evil DS on that. Phoenix has been a treat, i'm really enjoying it, and Resident Evil just brings back memories but it's still a damn good game. I also started to play through Zettai Zetsumei Toshi 2 - Frozen Memories, AKA SOS 2 AKA Disaster Report 2. Much like the original with updated gameplay and such, really good so far.

Lady Miyomi Apr 3, 2006 09:41 PM

I'm currently in the process of replaying Castlevania~Symphony of the Night. I'm just about finished with the first castle, but there's still areas I want to reach so I can finish with the 200%.

Single Elbow Apr 4, 2006 03:15 PM

Still Shin Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams. For the second time already.

I like how they managed to pull something unexpected but hey, I'm in the process of getting all the weapons, upgrading armor and turning all 5 characters into 99s.

Syndrome Jun 3, 2006 09:56 AM

I just got Final Fantasy 4 Advance today, so that's pretty much what I'm playing on my GBA SP. Awesome game!

Since I never finished the original, I bet this was a great purchase.

Domino Jun 3, 2006 10:18 AM

Freelancer (PC) - I picked this up last week. I'd thought i'd give it a go after all the good things that i'd heard about it. Not been disappointed so far.

Civilization III (PC) - I haven't played on this in a while and decided it was about time to give it another go. I'm playing as the Greeks and up to 2005AD at the moment.

KCJ506 Jun 3, 2006 10:28 AM

Started playing Kingdom Hearts 2 about a week ago. I love it! Right now I'm at the part where you have to revisit all the worlds.

Helloween Jun 3, 2006 10:30 AM

Currently playing Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask. I'm feeding my Zelda addiction with the old stuff before i get the good stuff. If i keep going at this pace, i should have Ocarina of Time and Windwaker done by the time Twighlight Princess comes out.

Summonmaster Jun 3, 2006 11:14 AM

Back to playing Chrono Trigger.
It's a lot more fun when the bosses are easier this time since I had nothing to do but overlevel. Luminaire + Gold Stud is making the rest of the game way too easy...well at least until that part.

Lady Miyomi Jun 3, 2006 10:53 PM

I'm currently replaying Suikoden and Breath of Fire IV concurrently. I even started on Star Ocean 2 again. Hopefully I'll be able to get better endings this time around.

elwe Jun 3, 2006 11:32 PM

I'm currently playing Arcanum again, as well as The Nations.

I think I've ranted enough about Arcanum, so I'll keep this one short. This time through, I'm using a human character, rather than the usual elf or half-elf, but I'm still planning on making her a magical character. I'm not too enthusiastic about the technology side. ;) As of now, I'm still in Shrouded Hills, but after defeating Lukan the Witless at the bridge, I'll be headed towards Tarant!

In The Nations, I'm currently using the Amazons in a Time Game, although I bet I'll never reach the end. It's laden with bugs, so by the time I get to that one pie/pastry invention, all the materials are being sent to the wrong buildings.

Elixir Jun 4, 2006 02:41 AM

I'm switching between Shadow of the Colossus, Disgaea and Dodonpachi Daioujou. For some reason, I can't seem to stick with one and play it hours on end.

I think Disgaea needs to be put down now. 63 or so hours and my Laharl is level 1040. I already have a level 400 Statistician in his weapon, a level 1800+ Gladiator in there, too. My plan was to get the strongest gear possible (Super Robo Suit, Yoshitsuna) and create my own overpowered team, but it's too time consuming.

NES Oldskooler Jun 4, 2006 10:29 AM

I just got Tomb Raider Legend for the PC.

My first thoughts on it were that it was a blatant rip-off of Prince of Persia, but I've actually grown to like it quite a bit. They have more environmental puzzles, and even block puzzles! (Which I love.)

My main complaint with it is that the combat system is bloody awful. It literally boils down to holding down the fire button and strafing left and right without thinking.

Overall, it's actually a good game. Fun puzzles, decent boss fights, and a surprisingly nice soundtrack.

solid_snake Jun 4, 2006 12:16 PM

im playing shadow of rome and it is my second time around.
its a bloody awesome and when i say bloody, i mean it. its got tons of gore and hellish violence and thats what i love a lot about this game.

Malmer Jun 5, 2006 06:34 AM

Conker's bad fur day (N64) and The Legend of Zelda:The Minish Cap.
They both win at everything!

I had them both laying around "anyway" in case I didn't have anything to play, mostly because it's games people say you have to have played... so I figured oh well I've got nothing else, and now I'm in a state of OMG!

I love that feel of "this is real quality" in a game...

scotty Jun 5, 2006 06:58 AM

- Metal Slug 1,2,X,3,4,5, UN Squadron, Salamander 2 on my MAME rom
some of the best arcade shooters made!
- New Super Mario Bros
great game though a tad short, I'm glad it has some difficulty level
(it will entertain me during the 3 hour car drive on my way to be injected with blue dye)
I also brought out my N64 again and switched between F-Zero X, Zelda OOT, and MM, Banjo Tooie, Perfect Dark, and Golden Eye

Spatula Jun 5, 2006 10:02 AM

At this moment I have Mercenaries (PS2) in my console. I'm about almost half way through the game, judging from how many "deck of cards" officers that I've killed/captured. This is a fun game, but pretty hard, even with some cheats on. Basically I'm using the money cheat ($1 million cheat several times, as well as the cheat weapons drop).

electric_eye Jun 5, 2006 11:22 AM

I'm just about to go on holiday so I started playing Gran Turismo 3 for the first time. Managed to get the domestic B license and bought a Toyota Yaris. The first few tests were almost identical to those in the first GT. Some nice tunes here but cannot vary levels of sound effects and background music I think. What the hell? Dubious AI.

aesop Jun 5, 2006 12:25 PM

Right now I'm working my way through Psychonauts on the Xbox.

First couple hours have been pretty decent, though a little easy and straight forward. The area I'm in at the moment is pretty fucking crazy anyway - as I'm searching for the Milkman.

Gakineko Jun 6, 2006 02:37 AM

I'm playing

Pocket Muu Muu (PSX)-JP
a game derived from the jumping flash world. basically its a game that has a collection of pocketstation minigames that you play to get money to buy more minigames/ pocketstation applications. it's got an on-board pocketstation emulator (fortunately) but i can see the value in uploading the games to a pocketstation to play them anywhere. what keeps me playing is the star ranking system. when you play a game, there are 3 stars to get, usually pertaining to different in game goals to be met such as: get a score of X, get to X stage without dying, get a perfect score, etc. so it takes a while to find out what it is that needs to be done to get those last stars.
=not that anyone plays this game, but i'm currently standing at 123 stars as a pocket hero

Bust a Move 2:Dance Tengoku Mix (PSX)-JP
i discovered that this game didn't make it out to the US unscathed. this version of Bust a groove 2 has some ending cinemas that explain some of the omitted background of characters. The changes in this game made it different enough from the first for it to be worth playing. they carried most of the characters over from the old one (only 4 got axed?). it's pretty decent fun. i wasn't particularly fond of the new tunes, but they werent bad at all.
=just finished beating the game with capoeira (my 10th pass?)

beatmania (PS2)
whee... i finally have a controller to play beatmania on. i'm surprised how much of a difference it makes to play this game on the official 7key controller as opposed to the normal controler. i've hit a skill-block and should probably practice before heading into hyper cause i can't FC anything in 7key greater than 4*.
=currently finished passing 7key on normal difficulty. i also managed to finally pass Mobo*Moga on another with an A.

LUCKYSTRIKE Jun 6, 2006 10:10 AM

GTA SA for PS2. Annoying me becuase I cant beat this mission where you have to steal this tanker =\

Spatula Jun 6, 2006 10:17 AM

Are you playing the Catalina missions or something like that? Just right when you enter the truck, get out and whip out a machine gun and destroy the car. Then you can have your merry way.

nazpyro Jun 6, 2006 04:45 PM

I just completed everything in New Super Mario Bros.

Brain Age looks like it may be something I'll be able to do everyday up to some point where I just get sick of it. I'll probably just do all the Sudoku puzzles then stop.

But as for other games, I'm working on Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time now. The first one was mad fun, and I heard this one is too.

Spatula Jun 17, 2006 12:00 AM

I've just finished the 2nd disc of Final Fantasy IX. It's certainly heating things up at the end where Kuja (what the hell is wrong with his/her face, seriously. KEFKA WANNABE) toasts the elephant-lady, ie Queen Brahme or whatever her fat majestic lips name is. I didn't find myself compelled by any aspect of the game at first, but I think it's growing on me. Honestly I'm just playing this just to claim another FF title under my belt and keep me occupied till perhaps either Dirge of Cerberus or XII comes out. Of course FFIX will be most likely beaten by then, but it's a stepping stone.

so how is the game? I was thinking about getting it not long ago but decided against it at the last minute

I'm scared helpless and broken, currently playing Silent Hill 2, 3 and 4. I dunno, number 2 is my favorite, but 4 scares the living shit out of me :(

Freelance Jun 17, 2006 01:45 PM

OMG, I got Sid Meier's Pirates (PC) on Thursday and I've played it for 14 hours already. I should stop buying open ended games, or else good bye, social life!! This game is SO MUCH FUN!

sabbey Jun 17, 2006 01:52 PM

What am I currently playing? Well, I started to play Ninja Gaiden again after taking a year off because my sucking at it. Pretty cool game actually! While the first time I only got to the second chapter's boss, I am already on Chapter 11 this time around. Guess people were right, you need to learn to block in this game... ;)

Other recently played games, God of War and Darkwatch. Just bought them and played about an hour of each to sample the games a little. Will go back and play some more once I finish NG. Hopefully... :D

ieatjackets Jun 25, 2006 04:21 AM

I'm currently playing 007: From Russia with Love on XBOX. It's a really sweet game from what I can tell but I've certainly been frustrated a few times already. Like one time my game just froze and I had to restart from the last checkpoint. Speaking of checkpoints, there never seems to be enough...or maybe that's just because they don't inform you when they save (so weird...)

For all of us Sean Connery fans, this game is really a treat, especially considering all the behind-the-scenes movies and whatnot.

Next, I plan to tackle Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy) which I've had sitting around for a while.

SouthJag Jun 25, 2006 10:58 AM

I've owned it since January 13th, 2006, but I'm just now playing Wild Arms 4. It's a really enjoyable game and this game could teach Link a lesson -- the ability to jump is not restricted to platformers and FPSs.

THIEF Jun 25, 2006 12:09 PM

Currently I am playing Xenosaga II for the first time. I know, I was slow to get around to this.

I am also replaying Metal Gear Solid for PS for my friend.
And I am also replaying Shadow of the Collosus just for the hell of it.
Oh yeah, I'm also in the middle of Hunter: The Reckoning with my friends. Its a multiplayer type arcade gamecube game.

Kinda balancing a lot of games at once but it isnt too bad...

randomwab Jun 25, 2006 01:08 PM

LocoRoco, I didn't know I had money in my bank account so once I saw I did it was withdrew and the game was mine!

I'm also going to start Shenmue 2 soon as I just finished Shenmue 1 and have always stopped playing the 2nd after day 1, it always gets boring.

elevator Jun 25, 2006 01:20 PM

On the PC, I´m playing Infamous Adventure´s remake of King´s Quest III, which I really enjoy although I suck pretty hard at these types of adventure games. For those of you interested, it is available for free at http://www.infamous-adventures.com/ - Highly recommended!

I also started a new round of Resident Evil 4 on pro mode - not gotten any tired of this game yet. It´s good.

speculative Jun 25, 2006 02:13 PM

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. It was $19.99 finally at the stores around here, so I picked it up. Seems interesting for an RPG, just fun stuff. So far it's got a lot of character, so I'll probably keep at it. It's actually interesting to play in that I don't feel the need to be 1337 and find all the secrets, etc. so it's just a fun time...

Dr. Uzuki Jun 25, 2006 02:45 PM

I've been playing Wild Arms 4. I'm about 15 hours in. In some ways, it's a refreshingly different rpg. It's has a streamlined feel to it, it's easy to keep playing. The battles are fashioned so that each encounter matters without the process being a grind and there's a fair amount of customization to play around with towards your characters. While the controls for the platforming elements are at times frustratingly imprecise (with no camera control on top of that), it still ends up being a fun addition. And the soundtrack is just as strong as any of them with some very memorable stuff.

Oh, and the radar to find shit on the world map is thankfully no more. No world map to speak of at all, actually, which is just fine by me.

The story segments have definitely taken a turn for the anime-ish, much more than any entry in the series so far. It's not a style I prefer, but it won't put me off to the point of not playing. And while any random battle could be dangerous, none of them really are because there is a continue option when you lose that carries no penlites. However, the biggest rub for me is that the puzzles are no way near as numerous or to the same level as any of the previous three.

I'd say that anyone looking for a lighter rpg and who isn't outraged by the drastic changes made to the series would enjoy it.

Golfdish from Hell Jun 25, 2006 07:45 PM

On that note: Anyone who has actually found a copy of Wild Arms 4 might want to hold onto it. I haven't seen it at any Gamestop I've been to for a good 2-3 months, new or used...I figured I'd pick it up eventually, but I didn't think it would dry up so fast (it only came out in January!) Could be the next Suikoden 2/Valkyrie Profile...

I finally finished Suikoden V for the second time...114 total hours later, good ending and all. So that means it's time to finally see if Suikoden IV was better or worse than its' made out to be...Thus far, I see I was wise to jump straight to V. Not very interesting characters, extremely boring fights (four man parties...in a SUIKODEN game!) and a bad plot twist that set up the next 2 hours or so of pure tedium. I'll play it to see if it gets better and because I want to see how it tied into V, but I don't think I'm going to worry much about collecting all 108 Stars of Destiny in this one unless it gets a LOT better.

That's might just be in your area, as I have seen copies at my local Gamestops, and I saw at least six copies when I went to Circuit City today. If this is really happening in most places though, I better go back to CC and stock up on those copies (whil they're still $9).

Dr. Uzuki Jun 25, 2006 08:25 PM

Yeah, I've seen WA4 here and there, not too often, but the real hunt is for Alter Code F which went from new to 45 used to not anywhere at all.

Every time I drop into the local game shop, the PS2 section shrinks, slowly but surely. There are quite a few games that aren't a high priority for me and don't have time to play at the moment but I might just feel compelled to grab them when I can find them.

Ryuu Jun 25, 2006 08:44 PM

I'm currently playing Dragon Quest VIII. Some 19 hours in at level 22. It's fun, very happy I bought it (even though I've been planning on getting it since Christmas but only recently bought it about a week ago).

I just bought Radiata Stories through the Circuit City Clearance so I'm probably going to play a few hours of that pretty soon.

Golfdish from Hell Jun 25, 2006 08:49 PM

I thought I saw Code F drop to $29 new. It's disappeared too, but WA4 had been gone before that (by only a month or so). I haven't seen either one show up used yet. I ended up picking up Suikoden IV a couple weeks ago just incase I hit a scenario where I wanted to play it and wouldn't have been able to find a copy (and it took 5 Gamestops before I actually snagged one...it's definitely gotten more rare over the past 5-6 months). I had actually planned on playing WA4 instead, but I can't find it locally and I already had Suiko IV so...Heh, decision made.

Rockgamer: You might be wise to do so. The publisher, XSeed Games, seems to be providing very low stocks of games. I didn't see Shadow Hearts For the New World either the other day and it's very recent. Don't think it will be as hard to find yet, but it doesn't seem like they're in any hurry to replenish sold supplies.

SuperSonic Jun 25, 2006 08:51 PM

Tying up some loose ends in Kingdom Hearts 2...namely the last tournament you can enter when you're at level 99. I'm also working on Dragon Quest VIII...but the boss I'm at right now is so cheap...and it's harder to level up now. Hero is at Level 28, and I've spent over 34 hours on it...so props to you Ryuu. I'm going to be at it for a while.

Oo. Wild Arms 4 is rare? Yeah Circuit City definitely had like 7 or 8 copies (at the Clearance $9). Maybe I should pick up a copy.

SouthJag Jun 25, 2006 09:30 PM

It's definitely worth it, although unless you're a nostalgia fan and have crazy love for Wild Arms 1, WA: Alter Code F....really isn't worth it. Especially not after playing Wild Arms 4. I'm holding on to my copy anyway, but if you haven't purchased it, wait until it drops to $10 or something -- can't be that far off considering WA4 is already $19.

guyinrubbersuit Jun 25, 2006 09:58 PM

I'm playing Indigo Prophecy right now. It's pretty damn entertaining and I'm digging the narrative. It has a X-Files vibe to it. However there are some quirks that take me out of the experience. First are the camer angles and controls. Good god I hate Resident Evil style controls and cameras. Sometimes it works, but it becomes very bothersome when the camera switches several times in one small area. Cinematic my ass.

Another gripe I have is that if I have one thing in my hand, my options to do something else becomes limited. I have two hands! Why can't I do two things at once?

And there are still annoying fetch quests in here. I really wish that gaming cliche would die. I hate it.

From what I've played it's an entertaining game with a strong story and decent characters. If it didn't have these elements then the game would be very terrible.

Kaiten Jun 25, 2006 10:15 PM

I decided out of the blue to play Final Fantasy IX. From what I've experienced so far it's very good, but not great (mainly because it's not too original). Essentially what I think of it so far is while it has some of the best PSX RPG graphics, it's battle system leaves much to be desired (frankly Chrono Cross's battle system was better and much more original).

Inhert Jun 25, 2006 10:59 PM

playing tales of eternia on my psp, import it for a good price

but I'm after the boss volt and the game freeze >.< it's seem that's a pretty comon bug, but is pretty random too (some have it, some don't, even with same firmware and all)

I feel nostalgic about game these days XD so i'm replaying FFVIII and IX, will probably do legend of Dragoon after those two

SonicPanda Jun 26, 2006 12:11 AM

Well, lately I've been hammering the DS pretty hard: New Mario, Phoenix Wright, Peach, and the GBA 2-pack of CV: HoD and AoS (as, uh, I never actually completed either of them). In addition to that, I'm wrapping up both the first Ratchet & Clank and Jak & Daxter, as I got a hell of a deal on the remainder of each trilogy (not counting the newer, different stuff). Also, Paper Mario 2, time trials on Ape Escape 3, Metroid Prime, unlocking on MMX Collection, MMX Command Mission, Hard Mode on DMC3:SE and MGS3:SE, and Adults Mode on Viewtiful Joe 2 (and now that I think about it, I should get back to Dragon Quarter). When all that's done, I haven't even touched DQ8, FF Crystal Chronicles, Phantom Brave, Prime 2, or the aformentioned Jaks and Ratchets.

So...yeah. Busy summer ahead.

BucPride Jun 26, 2006 02:10 AM

Right now, I just finished Super Metroid, and Crystalis should be coming in the mail tomorrow from eBay. Seems like I'm going through a retro phase. I'm constantly playing NFL Head Coach now since it came out last Wednesday. Its a good game, but has plenty of problems in terms of AI. All in all, its a good start to the franchise but has a long way to go. Speaking of going SNES/NES, I'm planning to start over on FF6 and Castlevania SOTN pretty soon. But, with a job and crap to do around the house, it might be later than sooner when it comes to those two, especially when I'm devoting alot of my time to Head Coach and soon to be Crystalis.

scotty Jun 26, 2006 02:21 AM

I have bought my first sony game consol (PS2) and have been playing Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition, and God of War almost non stop for two days now. I also kinda played a bit of Legend of Dragoon, and Twisted Metal 4 for the PS1.
I fricken love Devil May Cry, and I really enjoyed some of the story/ cut scenes especially the mission 1 opening. God of War is also very fun, and is in the same genre as DMC. I love how the only way to beat bosses is to hack them up then press the right buttons in sequence. Legend of Dragoon is okay, but I won't be able to play it until the first two games are done, Twisted Metal 4 is fun, and I used to spend hours playing this at my friends house blasting him up with Calypso a firetruck with a nuke launcher.

ieatjackets Jun 26, 2006 10:37 PM

Just finished 007: From Russia With Love. Overall, a very entertaining game with some really fun moments, but it is rather forgettable. It's just one of those games that doesn't offer enough challenge to give it lasting appeal, which is a shame. I would love to have more content in this game. There are some unlockable bonus levels but I've unlocked 2 of 4 and I wasn't impressed, so I'm not even going to bother. I feel like this is a game I could pick up occasionally and give a spin. It's really solid overall, but far from spectacular.

I'm also playing Indigo Prophecy (well, Fahrenheit) and I have to agree with your criticisms.

The controls are what frustrate me the most. At times it seems virtually impossible to navigate the character into a 'hotspot' in order to progress. The camera also is fairly annoying, but not as much as the controls.

I really like the 'open-ended' nature of the game and how doing different things could net different results when you switch characters, although I often wonder what would happen if I did something differently which kind of distracts me from the experience.

Also, I'm starting to get a little bored of the 'action' mini-game that they keep forcing on you. Don't get me wrong, it's fun to interact in sweet cutscenes like playing a guitar or boxing, but it gets tedious after a while. Also, I feel like I can't pay full attention to the cutscene if I'm busy pressing buttons.

Can't complain about the story though, it is admitedely pretty compelling.

Yes! I completely agree with you there! One thing that bugs me especially is when they do it for conversations. It's very hard to pay attention to the conversation and then do some stupid action sequence at the same time. Damn I feel such a love/hate relationship with this game. Just a lot of little things that start to add up.

P.S. who is that chick in your avatar?

Lady Miyomi Jun 27, 2006 12:29 PM

I'm actually nearing the end of Suikoden right now.

Spoiler:
I just liberated Mortivia (sp?) castle and I'm headed off to the Floating Fortress to beat the lady general. I won't be able to get all 108 stars because Luc is dead so Gremio will stay dead. Because I'm nearing the end of Suikoden, I started on Suikoden II.

Wait what, you're close to the end of 1, so you decided to start 2 without finishing 1? =/

Domino Jun 27, 2006 06:47 PM

my signature has the answers, but...

Rome: Total War - I got bored with the rest of my PC games, and decided that it was time for another go on this.
Going well, until the Romano British showed up. Why are they so god damn hard to destroy? :aargh:

Final Fantasy VII (PS1) - Decided to dust this off, after realising that it is the only FF game that i have that i haven't gotten around to finishing. Only 2 hours in, my memory card deleted my old save. damn memory card.

electric_eye Jun 27, 2006 06:57 PM

I started playing Onimusha Warlords (PS2) yesterday but I just finished it there. I played Jet Force Gemini (N64) the day before when I was pretty tired but I wasn't convinced. I think I could make a start on Parasite Eve II (PS) tomorrow.

Summonmaster Jun 27, 2006 07:32 PM

Playing Disgaea still, and just trying to set goals for myself.
I finally worked up the courage to bother to unlock CoO3 and Laharl is level 904 now since I only have a 600 Statistician.
Highly disappointed at CoO5 when I realized the level 1000 Zombie King on the other island.
Defeating Prinny Land 3 over and over to rack up Testaments, and scouring Item Worlds to steal equipment.

I think I'll do all the optional stuff in Wild Arms 4 since I beat it a couple of months ago, and am getting tired of crossing my fingers for specialists to pop up in the item world floors.

Possibly starting Grandia 3 instead as well.

Monkey King Jun 28, 2006 08:35 AM

Wild Arms 4 is rare? You sure? I just picked it up last week at Wal-Mart. I happened to notice it was marked down to $20, so there was no way I could say no. Worth the purchase, although I'm hoping it gets harder down the road. When random hex placement isn't resulting in half my team being eaten before I get a single turn, I'm making a complete mockery of the battle system. Raquel + Tiny Flower = complete devastation.

Now Wild Arms Alter Code F, that's the rare one. I have yet to ever see it in any stores I've passed through.

Golfdish from Hell Jun 28, 2006 07:12 PM

Okay, I stand corrected on Wild Arms 4...A CC a little further out had an entire rack of them. Then I went to an EB near there and found 4 display boxes out on the rack (and one of Code F). Maybe Gamestop shipped all of their stock over to EB? Needless to say, I bought it. The playable intro was nice, especially the Klonoa-like sequences. And the battle system is the entire reason I have interest in the game and it's about what I figured...Hopefully it will become more intuitive as the game goes on. But dammit...Now I'm actually ENJOYING Suikoden IV and I don't want to start up another RPG yet. The fighting has gotten better and stuff finally seems to be happening, so I can't wait to replace some of the cronies currently in my party with future team members. I wonder how long until Princess Flare becomes available as a playable character...Then again, I haven't had to sail much yet, so I might be playing WA4 sooner than I might think.

Small nitpick: Jude in WA4 sounds like the American version of Gohan (DBZ)

But still...An entire rack of WA4. And clearance means they're likely not restocking it. What if it IS the next Suikoden 2/Valkyrie Profile... $_$

Helloween Jun 28, 2006 08:26 PM

Just finished Resident Evil 4 for the 5th time.

I'm now going to buckle down and actually try to beat Assignment Ada. Once done that i'll do a run through of pro mode with the Chicago typewriter. After that, maybe i'll be brave enough to go through pro mode with carried over weapons and items, then after that, the big score, pro mode, square one.

Omnislash124 Jun 28, 2006 08:33 PM

Randomly picked up Final Fantasy IX a while ago and playing it to the end. I was hoping on a master save with mastered characters possibly, but that'll be hard. At least it'll last me a while. I'm on Disc 4 already, so all there is left is Memoria. Whatever. Playing Mario Kart DS at the same time (just picked it up yesterday), which is freakin amazing for a hand held game. It beats quite a few console games in my book.

Jamma Jun 29, 2006 01:16 PM

Serious game: FF5 on PSX.
Piss-around game: Sonic Mega collection on PS2.

Its taken me 3 years to get to the third world on FF5. I keep stopping to level up for specific reasons throughout and then not play it for several months. Unfortunately its happened with every FF game to date. :ashamed:

Helloween Jun 29, 2006 10:24 PM

Rented Baten Kaitos today. Gonna play as much as i can before Sunday when i disappear for the summer. Doubt i'll be able to make it all the way though. This is deffinitly made it onto my buy-if-i-see-it-for-cheap list.

I'm playing 'Ghost Recon:Advanced Warfighter' on the XBOX360. It's a really good game, but I do think it has been a bit overrated by the critics. A lot of scores of 9.0 to 10.0. I'd give it an 8.5. The game can be pretty hard at times, but I guess the game is trying to be as close to real combat as it can be. I'm also going through 'Max Payne' for the XBOX again. The gameplay is repeatitive, but fun. I like the way the game tells the story. The acting is great.

Hi!

I'm playing GGXX - one of my favorite games at the moment ;)
Besides, I'm stuck with my friend in Icewind Dale II ... for months now (maybe years ;) ) - Stupid Bug :| ;_;

Well... oh yeah - GTA:SA is on my list, too - I really like to cruise through the cities during the night listening to kawaiiradio or SFUR ;]

Furthermore... I'm playing games like Lock On, SimCity4, Ghost Recon 1 ;) (also AW - but not that often) , RavenShield, Rise Of Nations from time to time - depends on the situation XD

well - i guess that was it !

I was playing Megaman Battle Network 6 and Anarchy Online, but the sudden release of DMC3 (PC version) got me to play that instead. I swear, I have been waiting for this for a while now, and the last-moment delays for the last two months were really painful. Oh well, it was well worth the wait.

sabbey Jul 2, 2006 05:44 PM

I am playing Darkwatch right now and it's pretty easy. Though, one of the last boss fights has me pulling out my hair... ;)

Guess, I'll move on to God of War!

Spatula Jul 2, 2006 11:30 PM

I finally beat FFIX after dicking around with other games. What a beautiful ending, no honestly, I'd love to be Zidane right there and then. ::grabs lots of CG ass::

Now, I'll probably move onto Front Mission 3. I've been wanting to play another strategy like game like FFT, so this might be the ticket. Also, I'm on the last challenge for God of War for PS2. So I'm pretty far ahead, on easy difficulty, :tpg:.

xSummonerYUnax Jul 3, 2006 09:28 PM

I'm currently playing Haunting Ground. It's really similar to the Clocktower series because they both share the basic concept of running and hiding from enemies/no weapons, but in this game you get a dog as your partner. One of the most impressive aspects so far is how realistic the dog is (everything from the acting to the animation).

JumboMaverick Jul 3, 2006 09:32 PM

Right now I'm playing Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne. Started it a long time ago, got to the final boss, and never beat it. I just started completely over this time around. Such a spectacular game. Oh, and I'm playing Halo 1 & 2 and GGXX/ on weekends competively with the friends. :)

Warning to everyone! Play as much of the series as you can before you see the movie!! Learn from my pain.

Currently playing Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for the PS2.

I've been playing it on and off since it was released back in 2004 by renting it from the local video store but every copy they got ended up getting damaged by all the other idiot renters who treat games like shit. Eventually when the last copy was damaged and they got a replacement it was the "Greatest Hits" version which effectively is the "fixed" version of San Andreas after the whole Hot Coffee debacle and as such the game doesn't recognise save data from earlier versions of the game meaning you had to start all over again...:annoyed:

Considering how far I was into the game restarted was out of the question but luckily I managed to find a copy of the original version in MINT condition a month ago for only $10. Right now I've bought the abandoned airstrip and currently enduring the flight training.

Metroid Prime: Hunters, Ninja Gaiden Black and Prey. I recently got back into the wifi with MP, and I tend to feel the need to play through Ninja Gaiden again every couple months. As for Prey, just got it yesterday and I'm enjoying it. Seems short, bit of a let down, but otherwise fun. Yet to try out multiplayer, but I hear it's pretty lame anyways.

I guess it's time for another update as things have changed since last I posted.

I've been playing a freebie MMORPG for the past few days called Hero Online. Stupid name aside, it's pretty fun and it has a way cool pet system. Got a combat wolf right now. Of course, it's probably not as good as a commercial MMORPG, but I cannot pay monthly to play them for several reasons.

As far as non-free games I've playing, I hold BF2 gaming sessions every Friday. I am playing Kingdom Hearts 2 with my little sister, but I only play when she wants to play, and she rarely plays >_> At this rate, I probably won't be able to see the ending until year 3000. I'm trying to play Sims 2 and Sid Meier's Pirates more often, but my schedule usually does not permit me to do so. I still have some games I've purchased in the last several months that I haven't tried yet either.
Oops, I was supposed to start playing SimCity 3000 again a while back, but never actually got around to it...

I finally got to start SaGa Frontier and I picked Asellus' quest. I'm rather close to the start but you have to figure out quite a bit by yourself so far.
Ildion keeps making me die against monsters, I can't steal this sweet equipment from the one room, a single bird can peck Asellus twice and she'll die, etc. I'm still liking the little I've played so far. :)

In other news, I'm still playing FRONT MISSION 3. I'm doing Emma's story currently and am up to Battle 53: Ravnui Embassy. This was a particularly easy fight. It was mainly close quarters combat and each of the enemy Wanzers were attacking as a single unit, so needless to say, I got Kazuki, Ryogo, Yun, and Marcus beating the crap out of each individual unit. Divide and conquer, like much of the same strategy as the rest of the game.

So far, My top three units are Marcus (dual fist), Ryogo (Shotgun and fist), and Yun (Shotgun and fist). I get Marcus with his dual fist punch to knock down the Wanzer target by about 400 hp, then get Ryogo/Yun to shotgun the bastard to take off the remaining health for the limb. This tactic has helped me win basically most of the battles so far. I have Yun set to two sets of double attacks (melee and shotgun), and Ryogo generally uses Rate of Fire Up I or Zoom I.

Finally dropped World of Warcraft last month and shuffled along a few of my old classic titles (Dues Ex, Castlevania:SOTN, Quake series etc) before deciding to bite the bullet and pickup the expansion to Guild Wars... a bit over a month later and I'm still hooked. Seriously this is one hell of an expansion, especially to someone who hasn't played the game for a good year. =)

Currently downloading the original copy of Rayman to replay as I type this; my original disc is too scratched to death to play anymore. :(

Signify Jul 19, 2006 05:31 PM

I'm mainly trying to complete a save file in Xenosaga: Episode I. I want to finally complete both games before buying the third this Christmas, although I'm not so sure how realistic or attainable this goal is. Besides, I hate the Song of Nephilim. An annoying dungeon with even more annoying music. . .

When I'm not playing that, I'm usually mucking about in Pro Evo 5 (Winning Eleven 9 to you lot).

KCJ506 Jul 20, 2006 07:14 PM

Hitman Blood Money for the X360. This game is very addicting. I'm having fun playing through the levels three times. The first time I use the alternate way off killing my targets. The second time I go on a massacure killing everyone in the level. The third time I go for the silent assassin rating.

I find it funny that dogs will count as witnesses. The dog can't even talk!

Ninja Gaiden Black

Right now I'm trying to get through Missions mode. I'm on Phase 3 of the second set of missions, Doku has been giving me a bit of trouble. I beat the first mission on Master Ninja, still sitting at Normal completion for the others.

Also have two Story Mode saves going, Hard and Ninja Dog, neither of which are past the 2nd chapter.

It all boils down to: This game is honestly hard. Really hard.

I just picked up Valkyrie Profile Lenneth and Blade Dancer Lineage of Light, both for the PSP. I have yet to play the latter, but for Valkyrie Profile Lenneth, I would say that I was a dumbass for not having picked up the original PS1 release. Damn that game is so great. I don't understand how it really works, but I'm in Chapter 2 right now and I kick ass with my Valkyrie. I like how I can customize my characters, how Icicle Edge always overkills my enemies and it doesn't cost anything to cast. I heard they are 3 endings. I'll try to not get any help for that game, so my friend Martin will need to get off me for a couple of weeks now.

Grundlefield Earth Jul 21, 2006 01:56 AM

OH still playing Oblivion of course. And also Kameo: Elements of Power and Project Gotham Racing 3. All of the games are AAA. Plus with Achievements you never played games until you played games on a 360. It's a whole new situation and feeling. The satisfaction of doing everything possible in a game and having proof of such accomplishments is really underrated.

Shame on those still waiting to buy one.

Final Fantasy IV on GBA.

I didn't play it as a kid, I was exposed more to the RPGs during the mid-90s but it's a good game so far. Classic roleplaying elements and I enjoy the depth of a classic that you can't really find in most modern RPGs. Nowadays, developers are so obsessed with graphics and what-not that you don't even get to the real core of a good RPG, which I find FFIV is.

The story is such angst that it's ridiculous in certain aspects. I laugh.

MegaMan Battle Network 5: Double Team

I thought I'd give this a shot after so many versions have been released, just to see if the fuss about it is for real. Simplistic style, pokemon-like environments, rockman quirks, and the battle system ain't half bad so far. The liberation missions are pretty difficult (if you don't save often which I had to do from the 2nd one onwards) but pretty enjoyable nonetheless. Will post up my thoughts on GameFAQs reviews once finished. Good fun, worth a shot to anyone who hasn't played them before.

Man, Front Mission 3 tactic talk is too damn HOT! :)

Anyway, I'm playing both Final Fantasy VII and Mystic Quest Legend/Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. On FFVII I am in the Shinra building and on Mystic Quest I have just passed the Alive Forest part. I've died on Mystic Quest SO many times by petrify/confusion/doom spells.

Cobra Jul 22, 2006 09:41 PM

Tried Battle Coliseum D.O.N tonight with my gang.
Funny for a couple of hours, but the hidden characters are such a pain to get (slots machine !) ;_;

SouthJag Jul 22, 2006 11:45 PM

I've got Astonishia Story in my PSP right now, and I'm really enjoying it. I can't figure out why the reviewers hate the game so much -- sure, it's exactly like a few other RPGs on the PSP -- but at the same time, I'm enjoying extensively more than the others.

The pacing, for one, is great. That's my biggest problem with the Ys: Ark of Napishtim port. The music's pretty good too, not up to Ys' standards, but better than Popolocrois and Generation of Chaos. All the sprites look good and have really smooth animations. Load times for the game are infrequent and brief when they do appear, etc. etc.

Only bad thing is that there is a difficulty spike, but it's easily conquerable with just a bit of level grinding, which is cool because the battles are fun and easy to play out. It's a grid-based system, but it allows for more free movement than, say, the early Arc the Lad games. All in all, I'd give this at least a 7.5 (well above the 4s I've been seeing) if you're an RPG gamer.

KazeJiyuu Jul 23, 2006 07:29 PM

Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria. Awsome game the plot keeps getting better and better as I play. Even with my not-that-good japanese skills it's still easy to play and understand everything.

Also I'll probably start playing ICO tomorrow since I never had a chance to play it..and I've this game for like what...4 months and now I'm with a urge to play it.

nazpyro Jul 24, 2006 12:57 AM

I finished off New Super Mario Bros., Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time and Sonic Rush while I was gone the last 6 weeks so that exhausts all my storyline DS games. Oh, except Metroid Prime: Hunters which I can just seem to never get around to starting. But I'll most likely be playing that next on DS, unless I get some more games this week for it.

On PS2, my football fever is still high, so I'm still playing a lot of FIFA Soccer 06. And since I'm back, I can continue on with Kingdom Hearts II maybe. Need motivation for that though :/.

Burp Jul 25, 2006 04:01 AM

Megamari, a doujin of Touhou who is a clone of Megaman, imagine Megaman 1 with thousand of bullets... i really need to beat this title.

YoMan Jul 29, 2006 05:47 PM

Currently playing Shadow Hearts FTNW. There are som good aspects of it, some minor modifications/improvements to the battle system, but overall nowhere near Covenant. It just feels mediocre at best.

On the pc i've got Titan Quest and Prey. I've been dragging out titan quest for quite some time now due to the fact that the game is filled with bugs. I don't even know if i will ever finish it.

Prey has some good ideas, like the portals, the anti-gravity thing and to some extent the leaving of your body, but again overall, mediocre at best. The new ideas definatly boost the game, but again it just feels and plays like an ordinary FPS.

sabbey Jul 29, 2006 07:55 PM

I just bought F.E.A.R and Quake 4 for my new PC. Haven't started Quake 4 yet, but F.E.A.R. is a damn good game, can't wait for the upcoming expansion pack and I am only about halfway through it so far...

While not the best FPS ever, there's just something about it. Maybe my new uber videocard, I have no idea! :D

Chaotic Jul 29, 2006 08:55 PM

At the moment...

Soul Calibur III for the sake that I never beat Chronicles of the Sword, and that I'm trying to get good with Ivy while using my own created character.

Fable: The Lost Chapters... It's just an amazing game period. I haven't gotten very far, but I finally got hold of an XBOX from my friend and playing it.

Halo 2 just for the sake that me and my friend want to do something RvB esque. But i'm just trying to get good in it anyway.

randomwab Aug 8, 2006 12:05 PM

The Warriors, I got this on release, completed it and never touched it. I'm replaying it now and forgot how awesome it is. "Can you dig it suckers?"

nazpyro Aug 8, 2006 12:40 PM

Fooling around with Big Brain Academy and Magentica, which are currently my DS games of choice during my commute. Both are fun games, with Magnetica becoming more and more frustrating and Big Brain Academy declaring I have a fucking huge brain.

On the GameCube, I've been rolling with Sonic Mega Collection. It's so fun. I miss these games.

28Link Aug 8, 2006 01:10 PM

Currently playing DMC3 (so good), and Star Wars Starfighter, both on PC. Also been replaying some GBA Castlevania. Hopefully, I'll finally get around to beating Tales of Symphonia when I get home from university. I swear, I could have beaten it a long time ago, but ended up trying to get more EX points, and then moving on to another game before I got to the final boss.

Ramenbetsu Aug 8, 2006 01:21 PM

Tales of Legendia - 7 hours in and im really enjoying it. I don't get all the hate for it, its awesome. Art direction is so nice <3

Front Mission 4 - What can i say, I love mecha and i love this game.

Winter Storm Aug 8, 2006 03:57 PM

I've restarted Legend of Legaia and that fun feeling I got when I first used a hyper art is still there. I'm going to try to master this game and get everything. Apparently there is some Ra-Seru spells that you can obtain by finding certain stones and fulfilling other requirements.

IF it LEFT out doubles and double combos and kept the battle system intact it would have been a better game than covenant. You'll find that there is too much dependance on needing stock to prevent the bosses from doing anything. This keeps you from fighting the way you want. Johnny also has abnormally low SP..even Alice has more than this guy at the start and finish.

Are you talking about better battle system or better overall game?

nazpyro Aug 26, 2006 02:07 AM

DS: Super Mario 64 DS, which I've never beat even though it was the first DS game I got (it came with the DS). Also: Trauma Center: Under the Knife, the most fun in a video game I've had in a while.

PS2: Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII. I've been unmotivated to play it, but I'm getting through it. I'll probably just beat it at Normal once and stow it away. Forever. It does make me want to play Final Fantasy VII again though.

GC: Sonic the Hedgehog 3! (off Sonic Mega Collection). Yay.

Celes Chere Aug 26, 2006 09:41 PM

I'm playing Yoshi's Island on the GBA right now. I have the SNES version too, and completed the game in the sense that I beat the final boss, but never got 100% in each level. Here's to hoping I can do that now.

I'm patiently awaiting FFV and FFVI for the GBA as well.. and FFXII for the PS2.

SouthJag Aug 26, 2006 10:01 PM

I'm mixing it up between another round of Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth in order to get the A Ending, Onimusha Dawn of Dreams and Resident Evil 4.

speculative Aug 28, 2006 09:03 AM

I'm playing Jak and Daxter 1 for PS2. It is suprisingly good and has drawn me into its colorful world and simple yet challenging platforming.

Weapon Aug 28, 2006 07:01 PM

PC: HalfLife 2: Aftermath

PS2: In the middle of a few but mainly Prince of Persia 3, Resident Evil 4 and Shadow Hearts 3 FTNW.

Yes, Jonny has very low SP but a simple SP bonus item (when hit at MAX/PERFECT) will add another 6 SP to him. Save before you do this so if you miss the PERFECT just load the game and try again.
