GFF Speed
How's everyone's speed on GFF? The server is located in Chicago. More long haul fiber runs through Chicago than any other US city and should work well with our international audience. Also, the server is a little faster than our old one and a lot cheaper!
Speed is fine. Of course, we won't know for sure until the site is being hammered by hundreds of people aching for their ChocoJournal and their drama. ;)
yeah it seems like the speed is the same as before... if it is faster I can't really tell. I live in Venezuela as you can see so I am part of that international audience.
I noticed a bit of lag when 100+ guests all tried to register at the same time, but now it's gone. :kitsune:
It's exactly the same as before. At least it appears so from Hungary.
It's flying for me, cap'n.
Well the old GFF was really fast, so there wasn't much of a potential improvement.
I'm browsing GFF faster than another PC on my network's FTP server.
This is an awesome server. Good work bobo!
Cheaper and faster? Sounds like this should have been done long ago! =D
things seem to be running fine when viewing from Disneyland... good to go ^_^
Running at a nice speed right now, glad to be back bobo!
Everythings a-ok for me, still damn fast.
Well, I'm browsing on a shitty SunRay terminal at my university, and it's loading as fast as the goddamned thing can display it.
Otherwise, I notice nothing really all that different. |
Works fine from Belgium, I even have the feeling that it is a bit faster.
I'm getting tremendous lag. I mean, it's taking me five minutes to load just one page!
Just kidding. I haven't noticed much improvement over the old speeds, so everything's fine. THE END. Do you like ferrets? |
Didn't have any problems. It's fast as ever.
Seems to be very fast, and didn't even give me any problems when the hundreds of people first logged on to register. Good job, and hope to see you around the boards.
It appears to be very fast, though I can't see any difference in loading speed from the old gff.
Tracert says ev1 something has changed to steadfast something.
As a result ping has dropped by ~3. |
*speeds in and speeds on out of here*
Nice to see you got things together, Rich. I hope the same goes for everything else offline too. |
Server is in Chicago, Musharraf is in Germany, and so far, the speed is very good.
This one does appear slightly faster than the old server, but like others noted the previous server was pretty fast in itself so there wasn't a whole lot of room for improvment.
Server in Chicago, Elixir in New Zealand. I can't tell the difference between the older gff and the newer gff's speed, but I presume this is faster than previously.
Then again, it is meant to be $1350 worth. |
It's the same as before, on my end. But cngrats on finally moving servers!
As long as things stay up, I'm not TOO worried about speed. Nice to know though...
Speed is great for me as well (from Minneapolis, MN), in fact it is even faster than the old server based on ping reply:
http://excrono.dyndns.org:4249/excro.../pingreply.png I used to get an average ping time of about 25-30ms, so it seems like an improvement to me. |
Yeah, nice and quick. I like the way that the new board doesn't even have the loading screen between clicking the reply button and the thread reappearing, the post just appears instantly. Or am I just on an insanely fast connection?
It runnin' bleedin' fast for me. Only on dial-up, but it still opens around 3 or 4 tabs in Firefox faster than it would take to load just one on the old server. (Could be because Chicago is closer to me than the old server.)
Awesome! |
It's the same as before the board went down and much faster than when GFF came back up again. No problems for me.
it's a bit faster here from India, just keep it so (you get it)
