Marketplace updates and DL content thread

There's a plethora of information on the internet about current marketplace updates and downloadable content releases but frankly, who has time to go looking for it?

This thread is for people to post information on new releases on Xbox Live, be it game demos or what have you on market place or new DLC on Xbox games.

Please only post info on stuff that has been released already or has a confirmed date. This is not a speculation thread.

Also, any posts not contributing to the list of available stuff or making useful comments on the stuff that's been released, will be deleted.

When telling us about updates, please check first to see if anyone already posted it and please include as much info as possible.

Right, carry on.

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor May 30, 2006 03:03 PM

Quick question.

Would general things like "PGR3 just got an update patch" or information on the firmware update go in here, or is this just for things that can be downloaded from the marketplace directly?

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss May 30, 2006 03:12 PM

Well I thought that any major releases of dlc, firmware or major patches should go here. Basically, if you think people will want to know about it, post it up.

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor May 30, 2006 03:14 PM

Ok, gotcha. Thanks for the clarification.

Carrying right along: The newest content is from NHL2K6, it's a picture pack for 80 MSP. There is also a couple of Battle for Middle Earth II things. One is an Elves picture pack for 160 points and the other is a "Cinematic Painting" Theme for 150.

Tube May 30, 2006 04:28 PM

Except this thread will essentially just be a mirror of www.majornelson.com, since that's where most people learn about new marketplace additions before posting them in here.

value tart May 30, 2006 09:37 PM

But he doesn't post about patches and stuff usually, from what I've seen. It's always been annoying to download a patch and not know what it does.

Also, in my case, I can't access Major Nelson's blog 5 days out of 7. >=(

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss May 31, 2006 02:15 AM

Well we'll see how this goes. If it gets redundant I'll remove it.

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Jun 8, 2006 01:53 AM

Other than the important firmware upgrade which everyone should have gotten by now (see the thread on it), there is something else of note that's up on the marketplace.

Perfect Dark Zero's "Map Pack 1" (So there will be more I guess) is out. 500 MSP. A little steep but at least it's 4 maps for that price. Beats CoD 2's pricing scheme if you don't count the free ones they gave out.

There is also an Oblivion patch. I assume it does what the PC patch did. Fix a few of the infinite gold tricks and other little bugs.

Lastly, there is a Rumble Roses demo. ::noonecares::

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Jun 14, 2006 02:12 PM

SInce last update there has been a whole bunch of crap NO ONE CARES ABOUT. Fucking picture packs for various games and so forth. WOW DOWNLOAD MOTO GP PICTURE PACKS. ::thumbsdown::

Anyway, there is also STREET FIGHTER PICTURE PACKS AND A THEME...but no game. So now you can have a theme fuill of lol RYU and various other characters to NOT PLAY YOUR DAMN ARCADE GAME ON.

Awesome.

TonyDaTigger Jun 22, 2006 05:04 PM

According to IGN, before Major Nelson even the Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter Chapter 2 downloadable content is out.

It will go for 1200 marketplace points (~$15).

Full story here:

I'll be playing this tonight so page me if anyone wants to slug through the new co-op campaign.

Kilroy Jul 1, 2006 01:51 AM

A Prey demo should be available right noooow. It should take up about 1.5 Gigs. I hope this is appropriate.

Tube Jul 12, 2006 09:32 PM

New shit.

-Simpsons Movie Trailer (crappy, about 10 seconds long)
-Halo 3: In the Beginning (Making of the Trailer)
-NCAA Football 2007 Demo ( ::noone cares:: )
-Trailer: Mass Effect: Demo Walkthrough (am also confused what that means)
-Frogger (XBLA)
-Oh yeah, more PGR3 cars and modes (nuBZ)

Grundlefield Earth Jul 13, 2006 01:22 AM

What new PGR style pack #2 isn't important enough along with the GAME UPDATE that adds two new modes (Cat and Mouse, Cone Capure). nubtube

Texas Hold'Em coming out August 23rd?

Quote:

Microsoft recently announced that it will be releasing downloadable games in the middle of the week as part of its Xbox Live Arcade Wednesdays program. The company revealed the first five games on the promo's schedule but didn't venture beyond that, ending with Pac-Man on August 9.

Now it appears that a fortnight after gamers are gobbling up ghosts and feeding on power pellets they'll be gambling on inside straights and reading players' tells. On Xbox.com, the product page for Texas Hold 'Em shows a release date of August 23, a date that has been confirmed for GameSpot by a Microsoft rep.

Gamers won't be able to play for money, but that shouldn't bother too many because the game itself is free, making it the second free game for the Xbox 360 after Hexic HD (available gratis on the optional 20GB hard drive). Card sharks will be able to play standard games, tournaments, and various scenarios, as well as create their own poker variants for up to eight players.
Best part is it is free!

T1249NTSCJ Jul 30, 2006 07:40 AM

Anyone know for sure how many points will score you SFII on Tuesday?

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Jul 30, 2006 08:27 AM

You mean on Wednesday? 800 points/10 bucks.

T1249NTSCJ Jul 30, 2006 04:54 PM

Damn I guess it was foolish of me to think it would be 400 minimum.

The worst part is that it's no longer free. :(

Just remind everyone that tomorrow's August 1st and the SAINT's ROW demo will be up!

SpaceInsomniac. Jul 30, 2006 08:26 PM

After my last post, I hate to bring more bad news, but there are 31 days in July.

On the bright side of things, that means back to back Saints Row demo and Street Fighter II downloads. On the less bright side of things, I have work early on Wednesday, so no late night tuesday download for me. :(

Also, I don't see it posted here, but you people do know there's a demo of Ninty-Nine Nights on the marketplace, right?

SketchTheArtist Jul 30, 2006 08:56 PM

Oops. My bad.

N3 is fun for a while, but I have to say that visually, I'm far from impressed. Fog and pop-ups aren't suppose to be present on next-gen systems.

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Jul 31, 2006 10:44 AM

I guess that's a side effect from having 500+ characters on the screen at any given time.

The 360 may be a powerful machine and all, but it's not like it has infinite processing power. Remember how bad similar games of this sort looked on the PS2? It's quite a leap over the likes of Dynasty Warriors.

Anyway, N3 is a riot. It went from rental to purchase for me.

No, that's just the marketing utopia that is presented with the launch of any new console. No matter how many advances in technology are made someone will either have to cut corners for the sake of some other part of the agme to be better or simply cut corners for financial reasons.

Tube Aug 2, 2006 11:39 AM

Guess I should just add to this pointless thread by saying STREET FIGHTER 2 IS OUT.

T1249NTSCJ Aug 2, 2006 12:17 PM

Is it just me or did they make it really difficult, my guess is this would justify the title Hyper Fighting title. :eyebrow: I hopped right into 7-star difficulty and well, I'm still a long ways to go.

SpaceInsomniac. Aug 2, 2006 07:06 PM

It's a port of the arcade version, and the arcade was always way harder than the home version. If you doubt me, play the SNES rom, and then play the MAME rom. With both set at either standard difficulty or even one star, the arcade will kick your ass WAY more than the SNES version. It's a shame really. Between me not playing this for years, and having to fight the 360's shitty D-pad, I'd have much rather seen a port of the SNES difficulty levels rather than the arcade original. Still, online play is FAR better than I thought it would be. That and hotseat is all you really need. Screw the single player.

T1249NTSCJ Aug 3, 2006 08:52 AM

Just finished it this morning, took me about half an hour with the difficulty set up to maximum. I honestly couldn't see a difference between 1 star difficulty or 7, I just finished it for the first time today knocking out two birds with one stone. :)
Dhalsim has got to be the friendliest fighter of the bunch but what surprised me was how easy the 3 fighters before Bison were when compared to say...Ken, Ryu or Guile. :eyebrow: And if you're wondering, yes...Bison is still a bastard. :lolsign:

Symphony of the Night Heads to XBLA
PSOne's best? Castlevania heading to Xbox Live.
by Luke Smith, 08/03/2006

Kaz Hirai's triumphant warcry of "Riiiiiidge Racer" on the PSP led people to believe other key PSOne titles would soon be heading to the PSP via emulation. Apparently Konami missed the memo, as Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is making its way to Xbox Live Arcade.

The September issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly (issue: 207) reports:

Konami is resurrecting the cult PS1 game Castlevania: Symphony of the Night on Xbox Live Arcade. Along with SOTN, Konami is also bringing back other classic hits, some revered (Frogger, Contra, Super Contra, Track & Field) some obscure (Time Pilot), and some really obscure (Scramble).

When will SOTN head to XBLA? Representatives from Konami told 1UP that the game is tenatively slated for a Q1 2007 release on XBLA.
Oh shit.

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Aug 3, 2006 06:53 PM

That game woudln't have leaderboards or co-op, so it doesn't make sense.

It'll also be a fucking GINORMOUS download.

I like how by the time I buy a second hard drive, the first one will literally be full of 500 arcade games at this rate.

JasonTerminator Aug 3, 2006 07:33 PM

This would be much, much hotter if they remade Dracula X for the 360 arcade as well. I wanna play the game, but I don't want to go through the trouble of emulating it.

Solis Aug 4, 2006 11:38 AM

Dead Rising demo is now on the marketplace.

T1249NTSCJ Aug 4, 2006 05:06 PM

When I get back I'll have to download it, I do hear that the file is 1GB but exactly how many minutes of gameplay is on it or should I just wait on gamefly come August 8.

SpaceInsomniac. Aug 5, 2006 12:52 AM

You can end it in under a minute or two if you enter the right door, or you can play for quite some time killing everything you see. This isn't like the Prey demo where you'll have to replay damn near an hour of the game once you buy/rent the full version.

T1249NTSCJ Aug 5, 2006 10:39 AM

I was roaming free to see how long can it go until the demo comes to a close and once the clock strikes 7PM in the game, lights out. The zombies alter to low level crimson heads I would say. That would make the game more intense if that does in fact take place. :asthanos:

Update: As of today 8/9, Pac-Man was uploaded on the XBL Marketplace. Should be an easy 200 points.

Kilroy Aug 23, 2006 06:15 AM

Texas Hold 'em Poker Xbox Live Arcade game thing is onine right now. Even better is it's free. Until friday at least. Get downloading, people!

More good news, tomorrow should bring a demo of Just Cause, and a second demo of Test Drive.

Solis Aug 24, 2006 08:18 AM

Just Cause demo is now available on the the marketplace, at about 630 megs.

Incredible Machine For XBLA
Quote:

The document also reveals a great deal of previously unknown information on Vivendi's strategy, including confirmation of many unannounced titles from the company's Sierra Online division. These include Xbox 360 Live Arcade title Megaforce for this year, alongside Xbox 360 Live Arcade and PC SKUs of 3D Ultra Mini Golf, as well as PC and Xbox 360 Live Arcade titles based on classic puzzler The Incredible Machine in 2007.
That's a long way away, but still INCREDIBLE

Kilroy Sep 1, 2006 01:49 AM

Oh, god. Incredible Machine. I came. Twice!

On a related note; some game, a shmup, called Time Pilot has attacked the Arcade. 400 points is the price.

T1249NTSCJ Sep 25, 2006 05:29 PM

A bunch of updates on the XBL Marketplace most notably is a playable demo of FEAR. Zipped through it in about 5 minutes and I'll be downloading the PC version for sure.

Grundlefield Earth Sep 25, 2006 06:50 PM

And you would be foolish because that was the demo released a long time before E3. It has already been confirmed to have better graphics and more features. for the 360. People seriously take demos too seriously.

(I have not played the demo, but even so, I read this issue and was smart enough to not even bother wiith it).

T1249NTSCJ Sep 25, 2006 07:10 PM

Well playing FPS games on console has always been 2nd nature to me. I much prefer the controls of a mouse and keyboard over a controller anyday. As for visuals, well that depends on your PC setup. I plan on playing this game on max settings once this download goes through. 1280x1024 > 1280x720. :)

Everyone probably already knows, but the Breakdown demo was put up recently

value tart Feb 8, 2007 12:59 AM

Root Beer Tapper came out today!

It's a really crappy arcade game that goes for 400 MSP!

Don't get it!

Gixah Feb 14, 2007 08:57 AM

February 14th -- today's Live Arcade title is:

Paperboy!

Still the scariest game imaginable. I still frown at the fact that many people are willing to go out of their way to keep this paperboy from delivering a newspaper. Beware the Brutish Breakdancer.

DBCE Slayer Feb 17, 2007 05:43 AM

There's several new themes & Gamerpics packs released. FEAR just recently released a Dark theme, Battlestar Galactica has a theme and Gamerpic pack. A free Borat Theme and Gamerpic pack was released.

Cat9 Mar 21, 2007 07:27 AM

Castlevania: SOTN should be out today in Xbox Live!

TMNT out last week!

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor May 12, 2007 02:35 PM

I was thinking. This thread is mighty useless in it's current iteration, and could use a recreation with a tighter focus. I'll work on it when I get back from work.

Could it get destickied?

Miles May 12, 2007 02:44 PM

I'm working on organizing things here. Give me some time. A fox can only handle so much at once. =p

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor May 12, 2007 02:45 PM

I'll annoy you as I see fit. >=(

CloudNine May 28, 2007 10:13 AM

Ok, 360 now has .mp4 support but WMP doesn't support .mp4. Has anyone here gotten WMP to allow you to put .mp4 files into your library so that you can stream them to your 360?

I've tried this plugin here, and it doesn't seem to work.

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor May 28, 2007 05:07 PM

Use TVersity instead of any of the "official" server software.

It's a much more fully featured server program, plus it can transcode on the fly for audio formats your 360 won't play at all, like FLAC. I've also not run into any problems with it for anything, unlike all the other server programs I've used, which basically don't work half the time for one reason or another.

Wrong thread, by the way.

nuttyturnip May 30, 2007 09:43 AM

Is anyone else excited about Mad Tracks, which is supposed to be released on XBLA today? It looks like an updated version of Micro Machines, and it's been getting great reviews. I plan to download this tonight (800 points).

I'm also happy because there's some new content for Worms today, and most of it is free. Finally, some new voices, and a free terrain; I think there are 2 other terrains that cost points.
