Ghost Rider - "I can eat a peach for hooours..."
 

So Nicholas Cage stars as GHOST RIDER. This is old-ass news for most of you, since it's been all over the Internet for a while. The teaser trailer that was revealed last year wasn't very impressive and I honestly felt the movie was going to be a piece of shit. It may very well be in the end, but this new trailer looks much better.

I'm not a fan of the Rider (I prefer this one, lol~) and I really don't know much about his past and stuff. This trailer did convince me to read up on him later, though. So I guess that's good. Or something.

Ignoring Megalith, where is that girl (the other "rider") from? I'm assuming one of the Personas.

worst cg? yeah right, the riding up the building was 20 times better then Ultraviolets version.

Looks fucking bad ass, mate. Like I said, very Persona-ish. Worth a download?

Because it's still eight and a half months until the release date.

I honestly wasn't expecting much either, but the more of Nick Cage I see, the more I'm convinced he can play a diverse number of roles. I kinda like the aging daredevil aspect of it too, as opposed to a younger-looking guy like Depp just finding the motorcycle in an alleyway.

It shares some features with Spawn, but it looks like since `97 the CG and the movie budgets have caught up some with the artistic visions. I'll definitely check it out when it comes out.

To me, Ghost Rider looks perfectly reasonable. My only concern, considering the roles mentioned on the list, is that they won't be able to do Blackheart and Mephisto justice.

Hence the link to the official site with a release date and a two minute trailer in the opening post.

The anime's pretty good, even if some of the subplots and history is missing (which feels pretty much like most Japanese cinema, leaving you to come to your own conclusions or, more commonly, going "what the fuck"). Rider is a pretty bitching design, although most of the other characters aren't as "Persona-esque," unless you count this guy. Unfortunately, he doesn't appear in the series (as far as I know, two episodes left).

I recommend episodes 8-12 if you just want Rider goodness.

The trailer makes the movie look good, but that CGI skull just doesn't look good at all. I hope they fix it, but those looked like final shots to me. They probably won't change it.

Ghost Rider was my fav comic hero growing up and looking at some of the trailers, it looks like they might just pull it off. Although I doubt It will meet my standards. Well I say that the skull also looks a little off along with the flames surrounding it, sometimes it looks great; other times it looks off.

Either way I am defintely watching it in theaters and buying the DVD.

Ghost Rider is the FUCKING SHIT.

I'm glad that they're doing Johnny Blaze from the 70s instead of the limberdicked Dan Ketch character from the 90s. I doubt that the movie will be as good as the comic use to be (Ghost Rider has some of the most ass-kicking smacktalk I've ever read) but I'm still interested. Nic Cage is a major GR fan, so maybe it'll work out.

I can't wait for this movie to come out :D

Ghost Rider was the first comic book series I ever read (even before I was introduced to the likes of Spiderman, Mobius, or X-men) ^____^ This most recent trailer has me very excited indeed ^_____^

Next year is going to be an awesome year for movies ^___^ I've got Ghost Rider, Spiderman 3, and Transformers to look forward to ^o^ (oh, and I'm also really looking forward to the new God of War game... but that's another story ^__^ )

Goddamn that looked cool. That sounded like Sam Elliot's voice in the background which i'm not overly thrilled about. He's always pretending to be a badass when he's really just a scrawny old dude with a deep voice. Never really liked him. But Nick Cage looks like he'll do a good job.

I haver never heard much about Ghost Rider at all, I have only heard the name in very few senteces. Too bad though, when I read the topic for this title, I thought it was going to be about the movie "Face Off" I live that movie...

Since you're such an expert, maybe you could explain to us exactly what's wrong with particular shots and how it could be handled better. Do you work for ILM?

I think it looks pretty good, especially the bike. Yeah, the skull could use some work, but it's pretty far away from the release date yet. Give it time, even if these are 'final shots.' It's not unheard of to go back and revamp a movie.

I myself am not terribly familiar with GR, so if there's any inconstancies with the comic or whatnot, I'll be oblivious :). And I like Nic Cage... he always plays such a variety of characters.

I really want to see this, now that I've seen the new (and better amirite) trailer for it. I'm pumped.

Youarerite. The trailer looks promising indeed and I definitely think this will be a film I end up seeing in the cinema when it comes out.

This is going to be a great movie. Now i can surely watch the movie the first time then watch it the second time by imitating his voice quotes in theatres XD.

Just saw it today. It was pretty good, though, it could have been better as character development was definitely lacking. Especially since they blazed through the origin in, like, 10 minutes (barely building up the relationship between Johnny and his father, and Roxanne, but definitely indicating it was there).

The cgi of Ghost Rider himself was really impressive, the visuals for him looked so real. Heh, found myself laughing a lot too as there were quite a few hilarious moments/jokes. But what was the deal with the jelly beans? Was it like that in the comics too?

But hey there was plenty of clevage from Mendes. Oh and Raquel Alessi was perfectly casted for the young Roxanne, she looked just like a younger Mendes.

I found the movie pretty entertaining and fun but the dialouge was some of the worse I have ever heard. Aside from that it was good stuff.

I saw this movie opening night, which to my suprise was sold out till the 10:10pm showing.

I can say that this movie was definitely bad. BUT, I still enjoyed it greatly. Ghost Rider had been a childhood favorite of mine, so maybe there's some bias in my opinion of the movie.

I think something that helps making the movie "enjoyable" is if you see it not expecting anything too serious. After all, how serious can you take a hero with a flaming skull and a motorcycle, and an origin that takes all of 20 minutes to tell? Also, just as a sidenote, it's just as quick in the comic, basically (although some stuff was switched around).

I found the CGI to be hit-or-miss in some areas, but I was pleased with it for the most part. The dialogue was pretty much horrible, but again, you can't go to this expecting Citizen Kane.

Uh. Peter Parker was a nerd who was bitten by a radioactive spider and given spider-like superpowers. Eventually his uncle dies and the guilt drives him to become Spiderman.

If it takes 20 minutes to relate the origin of a super hero, one would think people are going to take that seriously.

True enough. I guess I just don't think of Spider-Man's origin as being as simple. Even though looking back, they're all fairly simple to begin with.

Horrible. Absolutely horrible.

Zero character development. None. Sure Johnny is cursed and is forced to live a life that cannot end until Satan calls in a favor in exchange for his soul, but that won't stop him from enjoying monkey kung fu fights and doing tricks on the highway to impress Eva Mendes.

And yeah, she's his one true love. Do we get anything about that? Aside from a scene under a tree, nope.

Why does Blackheart look like he's going to a NIN show rather than being the sone of the devil? Who are these elemental henchmen that Johnny dispatches like poor quality sub bosses in a videogame (available on PS2!)?

The dialogue was horrid (I like to watch TV), and the acting was quite bad. And I found the CGI to be pretty poor. GR's head appeared to be disproportionate to the rest of his body. He looked like a shrunken flaming head.

Overall I was simply bored with it. Nothing exciting happened. I couldn't connect with the characters. I didn't want Johnny to succeed. I didn't want him to lose, I simply didn't care. Once and audience can't connect with a character and becomes aware of this, it's over. Any emotional investment in watching the movie is lost.

When you are at the point of fighting off sleep during the "big action scene", you know there is a problem.

On the comic book shitty movie scale I rank this just below X3 (Which was abysmal) and only slightly above Spawn (which was...bad).

lol Agreed! The dialogue was cringe worthy. The villains were stupid. But Entertaining? Yes. The worst comic book adaptation? Not quite.

I don't really think it's as bad as my brother said. He said "Ghost Rider makes The Wicker Man look like an academy award winning movie". I've seen better comic book movies but at the same time I've seen worse. It was OK.
