Sony's E3 Press Conference in 1 minute
This is what you should watch instead of Sony's actual uber boring 1hr something conference.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJEls...page=1&t=t&f=b MASSIVE DAMAGE! |
Priceless. I'm surprised his "Ridge Racer" hasn't become an internet meme yet. It will once this link gets passed around enough.
|
Loved it. I watched it a while ago, and it's still awesome, wahaha.
|
LOL!!!
It's Ridge Racer. Riiiiiiiidge Racer! Awesome! |
All I got from it was:
599 US Dollars for Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiidge Racer! |
599 US dollar...599 US dollar...599 US dollar...599 US dollar...599 US dollar...599 US dollar... NOESS IT IS IN MY HEAD...
|
yup... that summed things up quite well
|
"So here's this giant enemy crab..."
|
Funny to say the least.
I normally don't like to see people get mocked like this, but it's inevitable. And it did sum up the Sony press conference very well. |
That was hilarious. I love videos that repeat dumb things like Ridge Racer or giant enemy crab. That was priceless.
|
Of all the places to announce your terrible pricing, in front of an audience of 20somethings?? After yelling about Ridge Racer, while holding a PSP's glared up screen to a projection camera??
|
so here's this giant enemy crab.....
it's 599 for the 60gb ps3... it's 499 for the 20gb ps3... |
RIDGE RACER? THE GOGGLES, THEY DO NOTHING!
|
Still an awesome video even after seeing it so many times.
While the Riiiidge Racer quote is funny enough, a lot of people are missing some of the more subtle jabs. Hirai talks about how "the essence of the Playstation DNA is real change", and then you have a guy introducing an action game, based on japanese history (with the hilariously statement-contradicting GIANT ENEMY CRAB) and PSP emulating old PS1 games. Quote:
A lot of people don't realize that the Ridge Racer quote is from the demonstration of a PSP playing an emulated Ridge Racer 1. The video has a few more priceless Hirai quotes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EToMOl_mRdE |
Somehow I'm more amused about the speech of this Genji 2 guy than "Riiiiidge Raceeeeer".
"Eh, Genschi 2 is an Aschon game, which is based on Japanese history. Eh, being based on history, the stages of the game will also be based on famous battles, which took actually took place in anschient Japan. So here is this giant enemy crab." Priceless. :tpg: |
Giant Crab is awesome, because it so realistically portrays true Japanese bushido qualities. DONT MESS WITH.

I didn't think that Genji 2 and the giaint crab footage were from the same game, but it wouldn't really suprise me. Overall the press conference seemd quite pathetic, with so many gimmicks (like Ridge Racer on a PSP), its not even funny. Sony has just about screwed themselves over with the PS3 (esp with the 600 dollar price tag), and this video manages to capture that in all its hillarity.
|
In the same conference, I remember something else that's pathetic. I can't remember the game, but it went something like this.
"another innovation in this game is real time weapon switching!" 0_o... like Diablo II? |
Of all the games to have been emulated, especially since we're talking Namco here, you'd figure he'd pick something more memorable. I wonder how big the meme would have become here if he did Ace Combat.

I don't like the way he said Ridge Racer. Should had more oomph, or he should say it like Howard Dean.
"RRRRRRRRRIIIIDDDGEE RRAAACCEERRR!" Massive Damage FTW. |
In the Ridge Racer video, Hirai looks like such a douche. He's showing off the PSP, but it looks like he's not even moving the controls. His car should have crashed; in actuality, he might have just been playing a video of someone playing Ridge Racer from the memory stickRIIIDGE RACER.
|
|
There's three things I got from Sony's E3 Press Conference:
Ridge Racer Giant enemy crab thing $599 US dollars Nice. |
ridge (Giant Crab) ridge...Racer! Rrrracer!
599-599-599 us dollars, (giant crab) racer! lol, good stuff! |
There's another one of these floating around that has the other guy (not Kaz) talking about "we are not interested in gimmicks." The next line is "so watch as I lift the controller up...and it flies!!"
It also cut two of Kaz's quotes to say "Riiiiidge Racer ... is as essential as the air we breathe" |
|
HOLYCRAB ;___;

Also, the article doesnt mention anything about a weakpoint that you can attack for MASSIVE DAMAGE!
|
We should revive the GamingHorde and start to assimilate the living into zombies. Then we will all buy 1 system for $599 US Dollars. And we will play 1 game. RIIIIIIDGE RACER!
|
Damn funny, here's another one I thought was great: click.
Featuring such great quotes as: "We're really starting to push what this machine is capable of." followed by "Real-time weapon change." or "It's exhilarating." followed by "beep, beep, beep" or "Another exciting aspect is the ability for the consumer to make microtransactions." followed by, you guessed it, 599 US DOLLARS! The drunken flying in Warhawk was hilarious as well. |
Ooooh might as well throw this in here. A gathering place for GIANT ENEMY CRAB and other such things sometimes badly done for extra hilarity!

Priceless. |
|
after watching this video, I knew this had to be done.

Fucking post of the year ^.
|
Take that Sony.
|
I totally agree with Massive Damage.....it seems like sony is just going more and more downhill. And I'm not a big PS fan but is ridge racer THAT big of a game?
Oh and 600 dollars for a system no matter what it can do it just plain stupid. *Damn man, kick ass drawing!!* |
http://lexluthor.ytmnd.com/
it relates to this. so freaking funny!!! |
OMG!!! My drink almost came out of my nose after I saw that ytmnd. I think Kaz knows that he was wrong saying those things at the conference. Those things were exactly what I didn't want to hear from Sony.
