It's pretty amusing to watch the guy try to pronounce Venice. I enjoyed that part quite a bit. Also, what exactly were the ones being disqualified hit with?

They guy trying to speak English looked like he was about to cry a few times during that video. I almost felt bad for him.

What the hell kinda game show is this anyway? It's so funny: every so often some snippet of an Asian show shows up online, everyones LOL's, but does anyone have any idea what the whole thing is like, if there even is one? We only see bits and pieces, but does this stuff go on for thirty minutes at a time or something?

I watched the whole thing without laughing, so do I get a prize or something?

But seriously, wow...I can't believe the Japanese failed at funny.

They should show a video like that in front of an American classroom and see how many laugh and face the same consequences. That would be hilarious.

I thought the parts that showed the audience trying not to laugh was amusing. One of the students was holding his face steady with both hands.

But to be honest though, there were a couple of times where I almost laughed, though I did nothing more than smile for a little bit.

I looked it up and found out that it's made up of 4 bamboo slats. Definitely on the painful list.

Isn't it some type of discipline weapon? I saw that in some documentary. Is there more than one usage or type?

Undertones of S&M going on here. We all want to 'learn.'

It wasn't as funny as I thought it would be. It was more humorous watching the contestants flunk out. However, the "ten ten" for 20 got me pretty good.

What's funnier is anime shows when the characters are in English class reading a passage and they mangle the language horribly, or in Beck where they're supposed to be a native speaker and so they insert English slang and curse words.

I managed not to laugh. He did pretty well and I'm sure I'd sound pretty funny trying to read German or something (or romanji Japanese)

I didn't laugh, but I smiled--especially at the one trying to eat his magazine....

But the student that amazed me was the one who giggled, and just got up--knowing he was going to get hit.

But, yeah, the guy in the video looked like he was ready to cry, and I liked his style: can't say it English--say it in your native language.

You crazy people, it's not one continuous chain of 10s! It's 10-10, 10-10, 10-10! PAIRS TO SAY 20! (Funny! :D).

And I really like the parts when he gets stuck on a particular word and the red highlight goes forward then back in repitition.

I thought it was pretty funny. And is one of those guys some sort of masochist or something? He just let himself get hit over and over.
And I don't know if anyone else saw this but I though the guy reading the English was a bit fake, like he acted it (great acting if it is) but sometimes he just doesn't seem so real.

That dude was acting wasn't he? It was a game show and the goal was not to laugh at the english illiterate japanese guy.

Even though I think the guy was acting, it was still pretty funny...
Now here's a question that just should be asked in this kind of thread:

'Would you, or would you NOT participate in a game show like this?'

I would not because, hell even if it seems like fun I'd like to keep my ass in one piece.

Wasn't there a game show kinda like this on Comedy Central back in the day? They of course didn't hit people for losing, but people had to sit there and listen to somebody tell jokes for a minute or so, and try not to laugh the whole time. I think it was called "Don't Make Me Laugh" or something like that.

But anyway, I would go on a show like this, depending on what the prize was. If they keep having guys like that one on there, laughing really wouldn't be a concern, I would just need to know if the prize is worth my time.

I don't know what made him think that twenty would be 10-10. That was the funniest part for me.

Yeah, same for me. At first I was just laughing at the guys getting beat with sticks. Then came the "ten-ten-one", and so on, and I found that pretty funny.

It's basically because the Japanese word for twenty is "nijuu" or to put in better perspective, "two ten".

Actually, when he says 100--he counts how many times he says "10" on his hand.

I laughed, but I'm pretty sure if I was facing a caning I could hold it in...it's not THAT funny.

It may be easy if you were by yourself but with like 10 other guys in the room all it takes is one of them to laugh for a domino effect.

I failed not to laugh within the first 20 seconds when the guy in the video tried to pronounce "asked"... The "Venice" got me really good too. The part where I just burst out laughing was counting the numbers, especially 100... lol.

I think it was a lot funnier watching the guys get their asses whipped.
