Your Latest Media Purchase (DVD/CD etc)
Since the board is reborn..
What was the latest media-related product you purchased? Music (CD's/Vinyls), Movies (VHS/DVD/UMD etc) and related things is what counts! No games or computer hardware in here. It's great if you could write a little description about it too. Myself, I bought the Directors Cut version of the korean movie "A Bittersweet Life" yesterday. It comes in a lovely paper cover, and inside is a digipack with two discs. It's an import from Korea, and it wasn't cheap, costed me about $35. Here's a picture on it: http://www.dvdheaven.co.kr/goods_ima...06_005_002.gif (lovely movie by the way) Your turn! |
I ordered the compilation "Radio Malaya" through the mail a few weeks back, saved all of 60 cents from the in-store price (although the fact that it wasn't scheduled to be in stores 'till this month did play a part in my decision). A compilation of Malaysian underground guitar-rock acts, although the vast majority are more on the "indie pop" side of the fence. Still some absolute scorchers (= "hard and fast" tracks) on the album though.
Overall, very good, and paying RM19.30 for it (RM15 for the CD, the rest for stamps and the cost of express delivery and such) was more than worth it. http://img126.imageshack.us/img126/9...laya2if.th.jpg |
I recently bought the CD "The Downward Spiral" by Nine Inch Nails, and I actually like it. The lyrics aren't very good, but the music itself is interesting and well done.

Today, I'm gonna go pick up James Horner's The New World and preorder MGS3: Sustinence |
I recently aquired the Indiana Jones Box Set.
Awesome stuff =D I also bought Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. The plot and the acting may have been a bit thin, but overall it was just one of those great sunday night retro 'classic' style movies. Love it =D I guess I'll count books as well. They ARE a form of media after all. There was a clearance sale, and I bought 5 new books: - Matthew Reilly's Scarecrow - Thomas Harris' Silence of the Lambs - Raymond Benson's The Man with the Red Tattoo (it's a James Bond novel) - Tom Clancy's Net Force Explorers: Shadow of Honor - Tom Clancy's Net Force Explorers: Duel Identity Matthew Reilly's writing style is...interesting. It's very informal and the pace is pretty quick. That's what I got when reading Seven Ancient Wonders... I haven't read any of his other well-known books like Ice Station or Temple, but I actually did enjoy Seven Ancient Wonders. Scarecrow will be interesting once I get around to reading it. I'm reading Ian Fleming's Goldfinger right now. |
newest DVD: Fight Club <- nice movie
newest CD: Starmarket - Song of Songs <- great album ^^ |

The Downfall: Special Edition, which three additional hours of Hitler =D
http://www.buzzflash.com/premiums/05...wnfall_200.jpg |
The movie THREADS, a BBC presentation on what a nuclear attack on England would be like. No sugarcoating, not much dialogue, and intensely emotional nonetheless.
The death toll, the aftermath of the bomb both shorterm and longterm are accounted for, and are all pretty fucking horrific. The crops go to hell, people scrape at the Earth to survive, and the next generation of babies born from babies are mutated thanks to the radioactivity that remains. It's unbelievably realistic and cold - I have a hard time watching it and continuing with my every day life. Amazing what man can to do one another. http://ukcoldwar.simplenet.com/images/threads_dvd.jpg |
I recently bought the Strong Bad Email DVDs 1-4 and the Strong Bad Sings CD. That was the first DVD/CD purchase I had made in almost a year - in fact, the last CD I bought before that was Touched by the Crimson King.
|
Bought Lost season 1 DVD a couple weeks ago. I missed most of the show when it originally aired, so I figured it's time I get caught up. I ended up watching almost the entire season in two days. Just couldn't stop.
The only other media purchase I've made recently was The Residents' Animal Lover way back in January. |
I bought the soundtracks to 'Legend' by Jerry Goldsmith and 'Vertigo' by Bernard Herrmann. I bought both for $8. Goldsmith music was replaced by Tangerien Dream's music. I don't know why, Goldsmith's music is great. Herrmann did a great job (as usual) with 'Vertigo'.

Man, where to start....
DVD's Collateral (2 disc special edition) Family Guy Season 3 Family Guy Presents: Stewie Griffin - The Untold Story Lee Evans - XL Tour 2005 Live Spiderman (2 disc special edition) Die Hard & Die Hard 2 Double Pack (Special Edition) That Peter Kay Thing (2 disc special edition) Games Burnout Revenge I've been on a DVD spending spree over this past month, and I'm pretty pleased with some of the bargains I got. Out of all the DVD's that I've bought recently, Lee Evans has to be the best. The man is fucking hilarious. |
I bought three CDs in one go, then came back for a vinyl.
CDs: Jeff Buckley - Grace Rachel Yamagata - Happenstance Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation Vinyl LP: Godspeed You! Black Emperor - F# A# (Infinity) Have you ever walked out of a record store, then looked at the CDs you bought, and started feeling you were out to prove to someone that you had better taste then them? Check out my previous haul - The Mars Volta - Frances The Mute Pink Floyd - Meddle Joy Division - Closer Fiona Apple - When the Pawn Bob Dylan - Highway 61 Revisited and then, the next week, I grabbed Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Yanqui U.X.O. Like I said, lookin' like I got somethin' to prove. |

Dark City CD: Therion-Deggial Epica-Consign to Oblivion and The Phantom Agony Games: Siren |
Latest CD I purchased "Traditional & Drivin Country Music : Best of John Henry and the Steel Drivin Band"
John Henry Lacasse is my mothers cousin, he and my grandfather "hector" played music together back in the day, infact it was my grandfather who tought him how to play the guitar, anyways, John started up a band, that came to be known today as the steel drivin band, and started playing at clubs and so forth, here in Canada, he made a couple of albums with other bands before, but the steel drivin band was by far his most successful, hes trying to get back in the scene lately, so he's selling cds of his best hits here in Ottawa, he's not well known out of Canada, but just recently he was inducted into the Ottawa Valley Country Hall of Fame, so it might be a lift for his career, hes saving up enough to make it big, so his album hes currently workin on, will be in stores everywhere, atleast up here in Canada. His music is old country, and he has hits like "queen city lady", "look out world" "tenesee waltz" and "stardust lady" on his "best of" album. Im honestly not sure if he'll make it big, par se, but when he does, he'll probably have his newest album out in a store near you by 2008. |
The last time I went to buy cds, which was about 2 weeks ago, I got:
Tenacious D Red Hot Chili Pepper's Greatest Hits Bad Religion- Generator. I find them all to be really good CDs. Of course, Tenacious D is beastly, but I also really enjoy RHCP's greatest hits. |
Already posted about the new games I bought recently in the gaming section's similar thread. However, I just got a bunch of comedy albums, iFUTURELIST and the soundtracks to Shadow the Hedgehog, Tales of Symphonia and The Legend of Zorro...
Not disappointed in the least, all are good selections. As are all the other CDs that have arrived since GFF went down. :) |
Recently I bought lots of CDs in the United States, but those might be too familiar to you all, so this CD is the one that I bought in Japan.
http://www.excite.co.jp/music/store/song/4988002470693/ Koumi Hirose (広瀬香美) is one of the old singers in Japan, and she is also a great singer. She has a unique taste in her singing, so her fans vary a lot(not sure what I'm saying...) Personally, I thought that this CD is one of her best album, so you might want to take a listen in the above page. You can click on the title (below 収録曲), and listen to it. |

Last DVD: RENT Widescreen Special Edition (preordered from Amazon, $15, woo~)
Last CD: RENT OST. ...I'm a fan~ only of the movie so far, though. I haven't had the opportunity to see the stage musical. :/ Last three CDs before that were bought all at once; Kikaider the Animation OST, Fantastic Children OST, and SD Gundam Force OST+. The first was the one I looked forward to the most, but the last ended up being my favorite of the three. I love FC, but much of its music doesn't stand alone very well, to me at least. :o Also, yes, Echo wins for choice of series-buying. :D ~Na-keya |
Got Corpse Bride a couple of days ago. Great music, but way too short, unfortunately.
http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/...CLZZZZZZZ_.jpg Also, Alias Season 3. One of the best shows I've seen in recent years. I'll be getting season 4 soon, hopefully, because I haven't seen that one. http://www.itvmovieclub.com/itv/imag...7863-large.jpg |
I just bought a couple of Criterion releases. Among them the Bergman classic The Virgin Spring. No doubt another near-perfect release by Criterion.
http://www.criterionco.com/content/i...ox_348x490.jpg i like how one has to rely on a foreign dvd production company to put out classic swedish cinema in a way that does it justice. |
I picked up about 2 weeks ago the CD that I had been searching for forever! I know some other people wanted it as well.
Yoko Ishida: All of Me http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/9...allofme0lk.jpg The CD came with a gamecube-sized DVD that had a music vide and a 'making-of' featurette. The art on the actual disc is pretty too. |
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0...CLZZZZZZZ_.jpg
You guys should seriously give this movie a good spin in your DVD players. It's as compelling and gutwrenching as it is actually SCARY. Definitely the best documentary I've seen in recent years. |
Beck - Guero
http://twoday.net/static/txt/images/...0-%20guero.jpg What a great CD, Beck is finally getting back into his old swing of things, some very Odelayesque stuff on this album, the remix cd, Guerolito, is great too... |

The last piece of media I purchased was probably the first two seasons of Arrested Development. I do plan to order one of the Zero 7 albums soon, though.

The Ultimate fighter season 1. Just got it a few minutes ago when I had to make a stop at wal-mart. It was TUF1 or Pride FC 1-5. I still think TUF1 was way better than TUF2.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture 20th Anniversary CD set.
A model for similar expanded relases, with tons of great new music from one of Jerry Goldsmith's best scores. If only they'd do the same for the other nine Trek movies (instead of the useless "Behind Star Trek" CD that came with this package). |
Sin City, God jessica alba is sexy.
|
The Simpsons: Complete Seventh Season
http://timstvshowcase.com/simpsonsdvd7.jpg Oh these episodes are quite the hilarious ones. Now all I have to do is buy seasons 6, 1 and 2. |
I am buying my girlfriend Rent for her birthday today.

I think the last one I bought was the Samurai Jack Season 2 DVD. Man, I can't wait until April... Season 3...

I haven't bought a DVD in ages, but i think my last purchase was Season 2 of Sledge Hammer. Or was it Snatch?

Romantic, mysterious and with the right mix of strings, jazz and cheesy synth. Only had the score a few days, but it's already up there with The Lion in Winter, King Kong and Raise the Titanic as one of my favourite John Barry scores. http://img361.imageshack.us/img361/2...lr390589ix.jpg Kinda reminiscent of Braveheart and, aside from the bird calls (a welcome surprise and a nice gimmick), it's really nothing new from Horner. But there's something about it that really clicked with me when I first heard it so, when I had the chance to get it cheap (for a new CD), I snapped it up. A really good score from Horner. |
Bought Hercules DVD (the Disney movie, not a peplum :D)
|
I recently picked up the Robocop trilogy box-set (I had a gift-card to use :p )
|
I finally got Thumbsucker and Me and You and Everyone We Know, both really fantastic little movies.
Me and You and Everyone We Know has some really good lines in it. |
I bought Robert Duvall's "The Apostle" from eBay last week. it's a great movie about a preacher who attempts to turn his life around after he gets into major trouble.
|
I bought a movie called GAMER it's entirly done in french (with english subtitles thankfuly) and It's about a kid who makes this really cool game and then has it stolen. good movie
|
One of the Sam Goodys around here is going out of business. 40% off of everything! ^^
I limited myself to Franz Ferdinand-You Could Have It So Much Better and The Arcade Fire EP, though depending on my willpower, I might run back out and buy some more stuff later. Of course both albums are bloody good. |
Not sure what my last purchase was but my next one will definately be Firefly Season 1.
http://images.zerocubed.net/fireflycover.jpg |
I got me a bunch of DVDs over the last few weeks:
-Seabiscuit -Spy Game -Steamboy -Thirteen -Born on the fourth of july -The constant gardener -War of the worlds (2005) -Godfather trilogy I saw Born on the fourth of july for the first time yesterday. It was excellent, as expected. I didn't understand Willem Dafoe's character to be honest. He shows up at the end and says "I killed babies in vietnam!" I found this hilarious for some reason. |

Most recent thing I purchased was the Soundtrack to The Hithickers Guide to the Galaxy.
I only really bought it for a few tracks, such as so long and thanks for all the fish, both versions. After listening to the whole CD I relized that it was quite enjoyable. It's not an amazing soundtrack, but it fits the feel of the movie, and its a nice listen for those days when your sick of everything else. |
I wanted that soundtrack...but I dont like to pay money for music...and no torrents ever existed :/
|
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0...CLZZZZZZZ_.jpgAlso managed to order Howl's Moving Castle from overstock.com. For some strange reason none of the stores around here are carrying it... |
My latest DVD was Alias: Season Four ---I simply cannot get enough of this show...it's too bad that they have to cancel it, it's still exciting to me even after watching the episodes over and over again...
My latest CD was the Moody Blues greatest hits...I saw them in concert not too long ago, and I was simply amazed...some of the best music I listen to... |
Chef volume 2 & 3. This is a rather hilarious British comedy, mainly because the chef's behaviour reminds me a lot of the behaviour of my own boss in the kitchen. It's really worth a watch if you're into cooking and humor.
|
I picked up Howl's Moving Castle and My Neighbor Totoro yesterday.
|
I picked up a copy of Lord Of War about an hour ago.
Not sure what to expect from this one, i guess there's only one way to find out. |
I recently just bought two things from Amazon.com. One is 24 episodes of the Super Mario Bros Super Show and seasons 1-6 of the Sanford and Son tv show. When was little I always watched the Super Mario Bros Super Show even though the animation now looks a little bit weird to me but I still can't wait to receive it in the mail. It's going to be released at the end of March. I'm a big TV Land watcher so that's why I got Sanford and Son. Fred and Lamont just have me dying laughing. I recommend watching both of these shows.
|
The last media item I purchased was the latest Mint Royale album, See You in the Morning. I had already downloaded all the tracks from this CD; in fact, I had listened to the song See You in the Morning over a hundred times before I ordered this import from the UK. However, I do think the money was well spent. Downloading music and buying it are entirely different things. Mint Royale deserved the little support I could give.

I just bought Ronin, I really enjoy this movie.
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/63...CLZZZZZZZ_.jpg I have a copy of this movie on VHS but it was getting so damn old and this DVD was so cheap, convertinf from my currency to dollars it would be like US$ 6.00, a complete bargain. |

Bought this cd yesterday. Still haven't got around to listening it since I still haven't got anywhere near tired of the last Dream Theater cd I bought "Train of Thought". |
Just ordered the CD, Angles Without Edges by Yesterday's New Quintet. These guy do a lot of the bump music for Adult Swim.

I picked up two Jet Li movies the other day: Unleashed and Hero.
They were bundled together at a low price. So I went for it. |

That was my last album purchase. It was about three months ago. http://www.foxmovies.com.au/content/...AT-CMYK300.jpg I'd been looking for this season in the traditional 2 cardboard-box sets released in Australia, but the fuckers stopped making them about three years ago and just had them in the Amaray cases. I have all but this season in the boxes - got half from eBay. But this one I couldn't get, so I gave in and bought the shitty slimline version. |
Decided to show the last three items I got.
The first one was: http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0...1.LZZZZZZZ.jpg I don't remember what happened in this movie, so I bought it! It has 17 mins of restored footage too which gave more insight to the characters. The Aliens are the coolest alien critters I've seen. The movie is non-stop action once it goes past the 1 hour mark, and the Queen is one nasty bitch. My current avatar and sig theme was inspired by this movie :3 The one before that was: http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0...1.LZZZZZZZ.jpg A b-movie about werewolves, Dog Soldiers is pretty over the top and cheesy, but it's also funny and the werewolves are pretty cool compared to most other movies I've seen. Werewolves >> vampires. Before that, I got: http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0...1.LZZZZZZZ.jpg It's the DVD box set of the 2nd, third, and fourth Dragon Ball movies. Unfortunately, the first movie is unavailable for release in North America due to copyright issues (darnit!). 2nd and third movies are decent, but the fourth movie is definitely the best of the bunch. This is the first time the 2nd movie has been released in NA too, so it's a worthy purchase for fans. |
I just bought Death Cult Armagedon by Dimmu Borgir. Its ok, but it gets repetitive very fast.
I mainly bought it, because I felt compelled to buy a CD. |
I got the fourth season of 'The X-Files' on DVD this past Thursday for $30. I now have all nine seasons of 'The X-Files'.

I also picked up Dream Theater's Falling Into Infinity. A generally good album. Not as good as their other stuff, but still enjoyable. |
I bought South Park Season 2-3-4-5 this week. I couldn't resist, they were all 20$ each!

Althought the concert was great, these cd's are fun and great to listen to. Some stuff I needed to add in my collection. |
Last week I bought Led Zeppelin - BBC Sessions (CD), Arrested Development Season 2 (DVD), Scrubs Season 1, 2 & 3 (DVD), Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 1 (DVD) and Guitar Wolf - Love Songs (CD).

I recently purchased :
CD : Seal (album #2) Description : Its very different, almost unique, his own style of music, hes very spiritual, as it reflects to most of his songs. Unlike others, many of his songs have meaning, thats not to say others dont. I love his music. My favourite track is of course "kiss from a rose" atleast from this album. He has four albums released thus far, and in time I hope to collect all of them. DVD : Richard Simmons Super Sweating : Party off the Pounds Video : Richard Simmons : Groovin in the House Description : Personally I find Richard Simmons to be a great motivator when it comes to aerobic excercizes. I like his energy, and how he displays it during the workout. Hes full of life, and charisma. I love his dvds and videos, because he makes you want to get out there and sweat those pounds off. He encourages you to follow the amazing workout that he prepares in his videos and dvds. Amazing workout, chart topping music, and an eclectic group of people, jam them all together and you get one hell of a workout on video. |
I just bought Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, but unfortunatly here, in Brazil, there's only the Fullscreen Edition. It comes with the bonus disc but only in fullscreen, but since I bought the original Fullscreen I'll just download the Widescreen.

Yeah, but besides that there really isn't much on the 2nd disc. Content was so minimal you could create a 1:1 image of the disc without compression. :annoyed: There was alot more they've could've put on this disc but I expect it to show up later on HD versions. Oh well. |
I just got myself the first season of Scrubs. :p (A little late...)
In retrospect, the earlier episodes aren't as good as the ones later on, excluding the disappointing new season. However, it's pretty nice to see how the actors evolve over time, as cheesy as that may sound. :D I still am having trouble finding Scrubs fans in real life, as most people said that they saw one episode and decided that they didn't like it. Grr! If you actuall stick to it, you may discover something special and heartwarming about it, aside from its quirky sense of humor. This is imagination gold. I also really like how there's no live audience. YES! I might also add that the cast is excellent, especially during the later episodes, when you really see the actors at their "peak." I really can't see this show with any other set of people. I'm still going crazy over the cute box. :p Now, I'm still trying to get the rest of the seasons, as they are, in my opinion, the best. |
I just picked up Gilmore Girls seasons 1-2 and Veronica Mars season 1 today. Couldn't resist at $23 each!

(Chameleon) http://img283.imageshack.us/img283/1379/jericho4mf.jpg (Walls of Jericho + Helloween LP + Judas) Got these two at Tower Records in New York. They were both labled 13.99 but they only ended up being 9.99 each because of some sale they were having i was unaware of. I didn't have too much extra money, so i decided not to splurge anymore. http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/4...seasons7do.jpg (A Change of Seasons) Picked this one up second hand in a FYE down in Washington. I think it was only about $5 I didn't have a CD player with me on this tour, so i haven't actually heard any of them lol. I've heard select songs off of the two Helloween ones, but that's about it. I'm gonna give them all a listen through tonight. |
I have a quick question: Does this thread cover books (written and comic) as well? I mean, it does just say 'media purchase' in the title, and since the media centre covers books, it would be logical to think that books would be considered media as well. Besides, it would be kinda pointless to have a thread that just covers people's latest book purchases when they could all be encompassed within this thread. I was just wondering.
|
So I recently went CD shopping after cashing in my tax return.
Atheist - Elements I've been looking all over for something by Atheist, finally found a CD! Amon Amarth - Fate of Norns I love Amon, and had to get something of them. Old Man's Child - Revelation 666 The Curse of Damnation I love them as well, I just had In Defiance of Existance. Iced Earth - Days of Purgatory Skin Chamber - Trial I only picked this up because it was a buck. It sort of sounds like industrial rock. It's ok. Worth a dollar? Sure, I wouldn't pay any more than that. |
Picked up a few things today. First off, I got Newsradio Season 3. Damn this a great show (I just finished the seasons 1 & 2 set about a month ago), so I had to get the latest season that was out. Next up, I got Kingdom Hospital: The Entire Series. I've been wanting this for a while, but I've only been able to find the single volume releases up until now (well, I have seen this before, but never when I had any money). Just my luck too, as it was part of a buy one get one free deal at Sam Goody, so I ended up with Seinfeld Volume 1: Seasons 1 & 2 for free. Great fucking deal in my opinion, as this was another show I've been wanting to get for a while, but just never got around to getting. This was about the only other good show on the list anyway (mostly old comedies like The Jeffersons and Good Times, which I don't really care for).
Also, I finally managed to find a copy of the 24 Original Television soundtrack. I already have a burned version of this, but I mainly just wanted this to collect more 24 merchandise (I'm probably not even gonna open it). Also, the reason I asked the question about if we could post book purchases in my last post is because I got this sweet 24 comic (which is simply titled 24). It's the trade paperback edition that contains all three of the previous comics (One Shot, Midnight Sun, and Stories) in one book. I haven't read it yet, but I skimmed through book, and I must say that the artwork is fucking sweet. I did read the first page of the first comic though, and the story seems like it's gonna be interesting, especially since it covers Spoiler:

I ordered Advent Children and Galactic Civilizations 2 tonight. The former was a no-brainer while the decision to purchase the latter was actually very much influenced by the recent StarForce scandal involving it. I'd like to see more games without any medium-related copy protection. And yes, I think I'll also enjoy playing it - a good friend of mine is absolutely hooked and I trust his verdict.

Bought Napalmed / Merzbow - "Crash of the Titans" and a 4-way split tape between Damage Digital, Torture Incident, Extreme Decay and Demisor entitled "Durian Is Food, Grind Is Good". Got both for RM35, and come to think of it I probably could've spent another RM5 and gotten Phobia's "Get Up and Kill".
Both are good albums, although the second Merzbow track off of "Crash of the Titans" is kinda lackluster. |
Let's see, I've recently bought some cd's and a dvd.
Dvd was the Fellowship of the Ring Special Extended Edition, for my new hometheater. Cd's I have bought quite a lot recently, considered that usually I don't buy any cd's. These piqued my interest though: Sonata Arctica's new live cd/dvd pack: For The Sake Of Revenge, Blind Guardian's 2-cd live album: Live (Japan version), Genso Suikoden V OST and Genso Suikoden III OST. And these I bought or ordered in two days, guess I had too much money to waste? :D |
|
Bought a lot of DVD's recently..."too" much actually!
-- Howl's Moving Castle (another Miyazaki masterpiece) -- Kiki's Delivery Service (Was rather curious about this one, since I probably "almost" bought it about a million times....and I'm not disappointed) -- Japanese Story (one of the best movies I've seen in a long time...Toni Collette is absolutely earthshattering in it) -- Samurai Champloo Boxset 1 (region 2 France/Holland) (still have to get into this anime, but so far it has kept my interest well enough, unlike many anime's I've tried out recently) -- Pink Panther 6 disc boxset (I had never seen these classic Clouseau picture's before and I thought it was about time I did...and I love'em!) -- Un Long Dimanche De Fiancailles (Like Amelie, another Jeunet masterpiece) -- I Heart Huckabees (very weird movie...that eventually turned out really rewarding!) -- Ong-Bak (The only one I have yet to see, but I've had enough positive recommendations from people to know for certain that I'll like it) -- The Burbs (an absolute Hanks/Dante classic and an all-time favorite movie of mine) -- A Home At The End Of The World (sweet little drama movie, which could've been better, but I still enjoyed it) -- In Her Shoes (another great Toni Collette movie) -- The Life & Death Of Peter Sellers (Geoffrey Rush is quite spectacular in this movie about Seller's life) -- Animal Factory (Surprisingly good jail movie with Willem Dafoe & Edward Furlong) -- Alf Season 1 Boxset (region 1) (Didn't think I would love it as much as I did when I was a kid, but I actually enjoyed it a lot) All great movies and series, I would recommend them all!!! |

Like other people mentioned, I got FFVII: AC on Tuesday, along with:
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0...1.LZZZZZZZ.jpg I can finally watch the last Godzilla movie. Awesome. |

Last DVD I managed to pick up yesterday was Munich. Not sure how the movie fared overall but been meaning to catch this for sometime now. :eyebrow: http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0...V54150311_.jpg |

The first DT album I've bought, it cost me 43 bucks! (CDN) It was worth it though, it's awesome! The Glass Prison is annoying, because it's the best song on the album and they put it first, which makes the rest of the album a bit dissapointing, at least until Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence(42:04), what an epic musical undertaking! I'm going to buy Octavarium or Train of Thought next probably... |
I just bought Over There (The Complete Series) on DVD for $33. Also, since Target still had the sale going on, I picked up Season 3 of Gilmore Girls for $23.
|
I just bought Bon Jovi - Have a nice day
my brother give me some DJ Tiesto cds as a present. I bought troy and superman animated vol. 1 and 2 |
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children for 15 bucks. Allah bless Fry's.
|
As of today,
Movie: Advent Children CD: DJ Shadow - The Private Press |
I recently bought Pink's new CD 'I'm Not Dead'. Another really good album from her. There is one song on the CD I'm not thrilled with, but I like all of the other songs.
xman25 |
I bought season 1 DVD of the Batman Beyond toon...I loved that show.
|
I bought American Dad: Season 1 the other day. It's from the same people who did Family Guy, and i liked that so I thought that this would be a good buy.
So far it seems to be very similar to Family Guy, but enjoying it all the same. |
Picked this up the other day:
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0...CLZZZZZZZ_.jpg Unlike the initial boxset release a few years ago, I can actually afford the thinpaks. |
Oye..took me forever to get a new copy of Little Miss Red Flowers self titled album..found that at a buy/sell new/used cd store a few miles down the road. Sweet deal.
Also, ordered the Protomen's album..eagerly awaiting my official copy. :) |
Oh yeah, I also picked these up a few days ago:

I just bought the first two seasons of CSI for $20 each at Best Buy. That is a fucking great deal.
I also picked up Big Momma's House: Special Edition for my mom, to give to her for Mother's Day. |
On Saturday I was at Barnes and Nobles, and I decided to go peruse through the classical section.
In my vain efforts to find something by Busoni, I instead found a CD by P.D.Q. Bach. Now, this is actually a composer invented by Peter Schiekele who created all sorts of music parodies and goofy songs. The album specifically was "The Short-Tempered Clavier, and other Dysfunctional Works for Keyboard." I have to say that this was full of great laughs, and for many of them, it wasn't necessary to have any in-depth musical understanding. It was definitely worth the $18. Also, I decided to get a live recording of a Dave Brubeck Jazz combo at the Blue Note. Also definitely worth my $18. |
I recently got Scrubs: Season 2. Slowly, but surely, I'm building up my collection! I actually loved the first season's box better than the second, which was pretty boring. At least there was a cute little fake X-ray film on the cover.
The episodes themselves were pretty good. I'm still bothered by the fact that Elliot and J.D. end up sleeping with just about every good-looking person they happen to meet, but I'm not going to let that ruin it for me. I also picked up Crossfade, and I really regret doing so. There are only a couple songs that I really enjoyed off that CD. |
I got a 2 dvd for $30 sale off my chest at HMV.
Picked up these two sweet Dream Theater DVDs and another guitar related one. G3 Live in Tokyo: http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/3...dvd20054ln.jpg And the 2 Pack: http://img375.imageshack.us/img375/6...t5yialt3zv.jpg |

I picked these up yesterday:
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0...V52611145_.jpg http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0...CLZZZZZZZ_.jpg I haven't opened up the Yeah Yeah Yeahs yet, since I'm not even sure it's worth the money. I just kind of bought it on a whim since I still had some money left over from selling my books back at the end of the semester. |
The last movies I bought were:
Gattaca Crocodile Dundee II The Odd Couple Chain Reaction They were all in the $5.50 rack @ walmart :) |
Got this two days ago, at a nice price:

Just wanted to ask but does anyone really care what you guys've bought?
All I see, posts after posts are people showing other people what they've just bought with rarely any response. Double Post: I was wondering, do any of you guys care what other people bought? Posts after posts I see people showing other people what they've just bought. And rarely does anyone responds to an item that was bought. |
Have you even read the thread? People do respond to people, but it's not like somebody has something to say about every single purchase someone makes. If you don't care about what other people have purchased though, just don't follow the thread. I care though, and I'm sure there are others that do as well. It's just a good way to find out if someone else is a fan of something that you like, and to know what kind of stuff others like as well.
|
There's not even ten responds from the various postings.
Just wanted to ask, I was curious. |

But seriously, it's not like everyone has to be vocal about someone else's purchase. They can just mentally acknowledge that someone else is a fan of something that they like. In fact, I had just did that today with Timberwolf's post, since he bought the second season of 24. I love 24, so now I know that Timberwolf likes it as well. That doesn't mean I have to come in here and be like 'OMFG! U like 24? I like 24 2!' just to acknowledge his post. |
I think people should make better descriptions of the things they get, instead of having people respond to purchases other people make. I'm seeing several posts that just shows a list.
I do realize my last post didn't have much of a description, so here is an expanded one: Godzilla Final Wars I want to collect all the Godzilla movies on DVD, but that's impossible as not all of them are out on DVD. Final Wars is the last Godzilla movie to come out (2004), and there will not be another one for a decade. Unfortunately, Final Wars has too many scenes with the humans in it, and not enough Godzilla fighting action, so that was a disappointment. However, I did enjoy all the monster fights, so I am happy. FFVII AC I got this because a) it's not one of those stupid American CGI movies starring wise-cracking fuzzy woodland creatures. THE END. |
I just bought Rescue Me: The Complete Second Season on DVD today. I have the first season already, but I haven't even watched it yet. I've also never even watched the show on TV, except for one episode that prompted me to buy the set. I figured that since the third season is premiering at the end of this month, I would try to marathon through both of these seasons so that I could watch the third season while it was airing.
|
I ended up with two copies of Advent Children after my birthday, so I went and exchanged one for two other movies:
Phantom of the Opera - I don't usually go in for musicals but this one really intrigued me, and after seeing it at the cinema I resolved to get it as soon as it came out. I didn't count on being so low on cash at the time though... Full Metal Jacket - I'm going through this obsession with war flims and the likes at the moment. I haven't gotten round to watching this yet; I'm far too busy. |
Today I purchased
Futurama: Season 4 I bought this mainly because i already have season 2 + 3, but also because i enjoy this show so much. I can watch it over and over and never get bored of it. Red Hot Chilli Peppers: Stadium Arcadium Been a fan of Red Hot Chilli Peppers for a while now, and when i realised they had a new album out, i had to get it. Only heard the first song "Dani California". Enjoyed that, so i'm hoping the rest is just as good. |
Well, I decided to expand my DVD Empire (200+), and today I purchased:
Pulp Fiction - Watched it and loved it. As Good As It Gets - Enjoyed it. Saving Private Ryan - One of Spielberg's finest. Schindler's List - Well, in my opinion, this is Spielberg's finest. X-Men - Strangely, I have X2, but not the first. An excellent comic-book film. Firefly - I couldn't resist! I never had the chance to watch it when it was on television. After seeing Serenity, I had to fork over my cash and give it a shot. Haven't watched it yet, but I expect great things! |
got harry potter gof yesterday.
its a fun movie.... |
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0...V52611145_.jpg
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0...V53137120_.jpg I'm considering taking RHCP back to Wal-Mart for another copy. It was the last copy on the new release shelf, and there's a huge, deep scratch going across the back of the cardboard case, and a really deep one on the front about a quarter of the way across. It seems like alot of work to go back to Wal-Mart and exchange it just for a new case though... |
Well there's your mistake right there, you got it from Wal-Mart.

And on a side note, the new Tool album sucks. Bad. It makes me wish I would have downloaded it first to give it a try. Undertow had some good songs with alot of filler, Aenima was great, Lateralus was mostly filler with a few GREAT songs, but 10,000 Days is just total garbage. There's not one song I like on it. |
http://grip-inc.freeloadmp3.com/albu...42_200_200.jpg
Probably the best thrash album I've ever heard. |
[QUOTE=Kenichi]http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0...V52611145_.jpg
QUOTE] I bought it too, OMG, most of the songs sound the same! It's really gay, the only songs I really enjoyed were Dani California, Snow(Hey Oh), Torture Me, 21st Century, Hard to Concentrate, and Storm in a Teacup, and out of 28 songs that's pretty bad! |
I recently purchased
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0...V57245085_.jpg Very, very different from their first album, "Office of Strategic Intelligence" (I'm assuming because of Steven Wilson's absence), but I still love it. Kevin Moore's nearly-deadpan vocals are unique and fitting. Some of the songs actually gave me chills. |

Spring-time sales at music stores are always bad news for me.
DVDs 24 Season 2 - It was half price. Half price. I couldn't NOT buy it. Indiana Jones Boxed Set - Been wanting this for some time, but just never got around to buying it. Finally decided to pick it up, take it too the till and find out that it's $20 off. Sweet. Definately my second favourite trilogy of all time (after Star Wars naturally, and just ahead of Back to the Future). Commando - Notorious as Arnold's most violent movie. More than 100 people dead in 88 minutes. Never has 80s action been so bad (and so good). Ocean's Eleven - Again, another one that I've been wanting to buy, but haven't got around too. While Ocean's 12 may be nothing more than some rich people's vacation film, Ocean's 11 is one damn good heist movie. Daredevil Director's Cut - I really don't get why this movie gets all the shit it does. It wasn't that bad. Not half as bad as Fantastic Four. Sure Elektra, Bullseye, and Kingpin are horribly cast. But I'll go on record and say that Affleck did a damn good job with Matt Murdock. And hell, for the $6 I paid for it (go sales), if I watch it once, it's paid for itself. Lion King - Since it's "back in the vault" (fucking Disney) I had to get it second hand from a pawn shop. Case is a little beat up but the DVDs are fine (after a little cleaning). Still my favourite Disney movie ever. CDs Red Hot Chili Peppers - Stadium Arcadium - I like it. I don't love it. I don't hate it. But I like it. While I adore Dani California, I wasn't that impressed with it the first time I heard it. But it's slowly growing on me. I do however wish there was a little more upbeat funk, and little less slower stuff. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magick - For some reason I never actually owned a copy of this. But now this is more like it. Much, much more funky and harder. Easily their best album. |

Sometimes I love HMV's randomness. $36.99 for some random CD. The next week it's $9.99. I almost never buy anything from them that isn't on sale or from the 2/3 for $20/$30 racks, but with that stuff I always get great deals. |
Quote:
I always go in there, looking for deals. The price fluctuates quite a bit -- and like you said, often dramatically. For instance, I remember The Complete Superman Collection being somewhere in the $60 range. And now it's $29.99. And yeah, I also like the two for $30 deals, or three for $30. They now even have three for $20. |
I recently picked up the James Bond film GoldenEye. It was used but still in great condition. $10

X-Men and X2
Only $6 at Best Buy and I didn't have them yet so I thought it was a good time to buy. |

Death Cab for Cutie: Transatlanticism I really just started listening to Death Cab so I bought this album. Right now, I think its better than Plans. 9/10 |

Just got Arrested Development Season 1 on DVD for my brithday. Now I just need to buy Season 2 and pre-order Season 3. Fantastic show that got cut down in its prime. Why can't good TV get good ratings? Moronic public.
|
I bought Seasons 2, 3 and 5 of the X-Files thinpaks last weekend.
I plan to pick up Seasons 4 and 6 soon -- and of course, Seasons 7-9 when they arrive June 6th. Addicted now. |
Quote:
Good!:p I recently bought season 8....even though season 8 and 9 are rather weak seasons in general. I still wanna complete my collection and recently the X-Files DVD boxes have become criminally cheap. (29.99 euro's) I will probably buy season 9 very soon too. Especially because I have never seen the finale episode's! |
Quote:
Tappy, do you buy the newly released thinkpaks? Or the original boxset releases, which were hefty in price? |
Quote:
So I only have the thinpack of season 8. The original boxsets have a less cheaper "feel", but they do take up a bit more space. |
Quote:
Did you start watching the series on DVD like me? Or did you used to watch it on TV? |
I just bought Dir en grey's Withering To Death at FYE last week for 10 bucks. It's their first american release, and even though I have the imported version, for ten bucks to buy it again is worth it, and it shows they have fans here in America. Heh.
|
Quote:
Like in the US, X-Files was a rather big thing in the Netherlands back in 1993/1994....everybody was talking about it in school or at work! Together with Buffy, I guess you could say these are both on my number 1 spot of best tv series ever made! I starting buying the boxsets when they originally arrived on DVD for the first time. Especially the first 3 or 4 seasons were absolutely freakin' expensive. I remember buying the first season for around 120 or 130 euro's. (it was back when we didn't have the euro yet, so I can't remember exactly...it could be even more then 130 euro's). But they were an absolute must-have for me at that time....so I just bought them nevertheless! |
I got Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children yesterday and watched it. Somehow my opinions of movies are always different from those of others, as I really seemed to enjoy it. There's lots of action in the second half of the film too.
|
Jeff Wayne's War Of The Worlds. Awesome album. The ULLA thing is kinda irritating, but other than that I can't see any flaw with it. The first three tracks are the standouts, alongside "Brave New World." I love the voice of the dude who plays the Artilleryman.

"Ice" was a great episode. I was on the edge of my seat. |
Picked up Angels & Airwaves first CD, We Don't Need To Whisper. More anthemic music from Tom DeLonge.

Last CD i bought was Prodigy - Their Law a few months ago.
Last DVD i bought was Chapelle Show Season 1. |
Last CD was Disarmonia Mundi's Nebularium and Fragments of D-Generation. Turns out the download for D-Generation has its tracks mixed.
Last DVD bought was The Professional: Deluxe Edition. |
Porcupine Tree - Up The Downstair
Porcupine Tree - The Sky Moves Sideways Porcupine Tree - Stupid Dream Went on a bit of a spree. I absolutely love Stupid Dream. |
I went and got Oliver & Company today for $12.99. I can't justify spending $30 on Disney movies, so I'm glad I found this for cheap in a used book store. I was going to get The Fox and The Hound for $9.99 as I think it's a better movie than O&C, but it wasn't in widescreen. Pppft.
|
I just bought these on a sale a few weeks ago:
- Comedian - Jerry Seinfeld: Im Telling you for the last time - Hard Way - Men in Black II - The Complete Denis Leary I also recently bought 3 cd's: - Shin Onimusha Original Soundtrack - Chaos Legion Original Soundtrack - Devil Summoner Kuzunoha Raidou vs Choriki Heidan Ongaku Zenshu Original Soundtrack The DVD's are pretty cool to watch and i got them cheap. The CD are so freakin' cool that i decided to buy them. |
Borders had a buy 3 get one free sale on DVDs, so I wound up leaving with more than I expected to. I had only planned on buying The 4400: The Complete Second Season, but after I found out about the sale I had to take advantage of it. My mom was already getting The Big Valley: The First Season on DVD, so I just added that on to my purchases to make that two. Then I saw that The Closer: The Complete First Season was out on DVD, so I picked that up to make three. Finally, I saw The Job: The Complete Series, and decided to make that my last purchase.
Funny thing is, they're supposed to make the lowest priced item the free one, but they didn't. The Closer was $35, making it the lowest priced one, but they instead made The 4400, which cost $40, the free one. It only saved me $5, but five bucks is five bucks. I already have the first season of The 4400, but I've never seen the second season. I figured I would get this so I could watch all of it before the third season airs, which starts next month. I never watched The Closer before, but it looked interesting from the commercials. I figured I would do the same thing with this as I'll do with The 4400: Watch it on DVD so I can watch the next season when it airs on TV (season 2 of The Closer also starts next month). The Job was Denis Leary's show that he made before Rescue Me (which I just got through watching on DVD), so I figured I would give this show a shot. If it's even half as funny as Rescue Me, it'll definitely be a good show. I actually remember watching an episode or two when it first came on TV, and I think I liked it. I also picked up a copy of the first issue of 24: The Official Magazine. It's awesome, except for a few errors in it that I saw. |
The last cd that i bought....Final Fantasy VII Advent children..
My 3 favorites.. FF VII Advent children DVD Blue man group rock tour in denver DVD The G3 live in japan and G3 live in denver DVD's |
:: Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
I wouldn't have picked this up, except a friend was going through the Pink Floyd section and the conversation basically went... "that one's good, thats one's good, that one's good... I saw that building on a history trip" "animals?" "Yeah, that one's good. This one..." "ohhh, Dream Theater covered the title track from that when I saw them." "It's pretty good, I'd buy it." So, I took his advice for ages and I did. I've been meaning to get some PF for ages, now, so here it is. I'm liking it. :: Porcupine Tree - Coma Divine Only just started to spin it, liking the changes to Signify. As in, a lot. This is gonna be a pretty rocking album, methinks. I usually stray away from live albums (I'm more of a DVD man myself - I used to get both, but then I realised I didn't have much money), but it's supposedly in the top five live prog albums, according to Progarchives.com, so I thought "what the hell, I already have Warszawa, I'll get it next time I'm in town." Not disappointed so far. |
Disturbed - Ten Thousand Fists
After near-constant play on Need for Speed: Most Wanted of the track Decadence I decided to go out and buy this album. Damn EA, and their EA tracks. From what i've heard so far, it's pretty good though. Avenged Sevenfold - Sounding The Seventh Trumpet Again, damn EA and their stupid EA tracks. Blinded In Chains was the pursuasive track this time. Pity i couldn't find the album with it on. So i settled for this one. Not listened to it yet. |
Just bought "The Beyond" on dvd, fucked up movie =]
|
Today I bought: 1) 'Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith'. For some reason it took me six to seven months to get this one. I have all of the 'Star Wars' movies. 2) 'P!nk - Live in Europe' DVD. Just came out. This covers her 2004 'Try This' Tour in Europe. I haven't been to one of Pink's concerts, so this will be fun to watch. I think she comes to Houston sometime this year. 3) 'Alien Resurrection' soundtrack. I've been looking for this for a long time. I now have music to all of the 'Alien' movies.
xman25 |
Just bought Saw II, Serenity, Land Of The Dead & Domino!
I've seen Saw II and Land Of The Dead...and both were decent. Saw II began good, but became weaker and weaker towards the end and Land Of The Dead was enjoyable, but somehow not upto par with Romero's other "Dead" movies! |
I bought Kingdom of Heaven and Memento. Kingdom of Heaven was a pretty good movie although it was nowhere in the same league as Gladiator. Still, I think Ridley Scott did a pretty good job on that movie.
As for Memento, I first saw this in English class of my senior year 2 years ago but we never got to finish watching it. By this time I forgot the entire layout of the story so it's probably a good time to watch it again and actually finish this time. |
Armor For Sleep - A Comprehensive Guide To Touring (DVD)
Tool - Aenima The Mars Volta - Frances The Mute Coheed And Cambria - Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV Reel Big Fish - Turn The Radio Off Goldfinger - Hang-ups Phantom Planet - The Guest |
My lastest DVD purchase would have to be Dragon: The Bruce Lee story.
Always liked it for the soundtrack and just the total presentation the of the movie. |
I bought
Final Fantasy: Advent Children - I watched part of it a while back, but never had the chance to see the whole of it. From what i saw back then it looked really good, and I was one of the many people who also liked the game. I thought that it would be good to see and hear all the characters again. Watched the trailers on the second disc, looks like i won't be disappointed. :) X-Files: Season 1 - I liked the early seasons of this, and decided that it was about time i got round to getting this. |
Dirty Pretty Things, My Fellow Americans, Amelie, Anchorman, Collateral, Flight Of The Phoenix, Sideways, and The Aviator all for $4 each and Capote, Jarhead, Good Night, And Good Luck., and A History of Violence for $10 each.
So many more DVDs to buy, I've become an addict like so many others. I also bought the entire Fawlty Towers series on VHS for $12. |
At last I bought Star Wars Trilogy. I've been looking this box quite a time now, and decided finally to buy it.
I also ordered FFXII Limited Edition OST from Play-Asia today. I should never look any kinds of online shops when I don't have much money... |
I went on a spree again!
Let's see: -- Hitchock Tinpack Boxset (includes Strangers On A Train, Dial M For Murder and several other Hitchcock movies) ~So far I've seen Strangers On A Train....and I loved it. It's the first black & white Hitchcock I've seen and it was just as good as any of the later "color" movies (Vertigo, North by Northwest) -- The Woodsman ~ Pretty downbeat movie, but nevertheless a pretty good performance by Kevin Bacon. (and with a rather taboo-ish subject matter, which is I always find interesting) -- Airplane ~ Hadn't seen it in a long time, so I thought it was about time I bought it. Definitely a classic! -- Being There ~ I learned about this movie when watching some of the Peter Sellers documentaries (and the movie with Geoffrey Rush) and it seemed like a pretty entriqueing movie! -- Roujin Z ~ I wanted to get this anime movie on DVD for a while now, because I absolutely love it to pieces. It so much better then all the anime nonsense of recent times. -- X-Files Season 9 ~ I finally have the complete X-Files series now...Yippy!:p -- Stir Of Echoes ~ Heard this was a good movie and I bought it because Bacon is also in it. |

Let's see, this box also includes: The Wrong Man, I Confess & Stage Fright. And it includes 2 versions of Strangers On A Train.....the original version and the remastered longer version. I haven't seen the other movies yet, but I'll probably begin with Dial M For Murder next (since it includes Grace Kelly and I loved her in Rear Window!). Quote:
They are still so cheap, that I couldn't resist. This is also the series that includes Lucy Lawless, so that was also an incentive for me to buy it. How far are you into the series right now? Any absolute fave episode's? (except for "ice") |
Finally got around to picking up seasons 5 and 6 of The Simpsons now that Woolworths have got them on offer.
Also received the R1 2 discer of Munich in the post although have yet to check out the extras (R2 has nothing more than a making of and a intro by Spielberg |
This week I got Saint Seiya: Hades Vol 1 and Lost: The Complete 1st Season, which was loooong overdue (I had to get all 4 available seasons of Alias first).

Picked up the Boondock Saints & Garden State DVD's yesterday. 'Saints' has always been a guilty pleasure, and Natalie Portman is just too adorable in 'Garden State' to pass up. Besides, they were both super cheap.
|
I went a little nuts the past week.
Jaws 30th Anniversary Edition - I love Jaws. I absolutely adore this movie, and Best Buy had the 2 disc special edition for $15 so I had to pick it up. Reservoir Dogs Tenth Anniversary Edition - Still the best Tarantino movie. Better than Kill Bill, better than Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown. Again, got this in a two for $30 deal with... Apollo 13 2 disc Anniversary Editon - Always enjoyed it, probably my second favourite Tom Hanks movie (behind Forrest Gump). Caddyshack - Four dollars. I got the 20th aniversary Caddyshack for four dollars. I couldn't NOT buy it. The Shining - Again, a great deal. This one for eight bucks. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Predator Special Editon - Get to the choppa! Part 1 of 3 for $30. Speed Collectors Edition - Pop quiz hotshot! Part 2 of 3 for $30. Aliens Special Editon - Nuke it from orbit, it's the only way to be sure. Part 3 of 3 for $30. Aladdin - My second favourite Disney movie. Gotta snatch it up before it goes back in the vault. Like... Fantasia 2000 - Found a still sealed copy at a flea market of this. Since it has gone "back in the vault" and probably won't see a release for quite some time, I had to grab it. I'm not telling you what I paid for it. Toy Story - While 2 is good, the first one is still the best. Maybe my third favourite Tom Hanks movie. The Usual Suspects - Been looking for a reasonably priced copy for quite some time. HMV had it for $36. Found it at Best Buy for $21. Had to buy it. Kobayashi. Jesus christ. I've bought 12 DVDs in the past few weeks. Im buying them faster than I'm watching them. |

I just finished watching Season 1 last night. And I am completely hooked to the series. I love the whole sci-fi, conspiracy, unexplained phenomenon, etc. Let's see ... other than "Ice," I really liked the two Eugene Victor Tooms episodes ("Squeeze" and "Tooms"), which had me on the edge of my seat. My other favourite episodes are "Deep Throat", "EBE", "Fallen Angel", "Darkness Falls", and of course the Pilot and the season finale "The Erlenmeyer Flask" were great too. I'm a sucker for the UFO ones :p |
Just this past weekend I managed to get my hands on Boston Legal Season 1. Quite entertaining. :)

I picked up:
Disturbed - Believe I bought Decadence not so long ago and thought that it was quite good. So i went out and bought this, plus is was on sale. WhiteSnake - Best Of I like some of their songs and when i saw that this was also on sale i couldn't resist. |

The last thing I bought was the Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children OST.
I know--lame and a short list, but... Bills take precedence..... |

Metal Gear Sage Vol.1 - I know that it was added to MGS3:SUB but it's not out in EUR. My friend bought me it and send to Poland. Many new in formations about my favorite MGS and all other games. Only thing that sux is that DVD is in NTSC and even my mod-chip PAL converter is not converting it... need to watch it on other TV. |
Recently I bought a Therio CD - Live In Midgard,it's a great album.
And Now I'm waitin' for the celebrators of becoming Box !! |
Celebrators of Becoming kicks ass, apparently... I should order it sometime.
I bought In Flames' Clayman album today. |
I recently bought these DVD movies : Hitch, 40 year old virgin, Casper, and Sandlot
|
Serenity...it was a bad movie, if anyone is thinking of getting it, DON'T!!! i was watching the DVD and i slept in the middle of it as much it is boring!!! and i didn't understand if it had a point coz the big secret was like a really stupid thing! so that is a DVD i regret getting!
Double Post: i also rented the movie Wolf Creek which is another bad movie. it was suposed to be the SCARIEST movie of the eyar, but all it was 1 hour of boredom and then 30 mins of sick bloody scenes that are not scary but disgusting! |

|
no i haven't watched that show. the first time i hear about it.
|
Well, you can read up about it here.
But yeah, basically it's the show that the movie is a sequel of. It shows you how all the characters met and it just really makes more sense if you watch it before you watch Serenity. |
that's good to know. will check it.
Double Post: well as i see it, after the BIG BIG BIG success of Buffy and Angel, i expected from Whedon a movie of that calibar! |
I just got season 1 of The Shield on DVD this week, since Best Buy was selling it for only $20. This is a great show that I had planned on collecting sooner or later, so for this price I figured I would start now.
|
Ordered the new Frontline Assembly and Clan of Xxymox. They don't come out for a week yet, but at least I'll get them right away.
|
Jarhead...It's a nice movie, has a good meaning, shot in a weird way, a new way that make you feel how tough military life is. It's a nice movie to be watched once at home, not more. Yet it could have been a little bit faster since it was too slow!
|
Aeon Flux - The Complete Animated Series - Looks quite good, and i've been meaning to pick this one up for a while now. Besides it was cheaper than the awful live-action Charlize Theron effort.
Nightwish - End Of An Era (2CD) - Been a fan of their's for a few months now, and decided that it was about time that i had this CD of their's. Not listened to it yet, but has a good collection of songs on it, so it shouldn't be too bad. Underworld Evolution - KATE BECKINSALE. Enough said :) |
I picked up a few things over the last few days. On Friday, I found these cheap DVDs of this show I never heard of called Starhunter. Apparently it's some kind of Canadian show or something. Wal-Mart had two volumes of this, which contains fifteen episodes (I have no idea if it's the first fifteen episodes, as they don't seem to be in order) of the series. I then found out that no volume 3 has even been released, and considering how old these releases are, may never actually be released. Oh well, they only cost $3 each, so it's noot like I'm out a lot of money.
Yesterday, I found the first volume of Futurama at Wal-Mart (I really don't go there as often as this post may imply) for $20. They had volume two there for $20 as well, but I decided to get that later. And today, I got Season 1 of The Man Show at Best Buy for $20. This was both volumes 1 & 2 packaged together as one set, so this was a fucking steal, since each volume was priced at $30 when they first came out. They had the rest of the seasons for $20 as well, so I may have to go back and get those later. |
Well, during our 4-hour flight delay at the airport I ended up buying the new Perfect Dark Zero book, Initial Vector. Interesting story so far. :)
|
Just won an auction for this:
http://image.listen.com/img/170x170/...55_170x170.jpg Dungen - Ta Det Lugnt "Take it Easy" Swedish rock band, sounds promising. And I couldn't find a working torrent/download of it anywhere. Only cost $6, so I figured it would be worth it to have the real thing. Plus, when I actually buy a CD, I actually listen to it much sooner than with downloads :). |
A friend made me a goodbye for grad present. It was an mp3 CD containing 4 Sonata Arctica Albums, Ecliptica, Silence, Reckoning Night, and Songs of Silence. There were a number of SA singles and EPs on there too. He also included both Liquid Tension Experiment albums, but each are missing two songs. So far so good, i'm enjoying all of them.
|
Won my other auction, for this:
http://cdbaby.com/covers/g/e/geoffberner.jpg Geoff Berner - Whiskey Rabbi Hilarious [almost] one-man band from Canada...he was the opening act for Kaizers Orchestra on their Evig Pint tour. Basically he wants to revive Jewish Klezmer music, but with his own comedic twists. He playes accordion, has a violinist, and drinks while playing. It's quite amusing, actually. And this disc only cost about $4.51. $.01 auction!! ;) |
I bought the Gnarls Barkley cd off of itunes
|
Shadow Hearts: The Covenent...PS2 Game, didn't get to play it yet.
The Inside Man DVD: The worst Densel Washington movie. It was decent, yet too long, but i liked how Spoiler:
|
I bought the third season of 'The Pretender' on DVD for $15 at Best Buy. Best Buy is having a Fourth of July sale. I already have the first two seasons on DVD. I'll get the fourth season when it comes out.
xman25 |
Wonder Showzen the complete first season (DVD), the best television show there has ever been (close contenders: the prisoner, twin peaks, futurama, the simpsons, arrested development)
Orchestra of Bubbles (CD) techno music that doesn't suck, probably because it was largely composed by Sacha Ring aka Apparat |
Justice League: Season Two - Because really, DC animation rocks. And Justice League is probably the best of the bunch.
Fast Times at Ridgemont High: Totally Awesome Edition - I really don't know why I didnt already own this. Saw it on sale at Best Buy and had to pick it up. Phoebe Cates FTW. GoodFellas Special Editon - Amazing mobster movie. Definately one of my favourites. Shaun of the Dead - Another one that I was surprised not to own. You've got red on you. |
Stadium Arcadium.
'nuff said. |
I bought some Jacky Cheung karaoke VCDs whilst I was in holiday. I love that man.
|
Naruto: Ultimate Ninja for the PS2. Next, it'll be a Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth.
|
i bought Crash on dvd a few days ago and believe me, the plot of the movie was sooo awesome. I really cant deny it was a masterpiece.
|
Went to Best Buy today and picked up the first three seasons of The Pretender for $15 each, and the Doctor Who: The Complete First Series for $66.
Never seen The Pretender, so I decided to do a little reading up on it first. It seemed interesting enough, so I decided it was worth a blind purchase of the first three seasons at that price. Even if I don't like it (which I doubt), $45 isn't out too much money, and I can probably find someone who likes it to give it to as a gift. As for Doctor Who, I spent way too much money for it (the only TV DVD set that I've bought that has cost more than that is La Femme Nikita season 1, which was like $80), but I know it'll be worth it. I watched the first two episodes when it premiered on the Sci Fi channel a few months ago, but after that I stopped watching when I found out it was edited. I heard that the DVD release was on July 4th, so I knew I wouldn't have to wait that long to see the rest of the episodes anyway. I may get some more seasons of Seinfeld, since Target is selling them for $20 each this week. I've already spent so much though (with tax, the total was two cents shy of $120), and I plan on buying ER season 5 next week and Curb Your Enthusiasm season 5, so I may have to pass on these. |
Iron Giant for $13 AU. Score, no?
|
Today I bought ER Season 5, which I've been waiting forever to get, and the first two seasons of Reno 911! on DVD.
ER is like the best show that I've discovered from watching TV shows on DVD. I picked up the first season on a whim one day, as I saw it was cheap at Wal-Mart. After about a month or so, I started watching it, and it was fucking great! By the time I had finished it (it only took me about three weeks to watch all the episodes), I had found out that season 4 was about to come out. Because of this, Circuit City put the first three seasons on sale for $20, so I used this oppurtunity to pick up seasons 2 and 3 on the cheap, and I also managed to get season 4 that same week. I finished all of those episodes in a little over a month, so since about January I've been waiting for more of this show to be released on DVD. Season 5 just came out today, so I bought it as soon as I could! Reno 911! is a little different. I remember watching some of this show back when it first came on, and I thought it was pretty stupid. A couple of years later, I watched some more of this show, and I thought it was fucking hilarious! I don't know if my taste changed, or if I just caught a bad episode, but now I figure I like this show enough to give it a chance on DVD. Since season 3 came out this week, Circuit City was selling the first two season for $18 each. I figured I would just get these two sets for now, make sure I like them, and then get season 3 sometime later. |
When I was at the coast we went into a Goodwill (they have really good used/consignment shops there), and I picked up this for $1:
http://mclub.te.net.ua/images/alb/cover4169_24043.jpg Presidents of the United States of America Popllama records/Columbia 1995 I never really had a burning desire to own the source of the songs "Lump" or "Peaches," but I figured for $1 how much could I hate it? And you know what, I kinda like it. Makes me think of what would have happened if Phoebe from Friends had actually made an album. And it brings back memories from Middle School ;_;. |
All That Remains - Behind Silence and Solitude
All That Remains - The Fall of Ideals I preordered the Fall of Ideals and got a shirt, two posters and their first album. It finally arrived in the mail today. |
Finally broke down and bought 'Snatch' on DVD yesterday. I was wearing out Hollywood Video's copy.
|
Planning on buying an Ulver - Blood Inside vinyl.
|
I bought Nirvana's Nevermind at Target the other day for $10. I've read reat things about it, and while it doesn't meet my expectations, it is a pretty good CD.
|
I just bought The Pretender: The Complete Fourth Season at Target today for $29.99 (along with a free $5 gift card). I watched the first episode last night, and I really liked it, so I figured I would just go ahead and get the last season to finish off my collection (since I had just bought Seasons 1-3 a couple of weeks ago). Of course, there's still the TV movies, but I'm sure they'll release those eventually.
|
I bought the second season of 'Millennium' on DVD today for $33 at Best Buy. The store brought the price down to $33 on all three seasons. They use to be $50. I now have all three seasons on DVD.

Nothing has arrived yet, but it's on its way :) |
Wow, I've gotten a lot of stuff since my last post.
Animaniacs: Volume 1- Definitely one of my favorite cartoons as a kid, I imagine it's still as good now as it was then (or possibly even better, now that I'll probably get all the adult innuendo now). The Boondocks: Season 1- Hands down my favorite show on Adult Swim, I've been wanting this ever since the firs season ended. Rewatching the episodes is good enough, but getting to see them uncensored will be even better. Chappelle's Show: The Lost Episodes- I only saw the first episode on TV, so I figured I would just get the DVD to see the other two. Even if I had seen them, I probably would have gotten just for collection's sake (it was only $12 anyway). Curb Your Enthusiasm: Season 5- Just bought this yesterday. I definitely have been waiting a while to see these episodes (I only collect this show on DVD, since I don't have HBO), as this is one of the funniest shows on TV right now (not to mention ever). La Femme Nikita: Seasons 2 and 3- Ever since I finished season 1, I've been wanting to see more of this great show. The only problem had always been that the show was so expensive, usually around $80 a season (though the MSRP of each season was $100). Luckily, since season 4 was coming out last week, Best Buy decided to sell the first three seasons for only $38 each. This was definitely a deal I had to take advantage of, so I quickly grabbed up seasons 2 and 3 (season 4 was new though, so they were selling it for $65). Unfortunately, the packaging on my season 2 set was loose (one of the trays that holds the discs was completely separated from the spine, and the other two were loose), so I had to exchange it for another one. For that kind of deal though, a little extra hassle like that was nothing (I would have been thoroughly pissed, however, if this had happened to something that I paid full price for). Mind of Mencia: Season 1- I saw a couple of episodes of this on TV back when it first came on, and it was pretty funny. Target was selling it for $10, so I figured I would get it so I could see the rest of the episodes and rewatch the ones I already saw. Reno 911!: Season 3- Best Buy had a deal going on with Chappelle's Show: The Lost Episodes, that when you buy it you get $5 off the purchase of some other Comedy Central shows. Since I had just got the first two seasons a few weeks prior, I figured I would get season 3 with this deal. It was already on sale for $20, but with the deal I managed to get it for $15. Robot Chicken: Season 1- The second funniest show on Adult Swim. I've been saying for a while that I would get this (just like another show, Drawn Together), but I just never had. Target had it going for $20, so I just got it. |
After seeing Miami Vice on the theater, I dropped by the DVD store and got Azumi. I've just seen the first 40 minutes or so. Quite entertaining.
Really considering the purchase of The Descent, since I saw it somewhere at a pretty fair price. |
I honestly can't remember the last media purchase I've made. I've made a lot of media acquisitions, but no purchases that I can remember.
|
I finally received my Infernal Affairs Trilogy limited edition box set (the version with 8 dvd). Yesasia finally stocked more of these so I could get it before it sold out again.
|
I just got the "Better Than Sliced Beats" and new "Chroma" albums from friend and fellow Maryland Alum '06, SGX (http://sgxmusic.com). Signed the CDs to "Naz" too just so I can say so when he makes it big one day. Freaking awesome electronic music.
|
Kill Bill vol. 1 and 2 for $18 bucks. I was going to wait for the nodoubt-going-to-be-announced-tommorow-because-I-bought-the-standard-edition-DVD's set, but for both movies for so cheap, I had to take it.
Matrix: Revolutions - While it's easily my least liked of the trilogy, I do already own the other two and felt I needed to complete the collection. Add to that it was only 8 bucks. Hey, atleast the Neo/Smith fight is pretty cool. Metallica - Kill 'em All - Don't own it for some reason, and it was on sale. Ramones - Greatest Hits - Same sale as Metallica. V for Vendetta Special Edition - I enjoyed it in theaters, and it as worht a purchase. |
I just bought Prison Break Season 1 at Best Buy today for $40. I was really undecided on whether to buy it at Best Buy or Target, since they both had different bonus disc with the set, but ultimately I chose Best Buy because their disc seemed better and it was cheaper there (just by a dollar, but still).
Basically the only reason I got it today was to make sure I got one of the bonus discs. I don't really need to watch the season again, as I pretty much remember everything that happened (it just had its season finale less than three months ago), but I may just quickly watch it again anyway since I'm not watching any other set right now (I just finished ER season 5 last night). |
I finally received computerjockeys' "Plankton".
It's a damn good chill-out-electric-music CD with a lot of Asian influences. Furthermore tracks like "My Golden Boy" or "B'come" were the German openings for Golden Boy and LUPINIII anime-series [not the album-version - yeah...mmh] - check them out at youtube.com ;) So, if you're ought for some chilling during a nice summer rain - be sure to listen to this great CD. Check German Amazon.de-link for some samples =D If you're interested... buy it on amazon.de or ...mh... ask me for mp3~ ... or I'll just add some more review and add it on the GFF Music Exposure Club FTP ;) |
My latest is Munich the movie, next it's gonna be V For Vendetta and two Dream Theater DVDs.
|
After taking my trig final and went and picked up the latest release by Breaking Benjamin - Phobia.
Their sound hasn't changed too much, but their single "Diary Of Jane" sounds a lot like So Cold from their previous album. It's still good though. |
My last purchase was a record of Haggard called Awaking The Centuries. I really like it. If i had to describe their music, I'd say "Deathmetal meets Classical music"
30 seconds of Heavenly Damnation :edgarrock: for more info just visit www.haggard.de . You'll find soundfiles of their CDs there like the one I've posted. |
I finally found a copy of Blackwater Park by Opeth, something I have been trying to find for ages, and what's even better is it was in a special offer with other "non-chart" CD's, so I picked up Dream Theatre's Awake.
I'm so happy I'm a bargin hunter ^_^ |
Quote:
Myself, I got these yesterday: Tool - 10,000 Days Sigur Rós - ( ) Sigur Rós - Takk Sigur Rós - Agaetis Byrjun |
Gnarles Barkley - St. Elsewhere
Christina Aguilera (I know....) - Back To Basics Etta James - At Last (absolutely wonderful album) |
All 5 of Cyndi Wang's music album.
|
Yesterday I got The Simpsons: The Complete Seventh Season (the one with the Marge head packaging).
|
I just placed an order on these CD's:
Tiger Lou - The Loyal Tool - Lateralus Opeth - Damnation Will show up on tuesday \o/. I still need to get Stadium Arcadium by RHCP and Placebo's Meds though.. |
The last DVD I have purchased was Charles Bukowski - Born Into This. It is a biography of who Henry Charles Bukowski Jr. was, and also exposes the movie Barfly for what a flop it was.
I don't purchase too much music as I have friends in the music industry that mail me music to play at parties to promote them. |
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0...V63539243_.jpg
Recently went to an Under the Influence of Giants concert, where they were selling their CD a day before the release. Picked one up, got it autographed, was happy. It's good music but I think in the classic timeline of pop music where it's REALLY GOOD REALLY GOOD ZOMG then fuck turn it off because you're so burned off it. |
Who Framed Roger Rabbit on DVD
and soon to come through the post the FFVII film. Yay. |
Just picked up a couple guitar albums--Steve Morse's "Prime Cuts" and "Hell III" from the Hellecasters. They're just as good as I expected. I also got Jaga Jazzist's "The Stix", which I haven't spent much time with yet.
|
Spiderman II <3
Kinda late, but I got a new Huge widescreen TV with surround sound, so I just had to... I love the sound of Spiderman squirting his web all over the walls... and Kirsten climbing on it at the end... in Widescreen. :O |
Quote:
I also got the dubbed War of The Monsters too for a dollar. It's one of the Gamera movies, whom I hear is a competitor for Godzilla, and I heart Godzilla. Gamera is a rampaging atomic turtle who, like Godzilla, was bad at first and then turned good. That's all I know about Gamera! |
I purchased all of these in the same week a while back.
Shakira- Pies Descalzos Lisa Marie Presley- Now What. Red Hot Chili Peppers-Stadium Arcadium No Doubt- Everything in Time Gloria Trevi-Como Nace El Universo Double Post: Oh! And a classical guitar and Vivaldi pieces cd. |
Quote:
|
I haven't seen War of the Monsters yet. I've no time to be watching movies on the weekdays. I've no idea what to expect from it, as I've never seen a Gamera movie before.
I've heard many good things about the Gamera trilogy, but I've never seen it in stores. I'm assuming it's JPN only? |
Simpsons Season 8 - Most likely going to be the last Simpsons boxed set that I buy. The last great season was 7, with 8 being alright but already starting to slip a little bit. 9 is where it started to go south. Still though, some gems on this one. Homer vs the Eighteenth Amedment and The Brother From Another Series really stand out.
Best Buy also didn't have any Animaniacs, and thus I was very displeased. |

There's Best Buys here but they don't carry it. We have no Suncoasts in Canada. Unfortunately, I can never find lots of movies I want on DVD here, so I usually have to order through Amazon.ca to get them. However, I don't really want to spend $20 on movies that I've never seen, for fear that I may end up hating it and wasting my money. Perhaps if you know a way to DL the movies first, I can check them out myself before deciding to buy them.
P.S. Amazon has the Gamera: Ultimate Collection for 8.99, and it has War of the Monsters, Destroy All Planets and Gamera the Invincible (dubbed only). |
Went to CD Warehouse (which recently expanded from all used CD's to include some new indie releases) and bought copies of Tapes 'n Tapes's The Loon and Broken Social Scene's You Forgot It In People. I heard a couple of tracks off of The Loon on Sirius radio earlier this year, and I've been searching for the actual album since. I don't have a good excuse for waiting four years to buy You Forgot It In People.
Buying those two CD's earned me a free used one, so I bought a copy of Debut by Björk on a whim, and hey, it's really nice too...it's kind of weird, but that's part of the appeal, I think. I should learn to order obscure things off of Amazon instead of running around searching for them locally. |
Bought the The O.C. season 1 DVD.
|
I recently bought the CD "The Downward Spiral" by Nine Inch Nails, and I actually like it. The lyrics aren't very good, but the music itself is interesting and well done.
|
An unexpected bonus of moving to Iowa City is that I now live about four blocks away from a music store. They have some used selection, and a lot of new indie albums. Tons of records, too...almost makes me wish I had a turntable.
I bought new copies of Moon Pix and Illinois, a used copy of Guero, and barely managed to resist buying a couple hundred dollars of stuff. |
http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/...V65584124_.jpg
Purchased House Season 2, finally anamorphic widescreen transfer. :) |
I went shopping with a friend and I got few DVDs:
- SIlent Hill (Widescreen edition) - Batman Volume 4 (I thought I had it, turns out I NOW HAVE IT XD) - Art of the Devil 2 (saw that creepy movie at Fantasia Festival last month. good shit) - Legend of Mystical Ninja Complete Series thinpak edition (So funny how it sucks. GOOOOOOOOOO IMPACT!!) I was going to buy Azumanga Daioh Complete Box thinpak edition, but my friend got the last copy off the shelf before me. The bastard. Hitting him with a shovel didn't help much. |
Finally got my order from amazon; I bought the first Dresden Dolls album. Well, I have to say it's totally worth the wait ^_^
|
Deadsy - Phantasmagore
Been waiting on this CD for 3 long years. It was worth every second. They have moved away from theyre synth heavy roots, but they still retain that Deadsy sound I fell in love with. |
The Simpsons's complete first seaons. 18$ is a real bargain! Unfortunately, the dubbing was done in France, and as always, they have NO sense of translation. Homer sounds more retarded, Marge has a high-pitch voice, and Bart sounds 5. Fortunately, I can udnerstand english
|
I bought Patlabor 2 Limited Edition last week.
|
Just ordered this yesterday, should arrive in a week :)

Boy I love it when a studio decides to put a bunch of its titles on sale! This time it was Warner Bros., who had a lot of titles on sale for less than $20.
First up is Entourage: The Complete First Season. Never seen the show before (don't have HBO, so all of their shows that I've seen have been on DVD, the only other show being Curb Your Enthusiasm), but it sounds good from what I've heard about it. And for the price, it's not like I'll be out a lot if I don't like it (though for the record, I've bought a lot of shows I've never seen before on DVD, and I've liked every one of them so far). Next is Gilmore Girls: The Complete Fourth Season and The Complete Fifth Season. I already have the first three seasons on DVD (which I also bought during a sale like this), so getting these two sets was a no brainer. Now I just need to actually find the time to sit down and watch all these (I've never seen the show straight through from the beginning, which is why I've been getting the DVDs). Finally, I bought Nip/Tuck: The Complete First Season and The Complete Second Season. I remember watching this show when it first came on, but even though it was interesting, I could never completely get into it due to other outside factors (missing some scenes or entire episodes). Now that I have it on DVD and can watch it on my own time, I should be able to really get in to it. My DVD shelf weeps ;_; EDIT: Oh, I forgot that I also bought Storm of the Century for $5 at Wal-Mart. I love that mini-series, so I didn't hesitate to get it for that cheap. |
Just bought mc chris' latest album off Itunes. My first itunes purchase ever, and probably the last. The album isn't great, but its not bad, so no complaints on that.
Went to the horror convention last weekend..picked up a couple bootlegs. Hell Goes To Frogtown, starring Rowdy Roddy Piper as Sam Hell. Hilarious b-movie about Roddy Piper being one of the only men on earth that can still get women pregnant. Heh. Decoys. Another b-movie filled with cliches, nudity, and alien women that rape men and use them to hatch children. So bad its good. Puffy AmiYumi - Splurge Saw them in concert a whiles back, and picked this up before it was released..pretty good stuff. Doctor Who: 2006. Bought Thursday's "A City by the Light Divided" recently. Pretty good album, I'm liking it quite a bit. |
Picked up another pair of CD's today; Fear Factory's Demanufacture along with The Smiths Hatful of Hollow. Neither have failed to please so far...
|
I think I want this: ****://***.realmdekor.com/products/accessories/randomCD.htm
For now, "Modern Times" by Bob Dylan. |
I just picked up My Name Is Earl Season One: Good Karma Deluxe DVD Set today. I've never even seen thre show, but I had a coupon for $5 off coupon for it that came with my Prison Break set, and I had a $20 gift certificate for Best Buy, so I only had to pay $8 for it. I've heard good things about it, so I figured it was worth it.
The version I got is pretty spiffy, too. The outside box is windowed, which shows the special flannel shirt covering that goes over the regular set. Inside the box was a Best Buy exclusive bonus disc along with the regular set and flannel covering. I almost didn't get it at first, because I'm not really much into special packaging (mainly because it takes up more shelf space, which I'm having problems with at the moment), but I figured I would since it cost the same price as the regualar set, and it was the only way to get the bonus disc. Overall, I definitely don't regret getting it, as I think it's pretty cool. |
I got this:
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b8...frontcover.jpg Every Godzilla and/or monster fan should buy this immediately. The packaging is very nice, complete with awesome holofoil. This is the first time the movie has come out here in the original Japanese language, so what are you waiting for? |
I bought Sunseth Midnight's debut album.
They are here from Brazil and play great 'glam' gothic rock/metal with H.I.M., The 69 Eyes, Charon, Poisonblack and 80s pop influences. Great band, recommended  |
This past weekend I picked up Aeon Flux on DVD, the movie not the show, for $10. I didn't see the movie in theaters. It got a lot of negative press and reviews. I hope it's not as bad as people say. A lot of DVD review sites say that the DVD is strong, a lot of good extra features. I'll watch the movie tomorrow.
xman25 |
I bought a few of the Buffy seasons on VHS they were only £0.99 so I was like "I'm having those." I got Season 7, half of Season 6 and half of Season 5, so I've nearly got all of them now.
|
Recently I have bought:
X-Men 3: The Last Stand ~ I have the first two on DVD and I had to complete my collection with this. Quite enjoyed the first two and heard mixed reviews about this one, so I guess I'll make up mind when I get around to watching it. House - Season 1 ~ I caught a few episodes on TV recently, and really enjoyed them, so I went out and bought this. Got it on sale as well, so yay for me. :) |
I bought quite a few things yesterday.
First off, I bought Arrested Development: Seasons 1-3 at Circuit City for $18 each. I've always wanted to see this show from the beginning (since I've only seen one episode from like the middle of season 2 that made no sense to me), so with all the seasons going for this cheap, I couldn't pass this up. Second, I bought Brotherhood: The Complete First Season at Wal-Mart for $20. I rewally had no intentions of getting this, but I saw it selling for that cheap, and thought that it was pretty good for a newly released TV DVD set. I have heard good things about it though, so it wasn't a totally random buy. And finally, I bought Murder One: The Complete First Season, also at Wal-Mart for $20. I had heard good things about this show, I had just never bought it because it was always like $40 or more. I was surprised to see it selling for half that, so I quickly snatched it up. Also, the box tells me I'll like it, since it says that if I love 24, I won't want to miss a minute of Murder One (:tpg:)! |
I recently bought Firday the 13th parts 1 thru 5, part 7, and part 8. I already had parts 6, 9 and Jason Vs. Freddy.
I bought Season 2 Volume 2 of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, to complete the 4 volume set. I also bought X-men 1.5, X2: X-Men United, X-Men 3: The Last Stand, and The Little Mermaid, The Stephen King Collection (which includes The Dead Zone, Pet Semetary, Silver Bullet, Graveyard Shift), and The Lake House. I bought an old 1976 movie, Squirm (about worms coming up from the ground to kill after fallen electrical wires touch the ground.) I also bought Futurama: Monster Robot Maniac Fun Collection to complete my Futurama DVD collection. I recently also bought Arrested Development Season 3, The Dead Zone Season 4. I bought for my father Smallville Season 5. I bought The Evil Dead, The Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn, Army of Darkness, Elvira: Mistress of the Dark, Aprt Pupil, Storm of the Century. Next up I need to get the season 2 volume 2 of Thundercats. |
Just got X-men 3: The last Stand (Target Exclusive).
Little Mermaid - 2-Disc Platinum Edition Akwid - E.S.L. (Cd + DVD) |
I picked up "Millennium Actress" a few weeks ago. I love what they did with the film. It's very unique. I also picked up "Perfect Blue" on DVD shortly afterwards.
|
Just got one of the best movies of the 90s, Pulp Fiction Collector's Edition.

About a month ago (does that count?)
I bought: - Beatles - A Hard Day's Night (DVD) http://www.mwe3.com/reviews/images/B...dDaysNight.jpg - Daft Punk - Instersteller 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem (DVD) (yes I realize, you can basically watch the whole thing on Youtube -_-) http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P...8.LZZZZZZZ.jpg Do I win? |
Damn Wal-Mart. I didn't even plan on buying any DVDs this week, but they had some good deals that I couldn't pass up.
First off, I got Smallville: The Complete Fourth Season for $15! I ususally see this going for around $40 or so, and even on sale I haven't seen it for less than $30 or so, so needless to say, I was really surprised to see this for that cheap of a price. I probably won't watch it anytime soon (still watching The Pretender at the moment, and planned on starting Arrested Development soon), but it's nice to have it for whenever I decide too. Next, I got Oz: The Complete First Season for $15 as well! The cheapest I had seen this going for was $50, so of course I picked this up too when I saw it for that price. I was kinda holding out in hopes that they would release a 'Complete Series' set, but I couldn't pass the show up when it was going for this cheap. Also of note (that only Capo will probably care about), this is the first HBO drama I've ever bought on DVD, and only the second HBO show in general (the first being Curb Your Enthusiasm). Also while I was there, I saw That's My Bush!: The Definitive Collection for $20. |
Picked this up earlier this evening. I'm a big fan of Mitch Hedberg and one of my friends had accidently ruined a copy I had so I went ahead and bought it again.
http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/1...r450wi3.th.jpg |
Today I bought Hawkwind's Hall of the Mountain Grill and Soundgarden's Superunknown. Both are excellent, and Hawkwind certainly is very spacey.
|
I went over to Tower Records and purged the store from their going out of buisness sale. All CDs are 70% now, but of course pickings are slim. I spent about $62 there.
For Me: Unearth - III: In the Eyes of Fire Animosity - Empires Shadows Fall - Fallout From the War Nightrage - Sweet Vengeance Glass Casket - Deperate Man's Diary Disillusion - Back to Times of Splendor Immortal - At the Heart of Winter Shape of Despair - Shape of Despair Shape of Despair - Shades of... Larry Coryell - Tricycles For Girlfriend: Billy Idol - Rebel Yell Billy Idol - Billy Idol For Friend: Poison - Flesh and Blood That's sort of a joke gift. He works at a cheap recording company and there's a local Poison cover band that frequents there. Just poking some fun at him. |
Christmas bump.
Umphrey's McGee - "Local Band Does O.K." and "Safety in Numbers" Yes - "Fragile" and "The Yes Album (Expanded and Remastered)" King Crimson - "Red" Angra - "Angels Cry" Shaman - "Ritual" At War With Self - "Torn Between Dimensions" Ivo Pogorelich - "The Genius of Pogorelich" Marco Antonio Araujo - "Quando A Sorte Te Solta Um Cisne Na Noite" A lot of good shit there. The last one is damn obscure (unless you're from Brazil I guess). |
http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/...V59841508_.jpg
The Decemberists - The Crane Wife http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/...CLZZZZZZZ_.jpg Sufjan Stevens - Greetings From Michigan: The Great Lake State http://ec2.images-amazon.com/images/...V36090259_.jpg The Shins - Phantom Limb Perfect music for winter, if I do say so. I bought Phantom Limb from iTunes, however, and it doesn't come with the song Nothing at All for some reason. But it was only $2 anyway, and I can never find it in the record stores so oh well. |
movies
i got a whole lotta movies for xmas
Finding Neverland, The Devil Wears Prada, Save the Last Dance, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Moulin Rouge :] im a happy camper. |

I definitely think they've topped You Forgot it in People. |
Wow, I got a whole shitload of stuff since my last post.
Back in November (on Black Friday), I bought House M.D.: Season 1 for $13, Monk: Season 1 for $13, and Everybody Hates Chris: Season 1 for $18. I've never seen any of these shows, but I've heard good things about all of them. And at prices those cheap, even if I don't like them, it wasn't that much of a waste. Back in December I got 24: Season 5, ER: Season 6, Alias: The Complete Series, and How I Met Your Mother: Season 1. I was torn between which bonus disc to get with 24: Best Buy's or Target's. I eventually chose Best Buy's, but I still want to get Target's somehow. I have to think of a plan (I was seriously about to buy another copy at Target today just to get it, but that would be a waste of money). As for ER, it was so awesome that I finished the whole season (22 episodes) in less than a week. I bought Alias: The Complete Series at Borders for $120. If it wasn't for the coupon that Borders sent with its weekly e-mail (for 40% off any DVD), I probably wouldn't had gotten it anytime soon. But I'm glad that I did, as this set has the best packaging of any DVD boxest I bought all last year. As for How I Met Your Mother, it was only $20 at Borders, so I picked it up as well. I saw the show back when it first came on, but I decided not to get into it at that time since I already had a busy TV schedule. But now that it's on DVD, I can enjoy it at my leisure. And today, I bought Doctor Who: Series 2, Dead Like Me: Season 1, and 24: Season 6 Premiere. I've been wanting Doctor Who since last summer, so this is a godsend. Can't wait to start watching it. I got Dead Like Me since it was on sale for $20 at Best Buy. Never seen it before, but I have a friend who likes it, so I figured I'd give it a chance. As for 24, I dindn't really need to get it (I just saw the episodes, and I'm not that interested in the preview since I won't be able to watch the whole episode at once), but the 24 collector in me wanted it. |
Haven't gotten any new DVD's since Christmas, but I'm picking up Transformers The Movie 20th Anniversary Edition soon. The (hopefully) near-perfect version of one of my favourite movies.
|

I really like it. Was actually looking to buy "White Light/White Heat" but they didn't have that, so I bought this one instead. Good stuff, I say. |
Whoops...I got a few more CDs a couple weeks ago.
Blues Saraceno - "Plaid" Joe Satriani - "Surfing With the Alien" and "Super Colossal" Dir en Grey - "Withering to Death" Masterplan - "Masterplan" Saraceno's licks are just tasty. I don't think I could describe it without sounding incredibly gay. Satriani's stuff is, of course, very solid. I'm not sure what to think about the Japanese stuff...it's definitely different. I'm a little disappointed with Masterplan; it's pretty boring power metal. The album doesn't even have the song that brought me to the band. |

Re-issued version of Peter Andersson's work from 1997. Simply amazing stuff. Best listened while alone with a pair of good headphones. |
I know one DVD set I must get in March 27th, and its on my sig.

I got Evil Dead and Evil Dead II both on DVDs. I have the trilogy now =)
|
Today I bought the fourth season of 'The Pretender' on DVD for $20 at Best Buy. I now have all four seasons of the show on DVD.

Getting all these TV DVDs is seriously gonna make me broke.
Last week I was at Borders, and saw that they had a "Buy 3 DVDs get the 4th free" sale going on, so I figured why not. After much deciding (I must have been there for almost an hour), I decided to get Aeon Flux: The Complete Animated Collection, Dead Like Me: Season 2, Roar: The Complete Series, and St. Elsewhere: Season 1. They were all $40, save for the free one, but with gift certificates and discounts I only wound up paying about $90 for them (so in all, I saved about $70). I got Aeon Flux because I used to watch it when I was younger. I don't remember much of it now though, so I want to watch it again. I got Dead Like Me S2 since I bought the first season last week. Once I found out it was only on for two seasons, I figured I might as well just get the other one and watch them both back to back. As for Roar, another show I watched when I was younger, so I wanted to see it again. It also has some unaired episodes, which definitely makes it worth it. Finally, I've never seen St. Elsewhere, but i heard it was good back in the day, and I need a medical drama fix while waiting for ER Season 7 to come out in May. Unfortunately, I went back there today. After watching most of the second series of Doctor Who, I decided I wanted to see some of the older ones. So I used the same deal to pick up four DVDs of serials from the old show: The Three Doctors, Horror of Fang Rock, Earthshock, and Ghost Light. Not much to say about them since I haven't seen any of them yet, but I will mention that I was trying to get the best mix of Doctors possible (i.e. according to what Borders had). So in that respect, I think I did pretty good, getting to see six out of the first seven (sorry Sixth Doctor). And finally, something that didn't cause much damage, I bought Boomtown: Season 1 at FYE today for $10! I've seen this there before going for $20, but I still never got it. When I saw it today for $15, I finally decided to bite, and when I got to the register I was surprised to see that it only rang up for $10. $10 for 18 episodes is a pretty good deal, especially for a show that I hear is really good. |
i finally got YUI's FROM ME TO YOU album... almost a year after its release, but it's probably the greatest collection of songs on one disc by a single artist for last year. i guess that's what you would call album of the year.
i also got this elebits album: The Smile of You ~theme from Elebits just because i really enjoyed the music from the game. <3 |
I picked up a few DVD's today.
Gladiator: Special 3 Disc Edition - I watched this the other day and released what a good film it was, and when I saw that the 3 disc edition was on sale, I just had to get it. Ghostbusters 1 + 2: Slimer Pack - I have always wanted these films, and when I saw the green slimer box that they come in, I had no choice but to buy this. Aeon Flux - Umm, the deal was 3 for £20, and this was the third, I had pretty much everything else in the selection. I also have the animated series, so it will be interesting to see bad this is compared to that. |
My next DVD Purchase will definately be the movie "Pan's Labyrinth" It's brilliantly done and the visuals are just stunning!
|
A couple days ago I bought volumes three and four of the 'Ultimate James Bond' dvd sets for $30 each. I got them used. I've seen them on sale for $60 to $70 each at Best Buy and other stores. Two for the price of one for me. I don't have the first two volumes yet. I'm sure I'll find those used, eventually.
xman25 |
Recently I bought the ultimate Superman collection with Christopher Reeves, the original Superman.
|
A few days ago I bought:
Brazil: Watched it during film school. I absolutely loved it and had to buy it when I saw it. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: Believe it or not, I first saw this in my health class during high school. Yeah. Crazy. Had to have it. Taxi Driver: It's a classic. 'Nuff said. Remember the Titans: I'm a football nut and I enjoyed this when I was younger. Good performances. |
Yesterday I bought volumes one and two of the Ultimate James Bond dvd sets for $25 each. I now have all four volumes. All at great prices. I've seen them at Best Buy and other stores on sale between $60 and $90 each.
xman25 |
Just got The L Word: Season 1 today. My friend has been wanting me get this for a while now, as she says it's the best show on TV (this is, of course, after I tell her that 24 is). I usually say that it's too expensive, but I saw it at Borders today for only $30. Combine that with a 20% off coupon I had, and I managed to get it for $24 (coincidence?).
|
Seinfeld Seasons 1,2 and 4-6.
Curb Your Enthusiasm Seasons 1 and 5. Happy now that you've got my money Mr. David? |
Book: Alastair Reynolds - Century Rain.
Loved the last book of his I read, Pushing Ice, so this should be good. |
Smallville season 5
Dune Extended Edition Fearless The Protector Clerks II Swingers Last night, I went to an awesome show at the Casbah and I bought some CDs from the bands that played: Rocket - Girls with Candy Hearts Polysics - Now is the Time!!!! The Outline - The Chestnut Tree |
Skinny Puppy's "Mythmaker" finally arrived in the mail today. Fucking brilliant album.
http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/...CLZZZZZZZ_.jpg |
Just got freakin' Alias: The Complete Fifth Season!!
http://images.barnesandnoble.com/ima...0/11600556.jpg I finally have the entire series. It's an awesome day indeed. :megaman: |
Just got Ace Combat 5, and I also got Snakes on a Plane DVD as well as Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones, since my last post, IIRC.
|
Three purchases I cannot believe I actually made, at Best Buy...
1. The Last Unicorn 25th Anniversary Edition ($12.99) 2. Titanic 3-Disc Collectors Edition ($6.99) 3. Nacho Libre ($6.99) :tpg: |
DVDs:
1. Hajime no Ippo T.V. Series 2. Starwars Ep1-6 3. Robotech 4. Berserk |
I just got a couple of new movies recently.
Hollywoodland Dungeons and Dragons: Wrath of the Dragon God. |
Transformers The Movie 20th Anniversary Special Edition (now there's a mouthful!) arrived today. Only had a brief look at it yet but the image quality is excellent.
|
Picked up the Following Albums, mostly on impulse
Broken Boy Soldier - The Raconteurs Rabbit Don't Come Easy - Helloween The Dark Ride - Helloween Touched by the Crimson King - Demons and Wizards Billy Talent II - Billy Talent Reise, Reise - Rammstein I've played through each of them at least once so far, and am really liking what i hear. My order at HMV should be in by the end of the week. I ordered Planet X by Derek Sherinian. Looking very forward to that. |
Robotech : The Shadow Chronicles (DvD)
Buckethead: In Search Of The (13 disc set) That's about it really.. The Shadow Chronicles is meh..not too bad, but not astonishing either. The Buckethead cd's aren't going to ship until the twenty first of this month..but its probably the second highest priced box-set I've ever ordered..so I'm praying its not crap. :) |
Best Buy had a sale:
1. Team America: World Police 2. The Wedding Date 3. The Breakfast Club 4. The Killers: Sam's Town 5. Dream Girls: Motion Picture Soundtrack |
My internship was feeling generous this month, so I went and had a DVD shopping spree:
|
I picked up a copy of the Studio Ghibli film, My Neighbour Totoro yesterday. I have also placed an order for Never Been Kissed, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and 10 Things I Hate About You, which should arrive in a couple of days.
|
Picked up Saw: Uncut Edition and Saw 2: Special Edition (Unrated) at Target in the $9.50 shelf or wherever. I also bought The Departed -- 2 Disc Special Edition there.
|
Last week, I managed to do something that surprised even me. I actually found a 24 DVD that I didn't already have. I was browsing around at Best buy the other day, and near the season sets I saw a DVD entitled 24 Behind The Scenes: The Editing Process. Now, I knew this DVD existed, but as far as I knew, it was only released in Region 2. So the fact that it was released here is news to me (even the 24 wiki page still has it listed as TBA in Region 1). It was $15 (kind of a rip for only a 30-minute feature), but I honestly picked it up and bought it without even looking at the price.
And today, I went back to Best Buy to pick up Da Ali G Show: Da Compleet Seereez for only $30. I've been interested in getting this show for a while now, but I've just been waiting for the right time (aka the right price) to get it. Never seen the show before, but from what I hear about it, it sounds like something I would like. Also today, I went to Circuit City and picked up The Loop: Season 1 for $15. I remember this being one of the few new comedies that I liked last season, but for some reason (probably conflicted with another show on my schedule) I never watched that much of it. Since it's actually coming back for a second season, I figured I would pick this up to get prepped for the new season. Finally, I also picked up the new 24 Declassified novel, Vanishing Point, at Borders today for $7. I'm still in the middle of the third novel, Trojan Horse, so once I finish that and the fourth one (Cat's Claw), I'll probably start reading this one, since these are the only books I've been reading outside of school textbooks. |
Thanks to my accidentally not cashing a check from two weeks ago, I had alot of extra money and splurged on the following:
The Cube(Really neat movie..I'd seen the sequel on Sci-fi and really wanted to see the original) Cube 2: Hypercube (After finally seeing the first one, this pales in comparison, but its still a fun little movie.) At the Princeton Record Exchange, I picked up a smattering of cds for about 2-6 bucks a pop. They are: Rollins Band - Come In And Burn Eagles of Death Metal - Death by Sexy Bruce Dickinson - The Chemical Wedding KMFDM - Money Powered Up! Mutations and Mutilations of 8-bit Hits and finally: Bruce McCullough - Shame Based Man (My other copy was in really bad shape..and this was a godsend) Oh! Almost forgot, picked up a few other movies at the video place around the corner of my house, they were quite the bargain: The Gate Jawbreaker Street Fighter Alpha: Generations Whew..I'm done now. :) |
Goo Goo Dolls- Live in Buffalo
|
Had some birthday money to spend so i picked up A Twist in the Myth by Blind Guardian and Something Wicked This Way Comes by Iced Earth.
Yup, i'm sinking further and further into power metal. I forgot the HMV gift cert i got, so i'm going back tomorrow for some stuff i have on hold. I also ordered A Missplaced Childhood by Mirillian. |
Shit, this thread hasn't been touched in ten days?
One purchase for me; Explosions in the Sky - The Rescue EP. Good. Not amazingly good, but a highly enjoyable post-rcok CD, albeit a bit predictable. |
Spent way more than I intended to this week buying some TV DVD sets. They were all on sale at Best Buy, but I still managed to buy over $100 worth. :(
First up, I bought The Pretender: Movie Edition for $20. I just bought and finished watching all the seasons of this show last year, so the only thing left for me to do was to get the TV movies that continued the series. Since they finally came out this month, I made sure to get them so I can finish the story once and for all. Next, I bought Newsradio: Season 4 and Season 5. Season 5 just came out this week, so Best Buy was selling all the other sets for only $18. Season 4 was the only other one I needed, so I bought that along with Season 5 for $30. I now have the complete series, so I'm now finishing up the rest of the sets (the Seasons 1&2 set is the only one I've watched so far). I also got Sleeper Cell: American Terror, which is the second season of the show. I honestly didn't think this show needed a second season (the first season wrapped up almost perfectly), but since it's there (and only selling for $20), I figured I might as well watch it. And finally, I got La Femme Nikita: Season 5 for $20 (it's only eight episodes though, so I still wouldn't say it's that great a deal). Unfortunately, I don't even have Season 4 yet (the cheapest I've seen it going for is about $82), so I won't be watching this anytime soon. |
I got a 3-Disc set of The Naked Gun movies. They're still hilarious.
I got a shock when I say Anna Nicole Smith in part 3, I had forgotten she was in that. :o |
In an interesting impulse shopping adventure, I got the first Death Note movie, since I'm L and don't mind watching my sexy self over and over again. <3 I've already seen it once, but once I saw a copy sitting on shelf in this store I was at, it was a quick no-thought decision to get it.
And since there was a "discount" if I got two (DAMN THE DISCOUNT!), I also got Tom-Yum-Goong, since Tony Jaa is my current martial arts hero. :3: |
Picked up the following today.
-Helloween Live on Three Continents DVD -A Misplaced Childhood remastered 2 disc edition by Marillion -Nightfall in Middle Earth by Blind Guardian -The Black Halo by Kamelot -The Second Stage Turbine Blade by Coheed and Cambria I've listened to item two and three so far. I like both of them. A great album by Blind Guardian, and i can tell that i'm deffinetly going to like Marillion. They sound alot like Genisis, or what i've heard of Genisis so far anyways. Haven't even heard Kamelot before, so this is going to be an adventure. I liked Coheed's third album, so i'm hoping i'll enjoy their first as well. As for Helloween's DVD, i can't wait to watch it tonight. This will be the first time i've ever seen/heard Helloween live. I was also going to pick up Final Fantasy 12 today....... but i couldn't find it. They honestly had no copies at HMV, which is weird, cause last week when i was there, they had like 30. I'll just have to wait. I also inquired about buying a Wii, and it was really funny how the lady lowered her voice to almost a whisper when she said "they're restocking everyone in April". Guess my Wii hunt is going on stand by till then. |
I picked up Children of Men (DVD) today at Circuit City.
Great movie, quite possibly one of the best sci-fi films in years. I don't think I've been this engrossed in a futuristic world since, uh...Blade Runner. (I hate referencing CoM to BR like the critics do, but damnit it's just that good. A Scanner Darkly doesn't really count, even if I did enjoy the hell out of that film, since it's not so much of a sci-fi flick as a drug movie) |
I bought the first volume of Preacher. Such a kick ass comic.
|
Since my last post here I've accumulated the following:
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest 2-disc special edition because "Pirates" rocks my socks. <3 Can't wait for the third one. Utada Hikaru - Deep River - One of my all-time favorite albums, and now I finally "own it." Utada Hikaru - ULTRA BLUE - This one too. <3 The case of this one is kinda annoying though because it's larger than your typical jewel case, so it doesn't fit in regular CD jewel case shelving. =/ Lastly, I also got my girlfriend's new album, Can't Buy My Love. It's doing pretty well and finally hit #1 this week, and it should be up there for a while. We'll probably get married later this year. :3: http://images.sanemonkey.com/misc/yu...uy_my_love.jpg |
I just got Regina Spektor's Begin to Hope Bonus Disk...it has like four extra songs, and I'm really excited about it! And Date Movie...
|
Nine Inch Nail's Beside You In Time DVD.
Good performance. http://www.w-fenec.org/photos/2007/i..._your_time.jpg Also, The Simpsons: The Complete 9th Season. http://www.foxtvdvd.co.uk/assets/116..._078470100.jpg |
I've gotten two TV DVD sets since my last post.
First off, I got Sliders: Seasons 1 & 2 at Wal-Mart for $20. This was one of my favorite shows ever while growing up, so it'll be great to see it again on the greatness that is DVD. I've probably would have gotten this set sooner, but it's always been so expensive. It first came out for $90, and then it had dropped to about $60, so needless to say I was surprised to see it for $20. I haven't watched any of it yet, but just looking at the packaging and stuff, I can't see how this ever sold for that high (unless the version has different packaging or something). And just last week, I got Bones: Season One at Target for $20. Never seen the show, but it does look kinda interesting, and $20 for a show so recent didn't seem like a bad deal at all. |
Menomena - "I Am the Fun Blame Monster"
I Monster - "Neveroddoreven" American Football - Self-titled Joan of Arc - "How Memory Works" Adam Green - "Friends of Mine" Frankly, my playlist was feeling light on the experimental, indie, electronic, and anti-folk. XD |
The Transformers: The Movie DVD.

Picked up today:
|
Target is now my go-to place for DVDs.
(Target exclusive?) The Man with No Name trilogy boxed set -- $14.99!: -A Fistful of Dollars -For a Few Dollars More -The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly Target is awesome for putting these small sets out. Around the holiday season last year I bought the Die Hard trilogy set for $20. Continuing on: Children of Men Rocky Balboa The Iron Giant (Special Edition DVD) Turistas Casino Royale (Widescreen 2-disc set) |
Recently picked up the other night:
Pan's Labyrinth The Fountain. Finally received the CD I orderd from the UK today: Journey to Atlantis I haven't stopped listening to it since I ripped it. It's the kind of atmospheric/ambient CD I've been looking for. |
- Pan's Labyrinth: Platinum Series 2-Disc
- After Dark by Haruki Murakami Two great works translated into English so that I could enjoy the hell out of them. |
Damn, lots of stuff obtained since my last post. I'll try to list it all, but I know I'll probably forget something.
The 4400 - The Third Season: Summer TV is about to kick into gear soon, so I picked this up to reacquaint myself with this show before Season 4 starts next month. I felt this was needed, since I didn't really pay enough attention to it while it was on TV (mainly because I had watched the first two seasons on DVD only, so it was a different experience watching it on TV). If this same thing winds up happening again with Season 4, I might just to only watching this show on DVD. ER - The Complete Seventh Season: my second favorite show of all time comes out with another season on DVD, so of course I'.m there to buy it on the first day of release. Target had it on sale for $30, so I bought it there and as soon as I got home I started watching it. I've been watching at least two episodes a day, though on at least one day I watched up to four. I'm currently up to the fifth disc, and I only have four more episodes to go. Once I'm done, I go back into withdrawal until about December, when Season 8 will most likely come out. Gilmore Girls - The Complete Sixth Season: I've been slowly collecting this show on DVD to watch one day, so when this was on sale for around $20 I quickly picked it up. I've seen quite a few episodes on TV, but I've never seen it completely from beginning to end, which is why I'm getting the DVDs. Now that I know the show has ended, I'll probably start watching this show once Season 7 comes out on DVD. The Shield - Seasons 2-4: Another one of my favorite shows of all time, I've been collecting this one as well just to rewatch one day. So far I only had the first season, which was on sale for around $20 some time ago, but once I found out Circuit City had the first four seasons on sale for $18 each, I had to get 2-4. I don't know if I'll ever get around to watching them anytime soon, but it's just nice to have them for whenever I want to rewatch them one day. Veronica Mars - The Complete Second Season: I saw one episode of this show on TV one day after the first season had already aired, and I thought it was pretty good. This lead to me eventually buying the first season on DVD when it was on sale a while back. Since the second season was on sale about a month ago, I decided to buy it as well, knowing I would eventually get to watching them one day. Now that it seems like the show is going to be cancelled, I'll probably wait for the third season to come out and then watch it all in one go, as I did with other shows such as Arrested Development and The Pretender. |
Just in:
Still Life - Jia Zhang Ke's Golden Lion winner is not yet released in the US; I had it imported from yesasia at a surprisingly sweet deal. Needless to say, a masterpiece. It's incredible that this comes from a man only a few years older than I am. The Rules of the Game (Criterion) Pandora's Box (Criterion) Absolute essentials that made me wish I owned a printing press. |
dvd: i don't know it's been so i long, i have blockbuster online, so i never buy dvds anymore
cd: david ford's state of the union single, check him out, he's my favorite artist! |
Picked up Afro Samurai on impulse today. Don't know much about it, but it looked interesting.
Also got season one of Batman Beyond. It's step one in my adventure into the Batman world. I'm going to start with the mainstream stuff, probably going into the more recent movies, and eventually into the comics. |
Found and picked up Jack of All Trades on DVD~
Now if only Briscoe County Jr wasn't $80 :( |
Queens Of The Stone Age - Era Vulgaris: Great album, though not as good as their magnum opus "Songs For The Deaf".
The Smashing Pumpkins - Zeitgeist: They are back! The next logical step to Machina. Dream Theater - Systematic Chaos: Probably their best since Scenes From A Memory. Major con: half of the songs of this album sound too much similar to other bands (Metallica, Muse, Opeth, Evanescence). |

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b8...iL._AA240_.jpghttp://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b8...1L._AA240_.jpg I just gotta love the covers for these Classic Media DVDs. Really snazzy, and give to me for my birthday :3 Since Angurius is one of my favourite monsters, I'm going to be watching GRA tomorrow. |

First movie.. on.. disc.. thina-ma-hig.. VCD.. laser disc that I'd been looking forward to for ages. Not backwards! It came in a completely pointless tin case and everything. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y13...lax/300002.jpg What the hell is the point of this? This was just the standard edition, there was another with an art book or some shit. What's that come packed in? A safe made of meat patties?! That would be delicious and very bad at storing items. |
Recently bought:
Out of the list, Hero was a complete waste of money. I guess chinese-based martial arts movies aren't my thing. I expected it to be like Unleashed or something. Premonition made no sense at all, and I bought Mortal Kombat so I can repeadetly watch the fight scene between Lu Kang and Reptile. |
Nile - Ithyphallic
Behemoth - The Apostasy The Absence - Riders of the Plague Getting my fill of metal. |
Fried Green Tomatoes - FYE
A League of Their Own - Walmart |
Picked up at the second-hand The Daily Show Indecision 2004 for 12 bucks, M*A*S*H season 7 for $15, Matrix Reloaded for $5, and Bill Maher: Victory Begins at Home for $10. All in all a good haul. Looking forward to watching (some of) all of it this coming week.

|
I picked up My Cousin Vinny tonight at Wal-Mart for 5 bucks.
I was really looking for Gettysburg on DVD. I was at Barnes and Noble earlier in the night and I could have bought it there, but I wanted to see if Wal-Mart had it cheaper. They didn't even have it. :( Serves me right for being cheap. |
Picked up the Silent Hill 4 Soundtrack from Konamistyle, the european version.
|
Picked up Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Extended Edition.
Also picked up Ayreon Into the Electric Castle, as well as The Universal Migrator Parts I and II. Love both albums. Basically bought the LOTR for the marathon i'm gonna have in a while. Looking very forward to that. |

Meshuggah - Obzen Abigail Williams - Legend Iron Maiden - Fear of the Dark Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son Sodom - Agent Orange Porcupine Tree - Voyage 34 Island - Orakel Agalloch - White EP The last two I got in the mail the other day. |
Sodom's "Agent Orange" is bloody awesome, yes?
THE FIRE THAT DOESN'T BURN! |
Quote:
Indeed it is. This is my first time listening to Sodom. Took me awhile but I finally have a CD of theirs. |
Haha, hey, as they say, better late then never.
Sodom was my first real exposure to thrash metal, I think. I was at this music shop (that specialized in metal and rock) and stumbled upon a tape of that album, thinking to myself "hey, this looks pretty good." I asked the owner about it and he goes "best thrash album ever" and pops said tape into the cd/cassette player. Needless to say, much headbanging ensued. |
Picked up more CDs today:
Anata - Dreams of Death and Dismay Spawn of Possession - Noctambulant Dismember - Massive Killing Capacity Summoning - Dol Guldur |
That Spawn of Possession album is ace.
I picked up a couple of CDs and a DVD at yesterday's gig (could have picked up more, but I was saving some cash): HORSE the Band - A Natural Death Halal/Hadhari - Kids Roar When Meet the Lion (Malaysian emo/screamo band) And (a copy of) Nocturno Culto's "The Misanthrope" DVD. Which is a bit odd. Not sure if I like it. But, hey, kvlt as fvck Darkthrone rehearsal footage! Footage of forests! Uh... yeah. |
Judas Priest: Turbo, British Steel, Electric Eye (DVD)
Iron Maiden: Seventh Son, Dance of Death Gamma Ray: No World Order Running Wild: Victory Death Angel: New album (forgot name) Slayer: Reign in Blood Poison: Crack a Smile...And More Dragonforce: Inhuman Rampage Nice haul. Not used to getting so many discs compared to buying VGM. Still slowly filling out those discographies (that's it for Poison) |
Eh, some recent Asian gets:
http://images.sanemonkey.com/gff/media-20080417.jpg BENNIE K ~ "The New World" concert DVD. I'm addicted to BK, and I caught some footage from this show online and loved it. YUI ~ "I Loved Yesterday" CD+DVD. My girlfriend, YUI, has a new album, and it's <3. I like the cover photo too... YUI-in-a-box. Hikaru Utada ~ "HEART STATION" CD. Gotta get it since I've been a fan forever. It's a solid album. "Take 5" still throws me off though. |
A few days ago I purchased "Inland Empire" for six dollars. Considering I'm a David Lynch fan, and hadn't seen it yet, It was a very good deal. I was initially turned away, as I had heard things like: "this movie's plot consists of nothing more then idea's Lynch had kicking around, etc." However once I saw it I was pleased, as it seemed like there was definitely a story, but as all Lynch films, it'll require multiple viewings before it becomes clear.
|
This week on Gamingforce: David Lynch gets more money.
Finally got a copy of Blue Velvet - odd considering it's probably the easiest of his movies to find (FUCK YOU LOST HIGHWAY) and yet it's among the last I've obtained. Still need Highway and The Straight Story. Highway must first see a release that doesn't suck (i.e. widescreen AND proper 5.1). Also, LotR trilogy in widescreen for ~$20. Is that any good. |
Helloween: Keeper of the Seven Keys Part 2
Gamma Ray: Land of the Free, Power Plant Dragonforce: Fury of the Storm Good times! |
It's been a while since I posted here. I think if I posted here everytime I get something new...it'll probably be weekly. LOL :-D
Anyways latest purchase are: Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, & The wardrobe BD. Liked the regular DVD version so decided to get it on BD. Any movie that I like I usually buy it on BD. Next week picking up National Treasure 1 & 2 BD @ Target. Yes I know Amazon has both of them for 39.99 but have coupons to make it cheaper than on amazon. |
Just preordered Distrubed new album :megaman:
|
Bought Atmosphere's latest, "When Life Gives you Lemons, You Paint That shit Gold" and I must say it's awesome. Got the deluxe version too with the bonus dvd (over an hour of live footage). Awesome.
|
Music: Bela Fleck and the Flecktones' UFO Tofu
Movies: V for Vendetta and The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe, both on bluray |
I buy so few actual movies it's not even funny. And I never purchase music, other than the one time I got the Mother3i and Mother3+ soundtracks off of iTunes.
Anyway, the last movies I bought? Lawn Dogs, Bridge to Terabithia, Alice (Neco z Alenky) and Silent Hill. And those are the last movies I bought over the past 3 years. Yes, I buy very few movies. |
National Treasure 1 & 2 BD:

In my quest for all of Radiohead's available media, I've placed an order for both Comlag (2+2 = 5) and and Pyramid Song CD 1. To add a little more futurepop to my library I've also decided to buy VNV Nation's Judgement.
And a few days before that... I finally picked up Meat is Murder by The Smiths, which I've been intending to buy for at least a year, Rage Against The Machine's self-titled album, Rob Zombie's The Sinister Urge, Aphex Twin's Drukqs double album (which I had to have, having found it for under a tenner) and also Radiohead's I Might Be Wrong : Live Recordings (which has True Love Waits on and as such I'm in love with). |
Oasis: Stop the Clocks. Basically, it cuts right to the good stuff. Although I would have loved to see certain other songs--including "Stop Crying Your Heart Out" and "Whatever--" on the compilation, I was still pretty pleased. Props for including "Songbird," which was ridiculously charming for such a simple piece.
The extras were alright. They were enough, but I was left wanting to see more. I'm wondering why I even bought this. I already have most of the songs in the compilation. Also, I need to get Iron Man as soon as it comes out. The box better be epic--with moving parts and lasers. |
Picked up this week:
Semi-Pro Meet the Spartans (wish I hadn't...) The Onion Movie (fucking hilarious) |
Picked up earlier:
Agalloch - Pale Folklore Agalloch - The Mantle (had it downloaded illegally, finally have a hard copy) The Advantage - Self-Titled Today: Opeth - Watershed (fuck yes!) |
M83 - Saturdays = Youth. I've always enjoyed their work, especially Before the Dawn Heals US. I'm glad that there's more voice in this now. I've been slowly appreciating this.

|
Since the beginning of man, the only reason to ever own a PlayStation 3 has been to watch Planet Earth Blu-Ray.
This past week, that all changed... not with Blu-Ray release of Batman Begins (Limited Edition Gift Set) or Batman: Gotham Knight (both of which I got though), but with the Blu-Ray release of Chicago and Earth, Wind & Fire: Live at the Greek Theatre! <3 The epic hugeness of that concert has now become the only other rational explanation for owning a PS3. :3: |
I just ordered a copy of Brighton Wok - The mystery of Ganja Boxing on DVD. It's a locally made indy film about ninjas and weed and from the trailers looks hilarious. I'm pretty sure the guy who made it was in the year above me at school too. I'm also quite tempted to buy The Cottage when I get paid tomorrow too as it's very funny indeed.
|
Picked up recently:
Star Ocean EX complete series Planet of the Apes (Tim Burton's) Kingdom of Heaven Terminator 2 Collector's Edition Be Kind, Rewind Live Free or Die Hard And tonight when I went to get drinks from Lawl-Mart, saw Spaceballs Collector's Edition for $4. Shoulda bought both copies. |
In preperation for The Dark Knight, I picked up Batman Begins yesterday at the movie rental place for $5.99 used. It's in near-perfect condition though, I'm kind of surprised.
Now I just have to rewatch it. Probably tonight. :3 |
Bustin' this thread wide open like your mother.
Good old 2 for £10 deal I found today; The Smiths' Louder Than Bombs and Echo and the Bunnymen's Ocean Rain. Mightily pleased with my purchases. |
I got quite a few CDs from the past week. I recently went to a concert, Unexpect with Sigh and local band Vektor opening up. I bought Vektor - Demolition and Unexpect - Utopia. Utopia isn't as great as In a Flesh Aquarium. In fact it sort of sounds like typical melodic death metal. It's good just not Unexpect.
Today I picked up: Ensiferum - Iron Ensiferum - Victory Songs Amon Amarth - With Oden On Our Side Belphegor - Bondage Goat Zombie That was in preparation of the concert with those bands and the Absence in San Francisco. I also picked up today: Into Eternity - The Scattering of Ashes Dark Fortress - Eidolon Vintersorg - Solens Rötter |
Wal-mart had My Name is Earl Season 1 for $15. Snatched it up since I've been wanting to watch this after hearing how hilarious it is. It has not disappointed me in the realm of hilarity.
|
Rockgamer made fun of me for not buying dvds, instead taking the pirating alternative. I am trying to change my ways.
This week: CD: Machinae Supremacy - Overworld Ensiferum - Victory Songs Eluveitie - Slania (w/ bonus dvd) Daft Punk - Discovery DVD: South Park Season 11 Metalocalypse Season 1 Firefly Collection Serenity Combined costs: $100 |
Just picked up Three Imaginary Boys by The Cure and Geogaddi by Boards of Canada. Thoroughly enjoying both.
|

I picked up The Matrix Reloaded soundtrack the other day (Juno Reactor ftw). Apart from Linkin Park, it's all good.
|
Raided a flea market at a nearby shopping mall last Sunday and I got Fear Factory's Demanufacture (the limited edition digipak) and Terminally Your Aborted Ghost's Slowly Peeling the Flesh from the Inside of a Folded Hand (random purchase, turned out to be worth the money).
I also bought (a very well-done pirate job of) the Criterion Collection's 2-DVD release of Akira Kurosawa's Ikiru. |
All-soundtracks post.

Purchased a low budget Horror movie called "Live Feed". On the back it claims to have "extreme violent scenes you've never seen before".
Might be true, but the bullshit about this DVD: In the DVD menu it says UNRATED in big fat letters. But the truth is, the DVD contains the cut version, which cut 9 (!) minutes from the movie. It's sometimes even as bad as they cut scenes in the middle of conversation. Then I got myself the true unrated version and it wasn't that bad. |
I've been a busy little beaver (lulz) with some recent purchases. Some good! Some bad!
DVD: Get Shorty Darkman The Italian Job Mission: Impossible The Secret of NIMH Dick Tracy ID4 (those were found in the $5 at lawl-mart) Ghost Town Pineapple Express Resident Evil Degeneration Xenosaga The Animation Complete Series Shin Chan Season 1 Vol 2 My Name is Bruce will be bought next week. Oh yes. |
Hulk VS. on bluray

Jesus Jinzo, what do you do for a living?
Anyway, Recent stuff I have acquired: - Venture Bros Season 3 - Resident Evil 5: CE - Star Ocean: The Last Hope - A bitchin' T-Shirt from Shirt.woot (Not the one you will likely see on there, they change every day; with limited exceptions) |

I got Demolition Man on DVD at Wal-Mart the other day in the $5 bin. A shitload of soundtracks too, no surprise there. I got back one of my favorites, J.A.C. Redford's One Night with the King. Plus Halloween V, the La-La Land Records expanded Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Alien, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, The Road Warrior... far too many to list here. |
I just bought a few BluRays, having recently gotten a PS3.
First up was Enter the Dragon, which I bought to see it with a friend, who is a martial arts practitioner. Then One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, a movie I had never seen before, but I thoroughly enjoyed it once I sat down one night after work. And finally Blade Runner - 5 Disc Complete Collector's Edition on BluRay. The price was pretty decent (approx 25 american dollars) so I gave it a shot. |
I should have arriving today Warlords and An Empress and the Warriors on dvd. It's been a while since I bought any decent Eastern martial arts epics and they both look pretty great.
I also ordered Saviour of the Soul which I've had on VHS for ages but wanted to have on dvd as the video is wearing out rather. |
I recently got Punch Drunk Love and In Bruges, few cheap DVDs to brighten the day. Tell me how those two martial arts films are, I haven't seen any recent ones recently either but don't have the disposable income to buy them to find out >_>

Three DVDs:
- Panic In the Streets - Treasure Planet - Zorba the Greek |
2 Blurays: Wonder Woman and Quantum of Solace
|
Ew, Quantum of Solace...but I bet it looks pretty on Blu Ray. Casino Royale is THE Blu Ray I show use to show off my TV.
|
2 dvd's, "Das Boot" and "Dr Strangelove, or How I learned to stop worrying..."
|
Picked up The World is Not Enough Bluray at Target for under $10 using a $5 off coupon MGM/Fox title store coupon.
|
Guitar Hero: Metallica
The Matrix on Bluray I like Quantum of Solace. Other than that horrendous Jack White song. I like The White Stripes but that was horrid. Something about adding his voice with Alicia Keys voice makes my ears hurt. Casino Royale's uncompressed PCM track is AWESOME! |
Picked up "Die Another Day" Bluray at Target for 14.99. Good deal. Yes I know the movie isn't that good but still good deal.
|
I've found amazon.com is still the best place for blu rays price-wise. Got A Clockwork Orange and 300 for under $20

Just a small update:
Just picked up X-men Trilogy Bluray @BB for about $45 using the Papa John's $10 off the bluray trilogy. Picked it up Saturday evening 4/25/09. Wasn't going to get it yet but good deal for all three movies... |
On Xbox Live, I picked up Outrun Online Arcade.
From a Best Buy sale I've aquired 007 Quantum of Solace and Universe At War. I also pre-ordered BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger and Klonoa, which should be arriving in a week, Blaz won't be coming out till the end of June. Finally, the major purchase likely of this year: I got a 32" Toshiba HDTV, which arrived today. --edit-- Forgot to mention, I also got an HDMI cable for the 360, which lucky me, arrived today too. Let me tell you, it really does improve the image quality. |
Just picked up X-Men Comic Book Collection Volumes 1 & 2 from Target at 17.99 each. This is the best X-Men series ever made. It is the original Fox series from the 90's. Worth every dollar for this collection. Now I wish they release the second half of the series sometime... :-D

This is basically a cross-post from my latest journal entry, but I bought a whole shit ton of stuff while I was away on holidays recently. This list amounts to around $250 in total ($190 USD, $60 CDN):
Vacation Purchases 2009 That, along with a few other CDs I had bought online: Spoiler:
It's a great year to be a James Horner fan; Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Something Wicked This Way Comes, The Journey of Natty Gann, and now recently Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. All in 2009 alone, with possibly more to come. |
Will be posting an update soon. It's been almost two months since I last posted. Have to check off my wish list and then I'll post.
By the way Basil what store did you buy all of that stuff? They are good prices for the items.... |
Like I said, I was on holidays so I went to a whole bunch of places in the northwestern US and in western Canada. Half Price Books and Hastings are the two major stores in the US that I buy from, and I also stop by a lot of thrift stores, ie Value Village, Salvation Army and the like. I always buy secondhand as it's cheaper than buying new and the CDs are usually in great condition (I always check them first for damage).
As for the DVDs, I got all of those at Wal-Mart, except Memories of Me. CD Plus in Canada carries a lot of MGM DVD titles that are 2 for $10. |
I believe the last thing I ordered was the Watchmen Director's Cut Blu-Ray, from Amazon for about $21. :)
Also, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 on XBL. |
Haven't bought many DVDs recently, but I did get Destroy All Monsters at the World's Biggest Bookstore a few weeks ago. I went there to get a book but found nothing I wanted, so on a whim I went to the DVD section and saw that. It was a lucky find. It's the first time I've seen it in a local store. The movie itself isn't bad, but the alien theme has been done to death in the Godzilla series.
I haven't bought it yet, but I'm going to get the Wolf's Rain Perfect Collection for my birthday. I don't get any presents so I buy my own >_> It has all 30 episodes in one set for a very low price. I've been meaning to get it for a while but never did. I was deciding upon this or Beast Wars season 3 but then it went out of stock while I was still thinking about it so that clinched my decision. |
Picked up Silent Hill 2 and then got 2046 and 12 Monkeys on DVD, I'm satisfied with my purchases =D
|
Here is My Recent purchase
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3623/...e7722b.jpg?v=0 I really recommend it. You can listen to it for free on http://www.imeem.com/artists/the_dea...d-death-album/ or Myspace at The Dear Hunter on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads. I listened to this a million times before I bought it. It was one of those albums that they let you listen to for free, and if you want to pay and contribute you can buy the CD. Needless to say, I did. I could write a review for this someday. Right now however, I'm using these forums as a distraction to what I'm really supposed to be doing. Give it a listen, if youl'd like (I also recommened listening to all three albums in order Act I, II, and III http://pezonesdevenus.files.wordpres...nter_act_i.jpg http://pezonesdevenus.files.wordpres...ningofallt.jpg I own all these albums (Act III also has some really cool artwork that comes with it...) |
