Steam Summer Sale 2014: 6/18/2014 - ?/??/2014

Free stuff being offered

Nothing at this time.

Vemp Jul 11, 2013 07:38 PM

I might get Rayman Origins this time. It's a lot cheaper getting it on Steam compared to the console versions.

I'm also gonna look out for $5-$10 deals, and try not to be too tempted to buy games if they're not on the Daily Deals or Flash Deals/Sales.

The unmovable stubborn Jul 11, 2013 08:25 PM

Hotline Miami is $2.50. If you don't buy it you should probably not be allowed to have... hands.

dagget Jul 11, 2013 09:02 PM

Borderlands 2 and the season pass are $10.19 each. I bit, especially since Gearbox confirmed that there may be even more DLC.

Can't pass that shit up.

Also Knights of the Old Republic 2 up for voting to be the next sale at $3.49. I voted, why haven't you?

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Jul 12, 2013 02:47 AM

I picked up the Last Remnant for $3.40 since I lost my physical copy somewhere between my two moves (Games for Windows Live sucks anyway).

This is the time of year that I actually like not having a powerful computer. About the only other things I plan on picking up are FTL and maybe Rogue Legacy if it goes on flash sale.

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Jul 12, 2013 07:37 AM

For one reason or another, Euro Truck Sim 2 is actually EXCELLENT.

Jesus Christ.

Also, Strike Suit Infinity is 1.75. You guys should look into that.

That new DLC won't be included in the existing Season Pass. There might be a Season 2 pass or there might not be, but the upcoming stuff is confirmed not in the first pass.

I bought There's No Time to Explain and Stealth Bastard Deluxe for pocket change yesterday~

Boo-kun Jul 12, 2013 11:00 AM

Bought Hotline Miami for 2 yuros, now non can blame me for piracy again :zoid:

THIEF Jul 12, 2013 11:06 AM

Bought 8 games last night after I got home from work (well, 8 games if you count all Walking Dead episodes as one game)

Hotline Miami
Jet Set Radio
Bastion
Mirror's Edge
Portal 1 and 2
Left 4 Dead 2 :D
The Walking Dead (all 5 episodes)

Jesus, someone stop meeee.

SuperSonic Jul 12, 2013 05:34 PM

So far...

Hotline Miami
Fez
Surgeon Simulator 2013
Antichamber
Scribblenauts Unlimited

I ALMOST grabbed Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon for $6.74, but the price changed in my cart to $8.99. I know it's only a couple of bucks, but I'll hold off to see if it goes on sale again in the next 9 days or if another site tries to match it.

dagget Jul 12, 2013 10:30 PM

Blood Dragon is amazing. I bought it at launch on PSN. If I see it for below $9, I'll grab it on PC. I felt like I was back in the early 80s plugging in something like Predator or Total Recall to watch. Power Gloves did an awesome job with the soundtrack too.

Blood Dragon Main theme

Iwata Jul 13, 2013 01:03 AM

Finally picked up FTL and Hotline Miami.

Single Elbow Jul 13, 2013 02:39 AM

Got ARES, Chivalry, EDF, Hotline Miami, Sleeping Dogs, Sniper 2, They Bleed Pixels and Super House of Dead Ninjas. First round.

Can't decide what to get next, honestly.

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Jul 13, 2013 08:27 AM

Chivalry is so excellent. The more the merrier on that.

The unmovable stubborn Jul 13, 2013 08:45 AM

Chivalry is the Termiest game that has ever been or ever will be.

SuperSonic Jul 13, 2013 09:24 AM

Went ahead and bit on the Just Cause collection and Chivalry.

The Plane Is A Tiger Jul 13, 2013 09:44 AM

I grabbed Ys 1&2 Chronicles+ while it was up for a flash sale, and used that as an excuse to pick up several other games:

-Chivalry
- Botanicula
- No Time to Explain
- Thirty Flights of Loving

There are a few others on my wishlist that I'm sure I'll grab before the sale is over, but I'm hoping for slightly lower prices. Rogue Legacy, Toki Tori 2, A Virus Named Tom, and La-Mulana would all be nice. Evoland also looks pretty neat if they'd drop it to 75% off.

YO PITTSBURGH MIKE HERE Jul 13, 2013 10:36 AM

I am a shrewd, business-minded individual. Here are the results of the first quarter of the fiscal year:
  • Bully: Scholarship Edition
  • Tropico 4: Collectors Bundle
  • Amanita Bundle
  • Saints Row: The Third - The Full Package
  • Bastion

Scent of a Grundle Jul 13, 2013 11:10 AM

Picked up Antichamber and CS:GO yesterday, will probably nab Chivalry in case Game Night crew decides to go back to that at some point. It helps that most of the games i want from Steam, i already have.

FatsDomino Jul 13, 2013 11:40 AM

What are the chances of Chivalry being played next Tuesday? I'm out of town for the weekend and would have to borrow a computer or something to buy it. Regardless, I'm guessing it's worth it for $6.49?

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Jul 13, 2013 01:44 PM

Very worth it.

Not sure if it'll be the game next week since I think we're supposed to do zombies. Maybe the week after that yet?

FatsDomino Jul 13, 2013 02:03 PM

Yeah GFF Game Night crew is always happy to play 2 games: Chivalry and The Hidden.

THIEF Jul 13, 2013 02:13 PM

Searched for The Hidden and couldn't find. What is that?

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Jul 13, 2013 02:32 PM

The Hidden is a free HL2 mod.

Google it.

Half life 2 mod.

The Hidden: Source

EDIT

Bought Half life 2 (for Hidden), FTL, No time to explain, Afterfall, Strike Suit Infinity and Fez. Round 2.

Was going to ask Skills if getting Strike Suit Zero would be great but I'm not that good at simulators after all. Is the soundtrack good at least (skipped on that).

Scent of a Grundle Jul 13, 2013 06:22 PM

you didn't really need to buy Half Life - TF2 runs on source, so i think everyone should be able to play Hidden for free at this point.

You know, you can buy games from the Steam app on iPhone. You don't have to worry about missing out on things.

YO PITTSBURGH MIKE HERE Jul 13, 2013 11:09 PM

And but also you guys should recommend games that aren't being spotlighted that are on sale that also happen to be games you would consider, uh, good. Just be sure to direct them toward my very specific tastes which happen to be somehow (oddly) perfectly in line with what I consider good taste. I have several imaginary crumply Alexander Hamiltons burning a hole in my ePockets.

Hardly a sim; plays more arcadey that you might imagine. Has lots of itano circus.

Play is kind of complex with the constant control switching and dodging mechanics/location based damage/target prioritization and whatnot.

If you pick one, go for Infinity, it's the sort of waved based horde mode style thing, zero has a campaign and whatnot but infinity does away with the escort missions and long periods in between checkpoints that plagues the original.

For quick combat cuts I'd suggest infinity. Considering it's two god damn dollars I don't see why you wouldn't get it, to be honest. Whole game's concept works better as a score chaser anyway. Also check out some youtubes to see what you like.

The music is fantastic.

dagget Jul 14, 2013 01:12 AM

Spent about another $10 today.

Poker Night 2
Audiosurf
They Bleed Pixels.

I really dig Poker Night 2. Got a raging nerd boner when I saw Ashley J. Williams as one of my poker buddies, went away with sad feels because it wasn't Bruce Campbell. :( At least seeing Mad Moxxi as the bartender was a little cool.

Audiosurf is something I've been wanting to get for a while and at $2.39, the price was right. Haven't dove into They Bleed Pixels yet, but it looked like an interesting little game.

Anyone play that Anna game? I was curious about how it was. Also hoping that Dead Island Riptide gets on the massive sale sometime.

I picked up FEZ (which is incredibly charming and I really like it) and Tomb Raider yesterday on a whim. I've heard great things about TR so for $12 I couldn't really pass it up.

It's unfortunate though cause STEAM SALES always come at a shitty time (money-wise)... Middle of the month and all that. There's a few things that have popped up that I wouldn't mind grabbing, but oh well.

The Plane Is A Tiger Jul 14, 2013 12:20 PM

Okay, I'm pretty annoyed at the badges now. The crafting screen makes it look like you only need 5 of the 9 cards for a badge, so I bought two I was missing on Binding of Isaac. All I want to do is hit level 5 to get Summer Sale cards for voting, but noooo. 45 cents spent for nothing since it seems to require all 9. Apparently the act of buying from the market place gave a few exp since I'm only 5 away from level 5 now instead of 21, but that just adds insult to injury.

EDIT: Apparently some of this is on Steam for being overloaded right now, because it suddenly realized that I'm 5 exp away from level 6.

Anyway, I picked up System Shock 2 while it was the daily deal, and grabbed NightSky and the Basement Collection along with it.

dagget Jul 14, 2013 12:56 PM

Doom 3 BFG Edition on Flash Sale for the next 7 Hours: $4.99. I'd rather have it on PS3, but I'll take it for $5 on Steam. :p

Absolutely NO MORE SPENDING. amg.

It specifically says X of Y cards collected for next level.

How could you miss that. It's right next to all the pretty pictures you seem to have trouble not looking at.

Also spending money on the sale and buying games and whatnot gets you XP, yes.

The Plane Is A Tiger Jul 14, 2013 01:10 PM

It says "_ of _ cards collected", not for the next level. I'd assumed the 5 blank card spaces beside the badge were what needed to be filled for crafting.

nuttyturnip Jul 14, 2013 01:41 PM

So far I've picked up Chivalry, Guns of Icarus, Legend of Grimrock, Penny Arcade 4, and Ys I& II.

If anyone's interested, I've got some leftover steam keys from some Humble Bundles. I don't think it's possible to gift them through Steam, but I'd be happy to PM interested persons with the key.

-Little Inferno (have it on Wii-U)
-Awesomenauts (not interested)
-Oil Rush (not interested)
-Waking Mars (have it on iPad)

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Jul 14, 2013 01:43 PM

It actually says "for next level" when you have a badge already. Still thinkin' the text is relatively clear but hey, I read the FAQ and all that so what do I know.

Sousuke Jul 14, 2013 03:08 PM

Awesomenauts? I missed that Bundle and would love to nab a key... I don't think I have anything to give in return though.

YO PITTSBURGH MIKE HERE Jul 14, 2013 03:28 PM

I've never had a good computer before I have the self-control of a twelve year old boy help.
  • Cave Story+
  • Fallout 3: GOTY Edition
  • Fallout New Vegas: Ultimate Edition
  • FTL: Faster Than Light
  • Portal
  • Portal 2
  • Roller Coaster Tycoon 3: Platinum
  • Sim City 4 Deluxe
  • Thomas Was Alone
  • To the Moon
  • Universe Sandbox
And also I'm pretty sure Steam, like, gifted me Civilization 4 - if that's a thing. Which is nice. But also a shame. Since I already have that game.

THIEF Jul 14, 2013 04:28 PM

OK, I'm in the same boat as Capo. This is my first time experiencing a Steam Summer sale and I feel like I'm at kid at a candy store.

Anyways, I have an extra copy of Portal and Dota 2. Seems like everyone and their cat has Portal. Anyone want?

Acer, is Aaaaaaaa! still up for grabs?

YO PITTSBURGH MIKE HERE Jul 14, 2013 04:56 PM

Turns out the free copy of Civ IV was due to them mistakenly putting the latest Civ V expansion on sale, thus kind of sort of fucking over those who preordered, i.e. me. Didn't expect anything in return, though. The sale price was only two or three bucks cheaper than what I'd gotten it for in the first place.

The point of which rambling nonsense is: I have a spare copy of Civilization IV if anyone wants it.

Tri, is it cool if you hook me up with Little Inferno?

My steam handle is adus_bay.

Also Skills, I like one player narratives. I'm a sucker for a good indie game and art style. Not the biggest fan of FPS in general although I enjoyed Quake and Unreal a lot back in the day. My wishlist has Fez and Limbo if that helps out.

Dark Nation Jul 15, 2013 04:07 AM

I hope during the final day we get encore sales again.

Still unsure if 40% off is the sweet spot for Remember Me and Metro Last Light or if I should sit on those and wait it out.

Rogue Legacy will hopefully show up on a daily or flash or something, that'd be excellent.

e: And but also re: Planescape. Ought I dive straight in, or maybe start off with something a bit more accessible like the first or second Fallout?

map car man words telling me to do things Jul 17, 2013 01:45 AM

Maybe start with the first Baldur's Gate if you're unfamiliar with Infinity engine RPGs. Fallout can be pretty hard unless you know what you're doing. Those games allow you to mess up big time.

Planescape a lot more player friendly and "easy" I'd say, considering your character is an immortal and just wakes up on a slab if they fall in combat. There's just tons and tons and tons of dialogue and text to read, if that's an issue for someone.

I have guides for installing both with mods and fixes and all in my gurnal:

Planescape

Baldur's Gate

Although the links in the baldur's gate instructions are probably 404 by now. I'll need to reup some files when I get home.

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Jul 17, 2013 07:22 AM

I definitely got more than $3 worth out of it, but if you're actually going to pay for it I will warn you that it's, you know, indie, with all the rough edges and unpolished spots that implies.

If we're talking about hidden gems, I can't help but notice that many of you don't own Alpha Prime yet.

YO PITTSBURGH MIKE HERE Jul 17, 2013 12:20 PM

Thanks mostly to Acer, my additions to my game collection ended up being:

Antichamber
Castle Crashers
Deadlight
Dust: An Elysian Tail
Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition
No Time to Explain
Stealth Bastard Deluxe
System Shock 2
The Cave
The Walking Dead
Ys I & II Chronicles+

I kept wishing they'd discount Kentucky Route Zero a bit more.

The unmovable stubborn Jul 22, 2013 11:21 AM

Might spring for Dishonored if enough of my Market crap sells in the next hour, but as it stands here's my haul since the sale started. Feel bad about not doing any gifting but I can't afford to get everyone Titan Quest so... wait. Wait, I know a lovely game cheap enough to afford many copies.

Mo0, Shade, Deni, Helloween, Hyde, Hawkeye, Term, Nutty: Enjoy the lovely world of Alpha Prime.

(Omagnus got away clean, the Mac-using bastard)

Scent of a Grundle Jul 22, 2013 01:35 PM

Games purchased:

- Civ V Gold upgrade (effectively just Gods and Knigs)
- Binding of Isaac
- System Shock 2
- Dishonored
- Universe Sandbox
- Borderlands 2 Mechromancer and Psycho
- Sonic and All-Stars DLC
- Antichamber
- Counter-Strike: GO
- Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (actually bought just before the sale, but close enough)
- Chivalry: Medieval Warfare

Games received as gifts:

- Dinner Date (Acer)
- Alpha Prime (Pang)
- Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter Gift (also Acer)
- Natural Selection II (Helloween)

Also bought a few games as gifts, mostly for my little brother.

Also, almost beat Mom in Binding of Isaac on my first time making it to her, 7th run grand total, which i'm told is pretty much unheard of. So i'm a little proud of myself for that.

Sousuke Jul 22, 2013 01:48 PM

Not much here, due to MONEY but hey:

- Tomb Raider (the new one)
- FEZ (Fezzes are cool.)
- Awesomenauts (Nutty)
- Dinner Date (Acer)
- Castle Crashers (Also Acer)
- Worms Revolution (ALSO Acer)
- Thomas Was Alone (from a Twitter Friend)

So yeah, definitely not as much of a haul as some of you guys, but damned if I'm not gonna get ANYTHING on the Steam sales.

Oh yeah, and if anyone doesn't have me on Steam and wants to add me, I'm Yggdrasilly over there.

FatsDomino Jul 22, 2013 03:11 PM

Here's what I purchased this time:

Vemp Jul 23, 2013 03:39 AM

I think I got the medal for the shortest list.

- Left for Dead 2
- CS: GO
- The Last Remnant

Scent of a Grundle Jul 23, 2013 04:18 AM

I waffled on the Last Remnant all week, and in the end decided the odds of me not playing it were too good. Let me know if you think it's worth going for next time it comes on sale.

Vemp Jul 23, 2013 04:45 AM

Sure thing, I played it before on the 360 before and was turned off by the lag and slow loading times. I read the PC version fixed all of that and added some more features. I'll update you once I get on it.

I do regret not buying Deus Ex HR when it was on sale. Q and I were talking about it on chat earlier today, and I just learned a few more things that made me admire this game even more. I'm definitely gonna pick it up when it goes on sale again.

Xyzz Jul 23, 2013 10:27 AM

Haven't played that one yet (i got distracted by Dust... that one is truly an amazing piece of art <3), but what I've seen so far was really fun.
Although I again didn't manage to play a game that's supposedly supportive of a sneaky way in that fashion... I managed about half a minute of calmly and patiently observing guard routes, plotting my way, "geeeez, way too boring. I'm just going to shoot ya'll".

Scent of a Grundle Jul 23, 2013 01:31 PM

I really like Deus Ex: HR. Also, being sneaky is often more about choosing to use the non-lethal weapons and picking off the one or two guys who are in your way than about going entirely unnoticed. But i've found there's usually a path that makes it plausible, at least.

RacinReaver Jul 23, 2013 05:01 PM

Vemp, I beat you, I wound up not buying anything. :(

Was too busy finally playing through The Witcher. The game was fun, probably enjoyed it more than Oblivion, but still oh god combat was so buggy.

Maybe I'll try to stream some of these steam games I bought so you guys can see how bad I am at gaming.

Anyone else get Great Giana Sisters when it was the daily for $3? Recommend a good controller or maybe an adapter to use either my 360 or PS3 controller on my PC? Also anyone interested in doing some Borderlands/Borderlands 2 at some point?

YO PITTSBURGH MIKE HERE Jul 23, 2013 10:11 PM

I bought that so probably, yes. I've only played it for about half an hour, but I could invest some time in it in the near future.

e: Also I know what I said about "action games" but I've been playing Rogue Legacy and long periods of my day have been going missing. The manner in which you adjust to the difficulty through learning enemy behavior rather than piling on upgrades reminds me of Dark Souls. Which is just about my favorite game.

Giana is good, I think they even released an easy mode recently if you have no functioning manhogans.

As for circlebox controllers, wired will work out of the box and wireless needs a dongle. Officials exist and fine, but you can find perfectly functional chinese knockoff ones on deal extreme or something for cheaper.

Shipping might take 3 weeks though.

I use the DS3 Tool program to connect a PS3 controller via USB. It works well enough, but I'd like to get a wired 360 controller at some point to simplify things a bit.

Single Elbow Jul 24, 2013 12:43 AM

I'd wholly suggest just getting the 360 wired controller, period. The length of the cord is quite long and it's pretty much plug and play. Plus, they're.. what, 30 bucks?

map car man words telling me to do things Jul 24, 2013 02:27 AM

Just anyone who has used a PS3 controller on their PC and wants to switch to 360, if you used motionjoy, be sure to properly uninstall and remove its drivers before plugging the 360 controller or it might not install the drivers correctly.

We were playing Monaco on the same computer with three controllers and the game would freeze after a few minutes of playing. Eventually we found out my friend had used motionjoy before and even though he thought he'd uninstalled it, it hadn't actually been removed and was messing with the 360 drivers. After removing all signs of motionjoy through the device manager, the 360 controller was properly recognized as an ms 360 controller, installed properly and the game no longer froze with three controllers plugged in at the same time.

RacinReaver Jul 24, 2013 03:55 PM

Not sure if anyone played the first, but just got a beta key from one of my Steam friends for Payday 2, and it's really fun. Way harder than the first, leveling up is a little more interesting, AI is massively better, and we've seen a ton of variety on missions. Guns feel a lot more substantial, too. Altogether it's definitely a big improvement over the first one.

Anyone interested in a four pack (figure I might wait until a few days before release in case it goes on sale randomly)?

SuperSonic Dec 22, 2013 04:31 PM

Changed the thread title so it can be reused. The Holiday sale started this past Thursday.

So far I've grabbed Electronic Super Joy, Arkham Origins Season Pass, pre-purchased Metal Gear Rising, Legend of Dungeon, and the Sleeping Dogs Collection.

Have anyone else's wallets taken a hit?

Edit: Well I THOUGHT I changed the title, guess that's only reflected on my first post. D'oh!

Double Edit: Whoever changed the thread title, thanks! Soooooooooo true.

Vemp Dec 22, 2013 10:18 PM

There's some pretty tempting deals so far. But I'm holding out for 90% discount deals. I'm pretty sure I won't be playing them anytime soon, might as well buy a game at it's cheapest price.

Franky Mikey Dec 23, 2013 01:39 AM

I'm not talking to anybody who missed La-Mulana -90% yesterday.

Aside from that and on a more serious note, so far I've picked up The Binding of Isaac (with DLC), Deus Ex HR: Director's Cut (supposedly includes bonus content which I've never seen so hey), Papers Please and The Walking Dead. I hope I can get started on at least a couple of them before the end of the holidays.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Dec 23, 2013 06:30 AM

I bought KOTOR2 so I can play it with the patch that makes it a whole game rather than the comedy Xbox version that doesn't have an ending.

The Walking Dead will take you about 6-8 hours to finish and you can't get stuck, so it's a safe bet for one of those "boy, it sure would be nice to finish a game I start for once" titles.

Little Brenty Brent Brent Dec 23, 2013 01:29 PM

On the other end of the spectrum: La-Mulana. Ahahahahahahaha

SuperSonic Dec 24, 2013 02:15 PM

Amazon has Assassin's Creed III: Deluxe for $15 and Injustice Ultimate for $20. I wanted to wait and see if Steam would match it with their daily deals today, but since they didn't I wasn't going to pass those up.

Now to see if Steam matches Castle of Illusion either tonight or tomorrow. If not, I'm nabbing it from Amazon for $3.75.

I'm hoping Steam will have some kind of Lego sale before this is over. I've been waiting for Lego Star Wars Complete and Lego Star Wars III to come down for months.

Vemp Dec 26, 2013 02:21 AM

I bought Borderlands 2 for $7.5, and I'm really doing my best not to buy any more games.

Deus Ex HR is $4.5 today, and Mass Effect is for $9.99 :(

I now also have 4 snow globe cards.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Dec 26, 2013 04:25 PM

I was tempted by Borderlands 2 but it's free on PSPlus this month and lord only knows I have enough games as it is.

The unmovable stubborn Dec 27, 2013 08:26 PM

I was sticking pretty well to my policy of not buying anything with a discount less than 80%. Then all the pinballs were on sale. And the Spelunky. And the Dark Souls. Oh no. Oh dear.

PS everyone get some Pinball FX2 tables because I have stomped mudholes in Shade and Deni's scores and I demand challengers. Except Civil War. Deni can keep the Civil War crown because I cannot bear to listen to that table's intro one more goddamn time. Do not buy Civil War, it is the most obnoxious thing.

(PS Hyde is the raddest and gifted me Gone Home, looking forward to sweet 90's housekeeping adventures)

No. Hard Pass. Dec 29, 2013 09:01 AM

I was actually going to argue about my destroying you on the civil war table. Thank you for letting me have that.

Also, I will now play more pinball, so as to be less of a disappointment to you.

I'm so sorry.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Dec 29, 2013 07:56 PM

Goddamn I suck at pinball. :(

LIAR Dec 30, 2013 11:19 AM

I've only played pinball on steam once. I wish my scores could be transferred from the ps3 over.

Don't worry, Pang. Your scores will be challenged.

SuperSonic Dec 30, 2013 11:51 AM

So are there any tables you guys would recommend purchasing?

The unmovable stubborn Dec 30, 2013 01:29 PM

Quote:

The problem with this is that a lot of the best tables are only buyable in bundles with tables that are sort of eh.

Balance of the Force pack is probably worth it just to have Starfighter Assault, which is probably my single favorite table now.

Marvel Pinball Original pack is pretty damn solid, the Iron Man table isn't incredible but it's not bad either.

Zen Classics pack is pretty skippable. At best Tesla is... inoffensive.

Avengers Chronicles pack is all winners, if I were to pick up just one pack I'd probably grab this one. Good mechanical variety between the 4 tables here.

Vengeance and Virtue pack gets you Ghost Rider. The X-Men and Thor tables are sort of uninspired, but: Ghost Rider. Suck it up.

Star Wars pack is pretty bland and I wouldn't bother unless you're That Guy Who Buys Everything With Star Wars On It.

Pinball FX2 Core Pack is... maybe worth it to get Biolab? Everything else is take or leave.

Epic Quest just sort of exists. The guy on the logo is rocking the Dreamworks Eyebrow pretty hard and that's roughly the level of cleverness you can expect.

Paranormal is just charming as all hell.

Civil War doesn't seem that great to me mechanically, setting aside the constant, ever-repeating VO that never stops. Ever. Until you ragequit.

IT WASN'T SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE THIS

Captain America is everything a Captain America table should be. Punch Nazis get Cubes lead Commandos get rad.

Ms. Splosion Man is an adorable bit of score-inflated candy, it loves throwing million-point bonuses at you for basically no effort on your part. Depending on your sense of humor the VO work on this might grate a bit but I like it.

Earth Defense more or less gets a free pass from me on the theme alone, but if the theme's not your bag you might find there's not a whole lot to do here.

Don't own Doctor Strange, Excalibur, Fantastic Four; have barely touched Mars but it seems okay.

THIEF Dec 30, 2013 06:17 PM

I just play the free table. I'm trying to beat Shade's score on it, but I suck at pinball.

LIAR Dec 31, 2013 11:27 AM

I... played the free table on steam? I don't remember doing this. I may have to go back and increase my score.

SuperSonic Jun 18, 2014 05:11 PM

So unless Valve is trolling us (weekly deals ending sooner than normal, etc.), it looks like the Steam Summer Sale will begin tomorrow, June 19th.

Any games you guys are hoping go down in price and by how much?

For me, the number 1 and 2 games on my list are Lego Star Wars The Complete Saga and Lego Star Wars III. They have stayed at $20 for a long time and were not marked down at all during Steam's Lego and Star Wars sales that happened this past year.

It might be a long shot, but I'm hoping for a 50% price cut on both games (I might be willing to go 25%).

There are other games on my wishlist I'm hoping will go down like Watch Dogs (Deadpool went on sale last year a couple of weeks after release so this is possible), Final Fantasy III (under $10), and Blazblue (under $5) to name a few, but the Lego Star Wars games are top priority.

Edit: Might wait on Watch Dogs until they fix it.

Helloween Jun 18, 2014 09:59 PM

Honestly i might just log out of Steam all together for the duration. Sadly broke at the moment.

But knowing me i'll probably break once or twice. I've been itching to play The Wolf Among us for a while now, as well as The Banner Saga. I may just go down my wishlist starting tomorrow and see if there are any irresistible deals.

I have also been recently been playing a lot more multiplayer games with other youtubers or just with friends, so if some names come to me by way of associations i may bring myself to make some purchases.

Franky Mikey Jun 19, 2014 01:59 AM

SuperSonic, since most of what you've listed are console ports, I would recommend that you check customer feedback very carefully before picking up said items. I've read horrible things about Watch Dogs in that respect; as for the LEGO franchise, I picked up LEGO LotR during the last sale and the game is full of issues, one of which sadly has no known solution and terminally freezes the game after 10-15 minutes. The console version was patched but not the PC one, i.e. I bought something unplayable and unsupported. I hope for your sake that the SW games don't suffer from the same issues.

To answer the thread, I'll be hoping for discounts on coop oldies like Borderlands 2 and Magicka. Not really going to buy 50 games this time around, I already have enough backloggery for the entire summer (recently picked up Spelunky and Braid among others). :)

SuperSonic Jun 19, 2014 06:16 AM

Yeah, originally Watch Dogs was going to be a day one buy for me but I held off because I was going to be picking up Mario Kart 8 three days later. I had a feeling I would be playing MK8 more than that.

I have yet to regret that decision. I've been keeping an eye out on the most helpful reviews on Steam for Watch Dogs, all of them negative.

One of the most screwed up parts I've read is that basically, nVidia is in bed with Ubisoft so if you have ATi hardware then Watch Dogs isn't gonna like it which means my desktop is okay but my laptop is screwed.

Then there's UPlay, which needs to go die in a fire.

Blazblue seems to be fine but I haven't checked the others yet so I'll do that when I get a chance.

Also, for anyone looking to pre-order the Ultra Street Fighter IV upgrade Green Man Gaming's 20% coupon works on it so you can bring it down to $12.00.

SailorDaravon Jun 20, 2014 08:22 PM

Has anyone here played Risk of Rain, any recommendations? Had it on my Wishlist and it just dropped to $2.50 which might as well be free.

Tails Jun 20, 2014 10:41 PM

What thj fuck is that game aeven about

I asume some kind of weather forecaster FPS

nuttyturnip Jun 20, 2014 10:49 PM

Risk of Rain is a no brainer at $2.50. It's a great pick up and play game.

Little Brenty Brent Brent Jun 21, 2014 02:05 AM

I hope Street Fighter 4 goes on sale, because I beat Erik at it a whole bunch of times and I want him to buy it.

The problem with Blazblue is that it's a terrible game, or at least the Vita version was.

I'll look at the sale but with 51 uninstalled games in my Steam library already, a years worth of unplayed PsPlus games and a stack of unopened 360 games on my shelf it's unlikely I'll feel the need to buy anything, especially as Space Hulk was in the latest humble bundle.

dagget Jun 22, 2014 11:40 AM

Was gifted One Way Heroics, it's pretty interesting and brutal. I may try to stream that at some point.

Notable entries I've seen: Skyrim Legendary Edition for like $14, FF 3 for $10 and looks like 7 and 8 are roughly $4/each.

Makes me kinda sad I'm as flat broke as I am that I'm probably going to miss the majority of this sale this year, but it's a blessing cause I have so much stuff unplayed from last year lol.

It runs on like 30 FPS which is choppy as hell. Or not too bad. Has no multiplayer though, or the service is lacking.

That's because you're supposed to play it on an arcade stick, not a controller. You might as well turn on Stylish mode if you're playing it on Vita, miss all the technicality (and the beauty) of pulling off combos.

THIEF Jun 23, 2014 11:14 PM

Aw snap. Gone home is 85% off on the flash sale. Gonna pick that one up.

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Jun 24, 2014 01:27 PM

Ah, Nidhogg is on sale for $5 today. Should probably pick up that and Rogue Legacy while it's in Yesterday's Big Deals.

The unmovable stubborn Jun 29, 2014 12:41 PM

SuperSonic has done a noble gentleman's deed and increased the number of Dragons at my disposal. In fact, so many additional Dragons are now under my command that my total supply of Dragons has, in fact, been Doubled. This is an alarming increase in overall Dragon levels.

In other news, [YOUR NAME HERE] BUY STREET FIGHTER

SuperSonic Jun 29, 2014 09:32 PM

So here's what I ended up nabbing:

The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director's Cut
The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition
Halo Spartan Assault
White Noise Online (gifted, pretty much an online multiplayer Slender)
Octodad - Dadliest Catch
The Stanley Parable
Payday 2
Metal Slug 3
Eryi's Action (gifted)
Final Fantasy III
gone home
Scribblenauts Unmasked
Awesomenauts (gifted)
Tabletop Simulator (gifted)
Pac-Man Museum & Ms. Pac-Man DLC (gifted)
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Blacklist
Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga (gifted)
Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars (gifted)
Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition
Kingpin - Life of Crime
The Golf Club
The Impossible Game
Double Dragon: Neon
Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag Gold Edition
Assassin's Creed Liberation HD w/ Bonus Pack

I also preordered the Ultra Street Fighter IV upgrade on Green Man Gaming (25% off coupon that runs out Monday brought it down to $11.25).

I held off on Watch Dogs even though it went on sale, twice, for 20% off. I've still got 8 items on my wish list (1 of which doesn't come out until 2015), but overall it turned out to be a good sale,.

The Plane Is A Tiger Jun 29, 2014 09:56 PM

In addition to a whole crapload of other games I picked up BattleBlock Theater today. It was a lot of fun on 360, and it looks like several people are picking it up on Steam for co-op while it's cheap.

As for the rest:
- Outlast
- One Way Heroics
- Deponia
- Nimble Quest
- Super Amazing Wagon Adventure (I love this game so much)
- Octodad: Dadliest Catch
- DLC Quest
- Shadowrun Returns
- The Stanley Parable
- Always Sometimes Monsters
- Escape Goat 2
- Skyborn
- Year Walk

FatsDomino Jun 30, 2014 12:36 AM

I... I... I don't wanna talk about it...

Bernard Black Jun 30, 2014 04:34 AM

Didn't get much:

Skyrim
The Stanley Parable
Tomb Raider
Orion: Dino Hoarde
Mass Effect 1+2
Borderlands GOTY + 2

Really should have got Octodad; the multiplayer sounds AMAZING.

also hi there

packrat Jun 30, 2014 12:30 PM

Apparently I managed to scrape together enough for a few games this year. Picked up:

- Hitman: Absolution
- Dark Souls
- Super Hexagon
- Call of Juarez
- Far Cry 3
- System Shock 2
- Payday 2 (does anyone still play this? or has the novelty worn off already?)
- Shadowrun Returns
- Ikaruga
- Puppygames' Ultrabundle (Revenge of the Titans, Ultratron, Titan Attacks!, and Droid Assault)

Really bummed I didn't see the post about the USF4 coupon until just now though. Otherwise, I woulda gotten it

Little Brenty Brent Brent Jun 30, 2014 01:16 PM

Risk of Rain
- I like pretty much anything with co-op

Orion: Dino Horde
- This looked hilariously awful for a Game Night game. So you all that missed out on this, better pick it up at some point.

Gone Home
- Heard neat things, was cheap.

Blackwell Bundle
- Indie adventure series on the cheap? Sign me up.

Syberia Collection
- More adventure games, yes.

Brothers
- I've heard a lot of great things about this. Looking forward to playing it.

Banished
- I like building sims a lot and I'm a sucker for the medieval aesthetic so this was an easy buy.

System Shock 2
- Haven't played in ages and this was probably the easiest way to make it work again.

One Way Heroics
- Pang said to buy it and it was 87 cents, so.

Chivalry: Deadliest Warrior
- We talk about going back to this a lot for Game Night, and we haven't yet but when we do I'll be READY.

Shadowrun Returns
- Shadowrun has a cool setting, so it was impossible to pass it up for the couple bucks it was going for.

YO PITTSBURGH MIKE HERE Jun 30, 2014 02:35 PM

Too many.
  • Far Cry 3 - Deluxe Edition
  • Spelunky
  • Mount & Blade: Complete
  • Risk of Rain
  • Castle Crashers
  • Long Live the Queen lol
  • LA Noir - Complete Edition
  • Broken Age
  • Garry's Mod lol capo didn't have gmod wat a fag
  • Shadowrun Returns + Dragonfall
  • Goat Simulator
  • Year Walk
  • Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition

My Steam name is HumblyMagnificent if I've neglected to add anyone.

SuperSonic Jun 30, 2014 05:04 PM

packrat, the 25% off coupon has been extended until Thursday so go grab it while you can.

Green Man Gaming

Vemp Jul 1, 2014 01:37 AM

I only bought a few games. The new job isn't giving me enough time to play games :(

- Shadowrun Returns
- Costume Quest
- Deus Ex HR Director's Cut (only bought this for future replay)

Boo-kun Jul 1, 2014 02:17 AM

Got Nether, Rogue Legacy, PAYDAY2 4-pack and few copies of Hammerwatch from gog.com flash sale <3

Now I only need to get some nerds together for cooping :tpg:

SuperSonic Sep 12, 2014 05:01 PM

Anyone looking to preorder Batman: Arkham Knight, greenmangaming has a 25% off voucher code which brings it down to $45 until next Friday, September 19th: 25% off Selected Titles

SuperSonic Dec 17, 2014 08:17 PM

There are several signs that the Steam Winter Sale will be starting tomorrow, December 18th, at 1:00pm EST.

Prepare your wallets.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Dec 18, 2014 01:32 PM

Sale has started.

Euro Truck Simulator 2, 85% off confirmed.

Perhaps more interestingly you can now get the PC version of Last Remnant for £4 so I'll probably start there...

Additional Spam:
Haha, Last Remnant is included in the Square Christmas Surprise bundle I forgot I bought a few weeks ago so won't be buying that. I also got Thief Master Thief edition, Murdered Soul Suspect, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, Deux Ex the Fall and Nosgoth Founders Warlords Pack. I played the beta of Nosgoth and wasn't a fan so look out for the Steam code for that in my journal at some point soon.

Might buy Civilization: Beyond Earth when I get paid next week.

No. No, that is the wrong answer. You are always supposed to buy the Last Remnant.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Dec 18, 2014 03:15 PM

I think buying it twice probably qualifies me as more keen than your average gamer as it is. If I beat the Ultimate Conqueror in the PC version too then I'll definitely have spent too much time playing this game...

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Dec 18, 2014 07:05 PM

That game rules

Also the PC version is MARKEDLY DIFFERENT in many subtle and not-so-subtle ways so you should totally play it again

SailorDaravon Dec 18, 2014 07:09 PM

Yeah, I almost finally started up on the 360 version of TLR recently then looking into it found that they made a lot of quality of life and other improvements on the PC version.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Dec 18, 2014 07:32 PM

Well that's why I was going to buy it, I know a lot of bosses have way more hp for example but you can form parties of only named characters so it plays quite differently by all accounts in that respect at least. Also I live in hope that if enough people play it they'll make another one.

If you have a login with GreenManGaming, they have a VIP section where you can pre-order several games with Steam keys for 25% off. I couldn't find anything that stated what was needed to qualify for VIP except you needed to login.

This includes Batman Arkham Knight which brings it down to $44.99 and Resident Evil HD for $14.99.

Unfortunately you can't stack the 20% off voucher on the main page with it. Sorry, I already tried. :)

SuperSonic May 4, 2015 05:50 PM

Any Steam users ever try Ice and how was it for you?

Ice - Automatically add ROMs to Steam

I've been using EmuCenter2 as my collective emulation frontend (minus Steam) but I stumbled upon that and LaunchBox and they both look promising.

SuperSonic Jun 22, 2015 04:42 PM

Anyone who is still hesitant about pre-ordering Batman: Arkham Knight for PC, it's 40% off at Green Man Gaming. Activates on Steam.

This brings it down approximately to $36 for just the game, 53.98 for the Premium version (game with season pass).

Just use the code BETHEB-ATMANG-MG40PC

Was talking to Styphon a few nights ago on Steam about Steam stuff.

AcerBandit: like i skipped this summer sale because it took place during the meet
AcerBandit: which is probably a blessing
AcerBandit: i think i looked at it one day and was like yeah... i own all of these already and didn't look at it again
Lord Styphon: A pity. The point and click game thing was pretty fun.
Lord Styphon: I ran into Skills in the game I joined right before he flew off to the meet.
AcerBandit: oh dang i missed out on an actual game that tied it together?
AcerBandit: what'll those rascals at valve dream up next? an actual legit new game maybe?!
AcerBandit: with the number 3 in the title?
Lord Styphon: If Valve really wanted to play around with their reputaton, they'd release a game with the number 10 in the title.
AcerBandit: Gabe Needs 10 Big Pink Cookies
Lord Styphon: Achievement Unlocked: "It Was Worth the Weight"
AcerBandit: ^^^^^

Steam having an Autumn sale now. Picked up a few gems:

Fable Anniversary
Hyperdimension Neptunia Re:Birth 1
Grim Fandango Remastered
A few really cheap indy RPGs.

Sorely tempted with Gauntlet Legends being $5 though.

Maybe this will actually get me off my ass to stream for you guys.
