New Features to New Leaf
Play as the Mayor! Build Public Work Projects around your village such as benches, fountains, campsites, bridges, new buildings, and more. Also, set a town Ordinance to control shop hours and more.

The Island returns from the original Gamecube version with mini games to play online with friends.

A new Main Street area across the train tracks with plenty of shops and other new buildings. If you played City Folk, this is basically a much improved version of the City.

New customization features allow you to add custom pattern designs to many furniture items like couches, pillows, chairs, and more.

Use QR Codes for easy sharing of custom pattern designs. I expect everyone in this thread to share!

Many of the holidays have been reimagined for this version. New versions of Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and more are available.

A LOT of new furniture and furniture sets. The developers say there's about 50% more furniture over City Folk. If you've played Animal Crossing before, you know that means a lot! Some of the new sets include the Balloon series, Mermaid series, and Ice series.

Decorate your village even more with new flowers, bushes, and bamboo.

The outside of your house doesn't have to be same as everyone else. With the new exterior parts available from Tom Nook, you can change your door, fence, mailbox, roof, and more!

The characters have grown taller! Say goodbye to just plain old regular shirts... Now there's pants, short sleeved shirts, long sleeved shirts, dresses, skirts, and more.

You can swim. You can stack fruit. Next-gen is finally here.

The Village is, well, your village! It's the place you'll be spending most of your time in New Leaf at. Here's a list of some of the buildings you'll find around town:

Re-Tail

http://www.nintendo.co.uk/games/oms/...eaf/scr_20.jpg

A humble recycling shop in your village operated by two new Alpaca characters named Reese and Cyrus. Sell your items to Reese if you're too lazy to head out to Main Street or purchase new furniture. You can even put your own items up for sale at the store for the villagers or friends online to purchase. It's kind of similar to the Flea Market from the past games.

Town Hall

http://www.nintendo.co.uk/games/oms/...eaf/scr_01.jpg

The base of your operations as Mayor of the village! With your fancy office and eager secretary Isabelle, you can start the construction of Public Work Projects and enact ordinances.

Town Tree Plaza

http://twinkle-v.c.blog.so-net.ne.jp...i3-130228a.jpg

The Town Tree Plaza is the base of the many holidays, events, and visitors you'll discover in your time playing Animal Crossing.. Whenever something is happening in your town, head over to the Town Tree Plaza! It's also where you accomplish your first act as Mayor: Planting the town tree. It even grows as you progress through the game!

Your House

http://www.nintendo.co.uk/games/oms/.../scr_02_01.jpg

Arguably one of the most addicting aspects of Animal Crossing is decorating your ever expanding house. With [spoilersa6[/spoilersa] whole rooms in this version, you'll have space for everything! It doesn't come cheap though with the fully expanded house running 7 million bells total.

Coffee Shop (Public Work Project - Unlocked Later)

Spoiler:
Join Brewster in his new standalone Coffee Shop! If you get friendly enough with him, you might even find yourself working a part time job as a barista at the shop.

Police Station (Public Work Project - Unlocked Later)

Spoiler:
It's back from the Gamecube version! Choose to build either the Modern station with Copper or the Classic station with Brooker. Inside you'll find a convenient lost and found.

Reset Surveillance Center (Public Work Project - Unlocked Later)

Spoiler:
If you choose to, you can build a manhole which will give you access to Resetti's Surveillance Center on certain nights! Inside, you'll find Resetti and his brother. Talk to them enough and you might just get their pictures!

Campsite (Public Work Project - Unlocked Later)

Spoiler:
Build a campsite in your village and you might find some new villagers setting up a tent or igloo (depending on the season) in your town! Talk to them a lot and they may just choose to move in to your village properly.

The Main Street shopping area is where you'll do the majority of your shopping in New Leaf. In addition, there's also non-shopping buildings located here such as the Museum. A great aspect of the game is that new buildings will be constructed and others will be remodeled as you play and accomplish goals.

Here's a brief list of the many buildings you'll find in the Main Street:

Able Sisters

The Able Sisters shop is where you'll head for all of your fashion needs. They sell shirts, pants, dresses, skirts, hats, glasses, and other accessories.

A new unique feature to New Leaf is the ability to share your custom created patterns using QR codes. This feature is very useful for sharing patterns compared to the previous methods.

Nooklings Store (Timmy & Tommy)

Previous players of the series will remember Tom Nook's shop but in New Leaf, his assistants Timmy & Tommy have taken over operation completely with Tom Nook
as a proper real estate agent. This shop is where you'll go to purchase new tools, furniture, wallpaper, carpet, K.K. Slider records, and more.

Museum

Head over to the Main Street Museum to donate fish, bugs, fossils, paintings, and statues!

Nook's Homes

At Nook's Homes, you'll find Tom Nook's brand new official housing agency. Here you can purchase parts to customize the exterior of your house including doors, fences, mailboxes, roofs, and more!

Photo Booth

For a small fee, this photo booth will take a picture of you for your ID card.

Post Office

The Post Office offers mail and this is where you'll pay your debt to Tom Nook through an ATM. You can also pick up DLC items through the internet here.

Club LOL (Unlocked Later)

Dream Suite (Public Work Project - Unlocked Later)

Fortune House (Public Work Project - Unlocked Later)

Garden Shop (Unlocked Later)

Happy Home Showcase (Unlocked Later)

Kicks (Unlocked Later)

Museum - Second Floor (Public Work Project - Unlocked Later)

Those who played the original Animal Crossing on N64/Gamecube may remember the Island. It's back in New Leaf (no Gameboy Advance required!) with a selection of Island Tours (mini-games?) to play online with either your friends or random players through Club Tortimer. These vary from simple bug hunts to the more complex Hide & Seek and Fruit Maze tours. There's even an item shop on the Island operated by Kappn's family, you'll need to earn medals from the Island Tours to purchase the items.

http://www.nintendo.co.uk/games/oms/...eaf/scr_04.jpghttp://www.nintendo.co.uk/games/oms/...eaf/scr_08.jpg

Another benefit of Tortimer Island is the summer season all year long, providing the ideal location to hunt bugs and fish during the winter. Also new to the series is the ability to swim in the ocean either on the Island or back home at your Village. Don't forget your swimsuit!

Are you new to Animal Crossing or coming back after a long break? In this section, I've written down some handy tips and tricks for your first days in New Leaf.

Make Sure Your Clock is Accurate

Before you start playing, please double check and be sure that the date and time on your 3DS is as accurate as possible! Animal Crossing is very reliant on the real-time clock, it won't be as fun if your date and time isn't accurate.

Choosing Your Face

At the opening of the game, you'll be asked a couple seemingly meaningless questions. Your answers to these questions decide the fate of your eyes and face for the game. You can't change the majority of this later down the line so if your look is important to you, consider using this handy Face Guide. Just answer the questions as stated in the guide for the face of your choice!

The Money Rock

You might notice there are a number of rocks around your town. But don't worry, they're not useless! Everyday in your village, one of these rocks will be the "money rock". If you find that rock and hit it with a shovel, money bags will come flying out for every shovel hit until the timer ends! You might even want to consider digging some holes behind you to maximize your return.

Where to Sell?

There's two shops... Re-Tail and Nookling Junction? But where do you sell your items? It depends. For most cases, you want to sell to Re-Tail for 20% more Bells than Nookling Junction. However, Re-Tail will charge you for them to take you trash and other items which don't give you Bells. Nookling Junction will take them for free. So keep that in mind.

Buried Treasure

Look around your town... do you see any "starfish" or "X" spots in the ground? Take out your shovel and get digging! If you find a fossil, don't go selling it ASAP. Head over to the Museum in Main Street to have your fossils examined by Blathers. You can either donate them to the Museum (which will yield rewards in the future) or head over to Re-Tail for some quick Bells. If you find a gyroid... well....

http://i.minus.com/ivlRmBQ0lUbHw.png

Can I play this game online with friends?

You certainly can! Almost everything that you can do solo, you can do with friends either online or through local play. Whether that's hanging out in your town, shopping at Main Street, or fishing and playing games on Tortimer Island.

What is Time Traveling/Time Travel in this game?

One of the fundamental aspects of Animal Crossing is that the game runs on a real-time clock. If you choose to, you can change the time on your 3DS or game to whatever you want, bypassing and ruining the real time aspect. In my opinion, this ruins the longevity of the game, and you'll find yourself growing bored of the game sooner. For this reason, many of us would rather not play with those who choose to time travel. Besides, you'll have more fun in the long run without it!

What's all this nonsense about not running? Why shouldn't I run?

Lots of people like to plant flowers around their village and even cross breed them for hybrid flowers. It's hard work and if you run through flowers, you'll weaken or even destroy them. So please, be careful where you run in other GAFer's towns. You're sure to piss people off if you ruin their flowers. Also, running causes grass wear and some don't like that either.

Is there StreetPass in this game? What does it do?

At the back of Main Street is the Happy Home Showcase. When your StreetPass a player with New Leaf, their house will appear in the Happy Home Showcase area. Feel free to take a look around their house for design inspiration and if you see an item you like, you may be able to order it for yourself!

Does this game use Play Coins? What for?

Play Coins can spent at the Nookling store to purchase Fortune Cookies for 2 coins each. When you open a Fortune Cookie, the fortune inside can then be traded for a Nintendo franchise item. These items range from a Samus Helmet to a Mario Coin to a Wii Fit Balance Board.

Does this version have real holidays?

Unlike the last portable version of Animal Crossing, this version offers all of the real holidays from the Gamecube plus many more. In fact, the gameplay of many of the holidays have been revamped to offer a new experience if you played them before.

How many save files are there?

Each copy of the game allows for a single village with four residents. (players) Only the first resident/player in the village can be the Mayor. For the best experience, I recommend playing with your own copy of the game with your own village to yourself, but that's not the say the game isn't fun in someone else's town too.

I hear there are new fruits in this version. Tell me about them?!?

Quote:

Main Village Fruit:
Apples
Oranges
Pears
Peaches
Cherries

Main Island Fruit:
Mangoes
Durians
Lychees
Lemons

Palm Tree Island Fruit:
Bananas
Coconuts

Other:
Persimmons
Bamboo
What's the appeal?

By doing those things every day, you can achieve something bigger, and you can also get a sense of satisfaction from it. By doing those everyday things over and over, it will deepen your experience in this game, creating a deeper, more meaningful life in the town.

Town Visiting Etiquette

When visiting the villages of other GFFers, you should keep the following etiquette in mind. If problems arise, we have to duke it out in real life at the MEET.

- Be careful with your axe. Don't cut down trees without permission!
- Be careful of where you run and leave flowers alone.
- If others are trying to trade, leave them alone and don't touch their items.

You have inspired me to be social again. I so intend on buying this in Maine.

Planning to get this myself.

Maybe this will break my 200 something hour streak playing Fire Emblem: Awakening. I have a bunch of friends getting this game, so being social won't even be an issue.

Unfortunately, I have to get it later in the day, or even that following Monday since I'm working an anime convention this weekend. :gonk:

Nah just playin. I figure a lot of people at the meet will have it, so I'll pick it up and try to play concurrently.

Radez Jun 15, 2013 10:35 PM

Just throwing this out there, but with a sufficient number of towns, if we posted indices of the turnip prices each Sunday morning, we could travel to the town with the lowest buying prices. Then if we update those indices each subsequent day, we could be reasonably assured to be able to find the town with the highest selling price. We could all earn significant returns, and potentially transform seed money of 100-200k bells into millions.

I intend to post my price tomorrow, although I have no idea if I'll be available to invite people to purchase there.

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Jun 16, 2013 12:20 AM

I love you Radez

Radez Jun 16, 2013 06:00 AM

My buying price is 95 bells. Anyone have lower?

SailorDaravon Jun 16, 2013 07:37 AM

109 here :/

nuttyturnip Jun 16, 2013 08:06 AM

99 in Nutville.

Radez Jun 16, 2013 08:12 AM

I added Daravon and Philia. I can open my town for internets if no one else has a lower price. If the average is 100, then the chances are good you can still get at least a 5% return.

Philia Jun 16, 2013 08:16 AM

102 here... but I JUST spent 700k on someone who has 91. FUCK YEAH.

Someone's retail last week was buying at 498... you read that right, 498 bells for turnips. Her town definitely got RAIDED real fast lmao.

I also added you Radez and hilarious mii btw. ;)

Radez Jun 16, 2013 08:38 AM

I need to figure out how to get invited to strangers' towns. I need to head out, so I'm just going to dump everything I have into the 95 bell turnips. I'll leave the town open so people can visit.

My flower gardens are shit because I didn't get a chance to do anything with them except water them two days ago.

Philia Jun 16, 2013 08:40 AM

LOL Radez, I'll do the gardens for you if you like. :)

Uh as an aside, I'm also moderating an ACNL chat (GAF), so if anyone would LOVE a faster/wider access for turnip prices I would suggest this chat. Pm me for the link.

Also, there was a higher price that is being said... 614 bells. My fucking god.

ALSO ALSO... this big spike trend is a popular theory. Thought I'll link it in here for yall to read. The basic gist of it is that if you have like say Reese buying at 163... its very highly likely you'll get a MUCH bigger number to change into right after that.

http://www.thonky.com/animal-crossin.../stalk-market/

Radez Jun 16, 2013 08:52 AM

Nice. My gate is open for, probably the next hour or so. I have to go get something to eat and then I'll probably head out into the city with Lucas for most of the day.

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Jun 16, 2013 09:44 AM

oh shit on my way radez

edit: got it

Mine was 108, for what it's worth.

Radez Jun 17, 2013 08:19 AM

Turnips are selling for 47 bells in my town. I hope their being so depressed is evidence of an enormous spike later on.

Philia Jun 17, 2013 12:23 PM

Lol, speaking of, someone made a record low of 42 today too. It was god damn hilarious.

FatsDomino Jun 17, 2013 01:09 PM

I missed out on buying turnips because of the roadtrip. However they're 86 Bells today.

I've thought about time traveling but keep putting it off because of the hassle and also that I shouldn't be so serious about this game.

The Plane Is A Tiger Jun 17, 2013 01:09 PM

Turnips are only selling for 85 bells in my town today. I missed out on buying them yesterday anyway due to being unconscious from Acer-aids most of the day, but I'll try to remember to check the prices for everyone else's sake.

Also, am I correct in assuming that we all have different island fruit? I think I have all the town fruits after the trading that went on during the Meet, but we never really checked each others' islands. Radez had mangoes and lychee, and I had lemons and durians.

I just ordered the guide from Amazon, so I can start going nuts marking off checklists when it gets here on Wednesday. That always ends up being my favorite part of Animal Crossing.

Radez Jun 17, 2013 01:14 PM

Mine are now 43, afternoon. I am optimistic though. The market can't tank for everyone. Wednesday or Thursday will be awesome.

Also, re: island fruit, when you do the tours, you spawn randomized islands which have all sorts of different fruits. I've picked up coconuts, lychee, mango, durians and lemons. Also bananas. It's to the point I'm not even sure it's worth it planting them all.

The islands ARE persistent though, tied to your town. So I owe Tritoch a basket of coconuts for the tree I murdered.

The Plane Is A Tiger Jun 17, 2013 01:23 PM

Don't worry, I've forgiven you for butchering my coconut tree. I'd forgotten that some bugs only spawn on tree stumps, so that coconut stump usually has a longhorn beetle sitting on it. If I wanted to plant more I've got the 3 trees growing on my town's beaches as well as all the other coconuts on my island.

OmagnusPrime Jun 17, 2013 04:03 PM

Turnips are selling for 63 bells in my town.

Additional Spam:
No idea if she's posted here yet, but they're bought for 108 bells each in Abby's town right now.

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Jun 17, 2013 06:22 PM

Current price is for 93 here.

Scent of a Grundle Jun 17, 2013 10:23 PM

Picked up the game today, so those of you goofs who haven't added me as a friend should get on that. (Skills, you may think you already have me as a friend - if so you are living a lie.) For those of you too lazy to go look it up, it's 4897 - 6001 - 5376.

I'm just getting started, but will keep an eye on the price of turnips anyway.

Additional Spam:
Note to anyone else wanting to get this game: don't try to start it late at night. Everything is closed. It is lame.

Turnip price is at 42. If i could buy them here, i would, but apparently you can't do that for some reason.

I think I've already got you added, but I'll double-check tomorrow. Last time I looked Qwarky was the only one who hadn't added me back.

Re-Tail is the last store to close at 11pm. Only the museum is open after that; at least with the starting shops.

You have to buy turnips from a boar lady that wanders through on Sunday mornings. The rest of the week is only for selling them, and they rot if you time travel.

OmagnusPrime Jun 18, 2013 06:27 AM

Turnips are selling for 102 in Pipton right now.

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Jun 18, 2013 07:12 AM

90 in the morning, so a slight dip. Hopefully someone's on a rising pattern or there's a lot of potential lost this week.

Radez Jun 18, 2013 08:16 AM

Prices change twice a day, once upon opening in the morning and again at noon. Ben, are your prices from the morning or afternoon?

My prices are at 40 this morning. I am optimistic that this is following the big spike pattern and this afternoon or tomorrow it will be huge. We will see. If anyone gets prices above 200 today I'd be interested in hearing about it.

Philia Jun 18, 2013 10:02 AM

Someone on GAF just got 604 bell price.

nuttyturnip Jun 18, 2013 01:46 PM

Ok, scratch that. Wifi hotspot isn't good enough for Animal Crossing. I'll open up tonight when I get home around 6:30pm.

Philia Jun 18, 2013 02:20 PM

And I've made off with 4.5 million today with that guy I mentioned earlier. :3 Best 700k spent. I gave him my 10% commission for it.

Radez Jun 18, 2013 04:29 PM

Is that the practice? If you're selling in someone else's town they get 10%? That seems steep.

I can understand some form of consideration if it's a total stranger fucking up his friends list so other people can take advantage of his prices, but 10% of your gains means substantially reduces your margins if you're playing in the low risk area of 50-100% increases,

Philia Jun 18, 2013 07:01 PM

LOL Radez and CS got rich AT THE LAST MINUTE too. :3

Radez Jun 18, 2013 08:35 PM

Props for your help. I don't think I'll do that again though. I feel bad for the people who missed out because I basically cut in line with your help. Also, it was pretty intense serious-business mode.

I'm still going to post prices tomorrow for people who haven't sold. But yeah, I want a solid gold toilet now.

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Jun 18, 2013 08:58 PM

Yeah, not even going to reinvest it. Doing that is a little silly.

Just going to blow it on the bridge I'm building and call it that.

SailorDaravon Jun 18, 2013 09:22 PM

I wish I had enough money to buy turnips, I need to just spend all day Saturday just grinding the island to get like a million bells, then go in heavy Sunday morning. I've never had more than about 150k :(

Radez Jun 18, 2013 09:30 PM

the problem is the interface is really limiting. you can only stack 100 turnips per inventory slot, so if you invest 1M bells then you're looking at approximately 9 full inventories. That's a lot of trips back and forth to the locker in someone's town. Especially if the internet swarms like it did.

OmagnusPrime Jun 19, 2013 04:31 AM

Not that anyone cares because of illicit turnip trading, but morning price is 168 bells.

Radez Jun 19, 2013 12:13 PM

This morning mine were 33 and this afternoon they are 28. Boo.

Scent of a Grundle Jun 19, 2013 01:03 PM

Turnip price in my town is at 175 bells for the afternoon. Also, does the guy sleeping in the back of the ReTail ever wake up?

Philia Jun 19, 2013 02:04 PM

Yeah, sell enough shit to Reese and he'll wake up. 192 bells here. Slightly lower than this morning.

Oh my god.

Mine were 189 this afternoon. Didn't wake up early enough to check the morning prices.

Since I sold half of mine yesterday for a little less (179 bells), I'm wondering if I should hold out for tomorrow to see if they'll go a little higher.

FatsDomino Jun 19, 2013 02:39 PM

I wasn't able to nab turnips this Sunday but if anyone's interested apparently some guy on /v/ has them selling for 315 bells. If you're willing to risk it go ahead and share your friend code.

redacted link to /v/

Philia Jun 19, 2013 03:10 PM

Another friend of mine on the GAF chat has 574 bells for it. So you're better off coming to me. :3

FatsDomino Jun 19, 2013 03:15 PM

I'd come to your town but apparently we aren't friends.

Also that /v/ thread has 404'd. Gonna go remove that link.

Radez Jun 20, 2013 10:11 AM

Acer,

I was actually thinking about arbitrage and time traveling this morning.

Let's say you are friends with a guy that's across the dateline. You could buy turnips on Sunday and travel to his town on Monday, sell them at that price and then return to your town and buy more turnips.

Take that a step further. On Sunday morning in your primary account, take your other account and time travel to find a good turnip selling price. Now travel between your primary town and alternate town liquidating turnips for 4 hours straight.

A full inventory carries 1600 turnips. Assume you can cycle your inventory (buy, sell and buy again) in 10 minutes. Assuming you could find a 500% price difference, you could make ~5M bells an hour until the turnip-lady leaves.

I'm not sure if it'd be more effective to fill up your storage with turnips and cycle that, or just move back and forth with a full inventory.

If you cycled storage as well, a full storage is 18,000 turnips, which at 500% gains is 9M bells.

There is apparently an achievement for saving 1,000,000,000 bells.

FatsDomino Jun 20, 2013 10:31 AM

Radez, I was actually thinking of buying another copy of ACNL for AnnieMoose and doing a time-travelling stint with her account to a date where turnips are being bought for something like 400 to 500 bells. I'm curious as to travel between towns and time affects turnips. Like do they auto-spoil if you go to a town that has their time set to more than a week since you've bought your turnips? If they don't then you could potentially travel to some point in the future where turnips are being bought for ridiculous amounts of money. The other question: are turnip prices set in stone each day or are they assigned randomly every time the date or 12 hour period changes?

I propose that if you can travel to any town/time and turnips do not spoil and turnip prices while given out randomly are permanently set then you could potentially find a really easy way to make money. Just park your ass on a Sunday morning, buy turnips, and then Grays Sports Almanac your way to great success.

Also holy crap don't you only need like 7 million bells to fully upgrade your house? This game man. This game.

OmagnusPrime Jun 20, 2013 11:09 AM

What is wrong with you people? Just play the damn game! >=(

FatsDomino Jun 20, 2013 11:22 AM

I've been playing this game since the original on GameCube. Figuring out ways to break the game and/or exploit it are basically the most fun things you can do with it. Nintendo does add some great things to each new version but it's by and large mostly the same game since the original. Also the writing and villager interaction has gotten lazier comparatively.

Well at least you can definitely say that about City Folk...

But yeah I'll stick around to see what talking to Isabelle and performing mayor duties doles out. Isabelle's intro interaction was highly promising but now you barely get anything out of her unless doing some ordinance/public works or event. I don't count talking to her about what the villagers want to be interesting. They could have easily had a shit ton of flavor text that you get for talking to her behind the mayor's desk or something. Giving her a shell is probably going to be the highlight of interacting with her for a while. I hear there are things you might catch her doing depending on what you unlock later or some stuff between her and her brother but other than that *shrug*.

I'm hoping the inevitable Wii U Animal Crossing 1) actually takes advantage of the system from a gameplay and graphics perspective and 2) has the writing, interaction, variety, and effort put into the original GameCube game.

But yes I am having fun with ACNL so far despite certain things being a little disappointing. They have definitely done a great job with online compared to the past two games. Getting messages from you guys and visiting your towns has been really rewarding.

The Plane Is A Tiger Jun 20, 2013 04:59 PM

My town is buying turnips for a whopping 527 bells right now. It's too bad I wasn't able to buy any this week.

My guide seems to be lost in UPS hell, and Amazon decided to give me a refund instead of sending another one. Now I'm debating if I want to pay the extra $10 or so to buy it full price somewhere around here.

Radez Jun 20, 2013 09:06 PM

My town's turnips were 92 today, so they ticked upward. We'll see what Friday's are.

I also thought this was worth sharing. Was playing with Ben earlier, and there is a section of beach cut-off from the rest of the town. My house is on a cliff overlooking the beach.

I got to look on, from the cliff, as my buddy fishes way down below.

Then I see him catch a shark. Go him!

It made me feel warm and fuzzy to be creepy-watching/taking pictures of the beach-goers from my clifftop mansion.

Radez Jun 23, 2013 05:51 AM

94 bell purchase price for turnips

Purchased 11,100 turnips for 1,043,400. Heavily leveraged. Fingers crossed!

FatsDomino Jun 23, 2013 05:21 PM

Alright, I was correct on how you can break the game. Currently selling turnips for 473 bells in AniMoose's town of Nortstar. Been timetravelling as Acer to buy turnips from various Sundays and traveling to her town with my inventory full of turnips. Not a single one rots. The only time travel business that is checked is when you change your own clock while having turnips in your inventory. It doesn't give a shit when you travel somewhere else with a drastically different date and time. So yeah what a great exploit!

If you'd like AniMoose has her gate open. You'll need to add her as a friend if you haven't already. I tried to add most people who have ACNL here to her friends list.

AnnieMoose aka Acer's silly alt account

The alpine wallpaper on the ground is Philia's. That's the stuff she collects. If you have any you want to get rid of feel free to drop it off as you pass through. Ani collects classic and ranch. Acer collects modern, exotic, cabana, and any oriental Japanese shit. So yeah if you feel like dumping any of those things. That's a good place to do it.

But yeah that's only if you have turnips you'd like to get rid of I guess. Feel free to time travel and take advantage of this offer. I'll be idling. I only ask that you abide by ACNL etiquette and not run, not destroy anything, and not be an asshole in general. Despite it being my alternate town I actually take a lot of pride in it. I've applied what I've learned making my first town and I honestly think it's the better of the two. Feel free to explore it. Just be nice.

I've already had Philia and Radez come through and they have taken advantage of it being a great drop off point and to sell turnips respectively.

Radez Jun 23, 2013 06:11 PM

Thanks for this announcement. I stopped by and fondled the alpine wallpaper, because I also am collecting the alpine set. I think the only piece left that I need is the flooring.

Philia Jun 23, 2013 08:00 PM

I have that Radez... and by the way... my island is selling two mermaid stuff you might like.

FatsDomino Jun 24, 2013 07:32 AM

Btw my gate is open selling turnips at 473 bells until 11 AM EST. I'm letting the clock roll at what I last set it at last night. I'm currently at work. Be nice while I'm away.

Radez Jun 24, 2013 10:46 AM

Acer, if you travel back to te same day, is it the same 473 price? Also, did you get my letter? Also, Philia, let's meet up so I can handle your floor. Is there any other alpine thing you need?

FatsDomino Jun 24, 2013 11:11 AM

I haven't gotten your letter yet. I'm assuming it was to AniMoose. I'll have to check for it. Also, I will be testing rolling it back to the day of 473 bells later tonight to see if it stays the same price. I already tested rolling back to the morning of the same day and it stayed the same price that it was that morning (207 bells if you're curious) and come 12 PM it changed to 473 bells again. So yeah later tonight we'll see how rolling back a day works with turnip prices.

Speaking of turnip prices I need to write down what warthog lady is selling them at. So far on the 16th she's selling them at 97 bells when I travelled back to that date. I recall it being around that price but I'm curious if her prices are set in stone too. If both scenarios are true you could potentially find the date in your town where she sells them to you the cheapest and then the date in the town you're traveling to where profit is ridiculous. Philia tells me there are some places that have sold turnips for like 800 to 900 bells or some such. Do want.

Also of note my gate is open but my 3DS system is closed shut. I assume it continues to stay open and be accessible. When I plug my headphones into it you can still hear the music. Kinda a neat feature if you like the music. You could potentially hook it up to some external speakers, put the volume low, and have it lull you to sleep. Anyway, just figured I'd mention that if for some dumb reason you can't travel to towns with their 3DS shut but gates open which I don't think is the case. You should be able to get to my town. That said it is now around midnight in Ani's town so store is closed and turnip prices will have changed. I'm kinda curious what they are now. Wouldn't it be fantastic if they were even better?!

OmagnusPrime Jun 24, 2013 01:04 PM

So since I've rather been enjoying making custom outfits and designs in the game (pro-design FTW) I figure I'd open up my services for commissions. If you have something you'd like me to design then give me a shout and I'll see about making something for you. Of course tips in the form of bells or regal furniture will be appreciated in return, but not required if I chose to do something.

Here are some pieces I've made so far (the flight jacket, Chun Li dress and Optimus dress+hat):

Radez Jun 24, 2013 06:25 PM

It would be awesome if the prices were seeded at the start, once, and therefore fixed for all date-times forever. If that were the case, you could invest time upfront on a whirlwind time-tour of your town to find the best selling price, and then just take tours of people through to the Day of the Great Turnip Bubble, July 14, 2582 for crazy profit.

You could expand that too, to store and island inventory.

Imagine, Acer. You could run a time-space retail service if you had a catalog of the store inventories over the years. Someone could say "I want a modern wood stove" and you could say "yes sir, of course, come with me to Nortstar, 1875 when the first model was placed on the market."

You could sell first edition everything.

Additional Spam:
I kind of want to experiment now also.

FatsDomino Jun 24, 2013 07:57 PM

6/11 2:20 PM - 473
6/12 10:00 AM - 184
6/12 12:00 PM - 132

Now to test going back in time to 6/11 11:57 AM and see if it matches up...

Oh fuck.
6/11 11:58 AM - 118
6/11 12:00 PM - 94

Looks like it isn't consistent. That really sucks.

Guess I have to time travel to another day to reset it. I think as long as the day hasn't passed you can go back to the morning of and not have prices change, but if the date changes you'll lose that potentially nice price forever. Dang.

Also holy crap Radez thanks for all the mail and presents! <3<3<3

Radez Jun 24, 2013 08:03 PM

That's too bad. Space-time tourism sounded really really awesome. Also, I have a cabana bookcase and exotic chair for you at some point.

I'm looking for mermaid stuff. Specifically, mermaid dresser, mermaid screen, mermaid table, mermaid vanity, mermaid wardrobe, and mermaid light. If these show up in your islands, I'd love to hear about it.

Also, Acer, you're welcome :)

FatsDomino Jun 24, 2013 09:16 PM

Yeah, it is too bad. Although I guess it's nice in that it keeps things fresh for time travelers.

I'm leaving ani's gate open again. If any of you feel like using it as a furniture or whatever dumping area feel free. However don't bring turnips. Prices are at a record low. I'll have to search for a better date in the future for turnips.

Oh, also Redd is in town and the two art pieces left are fakes. So unless you'd like a fake don't bother.

just change your ssid to "Bestbuy" (exactly that) and if you have any password protection then add it as one of your connection profiles in the 3DS's settings

I'll have to try that for the next one

I don't wish to be an arsehole, but some of us aren't necessarily playing with guides and whilst it's hard to avoid everything (and there's bits I just straight remember from Wild World), I'd appreciate not walking straight into a guidebook page every time I load this thread. I think there's a difference between a group of people sharing tips and things they've learned versus "Here's an image that tells you what to do for X".

I don't think it'd be too much to ask that you stick them in spoiler tags (especially considering some of the posts have been huge pictures).

The Plane Is A Tiger Jul 3, 2013 08:08 PM

I take it no one's turnip prices have been great this week? Mine have been barely over 100 so far, and I'm really counting on making a decent profit off of the obscene number of turnips filling my closet.

I finally activated the Dream Suite in my town after Omagnus informed me that she pays 5,000 bells per day for updating, so people can check in on Vanguard if they wish. I've recently started doing some actual landscaping as far as chopping down trees and beginning to create a park, so it's not quite the untamed wilderness it once was.

Philia Jul 3, 2013 08:25 PM

My prices were trending well...

Monday
AM: 83
PM: 79

Tuesday
AM: 103
PM: 132

Wednesday
AM: 148
PM: 160

But I wouldn't hold my breath. :\ Anyway, I've sold my turnips at 538 bells to a guy in the ACNL chat. Its not quite 600+ but I wasn't going to go all out this time around since I'm close to paying off everything.

Also I'm on a hunt for gyroids. Let me know if you got some of the ones I don't have! :)

Sorry folks, combination of work and xenoblade, but mainly work have distracted me from animal crossing. I touched my town for the first time in two days yesterday, and as I just got home, I'm not planning on doing AC chores tonight either.

All of my townspeople will leave, my flowers will die and the weeds will overrun the once great Sparkle hegemony. :(

Sousuke Jul 3, 2013 08:46 PM

I caved and got this last night.

I have never played these games before. I pretty much have no idea what I'm doing. That said... I've had a person or two help me out with a couple things.

I know I've got a bunch of you already, but 3737-9783-4967 is my code just in case. Gotta get visiting and such!

Xenoblade is an acceptable excuse for skipping anything. Your townsfolk will understand completely.

You need to share your town's Dream Address though. So what is it?

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Jul 4, 2013 01:23 AM

Bought this the other day and trying to burn through and get access to most of this stuff. Got the money for the down payment and now flattering the shit out of residents for my approval rating.

Also, someone moved in right next to me. Time to use mayoral powers to harass the shit out of this person until they leave.

FatsDomino Jul 4, 2013 01:32 AM

By mayoral powers you must mean bug net to the face and ignoring them until they leave and finally planting trees where their house was at so a new house won't spring up in the future.

I was going to share it here, but you can already see Dream Addresses by clicking the profile cards on the friend list. I forgot we were assembling them in the first post though, so I'll grab it later.

Sousuke Jul 4, 2013 02:00 AM

A friend popped into my town and gave me a cherry, pear, apple, mango, and persimmon, so I planted those. Aside from that, my fruit is the orange. He also dropped 40000 bells on my doorstep so my first loan has been paid off already, and I'm only on day 2, heh.

That said... I'm not entirely sure what all these Dream Addresses and such are. I'm sure I'll work it out eventually.

The Plane Is A Tiger Jul 4, 2013 03:15 AM

After a little while you'll get the option to renovate one of the main street buildings into the Dream Suite as a public works project. You get 5,000 bells per day for updating your town there. The address allows people to visit the most recently updated version of your town at any time, but they're not able to affect anything there since you didn't actually open your gate for them.

It looks like you're missing peaches, lemons, lychee, durians, and bananas. I could give you all of those except for bananas, and I lack persimmons.

Philia Jul 4, 2013 08:34 AM

And bamboo. Don't forget that too. :3 That said, I got them all lol.

Sousuke Jul 4, 2013 12:46 PM

I'd gladly trade a basket of persimmons for some of those! If nothing else, peaches, cause someone is asking for them.

Sousuke Jul 4, 2013 04:02 PM

Also, my house has the best painting. Everyone else can go home.

value tart Jul 5, 2013 11:25 AM

My price for this afternoon is 180 bells per turnip, and I've got the Night Owl ordinance, so I'm available at that price until 2AM EST.

I'll be out with nutty for a bit, but later this evening I can open my gate for anyone who wants!

Philia Jul 5, 2013 03:24 PM

I have a complete set of Rococo, Minimalist, Modern Wood, and Alpine. I also have a complete small Patchwork set (5 pieces).

I'm looking to catalog the following before I can call the set complete;

Sleek: Clock
Regal: Sofa
Classic: Wardrobe, Carpet
Lovely: Chair, Dresser, Phone, Wallpaper

I'm also interested in any Blue or Polka Dot furniture. I have a friend who's getting Green furniture for me, so I'll have to update if I need any with that series.

I'm also interested in gyroids. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...LaUozNkE#gid=0

My gate is open for the night for 180 bell turnips!

I'm away from the 3DS right now, please be nice to my town!

Some more clothes I designed in the spoilers below, including my first commission for Skills (the Tales of Vesperia - Estelle dress). I'm super pleased with how the back of the jacket came out for my Shenmue inspired design:

FatsDomino Jul 9, 2013 01:03 AM

You know it's an excellent reward for diligence in fashion but I sincerely hope that the inevitable Animal Crossing for the Wii U allows you to buy as many mannequins as you want. Having only 4 mannequins per player is kind of annoying. I was hoping to do some sort of section in the museum with a set of full costumes but alas. Also more storage. Always more storage. Never enough storage.

nuttyturnip Jul 10, 2013 06:02 PM

I'm going to leave my town open for awhile if anyone wants to stop by. Turnip prices are 178 at the moment. All the junk by the train station is fair game, and there's a silver shovel in the museum shop.

The Plane Is A Tiger Jul 12, 2013 02:14 PM

Yeah, I'm getting desperate for someone to pop up with decent turnip prices. Mine peaked at 150-something yesterday, and now they're back down to 78. I'd just be happy turning some kind of profit at this point considering the 500K of turnips sitting in my closet.

The cafe opened up in Vanguard today, and the whole city is now running on green energy thanks to our new wind turbine. My basement was maxed out today too, so I may finally set something up down there. I already ordered a bunch of beacon torches to go with my pipe organ down there.

nuttyturnip Jul 12, 2013 02:49 PM

I wish I'd cashed in on my own price. I've been on a steady decline since then, down to 74 bells this afternoon.

Philia Jul 13, 2013 01:02 AM

Aw, Nutty, you should had head over to Skills earlier! He had like 400+ or something.

I've sold my turnips at 611 to some GAFfer past Tuesday.

Meanwhile... I hit 10 million bell mark. Someone was offering me 100k for each one of my furniture sets so I offered. Then in the same night, someone gave me 1 million for all of my gardening service I've gave him in the past two hours lol along with a lot of valuable tips. I'm very happy to help a lot of people, I just didn't expect this much compensation! o.o'

Anyway, I helped skills earlier with cataloging a lot of my sets. I'll be getting some japanese DLC furniture in order soon too. It'll be neat to see in game. Its a small set of campus stuff.

I also gave up on my silly HHA rating... my Fairy Tale sets isn't enough. I need at least two more complete sets to get up to 1.1 million and that won't happen til Fall. So I'll be focusing on maximizing my luck by fixing feng shui something fierce at my house.

FatsDomino Jul 15, 2013 09:08 AM

Just posting a dream address I need to check out.
DREAM ADDRESS: 3400 - 0431 - 3656

found it on this acnl related tumblr - (?????)

Also just wanted to say thanks again to skills for letting me make almost 3.5 million in one trip. Wish I could have made 10 trips. That would have been awesome.

My Re-Tail is paying extra for ore today, if anyone is interested. I can open my town tonight if anyone wants.

The Plane Is A Tiger Jul 15, 2013 10:42 AM

My money rock gave out ore today, so I'll definitely head over to your town tonight.

Philia Jul 15, 2013 11:49 AM

Awesome, I'll be coming by Nutty. :3 I got a bunch.

nuttyturnip Jul 15, 2013 06:15 PM

Philia Jul 17, 2013 09:34 AM

My Retail is buying at 239 bells this morning. Thought to let you guys have the heads up on selling your turnips. My gate will be open for you guys. Let me know if I need to add you.

Philia Jul 17, 2013 06:16 PM

My island is selling bushes if anyone wants to buy them for 5 medals each. Red and Yellow is available.

I've also updated my Dream Code.

4000 2264 4880

nuttyturnip Jul 19, 2013 05:26 PM

So who's the lucky person with turnips over 100 today? Also, a shop paying extra for ore would be nice, as I've hit the ore rock twice this week.

The Plane Is A Tiger Jul 19, 2013 06:09 PM

Mine are only like 102 today, so I'm at a loss. Here's hoping for a last minute jackpot again from someone.

Philia Jul 19, 2013 06:18 PM

Yeah, my prices peaked earlier this week. Daravon's at 61 right now while's mine is at 74.

HOWEVER. My husband got turnips to offload, and a gaffer got a 612, and I plan to offload his turnips with his game in the post. If you want me to offload your turnips for you at that price, I can do that for you. I was a hero for Radez, Skills and a friend of Radez's.

Let me know and I'll let you in Daravon's town to drop your turnips to me and I'll sell them myself. The gaffer doesn't seem to have a whole lot of takers either, so thankfully its slow these days on a Friday compared to super prices tuesdays when its all madness. :3

The Plane Is A Tiger Jul 19, 2013 07:05 PM

I may take you up on that when I get home tonight. I really don't feel like risking Saturday prices.

Philia Jul 19, 2013 07:18 PM

Okay, his FC is 5455 9558 6601. I'll be checking to see if he've added you. I'll make sure his gates is open for you.

The Plane Is A Tiger Jul 19, 2013 07:38 PM

I already had him added, but he needs to add me. It'll probably be a little after 10 EST when I pop by. Where should I leave the turnips?

Philia Jul 19, 2013 07:50 PM

Added you on his 3DS and gates are open. Feel free to drop turnips on his front lawn in front of the station. :3

Philia Jul 20, 2013 05:07 PM

I'm doing perfect fruits and stocking up on those. :3 I make GOOD money selling them at premium at someone's retail. Plus they don't rot, and they can be stocked in letters.

And I'm totally wearing my crown too. :3

Sousuke Jul 25, 2013 06:31 PM

CHRIST that's a lot of bells. That said... I've only ever seen ONE perfect fruit. Dunno if you have to do something special to make them grow, of if it's random.

Also, I'm visiting your Dream town cause it's the first Dream Address I came across. :3: I like how you arranged the tent-space on you plaza! I might steal that, cause right now there's just an unsightly hole in my cobblestone paths. Might as well make something of it.

^Unemployment + Stalk Market. It's actually really not that hard, I only have like 8 mil and I've barely even messed with the Stalk Market and I never went in that hard on it. There were people on GAF who legitimately had 100+ mil two weeks after launch. All you have to do ultimately is fill up your entire house, storage, museum rooms, and village with nothing but turnips, then hit up someone who has 500+ turnip prices on GAF, which happens pretty much every day.

UNRELATED ADDENDUM: So the petaltail dragonfly has an excruciatingly short window in the day in which it spawns. I've heard they're pretty common on the island tours, but do I still need to be within the 5PM-7PM window for them to appear there?

I don't think you keep anything from the island tours as far as bugs though? I know on some of the games you can keep unrelated items (like if you pick up fruit on a bug hunt tour) but I don't know offhand if you can keep bugs on any of them. As far as I know it'd still be the 5-7 window though. According to the seemingly reliable catalog sources it's not available on the island itself which is a bummer, as it'd be pretty easy to farm there since it's such a small area.

LOL I just said it. :3

You start with one perfect fruit in your town. Unlike some poor souls who actually ate or sold theirs, I planted mine. :3

Fruit stacks to 9, don't rot, and they go for 6k at someone's premium that is not his/her native fruit.

9 fruit per basket
180 - Locker
10 - Opened letters
16 - On hand

1854*6k = 11,124,000 bells, but that's your half of the week! The trees will regrow their fruits again in 3 days! So you can double that! :)

All it matters is that you watch for people (GAF or gamefaqs) that has premium on your perfect fruit that its not a native in his/her town. And eventually you'll want that gold axe to make back on your investment easier since after 5 or so shakes, they die, making you chop them down to replant them again. So you can make pretty good money on your own perfect fruit instead on turnips. :)

Also, I have very exciting news! I got a rare purple tulip! :D

Philia Aug 10, 2013 07:03 AM

I'm sorry Garr, my prices were in severe decline trend all the time. :( My prices had always been so shitty since I got the game that I've just retorted to selling perfect fruits instead.

In other news, I've gotten every flower hybrid! :)

Spoiler:

Carnations
Reds - Father's Day letter from Dad
Pinks - Mother's Day letter from Mom
White - Bred from Pink crosses

Roses
Orange - Red x Yellow cross
Pink - Red x White cross
Black - Red x Red cross
Purple - White x White cross

Blue - Red roses from a Orange x Purple cross is a second generation red (+). The most difficult part about breeding these is that you cannot tell the difference between first generation reds from second generation. This can be problematic when your own neighbors likes to plant flowers, giving you a false sense of achievement. This is where the beach gardens are more secured, since its more secluded. Pair the reds+ together and you'll get a blue.

Tulips
Orange - Red x Yellow cross
Pink - Red x White cross
Black - Red x Red cross
Purple - Orange x Orange or Black x Black crosses

Lilies
Orange - Red x Yellow cross
Pink - Red x White cross
Black - Red x Red cross

Cosmos
Orange - Red x Yellow cross
Pink - Red x White cross
Black - Red x Red cross

Pansies
Orange - Red x Yellow cross
Blue - White x White cross

Purple - Like with the blue rose, you'll need the second generation red pansies to pair up to make purple. Pansy reds+ will need to be created from a Blue x Red cross.

Violets
Blue - Purple x White

I've also updated my dream town. Dream code is still at 4000 2264 4880.

The Plane Is A Tiger Aug 10, 2013 02:06 PM

My turnips are only selling for 69 bells at the moment. Nutty and Mo0 sold at mine for 124 bells last night, but it didn't seem good enough to bother announcing.

I've cut back my play time lately, so I've basically just been gathering fossils and watering flowers every day while trying to trigger new public works projects. So far I've only gotten the wind turbine a long time ago and the zen bell a few days ago. I did go through my stuff and began organizing several of my fully expanded rooms into actual designs yesterday, though.

The Plane Is A Tiger Aug 16, 2013 08:17 PM

i'm barely finding reasons to keep playing this game since my town is full of shitty bulls and all the villagers i do like keep trying to leave

and also i hate having to catch stupid beetles for money it is SO BORING

Philia Aug 27, 2013 09:18 PM

Can't blame you, Seris. My villagers were all plain and pretty boring or outright annoying except save two. Caroline and Del. Del's the best cranky villager after Fang.

Del's house is robo themed and his (he's an alligator) jawline has nails in it lol.

Caroline is a lovely normal villager that placed her house near mine. I liked that she gets up at 5?am in the morning and I'm always up by 6 am to greet her. I'm a fan of normals for this reason.

Now I've gotten 5 of the cutest animal villagers now thanks to friends to letting me recruit them to my town. Saving Del as being one of my originals, I've gotten Rosie, Marshal, Biskit and Molly. :3

I hope to recruit Pashmina, Rudy, Gala, Gayle & Tia into my town someday.

Philia Aug 31, 2013 10:58 AM

Hope you guys got everything for August! :)

I'm having such a blast getting my dream villagers in my town. Its shaping up REAL nice.

I've managed to snag Pashmina and Rudy from my previous post about them. Margie's in the works and I've an offer on Gala and Gayle. :3

And finally my best "beast mode" of this game.

FatsDomino Sep 7, 2013 06:58 PM

I wish I had the patience for this game. It starts to get old after a while. I've been taking a break so hopefully when it strikes my fancy I'll get back into it.

Philia Sep 7, 2013 07:08 PM

If you uh... ever give up on it, I'd like to have your other cart.

Unless you got one downloaded and the other was the cart, then disregard. I'd simply use that cart as a TT town to get a lot of villagers for people who wants them. My generous nature wants to do this for people who's already paying their obscene amount of bells for these villagers. Its just stupid that they have to pay for something that should be free. :\

The Plane Is A Tiger Sep 7, 2013 08:48 PM

You haven't even been playing for 3 months yet and you've managed to put in a little over 47 days. HOW.

I haven't played much AC for the past couple of weeks. It got to the point where I really just wanted more public works projects, but villagers rarely give them to you. I've only managed to get the wind turbine and zen bell from my people so far. I do want to get back to it, though. I'm way too close to the last loans to give up now.
