One Piece + Naruto + DBZ
uhh... I guess these are all the "hot" series from Shounen Jump Bandai could use to construct their next game. No sign of Namco characters, but I suppose the day when Xenosaga and Tales series clash with Gundam and .hack titles is not far from now...
July 20th is the tentative release date. http://ranobe.sakuratan.com/up/src/up100361.jpg http://ranobe.sakuratan.com/up/src/up100360.jpg |
Is this anything like Jump Superstars, but for consoles? Damn...I haven't even gotten Jump or Naruto Gekitou Ninja Taisen 4 yet, and now this is announced :(
This game looks like fun SSBM style. I like how the ultra huge pic is breaking the tables. Arf! |
Battle Stadium huh? This better be even greater than JS, which had a whole whack of SJ characters, and pretty silly AI. I hope there are lots and lots of characters here too, although there should be a lot from the three series. If they only included the main essential ones (Naruto, Luffy, Goku, + handful), then it probably wouldn't be so fun.
|
Pretty neat, but Luffy looks horrible in that victory screen =(
I wonder if they'll try to implement the partner system from Jump Superstars somehow. |
Jump Superstars was a great game (still is). I was expecting a 3d version to come out soon but not for consoles >.<..
If they're able to pull it off again.. Then it'll be fine. I just dont want it to be only those 3 animes =/. |
YES Finally a game like this for consoles, I really wanted Jump Super Stars.
|
Wow, never saw this one coming. Awesome news. But I also hope to have more series in it, even though I don't know most of the characters from JSS.
|
My main focus is also the music of the game. Not many people enjoyed the music for Jump Superstars ( i sorta liked it but it wasn't that great either). The gameplay was amazing but this game can actually be better and ONLY if they have a shitload of playable characters. I still need Death Note characters in there. even if they aren't fighter types ^^;.
|
I wonder if there will be any super rare chance of this one making it over to the U.S. With an option for original Japanese voices of course
|
For some reason, I don't see a U.S. launch.
Either way, it looks cool. I'm hoping there will be more action animes like Yu Yu Hakusho.. |
You think there would be with all 3 animes doing pretty well in America
|
sadly, Yu Yu Hakusho was removed from both Adult Swim and Toonami and moved into shitty 5 am in the morning.. Ouch.
|
Yeah, but the fact that it was removed from both leads me to believe it must not have been that popular here (on TV, anyway) in the first place. It sucks though, since I had been watching it ever since it first came on Adult Swim. Ever since they changed it to that early morning slot, I've had to record the episodes just to watch them (I still need to finish watching the last seven episodes).
|
It's a shame. I don't see why Bo-Boo-Boo-whatever gets a slot on Toonami, whereas Yu Yu Hakusho gets the lame early morning slot. Urgh..
And I just noticed the "PS2, GC" thing on the top left. Does that mean this game will appear on both systems? If so, then..awesome! |
Yu Yu Hakusho had the prime slot going for it for two or three years. It's just that it took soooo long for the episodes to get released here that eventually interest waned and other series had managed to go through completely once or twice. Personally, I've got all of YYH on DVD, but I can at least understand why CN/AS took it off their scheduling.
Maybe it'll come back on now that the whole series is available. This getting a US release though? Who knows -- when Jump Superstars was released, I don't think Naruto had been on the air in the States yet. Now that it is and has high ratings, I could see this game getting a release. I mean, it's basically a combination of the Budokai, O.P. Grand Battle, and Naruto: Clash of Ninja games, right? |
thats what i was thinking. I wouldn't say t he Narutimettu Hero series since it shits on the Clash of Ninja games and especially Fighting for One Piece (that game flopped so bad).
|
Is this basically a Super Smash Bros. clone? That's what it looks like from the screens.
|
looks like a clone. and how would it work with ps2? it seems to be up to four players
|
Has any new news about this game surfaced yet? What's it called anyway?
|
It's called Battle Stadium D.O.N. and it will be released on July 20th.
|
Awesome. I loved Jump Superstars, but playing alone gave it little replay value. It should be a blasty blast on PS2.
|
hopefully the battle s system won't borrow too much from Jump SS or Smash Bros.I hope the combo system is relatively fleshed out considering the characters.
|
You can see a few stuff for D.O.N.
I uploaded the clip along with Super DBZ ( dont worry much about it ;p ) You can see Gaara using a slingshot. I guess that means it'll be a little melee-ish. Then I guess we should play this for the gamecube maybe? http://www.sendspace.com/file/g7xefe |
Oh hay guys, I found some videos which you might find interesting.
http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=doubleohess There's about 20 of them. |
Heheh. Nice opening and such. The iso came out today, fans.
http://p.greedland.net/torrents/2006...242124.torrent Mine finished in less than 30 mins so it should be the same for you. If not, i'll upload through sendspace. Just ask >=p. |
238 meg download for a DVD, it almost seems like a waste! Has anyone played it yet? I'm just downloading it at the moment.
|
The actual ISO is around 1.5GB so it's not a waste.
I played it for a while, and it's pretty fun, but way too easy even on Very Hard. The controls seem a bit clunky at first but I think I got used to it. The move-set seems very small but at least it's bigger than something like Jump Superstars. Spoiler:
|

I <3 my Gamecube (if you tell the australians, I will fucking hunt you down), so I was thinking of importing this, but giving it a test run first before I come to a decision is probably a better move. |
it probably is better for the gamecube if you want to play with 3 other people...
|
Of course. What, the iso is for the PS2 version?
Why is there even a PS2 version? It's basically a SSBM anime styled game. I can't imagine having this played on anything that doesn't support four controllers. It would just defeat the purpose of the multiplayer being there. |
Uh...there is multi-tap, dude. Unless they never made one for ps2. Just didn't bother thinking about it til now. But I think I'll order this for gamecube. Battle Stadium would've been better if it had more characters from other jump mangas.
|

There needs to be more games like SSBM which include an array of characters. I'm surprised Square haven't done one. |
Well, I had 3 friends over and we played it 4 player on PS2 (yeah, multitap). I was excited after seeing the intro, but the gameplay itself is very bland.. This game doesn't compare to SSBM at all. Each character has a very basic combo and around 2 specials (although all the Naruto characters seem to have 3). You can't really link any of the combos into specials either. I'm majorly dissapointed about this game, even Digimon Rumble Arena 2 was better.
|

Wait, you can't even do a few punches and unleash a super afterwards? That's quite disappointing to hear. Can you at least combo people after throwing them? |
Kensuke is wrong, you can link combos into specials pretty easily. It just seems like you cant since you only get one basic combo, and the rest are supposed to be special moves. You can easily link specials into specials and whatnot, the only thing you can't link is super moves which doesn't really matter since I don't think they are blockable, and if they the computer never blocks and I'm too slow to block.
Also you can combo people after throws. |
Yeah, I'll admit I was a bit hasty in commenting about the combo system. I think it's probably the fact that my first time playing was immediately with 3 other people so the whole event was just confusion and out of control.. The supers are definitly blockable.. It's a pity that performing a super pauses gameplay though, because it's extremely annoying when one person does a super and then everyone else follows up with their own supers as well.
|
Here's what I have to say about the game.
First off, The game ,to me, is Great. Im able to link combo's and sometimes supers. I just might not work for most fighters. The stages are enjoyable. Im unlocking 2-3 other stages and i still dont know about the hidden characters. I fought against Majin Buu,Cell, Freezer and a few other characters that aren't unlocked. Now many will probably say that Luffy is overpowered. Well. ALL CHARACTERS ARE. There is a way of stopping it and yes there is this ability called REVERSE ATTACK. Im playing this by myself just to make sure that the game is good enough to have my friends come over to play the game and so far. I believe it to be a good Jump Melee . This is their first time making it. The way you get thrown off and being able to attack while you're on screen, To Me, is better than Smash bros' come back to life and stay idle inside a lil barrier for a few seconds. There are alot of different things that ssbm don't have. Overall. This game is fun. Im not going to say its better than ssbm , but, Lets just say this is a "refreshing your skills before the next installment comes up" thing. Gameplay - 7.5 : If you really want to enjoy this..Dont exaggerate with the super.. Although there IS a limit to it where you see a tiny bar which is also you special attack ability. So limit yourself with it. You can also dodge your attacks like ssmb Sound/Music - 8.0 : Its all there! voices are fun to listen to :p. Im getting used to the music and Im hoping for a gamerip sometime later. Definately better than Jump Superstars' OST >.>. Character - ? (8.0) : You decide who's your favorite but dont give me the overpowered crap ;p. Cause you do almost anything and counter all you want. The most important flaw of it , is that they needed more characters. Stages - 8.5 : Keep unlocking ;p. They are all good except you'll get a litlte bored when you're in the budokai tournament place. Overall Rating (8.5) Once again, this is t heir first time. Give it a chance and have fun. My Recommendation for this game is better suited for the GC. |
is the game really good enough to waste a dvd on.
I enjoyed narutamite hero 2 and 3 so is it something like that, and how many characters overall are there. |
Quote:
I'd say a total of 22 characters. Not that much. its all good really. This is just starting just like Smash Bros did. Also. DVD's nowadays dont really cost much unless it was a dual layered disc. Try and have fun. Can't say you'll have much fun if you play it alone and without three other people. |
ok great, i'm actually about to burn it ^_^
I have a gamecube but I dont play it so I dont know much about smash bro. but hopefully I'll have fun nontheless. I'll comment on it later |
If the game wasn't so damn easy I could've enjoyed a lot more. Even on Very Hard the AI is lame and don't make any effort in killing you at all. Especially when it's 4 characters the CPU just keep fighting the others CPUs.
But if you have friends to play with it should be a fun game for a while, especially if you unlocked all the characters. |
(but I have problems with Majin Buu on Very Hard =[...)
Well, so far the game is decent, but it's a real pain to unlock characters. After like 5 tries on the slot machine, I only unlocked Frieza. |
is there a guide somewhere to unlock the characters or maybe a guide on the missions. I sadly can't read japanese, yeah I know its a shame :/ *sarcasm*
I also have to agree with the majin buu difficulty. He got 2 hits on me and got burst and killed me 10 seconds into the match. i never felt so pathetic ;_; He jumped an extra lvl |
The gamecube version just hit my favorite vg store today. I'll picking that up tomorrow. Other than that, The difficulty is annoying but i figured they didn't care about it that much. To make part 2 would be different at least. Only now i think part two will involve 3 other series and not D.O.N...
Look at the bright side, at least we didn't get 10 versions of Goku, gohan and vegeta ^^;. |
Heh. I just saw this thread--downloaded, and burned the game within 20 minutes. I'd been waiting on this game for awhile, and I didn't know when it was coming out. I like Naruto's attacks. <---That's as far as I've gotten into the game. ^^
|
I actually tried out zoro at first and I wasn't impressed with the combos. But zoro turned out to be a little slower than the other characters since he carried those swords. The other characters have much faster combos.
I just found out that I can pull off the supers in the air as well, thats cool too ^_^ |
Haha, I just found out Sasuke has Shishi-rendan. I lawl'd
|
Yeah, Zoro really got the shaft in this game. It's not that he sucks, it's just that he isn't way over-powered like everyone else. This also happened to Chopper, One Piece got gypped :(.
After playing for a while my only complaint is those fucking slots. That's the gayest shit ever, I've played like 500 times and havent got a single character. I wish I was joking. As for the sequel, hopefully they include all the Jump characters, but I guess thats just wishing for Superstars on a console. I just want a buttload of characters damnit ;_; Quote:
|
Nice. Rock Lee has Omete Renge for a heavy attack and opens some of the gates for his Burst. :D
|
I hope we realize that fighting chopper is the most pathetic thing EVER. You play with any character against him.. You wont be able to pull off many punches since his height is so damn short. Be sure to do sweep then combos :).
For sequels, i get the feeling it might be 3 different series and the other. One would be Supernatural while the other will be Samurai. Different Genres. But i rather have a Jump Superstars return. Cause if they plan to have different Battle Stadium games like : Battle Stadium DBD - D.Grayman, Bleach, Death Note (eheh...) Battle Stadium RGB - Rurouni Kenshin, Gintama and Busuo Renkin Battle Stadium HY - Hikaru no Go, Yugioh, ...I'll be annoyed with it ;p. |
I doubt they'll make compeltely seperate games, and they'll just add other mangas to the title or something. Battle Stadium DONGBNHYR.
|
don't forget P for Pokemon.
Double Post: Haha, Battle Stadium HYP |
I played with a few friends and it was nice, way better them alone. I wish there were more characters, I miss playing with some One Piece characters (Robin anyone?). I really don't care about Naruto and DBZ characters.
And yeah, we need Rurouni Kenshin, Busou Renkin, D.Gray-Man and Death Note characters fighting each other! |
This game has no depth whatsoever, but then again, it's Bandai that's making the game, can't expect too much from it... if they asked Namco or Cyberconnect 2 to make the game, this could be a much deeper and engaging game...
|
Yeah, in comparison, this game is on a way lower tier than, say, Naruto: Narultimate Hero 3.

Yes, 8ing did develop DON.

Found the link on GameFAQs. It's a mere rip, tough. |
Good enough. I did like a few of them at least.
Just finished talking to Kaph bout the items. Good point cause some items aren't really that great like the weapons in ssbm. At least we have zabuza's sword !. |
The only somewhat useful items imo:
Stretching staff Bomb Katana If they ripped off the importance of items like they did with other stuff from SSBM, then I would actually bother picking them up. But now, they are just messing up my combos (it's not even worth throwing items at someone). |
