GFF Anime Club
Welcome to the GFF Anime Club. If you came in here for Cookie Monster, fat Cloud Strife, a potted plant, and a dog in a Wolverine costume then you'll be pleasantly surprised! If you came for anime well we got that stuff too. If you came to chat with other people about this business you're watching at the same time well then by golly you are in for a treat! Every Tuesday and Thursday at 8 PM Eastern Time I will be streaming around two hours of anime from two series for around the run time of three episodes each for a total of around six episodes of that stuff from Japan. I'll also be running six episodes of a third series on the weekend (could be Friday, Saturday, or Sunday depending on my schedule). "But how?!" you may ask. I've set up a webpage with all provided (even a chatroom!). Just visit it and it'll start streaming right away. http://www.thegond.com/gff/animeclub/12x12block.gifhttp://www.thegond.com/gff/animeclub/12x12block.gifCLICK HERE 4 DA ANIME CLUB STREAM this contains the original post - you can ignore it:

As of right now, I can't make either of those times, but a group gathering to watch stuff is always a fun idea, which is why Tails' simulwatches got attention.
|
Well I'm thinking of uploading the entire showing for Tuesday and Thursday each week either as groups of individual episodes or use procaster to record the show to my computer and then upload that for people to download. So you could download that at your leisure if you missed the show or just can't make it but still want to follow along simulwatch style. Would that work for you?
|
That would be awesome actually.
|
I wish there is real time stream chat for stuff on Hulu or CrunchyRoll, I wouldn't mind watching Gintama while chatting with friends. lol
|
Just to back up what I said in the last post I've created a test broadcast recording that lasts around 2 minutes of me skipping around two episodes of Astroboy 2003. If it's this easy then posting recordings of Tuesday and Thursday nights will be cake.
Check it out - http://www.thegond.com/gff/animeclub/test/ Now here's my question - do you want it to automatically play when opened or not? |
Ebichu please, i will watch then.
|
Autoplay is generally shitty; however, nobody will be navigating to drunkgff/animeclub without knowing what they're going there for. It's like an individual youtube page; the video is the main content. Especially considering how many times you had to remind people that autoplay was disabled on drunkgff last night, I think autoplay is probably better.
|
Yeah, I'm gonna agree with that. I've updated that page and drunkgff's page accordingly.
Boo has suggested Planetes and Dokkoida. I might as well tell you my picks - Princess Tutu, The Irresponsible Captain Tylor, and Hare+Guu. I will select one of my picks and deliberate on two others that you guys have and will suggest. Are you guys up for starting this Tuesday night? =o |
F yeah, Guu is awesome. I recommend doing it, though you'll want to make sure the people who are watching it are either stoned, or enjoy complete randomness.
My roommate is letting me borrow the Tylor dvds, but haven't sat down to watch them yet. |
I've been busy doing some copy pasting and tweaking of the drink on webpage to create an adjusted layout for dis anime club ting.
GFF ANIME CLUB - GAR MOE FUN FARTS YEAH Click on it check it out! Now with more ponies as requested by Infernal. <3 The Tutu, Ebichu, and Tylor images are meant to be temporary placeholders but if I don't get some good suggestions then I might just make that the line up. |
Whats your time zone again Acer. I'm trying to figure out if I could participate from Korea.
|
I'm all for this! But why DBZ of all things? :psyduck: Is it at least the re-done version that supercompresses it to a semi-tolerable length?
Haven't seen Azumanga or Bebop in AGES. I'd be all over this :3: |
Planetes would be great. When is this thing going to start? Or what.

Kaleido Star is awesome and anyone who objects to watching it should just fucking leave.
|
GMT: +9 hours
Seoul, SK |
I have installed a new driver for my wireless adapter, so I may be able to participate.
|
I'd be more inclined to participate if the shows being nominated weren't things I've already seen. Its almost as if they stopped making good anime when my interest in it dwindled.
Oh wait... |
When did you stop watching?
|
I was speaking mostly in jest, but if you must know, I think I stopped keeping up with anime around 2008.
My loss of interest could probably be blamed on the seeming impossibility of anything topping Gurren Lagann. It was pretty much "Huh, well, I guess that concludes anime." |
Quote:
But I'm pretty gun-ho on giving Bebop another run-through. It's a pretty awesome series. |
Quote:
lol Gurren Lagann. Anyway let me give you a list of all the awesome you have missed since 08! Kanokon Kemeko DX! Rosario + Vampire Strike Witches Akikan! Fight Ippatsu! Juuden-chan!! Kampfer Queen's Blade Ladies vs Butlers! Mayoi Neko Overrun! Look at any of those and tell me anime isn't still worth watching. (go watch Kaleido Star, Gech you faggot) |
I HAVE UPDATED THE OPENING POST. I THINK IT'S PRETTY GOOD.

Alright, I hope you guys are pumped for tonight. I think the discussion thus far has given me a good idea of what future shows to run. We'll be going with Princess Tutu, Oruchuban Ebichu, and Irresponsible Captain Tylor. For more information on them please click on the images in the opening post or the stream page.
Should things run smoothly the schedule should be as such: (adjust according to your timezone listed in the opening post) 08:00 PM - Princess Tutu - 01 08:23 PM - Princess Tutu - 02 08:47 PM - Oruchuban Ebichu - 01-02 09:09 PM - Oruchuban Ebichu - 03-04 09:29 PM - Irresponsible Captain Tylor - 01 09:52 PM - Irresponsible Captain Tylor - 02 10:16 PM - broadcast ends Total time: 2 hours 16 minutes |
Yay, Acer's doing this! I will tune in because I am a lazy slacker and have nothing better to do. Huzzah!
Also, suggestions of sci-fi/mecha stuff, because I care: another vote for Planetes (zomg hard sci-fi in anime!?) Zegapain (WATCH ZEGAPAIN) Gun X Sword (An idiot with a giant robot hell bent on revenge, and the most adorable girl ever) Dual! (Kind of like El Hazard with giant robots) Other random suggestions: Haibane Renmei (Qwarky approved!) Fruits Basket (D'AAAWWW) I may think of more later. |
|
Good stuff. Too bad it's so late for the East coast dudes. Tylor is awesome and shouldn't be missed.
|
8-10 is late for east coast?
|
Apparently. pansies
Or maybe they were all international. I wasn't paying that much attention. |
It's not that late actually. I'd be willing to go later and do more episodes of each series or even add an extra day if people are willing to stay up and watch that much.
Adding another episode to each show would have the show going until 11 PM. And if you guys wanted an extra day would you prefer Wednesday, Friday, or Saturday? Of course we'd need to consider that nutty has his radio show on Wednesday that I don't really want to conflict schedules with. The other thing is that Tails already has his anime simulwatches and I don't want to make this whole thing overcrowded although granted he isn't streaming and watching as a group can be done at any time with him. Now as for the broadcast. It went well. The turn out was actually a bit more than I expected. Around nine people for most of it as people (it maintained this even as people joined and left during various parts of the show) stayed up to the end of Ebichu and then people seemed to sky out when Tylor began. Not sure why. Maybe anime'd out or something. But there were 7 people watching by the end of the show which is pretty good. People seemed to have fun discussing the oddness of Princess Tutu, people loved Ebichu, and folks who stuck around for Tylor got to hear Gech, Ani, and myself wax on about it. In any case I certainly had fun. I'd love to know your thoughts on the shows and the format. Of course I want more people to partake and so for those who couldn't make it, came in late, left early, or just plain missed it I have uploaded the broadcast. You have a week to watch until next Tuesday's show is over and it is uploaded to take the place of this week's Tuesday show. Click to watch Tuesday's show |
I missed today's broadcast because I was attending a home-buying seminar, but I will watch what you've uploaded and hopefully be present for the next one.
|
If you wanna go longer at any point, I'd say Saturday night. The time window/stretch you occupied was pretty perfect for a weeknight, in my opinion :V Not too long, not too short. I probably won't swing by for Tutu in the fuutre (it usually kicks off around dinner time for me), but I'll definitely make time for Ebichu & Tylor :3:
Also, uploading it is sheer awesome. There was a minute or two of Ebichu that I can catch up on now. |
TONIGHT... =V
|
Why is chat so dead right now? Anyway, show is going on right now. Please join us. Schedule will be pretty much identical to last time.
|
I've updated the uploaded broadcast pages with new features! You can now seek in a video without having to load the entire god damn broadcast. Also I've added links that will jump right to where new episodes begin.
Thursday night's show had fewer people show up than last time a whole whopping 2 people but when a few people left some new faces came in to replace them keeping at least six people watching almost the entire time. However I'm very grateful people showed up. To be fair though chat was fairly quiet compared to Tuesday. I'm a bit disappointed in myself. I forgot to change the resolution down to 1280x720 and was running procaster from my default 1920x1200 resolution instead. I'm sorry if the stream seemed choppy at all because of this. I may rebroadcast tomorrow just to get a proper recording done. I'm also working on seeing if I can reencode the flv to make it smaller. Now I was talking with the folks in the stream and it seems like most won't be available for a Saturday broadcast. The weekends are a great time to do more episodes however people are just busy doing things, having fun, going out, etc. to really count on them. I may do some silly stuff or maybe a movie or something instead if I feel like broadcasting something on the weekend but since it's not in the scheduled format don't expect me to go upload it afterward. Speaking of uploads... Click to watch Thursday's show |
I am sad I missed it. I was feeling kind of sick and took one of my epic coma naps and slept right through it.
|
It was... epic.

Deni's avatar is the best avatar.

The sig isn't too shabby either.

Saw the re-run. Epic indeed. Hard to comment on it.

I'm loving anime club. I feel like I should invest in anime swag, fairy wings and also schedule my classes for fall semester!
|
<3<3<3 you guys
Gonna catch some sleep but holy crap do I want in on this fabulous ava/sig chain. Also I've been working on some stuff and I've found a new way to host the recorded broadcasts. If you watch them please let me know how they are working for you. I present to you: THE ARCHIVE |
Another vote for Planetes. Everyone should watch this gem of a show.
|
<----
My face. Acer, if you don't remove the ability to skip the translation notes (best part) I'm going to boycott you. |
I want in on this av/sig chain action too D: Sunfish's soulless eyes have bored in to my soul long enough.
|
All you gotta do is ask for a specific scene/screen/whatever. I did up the Tutu ones Deni/pack are sporting (as well as my own). Don't have Ebichu/Tylor so you'd have to ask Acer for those.

Haha I only put that there for people who aren't willing to sit through them miss any of the episode by skipping too far ahead.
I've been looking at the schedule and it's well paced to getting through about halfway though Princess Tutu and Irresponsible Captain Tylor by the end of July. However more importantly Ebichu will have finished on July 29. 7-13 tutu 1-2, ebichu 1-4, tylor 1-2 7-15 tutu 3-4, ebichu 5-8, tylor 3-4 7-20 tutu 5-6, ebichu 9-12, tylor 5-6 7-22 tutu 7-8, ebichu 13-16, tylor 7-8 7-27 tutu 9-10, ebichu 17-20, tylor 9-10 7-29 tutu 11-12, ebichu 21-24, tylor 11,12 8-3 tutu 13-14, ?? ??-?? , tylor 13-14 8-5 tutu 15-16, ?? ??-??, tylor 15-16 So yeah what do you propose we replace Ebichu with? It's a good slot to have another comedy or light-hearted show. As awesome as Planetes is I'd rather not have another sci-fi show going on at the same time as Tylor. It could work as Tylor's replacement though once that is done. The other thing is that I'm looking at the pace for which we could go through these shows. If we continue doing 2 episodes per series a night then we won't be done with Tutu and Tylor until August 24. That means we would be watching a 26 episode series for 13 days over 7 weeks. If we had gone for 3 episodes per series a night from the get go it would take 9 days over 5 weeks to watch a 26 episode series. Of course if you were to go with 4 episodes per series a night it would be even less but that's getting a bit heavy for a weekday night which brings me to my next thought. Is 3 episodes per series a night too much? Let's just look at the line up. If we average it out to 22 minutes per episode then that would be an hour and 6 minutes per series a night. Three series and that makes the broadcast run 3 hours and 18 minutes starting at 8 PM and ending around 11:20 PM. Would people be willing to do that? Would it be wiser to move the show up earlier to say 7:30 - 10:50 PM or 7:00 - 10:20 PM? The other thought of mine is that if we were to switch the schedule to 9 episodes a night instead of 6 episodes a night would we want to switch right away or wait until a halfway point. The halfway point going at 2 episodes per series a night is the end of July when Ebichu is currently scheduled to end and the other 2 series also are around their halfway mark. The week after that could start 3 episodes per series. Your thoughts, guys? |
Quote:
I don't see any reason why we have to have some special timing to change shit up. Its unlikely that the participants will suddenly be unable to join in because they didnt plan on an extra hour of anime. Additionally, keeping it at its current time is already probably straining the schedules of folks on the west coast. Moving it earlier more would probably just reduce participation or frustrate them. |
Yeah, true enough, pack. I need to remember that people out west have to start at 5 PM. Of course people can always catch up on what they've missed by watching the archives.
How do you guys feel about this? Ultimately it means more of the show(s) you like per week. Can you handle that much Ebichu, Deni? =') also got me a new ava/sig~ |
I may have to continue ignoring Tylor, but fuck yes, I can handle that much ebichu.
|
I don't think I'll be able to stay up watching animes that late. :( But I'm already catching up on a lot of the club via stream anyway, so!
|
if it's later i got to bail, since it's already late enough for me, or you could move and put ebichu first :]
|
Need a light-hearted comedy? Nodame Cantabile maybe? :V It's a pretty awesome series. Plus, Deni should see it to cater to his classical music fandom. I think some folks were suggesting Azumanga on the stream at some point, as well.
And as mentioned before, the present timeslot is pretty sweet, in my opinion. Extending or moving it would probably leave me sneaking out early or later. |
lurks, deni, gech, zip, and pack: you guys have been there for this from the get go and I aim to please my watchers in the stream. The point of me adding more episodes per show is that at the going rate it takes a month and a half to do a 26 episode series. If the episode count was raised by either adding 3 more episodes a night or adding a third viewing night then it would take only about a month's time instead.
Problem with adding a third day is when to do it. People are busy on the weekend although people did seem to be around in chat yesterday that probably could have done it. Wednesday would have us infringing on the beginning of nutty's radio show. So hmmm... Are you okay with it taking a month and a half to watch a show? Admittedly we would be always watching three shows at this pace but is this too slow or not? Oh and I figured out how to add skins to the archive's player so now it looks like the youtube skin~ |
I dont really mind, for me it's more about the chatting and goofing about whatever the hell we are watching. What you could do maybe is to take a poll after a week or two and see if people want to continue with the show or switch it maybe?
|
Hmm... true enough. I think people like the current line up but if there is ever an expressed interest to get rid of one of the shows and replace it I am up for the idea as long as it's majority.
|
Broadcast should be starting in 40 minutes but I'm doubtful I'll make it home in time. Sorry guys.
It'll be starting a bit later than usual. Expect me in anywhere from 8 to 8:30 PM. I'll hop into chat and grab people before I start the show. Again sorry for being late. |

I'm sorry there were technical difficulties tonight. I'm not even sure why or how. I kind of doubt a bunch of people were checking the archive while I was broadcasting and my bandwidth test show I can upload just fine (like 20 up) almost anywhere in the country. Thing is even I started getting choppy results on my laptop. This was during Cat Shit One where it was worst. I restarted my machines when Princess Tutu had similar choppiness and afterward it seemed to be fine for the most part. A few people out west still claimed that it was choppy for them. This kind of confuses me as the way livestream works is that I upload to them and then they broadcast to anyone tuning in. Perhaps livestream just had a rough night and my laptop needed a good restart to display it properly but nooo pretty much everyone said it was choppy to the max. I dunno I'll have to do more research because the recorded broadcast of Cat Shit One isn't choppy at all. I'll have to do more research on this.
Well as far as the regular broadcast went it seemed fine by me for the most part. Actually it's probably the highest number of people we've had so far. We kept up to ten people for the most part up until the end of Ebichu and then numbers started to dwindle down to seven when Tylor began. A little halfway after the first Tylor episode was done there were only three people and soon after that people just dropped out completely leaving me to watch the rest of that and the second Tylor episode alone completely by myself. :( Dwindling numbers for Tylor have been pretty consistent but this was pretty bad, guys. I hate to do this considering it is probably one my most favorite animes but unless I know people are watching it via the broadcast archives and/or enjoying it I might have to cancel Tylor or do something drastic like move Tylor up earlier into Ebichu's time-slot. I don't really want to do that as it might anger some who just can't stay up much longer to then watch Ebichu or it may backfire and people will just ignore the broadcast until Ebichu is on and skip out on both Tutu and Tylor entirely. I don't want any of that but I cannot help but say that the reaction to Tylor has been very disappointing since I regard it so highly. If you haven't even caught Tylor yet or miss it due to circumstances please give it a watch in the archives. I only wish to share it with you all but if it isn't what you want then well... please let me know. And here I thought increasing the number of episodes a night would be a good idea... nobody even stays to the end... kids these days don't know good anime... stay off my lawn... grumblegrumble... bitterbitter... Anyway, broadcast four is now available in THE ARCHIVES. If you missed Tylor (and you did miss Tylor ) then please use this opportunity to check it out. |
Well Acer you gotta remember you can't force people to watch stuff if they don't want to. I agree Tylor is great but I can understand if people aren't interested. I don't think Ebichu is all that spectacular (I can see why it's supposed to be funny, dirty hamster sex jokes hehe but Hamtaro is the only one for me sorry :() but I wouldn't particularly get riled up about people wanting to see it over Tutu. I can't really say I can stay beyond 9PM anyway because of work so my opinion on what you guys show doesn't mean much.
Oh and for lurker http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...NekoSensei.gif That said, this is really the point where Tutu starts to get interesting. I think some folks are missing out on the fact that Drosselmeyer has set all this up to be a tragic tale where nobody wins (Tutu vanishes if she confesses, Kraehe will never be loved no matter how hard she tries), which should have been p. obvious given all the emotions Ahiru ever found were negative. Is Fakir really a bad guy (FOOLED BY ALL THAT DELICIOUS BREAD) and what will he do now that EVIL CROW GIRL is here is only part of what makes the upcoming arc so fun to watch. If you're not sold on it by 13 I'll be incredibly sad. ;_; |
I think pretty much everyone is into Tutu. Ridiculous as it is. And it is fucking ridiculous.
I know, personally, by the time Tylor rolls around, son, I got shit to do. I just can't sit and watch that much anime without needing to get up and do something. |
I actually did a bit of thinking and if people don't really want to watch Tylor in our current schedule I can do three things.
Solution one: Tuesdays & Thursdays remove Tylor and instead show 3 episodes of Tutu and 3 episodes of Ebichu Saturday marathon 6 episodes of Tylor Solution 2: Keep current schedule but replace Tylor with another show people want to watch. Maybe still do marathon of Tylor on Saturday Solution 3: DRAGON! DRAGON! ROCK THE DRAGON! DRAGON BALL Z! |
I guess we could do a poll Acer, give priority to your regular viewers in the voting, so no random asshole chooses a show but never shows up to watch it.

I like the current line-up as it is. I may not stay for Tylor because I just happen to need to do other stuff during the timeframe it's being aired, but that is NOT AT ALL related to the show's quality nor your taste for anime, Acer. I've been watching it on the archive, dechu. Oh, and as a personal request, if you're running DBZ please only do so under these conditions: 1) Run DBZ Kai, not the original. 2) Avoid any dubbing other than the original Japanese voice acting. #2 is a very personal request; my body just simply cannot handle Goku/Gohan/Goten's voice not being that of Masako Nozawa's, dechu. |
I request if we watch DBZ it's whatever one isn't DBZ Kai, and you get English dubs in there.
Also, I'm watching Tylor on archive. So don't cut it outright. |
For you two I'm gonna make a special hell filled with sounds of Dragon Ball GT running simultaneously in Japanese and English and if I can find it Spanish set to video of Dragon Ball inverted, upside-down, and any other number of terrible effects I can get ffdshow video decoder to pump out. For Garr, he will get 20 minutes of powering up episodes with baby laughter.
But for serious I just don't want to be watching shows by myself is all I guess and while I don't want to cut Tylor I'd rather bump it to Saturday and play more Tutu and Ebichu on Tuesday and Thursday if it means people will stick around longer. This is basically me assuming that folks are having trouble handling more than two series in one night and compromising by pushing the third series to Saturday. If people are mostly just watching Tylor using the archives then it's just as well to bump a week's worth to Saturday which people can catch if they want to or view in the archives. How would you guys like that? I mean I know you really dig Tutu and Ebichu so more the merrier, right? |
Quote:
That Spanish sub BETTER have a real good sexy voice for Piccolo. >=( Honestly though, if it's for drink-on purposes where we're so plastered the content and the progression of the stories and the fights don't matter, then by all means, get the original series. I don't mind Bulma's panties and worthless running around side-stories. DBZ-Kai: 26 episodes of what roughly took 156 episodes of the original DBZ TV show. I'm only slightly exaggerating. |
Sorry that I've not been around the past few streaming sessions, but real life takes precedence of course. Gonna catch up through the archives this weekend.
I gotta be honest, I don't have much interest in watching Tylor. I can't quite figure out why that is though. I enjoyed it the first time I watched it. Might be the dubbing, might be the fact that I already saw it, or the graininess of the image, but whatever it is, I just don't feel too bothered if I miss it. |
Can we please watch Dragon Ball, like when Goku was a kid. That shit is much funnier then the whole fighting Z.

I will Merlin that shit starting with the final episode of Dragon Ball GT and ending with the first episode of Dragon Ball.
But seriously guys, my proposed schedule ideas - how do you feel about them? |
I'm fine with it either staying the way it is or moving Tylor to Saturdays.
|
I might hop in and force myself through Tutu in the archives, but outside of Ebichu-hour on Tues/Thurs, I can't really tie myself down for that long twice a week on this stuff :(
I can chop away 40-60 minutes for this stuff, though. Put it wherever and I'll swing by almost every time =o |
So yeah, any way I split it there are only 4 (or 8 considering they're 2 half episodes put together) episodes left. That means 2 episodes each on Tuesday and Thursday or if we go with the 3 episodes of 2 series a night thing I've been talking about then 3 on Tuesday and the final episode on Thursday which in that particular schedule leave a two episode gap. It's a shame it's such a short series but that's all there is available, period; just 24 short episodes, folks. Decide how you wish to watch it but we have a gap to fill. I'd prefer to go with a light-hearted comedy or well anything comedy really. First shows that come to mind are Seto no Hanayome, Jungle wa Itsumo Hare nochi Guu, and Azumanga Daioh. Any other suggestions? |
I vote Azumanga, so I can actually see what all this fuss and leek spinning is about.
|
But leekspin is from Bleach...
|
Indeed.
Azumanga Daioh is great enough on its own to merit a vote. http://www.gamingforce.org/staff/Qwa...5057982029.gif |
Alright, I've decided that I'm going to change how things are run. The broadcast will still be 8 PM EST Tuesday and Thursday for six episodes worth of time (so basically ending by 10:30 PM EST), but I'll be adding a third broadcast on the weekend. Tuesday and Thursday will have two shows three episodes each and the weekend broadcast will be six episodes of a third show not shown on Tuesday and Thursday. The weekend broadcast will preferably be on Saturday but if I'm busy that day then it will be done on Friday or Sunday.
I've decided to have Azumanga Daioh fill Ebichu's time-slot. Speaking of here's what to look forward to this week according to the new changes. Tuesday (tonight) Princess Tutu (9-11) Oruchuban Ebichu (17-22) Thursday Princess Tutu (12-14) Oruchuban Ebichu (23,24) Azumanga Daioh (1,2) Weekend (still deliberating which day) Irresponsible Captain Tylor (9-14) As you can see, on Thursday we will be transitioning from Ebichu to Azumanga Daioh. This works well since Ebichu will only have one final episode and Azu will have two episodes following it. I hope you all stick around. Azumanga Daioh is a wonderful series that a few of you have not seen yet and I imagine for those of you that have it's been quite a while so it will probably seem fresh again. Another thing to note: I will be turning the archive off during broadcast hours. I'm not yet sure if people accessing the archives during the broadcast last Thursday is to blame for the choppiness but just to make sure I'll be making the archive unavailable during the broadcast tonight. The archive will be turned on shorty after the broadcast is over. |
Azumanga Daioh is worth watching multiple times.
|
Alright the fifth broadcast is available in the archives. I'm gonna have to redo this one because that weird video lagging slightly behind the audio was also in the recording. I'm not sure why that happened. At least it wasn't choppy. However the choppiness didn't carry over to the recording last week. Weird.
Oh but I think tonight's two series broadcast was a success. Eight people stayed to the very end. <3<3<3 |
Alright tonight should be pretty awesome. We'll be moving towards the halfway point of Princess Tutu which should be epic as hell, then it's the final episode of Ebichu, and then we'll be starting up Azumanga Daioh.
I've actually have two version of Azumanga Daioh (three if you count the official dvds but those would be inconvenient to use) and I'm not quite sure which to use. I'm quite partial to the fansubs that came out years ago. The first 10 fansubs are redone DVD rips using subtitles from the collaboration of NLA, Ishin, & A-F which would then go on to form the fansub group known as Triad. After episode 10 the video quality lowers a bit but it's still NLA, Ishin, & A-F at the helm and I really enjoy their translation. The other version is a dvd rip with subtitles by KAA. While appreciate the effort KAA puts forth I find their subtitles harder to read. Notably they use a lot of pink text and if you've ever watched Azu before you know that pink text on what is going to be mostly pink background (be it actual background or students wearing pink uniforms filling up most of the screen) isn't going to fair very well. The video quality is quite clearly better though but it's not like the fansubs are bad at all and more importantly the fansub subtitles are much easier to read. Fansubs by NLA, Ishin, & A-F for Azu: + easier to read + biased: better writing style, word flow + translation notes intro - deni loves these - slightly less quality video - translation perhaps not quite as accurate - possibly less accurate translation but I never had any serious qualms with it DVD rip/resubtitle by KAA for Azu: + best video quality + possibly more accurate translation + translation notes a plenty during the show - subtitles are harder to read - biased: word flow and writing style seems to take a hit - translation notes during the show are hard to read So yeah, that said I'm leaning towards the original fansubs. I realize I'm biased so please let me know what you'd like. |
=( Sadly, I'll be catching up on the archives.
Acer: I've been watching the archives lately and it seems no matter what time or which archive stream I'm watching, the quality of the video's seem choppy. I've reset my modem and did all I could to defrag/refresh both computers I have hooked up to the same modem and tested the archive stream. Both seem to have the same choppiness regardless of the status of the other computer being on or off. I think it's just my ping/connection, but are there any other things I need to check on my end to determine the cause? |
Shorty, I'll have to be doing some experiments. I'm considering dropping livestream and switching to ustream. Suffice to say last night's broadcast recording is pretty much the worst one yet. I am not happy. I'll have the broadcast archive available eventually.
|
Broadcast 6 is in the archive now. Procaster now only supports h264 which is a bummer for me because however it saves it is really hard to edit with now. I'll be looking into that some more. In the meantime the broadcasts might have a little extra at the beginning and end showing my desktop.
But more importantly I will be starting the weekend broadcast in 30 minutes. Six episodes of Tylor. I'm not sure how many folks will show up but I'm watching Tylor either way. Also I've updated the opening post accordingly. |
Broadcast seven is available. Only Sim and Term showed up but that's understandable since it's the weekend and short notice and all. They stayed to the end which is wonderful. Anyway if you missed it you can catch up on Tylor all in one big ol' batch in the archive.
|
Starting tonight's broadcast. Come on in. 3 episodes of Tutu, 3 episodes of Azu.
Additional Spam: Well that was a disaster. Procaster went freaking psycho on me. Not sure where everyone was tonight. There were like four anonymous people in the stream and Tails and Radez for a little bit but that was it. I don't blame them though because the stream was pretty bad well actually after Radez came it was fine by then. I'm pretty confident that wowza media server has something to do with it. It's running on port 80 which procaster also uses. However I always stop the wowza service before starting procaster but I guess it's still using the same port for something in the background until it's completely shut down. I had no problems with the stream (besides h264 being ugly jpeg shit when there is too much movement on screen) once I turned wowza completely off. So short story - no broadcast archive for tonight. If you missed it you can catch it tomorrow when I try again. Additional Spam: Thanks to lurker I've revamped my code a bit. Wowza and Procaster seem to be playing nice now that I've changed Wowza's port. Hopefully tomorrow night's attempt will prove this configuration a success. Again <3<3<3 lurker~ |
Sorry Acer. Long weekend stuff.
|
I caught most of the Azumanga stuff but I was mostly away from my PC doing stuff around the apartment.
|
I know a bunch of you weren't able to catch Tuesday's broadcast and since I wasn't able to get a good recording of that I still need to rebroadcast it for archival purposes. I'll either do it after tonight's show or tomorrow night. I wanted to do it last night but I got distracted by Minecraft.
Anyway show for tonight coming up in about 30 minutes. |
I'm just having some bad luck with procaster. I decide to try the older version and it has these terrible connectivity issues while I broadcasted this weekend's Tylor. I'm gonna have to redo this one and last Tuesday as well. Hopefully lady luck will smile on me tomorrow. Sorry about not having the archive up to date this week.
|
Alright archives 8, 9, and 10 from last week are available now. Catch up on Tutu and Azumanga Daioh before tonight's broadcast if you can. Again I'm sorry about the huge delay.
While I still need to figure out a way to manipulate the h264 files that procaster saves to my computer for now I'll be using an older version of procaster that encodes using on2 vp6 which I find more appealing anyway. I will most likely turn off the archives during the broadcast as I had a few network issues while trying to use procaster, watch the stream on my laptop, run a minecraft server, and run wowza at the same time this weekend while recording Tylor. Not sure which part of that I'm not able to juggle but let's just say when I'm broadcasting that has highest priority and anything that gets in the way will get the axe during that time. I will be on vacation next week which means I probably will not broadcast next week (I'll post more on this when I have more details). This works well enough though considering Tutu and Tylor will be ending this week, buuuut I'll need replacement shows. I'm kind of leaning for Cowboy Bebop to replace either Tylor or Tutu (it's really a matter if you'd rather marathon it on the weekend or not) but I'm not sure what else I should get into the lineup. Additional Spam: Oh yeah and of course more Tutu and Azu tonight at 8 PM EST. Be there. Last week people were too busy or something. :( |
Alright last night's broadcast is available in the archive. Last night was pretty sparse. lurker was there the entire time which was pretty awesome and Tails and Deni came in for a bit. Last week's attendance wasn't that great, and the technical difficulties and the delay of archive broadcasts probably had something to do with that. If you can I'd highly recommend taking today and tomorrow to catch up in order to watch Thursday's finale for Princess Tutu. It's going to be fantastic. And of course the finale for Irresponsible Captain Tylor will be this weekend. Filming is Job 1!
Due to prior weekend plans I intend to show Tylor's finale on Friday night. I'll probably be far too busy Saturday night packing up for vacation. Speaking of, vacation will probably be a short one going to Wednesday which doesn't completely kill off the possibility of having a Thursday and weekend show next week. In the meantime I'd like to take suggestions on what you'd like as replacement shows for Tutu and Tylor. Like I said in the last post I'm leaning towards one of them being Cowboy Bebop as a few people have expressed interest in watching that already. Also might as well throw this one out. Now that I've pretty much managed to get through three shows how are you guys enjoying GFF Anime Club? Any suggestions? Any problems? |
It's pretty cool so far, but two hours a night is kind of a lot. I understand why you chose that long of a time, especially considering how annoying some people get when they really like a show (me). I don't know what the solution should be, I'm just putting my thoughts out there.
|
Yeah, on the old format people started leaving after Ebichu was over which was about about an hour and a half into the broadcast. Seemed to be a combination of people not really caring about tuning in for Tylor after that and it being time to sleep or that's enough of dese animows for tonight for me thanks. Currently it's like 2 hours and 15 to 30 minutes a night.
My main problem with reducing it from six episodes to four episodes per broadcast is that it'll take longer to get through a show, but if you guys would prefer that then I'm flexible. I'm still gonna go by only having two different series a night max though. You guys clearly couldn't handle three, so moving the third series to the weekend was a good idea. I just need to be more consistent when airing it and giving out notice. It's kind of strange running this show. It's three times a week and if I'm late it's usually only 30 minutes max but it's very different from doing Drink On. However I guess it really depends on the show and the willingness of the audience to stick around. I got like 10 people to watch all of Detroit Metal City after already being up very very late after Drink On was over. That was three hours. Key difference is that people were ready for Drink On and any staying up late fun times and also it was the weekend. I'm all for awesome marathons like that and if people would rather do big marathons on the weekend instead of this tri-weekly thing I'm okay with that too. Really all I'm looking for is commitment to whatever it is you guys want to do, but then again as long as I have awesome viewing buddies like you, packrat, Deni, and Tails I'm fine keeping it to a low crowd as long as you all are happy. |
Yeah I gotta support my drink on bro <3
|
Because we eeeepic.
|
<3 you guys~
Don't forget to catch up on Tutu for tonight's finale. Also again with the bringing up of the new shows that you wanna watch, yeah? |
Watch The Big O
(because you're all tomatoes) |
I wanna watch something WEIRD and SURREAL. Tutu is bringing it (magical girl ballerina, neko-sensei, the various animal students (oh my god the snake lady)) but I require more.
|
Well if you want trippy there's always Kaiba (or any of Masaaki Yuasa's recent works) or Dead Leaves. DL is a movie (55 minutes long), but you should watch it as an in-between while you decide on another show because it rules so fucking much.
|
Kaiba sounds awesome actually.
Anyway gonna be late cuz of storms and horrible traffic. I may be starting the show at 9 PM because of this shit. :( I'll post again or in chat or both before I start the show. Gotta get folks in for the Tutu finale. |
Sorry for being late tonight but I think it worked out pretty well starting later as more west coast folks were able to join in on the fun. In fact seven people showed up for Princess Tutu's farewell. I hope you all enjoyed it as it's one of my favorites. =)
I will be showing the last six episodes of Tylor tomorrow night if all things go well. Please join to see the captain at his finest. It'll be a whirlwind of emotions, despair, action, and last minute surprises to see the crew of the Soyokaze off to go boldly. Oh and tonight's broadcast is already up and available in case you missed it. I'd love to know what you thought of Tutu. <3 |
If I told you the broadcast of Tylor went without a hitch that would be a lie. Livestream took a dump about halfway into it so I'll need to rebroadcast for the archives.
Anyway, thanks for showing up, Deni and Dull. :spacesalute: Oh and some time I'll have to show the Tylor OVAs. I think I'll show Cowboy Bebop first unless you all would like more Tylor sooner rather than later. |
Vacation was longer than expected. I'll do a rebroadcast of the last six episodes of Tylor sometime either tomorrow or Monday.
I haven't quite determined what to replace Tutu with. Kaiba seems interesting enough but I'm still open for suggestions. I'm pretty set for doing Cowboy Bebop on the weekend unless you'd prefer it in the weekday slot. It's been a week and if you guys have had any thoughts on how this should be better run or if you'd prefer Cowboy Bebop on the week days instead or well anything I'd really like you to voice your thoughts in this thread. |
I want to watch the Royal Tenenbaums and the Amelie animes.
|
I'm afraid I don't follow.
|
Is there anyone who hasn't watched Cowboy Bebop on Adult Swim 5x already? Those were the good days.
|
Yeah, which kind of makes it amusing to show on a Saturday considering Adult Swim does that anyway. Still, it's been a while for me now and it seems that not everyone has seen it yet.
|
Can someone awaken me from my slumber when you guys decide to do Legend of the Galactic Heroes? I'll probably join in for that since it's a show I've been sorta wanting to watch for awhile now, but need a nudge to actually follow through with it.
|
So is this like an online anime club? I used to be in one back in my hometown. I wish I still was. But if this is online and if it has open membership I would love to be a part of it!
|

|
In honor of Satoshi Kon we will be watching Paranoia Agent instead of Kaiba. May he rest in peace. :(
|
Finish it up by watching Perfect Blue.
|
That Paranoia Agent was pretty kool. This from somebody who hasn't watched anime and liked it for 5 years or so.
|
Yeah, I haven't seen it before either. Looking forward to the rest of this show. =)
As usual Azumanga Daioh was adorable. Thanks for sticking around with me, magi. I should have tonight's broadcast up later tonight or tomorrow morning depending upon me passing out or not. I'll try to rebroadcast Tylor's final six episodes tomorrow night for the archives. |
Managed to rebroadcast Tylor remotely. It and last night's broadcast are now available in the archives. Enjoy. =)
|
Tonight's broadcast is available. Not many people stuck around for much of it though. :(
At least I had Deni and Dull around for a bit of Azumanga Daioh. Paranoia Agent was awesome as usual. I'm not entirely sure where they're really going with this but it sure is interesting to watch. Paranoia Agent and Azumanga Daioh will be ending next week. I'll be replacing Paranoia Agent with Kaiba but I'm not sure what should replace Azu. Something lighthearted or comedy would probably be best. Any ideas? =o |
Galaxy Angels.
All of it. |
Even the really shitty fansubs that I have of it? ='D
|
Galaxy Angel is such a terrible show on every objective level but I love it so
|
I'll be starting Cowboy Bebop in like a minute or so. If you're interested feel free to join in. Sorry for the late notice.
|
Cowboy Bebop was great. It's been forever since I've seen it and I must say it's still just as good as I remember it.
Thanks for sharing the experience with me lurks, skex, and rock. <3 As usual the broadcast is now available in the archives. |
I might end up being an hour late tonight but still here's a heads up for more Paranoia Agent and Azumanga Daioh tonight. Hope to see you guys there. =)
|
You betta believe I'm running home <3
...in 1.5 hours. ;_; o fuck this 9-6 pst work sked. |
Encoding tonight's broadcast right now. We had a nice turn out. Lots of chatter. I had a great time with you guys. =)
Anyway giving a heads up for Thursday's broadcast. Since Paranoia Agent only has four more episodes left we'll be doing all four on Thursday in addition to the last three episodes of Azumanga Daioh. Yup, you heard right - seven episodes in order to finish both shows up. I'll be replacing Paranoia Agent with Kaiba come next week. I'm not decided on what I should put in Azu's timeslot yet. I'm thinking Seto no Hanayome might be a good fit considering it's both comedy and a great way to end the summer. What do you guys think? =o Additional Spam: Tonight's broadcast is now available in the archives. Enjoy! |
Is anyone partial with Zetsubou Sensei series? I can't stand watching that shows by myself, but I tend to have a lot of fun watching with other people.
|
I just want to say that Kaiba is ridiculously crazy. I very much enjoyed watching the anime about a year ago.
|
Shorty, I love Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. I actually made a dumb reference yesterday during the family suicide episode of Paranoia Agent. I will definitely consider it.
Hyde, that makes me even more pumped for it. =) |
Seriously, it's the same guy that did Cat Soup. And we all know that Cat Soup is Hello Kitty on acid. Kaiba is like The Little Prince of shrooms.
|
Haha I loved Cat Soup (movie and tv show).
Anyway tonight's show will be running longer like I explained. I might be a bit late. I'll post again when I'm about to start. Hope to see you guys in the stream. =) Additional Spam: Alright, starting in a couple minutes. Get in the stream. =) |
I kept forgetting but last night's broadcast is now available in the archives. I'll probably show Cowboy Bebop on Saturday again. Look forward to it. =)
Oh and I'm going to be doing 7 episodes this weekend and then 6 episodes the next weekend and then 7 episodes for the final weekend broadcast. That way this 26 episode series will be done in 4 weeks. I may start a similar pattern with other shows. I'll have to look at the numbers. |
Hey Acer, I can't seem to access any of the archives. :(
|
My bad. I've been doing a bunch of testing on my computer which required restarts and other junk. Sorry about that. They'll be back.
Anyway I'm about to start Cowboy Bebop. Please join in. =D |
Ah, well it wasn't the testing that did this. Yeah... hmmm... well it's fixed now. Archives are back up. Let me know if they go down again. <3
Last night was pretty fun. Had about four people watching off and on. Unfortunately no archive show will be available. The stream broke about halfway so I'll have to rebroadcast the show sometime for the archives. Oh and while I'm settled on Kaiba I wanted to get some opinions on what you want for the second show for Tuesdays and Thursdays. I'm leaning towards Seto no Hanayome but there has been some interest for Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei and even Galaxy Angel. Please let me know before I go and make the decision for you~ |
I'm actually interested in Seto no Hanayome since I've never seen it. :) If you can shift that to the later part of the shows since I'm alllllways late to these things, I'd be most appreciative <3
|
I found out that I downloaded Kaiba, but I never watched it. The others, I don't know of.
If it helps, I like the surreal shit. Or the awesome shit; cf. Bebop. |
Alrighty, I've got Kaiba and Seto no Hanayome queued up and ready to go. Please join me in the stream. =)
|
w00t~ I'll be joining in about quarter hour :)
|
Tonight's broadcast is available in the archives now. Seto no Hanayome was a big hit. If you want some great comedy you should absolutely tune in. Kaiba was very weird, interesting, and kinda depressing. Needless to say I want to find out what happens next. If you missed out then please hit up the archives.
I'll probably end up doing a rebroadcast of Bebop tomorrow if I can find the time. |
I had some problems starting the stream. Gonna have to work on that. I found a workaround for the time being. So yeah we're about halfway through. Sorry that I forgot to make a post but I was busy trying to solve this problem.
So yeah feel free to join in for some Seto no Hanayome. We're just starting it. Kaiba was freaking woah as usual. |
I know I still need to rebroadcast last weekend's episodes but this weekend needs airing too. Starting Bebop very shortly. Join in if you like. =)
Additional Spam: Livestream is doing maintenance right now and unfortunately pretty much nothing works on their website be it channels or their forums. So yeah the broadcast is boned until they get things running again. :( Additional Spam: Alright, the stream is back. I'm just gonna start over since we had only gotten to episode two. |
is the stream going on tonight? :)
|
My bad. Yeah, I started super late. Also I'll need to broadcast this again cuz tech difficulties and crap.
|
Just started the show. Also Kaiba will be ending this broadcast so I'll have to find a replacement for it. Anyway come on in the stream and watch with us. =)
|
Well Kaiba was woah. And thus another interesting show is over which means we need another. I've compiled a list of shows that look like they'd be interesting to watch similar to Princess Tutu, Paranoia Agent, and Kaiba. Take a look and let me know what you think, what you'd like, any suggestions, and well anything really.
Read or Die OVA Fantastic Children Haibane Renmei Windy Tales Twin Spica Hanada Zettai Shounen Freedom Stellvia of the Universe |
All of those look like pretty great options.
My only preference is against Haibane Renmei. It is an absolutely fantastic work and everyone and their mother should watch it; but I've already seen it before. However, if anyone else votes for it, you'll hear no complaints from me. |
My bad, I've started the weekend broadcast again without updating this thread before hand. Yeah so we be watching Bebop. About 4 episodes in. It ends tonight. I might show Cowboy Bebop the Movie next weekend. That said I'm gonna need a replacement show for Bebop too.
|
Alright so tonight a new show starts. Pang says Windy Tales looks cool. Deni says Zettai Shounen looks cool. Deni also says we should marathon One Piece. However, I have to pick one. Let's see...
also gonna start later tonight... my bad etc... Additional Spam: Okay let's CHOCODECIDE~ http://www.thegond.com/gff/rp/chocodecideanimow1.gif http://www.thegond.com/gff/rp/chocodecidedanimeee1.gif or hmmm maybe do the batch i had ealier http://www.thegond.com/gff/rp/chocodecideanimow2.gif http://www.thegond.com/gff/rp/chocodecidedanimeee2.gif I just don't know.... |
I vote you just stream yourself banging your head against a wall
(Gently) |
Windy Tales got two votes.
Pang and chocodecide. Make it so. |
Alrighty~ Windy Tales it is~
Getting it ready~ see you guys in an hour or two~ Additional Spam: STARTING THIS SHOW THING GO GO GO GO GO |
Okay it's getting to be that time of Thursday night again. And I'm probably gonna be late again cuz I'm duumb. Yeah I'll post again when the show is gonna start. See you guys in a few. =)
Additional Spam: Oh yeah. Starting the show. Get in da stream =o |
I was planning on showing Cowboy Bebop Knockin' on Heaven's Door tonight but since I plum forgot about it and watched Annie and Back to the Future instead. Also chat is deeeead. I can wait and do it tomorrow when this place is a bit more lively.
|
Get in the stream, faggots.
|
Alright, I used last night and this afternoon to play catch up. The archive is now up to date.
In about two hours at 8 PM EST I will show Cowboy Bebop the Movie. I'll make another post at around the time of its start. Hope to see you guys there. =) Additional Spam: Starting the show very shortly. Additional Spam: looool black magic'd the thread right after pack bumps it =') |
Last night was fun. Someone made an Inception joke towards the end of the Bebop movie and so I kidded that up next would be Paprika. People showed enough disappointment in my joke to actually want to watch it so I put that on after the initial broadcast. Both broadcasts are in archive.
General consensus has approved Planetes as Bebop's replacement and thus I will be making a logo for it soon enough. |
Alright starting the show soon.
|
Sweet. Planetes is fantastic.
|
Not gonna lie, I was thinking of Planetes whenever they showed the rubble surrounding Earth in Bebop.
:nerd: |
Tonight's Seto no Hanayome subtitles are brought to you by the number potato and the color HUUURRRR.
Yeah, so I accidently deviated from my plan. I meant to show episode 10 of Windy Tales tonight. That means I'll be doing 4 episodes of Windy Tales in addition to the 4 planned episodes of Seto no Hanayome. Look forward to Thursday night being a long one. |
Alright gonna start this very soon. Tonight's gonna be a long one. 8 episodes.
|
Thursday was one hell of long night. I'll try not to have to pull eight episodes like that if I can help it. That said I recall there being a pretty high attendance. I will be airing the final episode of Seto no Hanayome to finish up that cliff-hanger we left on followed by two OVA episodes on Tuesday to give the show a proper send off.
Now that wind/space cats dem hips the anime is over with I'm happy to announce that it's replacement will be Twin Spica or Futatsu no Spica for you purists out there. I hope to see Saka and Paco attending. Look forward to that starting Tuesday. =) With Bebop over I will be playing six episodes of Planetes tonight. If you want to see a realistic science fiction show then this is top billing. Should be spectacular. |
Alright, starting the show now.
|
Hey Acer, thanks for the periodic IMs telling me about what's on your airing schedule. It's just that I'm typically not around during the times you start broadcasting, so I never show up. I'll try to make it in one of these days. It's been a while since I've seen the fantastic Mr. Eyebrowless, after all...
|
<3<3<3~
Yeah, sorry it starts so early for people on the west coast but I just can't really start much later over here. Anyway, hope to see you there sometime. =) |
I'm honestly a little curious how often people check the archives. It wasn't until today that I noticed that most of last week's encodes did not have any sound. I'm not sure what's causing that so I'm using their original flv recording files for the moment but I certainly would have found out sooner if it had been reported in here before hand. I should not be blaming anyone though since it's quite possible that most folks made it to the shows they wanted to see last week and didn't need to watch the archives at all. I'm just saying should you come across an error that I'd love to know so I can fix it. That said I still need to make Saturday's Planetes available.
We'll be starting Twin Spica tonight and finishing Seto no Hanayome and it's two OVA episodes. See ya there. =) Additional Spam: The show will be starting shortly so head to the stream soon. I'm actually home early for once~ |
I'll be playing more Mr. Harmonica Lion's Sweet Ride tonight followed by the comedy replacement for Seto no Hanayome and one of my all time favorites, Jungle wa Itsumo Hare nochi Guu (Hare+Guu or just Guu for short). I really hope to see you there.
In the meantime I'm going to re-encode some of my archives and make Tuesday's broadcast available soon so you can catch up on Twin Spica. |
Alright I'll be starting soon. =Y
|
I wanted to do the broadcast yesterday but yardwork decided I'd be broken for the evening.
So tonight I'll be showing seven episodes of Planetes. Hope to see you there. =) Additional Spam: Alright starting tonight's show. I might have an extra portion after Planetes if people want to stick around. |
Tonight was fun. I showed Ika Musume and Ponyo after the show and Talec brought in a few of her friends. It was amusing. Ponyo starts and suddenly we have like 6 anonymous people watching. Thanks for coming everyone. =)
Oh and I had a few broadcast issues so I'll have to rebroadcast these sometime for the archive. |
Sorry for the late start. I've got everything ready to go now. See ya in the stream!
|
Thursday show coming up soon. =)
|
Planetes time. Hope to see you there. =V
|
I'm currently doing a rebroadcast of Thursday night since I believe I had errors. In any case I don't have it in the archive yet. What I'm getting at is if you're bored and missed last Thursday then feel free to watch if you'd like.
|
lol turned out i merely misplaced that broadcast so i didn't need to do that after all
anyway i've just started tonight's show if you care to join |
I can't wait to see Spica on archives <3
|
I keep forgetting to do the archives. So tired lately my bad.
Also traffic was a bitch so sorry for the late start. I'll begin the tonight's broadcast soon. |
Okay I was too busy last night to do a Saturday show and I don't particularly wish to stay up late watching anime so I'm just going to finish up Planetes right now. See ya in the stream or maybe not.
|
Alright if you're in for Guu then tonight is your night as Twin Spica's final two episodes are shown that leaves an opening to fill - an opening for more Guu!
Again, sorry about the archive stuff. I'll try to get around to doing that for all my various streams sometime. It just keeps piling up. =I Additional Spam: In the middle of watching Guu. Where are the people? =( |
I was working late and too tired to sit in front of computer. :(
I've noticed you haven't gotten a chance to put the archives up yet. I'd love to catch up on Spica and Planetes once you can. <3 |
I'll probably work on the archives this weekend. I'm busy working on something something and running the broadcasts. Again sorry about the archives.
Also I'm pretty sure I passed out while watching last night. Not that it matters cuz after Twin Spica was over Pang and Hawkeye disappeared and noone ever joined after besides Worm but I have no idea when he hopped in and if it was over by then cuz I zzzzz... yeah so bad attendance last night. :( |
Tonight we'll be watching two episodes from the action packed adventure filled twin towers eagletear'n woah what is she fighting with paper'n Read or Die OVA followed by three episodes of Guu.
If you haven't seen Read or Die yet please join in. It's a lot of fun. =) |
Alright, we finished Planetes last weekend. Since I'm not quite sure what I want to replace it yet I think I'm just going to take a break. I may do a rebroadcast of something this weekend though and work on the archives. I must say though that attendance has been lower than usual this week. Might have something to do with me not keeping up with the archives or it might be that people just weren't into the line-up. Anyway in the mean time please name drop suggestions for the third slot.
|
Hurrah! I've gotten the archives up to date. I might want to rebroadcast 006, 007, 009, 029, 030, and 035 sometime. They seem to have a few encoding issues. Other than that everything is available for anime club archives now - all 42 broadcasts.
|
Hi folks! It's come to that time again where we must choose the line-up again. Two shows will be ending tonight and we still haven't a replacement for the weekend slot.
If people are enjoying Guu then the second slot can continue with the Guu OVAs which up the ante even more. If people are enjoying the Read or Die OVA then we can watch the TV show which follows after the events of the OVA for the first slot. I must express that while good the TV show is not nearly as good as the OVA in my opinion. Other possible shows for the first slot include: Fantastic Children Haibane Renmei Hanada Zettai Shounen Freedom Stellvia of the Universe Running a blank here for what I want to put in slot 3 - the weekend show. I'm open for suggestions. Typically I go with the first slot being for interesting or alternative shows, the second for light-hearted and/or comedies, and the third for awesome but usually it's been sci-fi. If you have suggestions for any of these slots please let me know. If you have any other suggestions for the show in general I'm all ears too. |

Okay show coming up in 30 min to an hour depending on traffic. Look forward to the end of R.O.D and Guu~
Additional Spam: Okay I'm ready to start now. |
Alright I haven't seen any ideas here (besides Tails =I) and the people in the stream seemed to be up for the idea of watching Guu Deluxe and R.O.D TV so I guess we can do that. Any objections?
Also I still need a weekend show. Any ideas there? |
Tonight's show is cancelled due to work.
I might make it up tomorrow. Man... Additional Spam: Oh... shit worked itself out. The show must go on then! although pack says to wait a bit and I still have to drive home yeah we gonna start this shit real late tonight - sorry for the inconvenience |
This just means West-coasters have .
|
aww, the one day i come home early because i have an excuse to.
oh well. Time to catch up on what I missed WAW yesterday! |
Haha yeah you still showed up after the first episode even though I started super late. =')
Anyway sorry for passing out again (long day) but it's alright cuz I need rebroadcast last night after the episode order screw up for Guu Deluxe. Additional Spam: Current lineup is R.O.D The TV and Guu Deluxe. I have not quite decided what I want to do for the weekend. Really looking for people to throw out suggestions here and not me talking to myself all the time. =I Otherwise I guess we could go back to Tylor and show the OVAs or perhaps some Gunbuster and then Diebuster (or whatever it's called~ GROOOOOOOVIN MAGIC). |
I'm putting in my vote for Haibane Renmei and Hanada.
|
Hi Shorty~ tnx for postin~
I'm not necessarily against running either of those two shows on the weekend but both of those were suggestions for slot 1 which is meant more for interesting/alternative shows. That said R.O.D The TV has been picked for slot 1 and it will be running for 26 episodes. Here's my post again: Quote:
But I aim to please and if you guys want to watch a little boy help dead people or hang out with angels on the weekend instead of blasting holes through space and romping on an adventure with a crew of varied misfits then that's cool. Since R.O.D The TV fills that requirement to an extent I'd be fine with any of the shows from that list. Any other suggestions that I haven't listed that might be good? |
Oh yeah, I didn't mean those two shows together necissarily. Those two are just the ones that pulled my interest at the time. =P I'm happy with either or.
I'm really liking the R.O.D series so far. I went to my local library and got a library card. (LOL) All the anime shows I want to watch are from the 90's so I doubt it'll be easy getting them. :( I'm anxiously waiting for Naoki Urasawa's PLUTO (adaptation of Astro Boy) to come out on animated screen. <333 If you guys are interested, Mizuki Shigeru series are available for bittorrent download (<3). It's a little old fashioned 80's animu about Japanese ghosts/spirits/goblins, but it might fit the "wierd/funny" category for sure. I have no idea if it's subbed or not, which would likely be the challenge. :( |
Gegege no Kitarou has been remade a gazillion times. Not sure where to even start. Doesn't look like much has been subbed and lots of dropped projects.
http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl...creatorid=4341 Also shorty I know you didn't mean them together. My point is I'm not sure either of those two shows fit slot 3 (the weekend slot) all that well. Slot 1 is already taken by R.O.D The TV which is the slot I think they'd work better in. Not saying I can't mix things up if people want that. |
Since noone decided to really discuss this besides Shorty and myself I've decided to turn the weekend show into movie night for the time being.
Tonight we will be watching Yoshitaka Amano's 1001 Nights and Osamu Tezuka's Metropolis. It shall be a night for the arts! Don't miss it! |
Alright I'm running a little late. I should start the show in like 30 min to an hour depending on traffic. More R.O.D TV and ending Guu Deluxe. See ya then~
|
Starting very shortly. I'm actually almost punctual tonight! How about that~
Right! So more R.O.D The TV and starting Guu Final. You didn't think Guu was over yet did you? =E Hope to see you in the stream~ |
Bleh, going over to mom's tonight and doing laundry. I'll catch you guys on the archives~.
|
I need to catch up on doing archives. Sorry about that, Shorty.
In the meantime I'm totally hating myself right now so we're going to watch Melody of Oblivion which is in my opinion quite possibly the worst anime ever made. Be sure to tune in and suffer with me! I should be starting in 20 minutes. Be there~ Additional Spam: Starting very soon now. This will truely be terrible. I am so sorry. So sorry that I will only be showing 4 episodes. Perhaps more tomorrow if you feel up the challenge. |
Those 4 episodes were so terrible, it felt like 13 episodes.
I'd say that I don't know what to think about this, but I've decided that the best option is to not think about it. Seriously, busbull. |
A bus will never be the same. Ever.
|
I'm not going to be able to do anime club tonight. I could however do it this afternoon. I know it's not the usual time and a lot of folks might not be able to make it. I can either just not have it today at all or do it sometime this afternoon. What would you guys like me to do?
|
I was able to make it and this is what I get, no Guu or sister-trio ;_;
Since I'm here, I might as well recommend some stuff for you to watch. Photon, AIKa, Rocket Girls, and Votoms OVAs and and Airmaster and Strike Witches and Legend of the Galactic Heroes and Spoiler:
|
I talked with lurks and after mulling over details I've decided it best to just take the day off. This works well enough considering there are two broadcasts left for Guu Final and since I won't be doing a broadcast next Thursday (Thanksgiving duuuh) I'd rather not start a new show in slot 2 for a week without a Thursday broadcast.
So schedule should be This week: Tuesday: Nothing Thursday: R.O.D The TV, Guu Final Weekend: Melody of Oblivion Next Week: Tuesday: R.O.D The TV, Guu Final Thursday: Nothing (it's Thanksgiving) Weekend: T.B.A. |
TIME TO ZOOOM ZOOOM VROOOOOOOM
show in like 30 min to an hour WE DOIN THIS THING TONIGHT PREPARE YOUR FACES FOR ANIMATIONS FROM JAPAN |
OKAY IF YOU WANT HORRIBLE ANIME THEN GET IN THE STREAM NOW
WE DOING 11 EPISODES OF MELODY OF OBLIVION 6 EPISODES, A SHORT BREAK, THEN THE LAST 5 ARE YOU MAN ENOUGH TO HANDLE ALL THE SHIT HEADING YOUR WAY?! GET IN THE STREAM AND FIND OUT |
I will try to have a show tonight but I may have other obligations that get in the way though. I'll post in here again if I'm able to broadcast tonight.
|
Oh, I kind of forgot about today's potential show. I can't even recall what I even wanted to show either. I could possibly do it tomorrow whatever that show might be. SHOW SHOW SHOW SHOW SHOW SHOW SHOW
|
Instead of catching up on the archives I have been doing broadcast experiments. They are proving questionable. I have learned things but I am not quite happy with the results. Not yet anyway. The archives will happen eventually. Why do I procrastinate this badly? It is horrible.
Sorry about last week but family, Thanksgiving, and being sick got in the way. I think I've figured out what the next shows will be though. I'll have to draft out a schedule of some sort. Obviously I will have to make considerations for Christmas and New Years whatever day they fall on. Oh looking ahead they appear to both be on Saturdays. So perhaps I will have to move the usual Saturday show to Friday or Sunday or something if I'm not feeling particularly lazy. |
Well I've done more testing and I think I'm ready to start doing high quality broadcasts (we're talking great audio/video quality and 30-60 fps, baby!). I'll be ditching livestream in favor of justin.tv.
I'm not entirely happy with this as justin.tv has an annoying logo in the corner but after watching a bunch of stuff it pretty much becomes background noise. Also the archives will not have the justin.tv watermark as that's just something idiotic they put in the embedded player and isn't actually recorded as part of the video you'll see later (whenever I get around to doing any of them - GAH!). Everything else in the player fades away, why they don't make their logo one of them I'll never understand. Another thing is they have a 15 to 30 second video ad before you start playing. Now with ad-blocker plus with the EasyList (English) subscription in Firefox I've never once gotten an ad. However I also have a justin.tv account so that might be the difference between myself and say packrat who always seems to get them despite his having ad blocker plus. The other annoyance of the justin.tv embedded player is it does not auto-start so you'll have to press the play button and it always has its volume at half despite my customizations which should work but don't. I don't know why justin.tv has to be such a dick about their embedded player but they are but it works well despite these small grievances. I originally wanted to host all this on my awesome connection but it would seem I don't really have enough bandwidth to support such an endeavor (I couldn't count on streaming more than say 4 people on my server). Also with livestream gone so are the silly youtube videos that play when I'm not broadcasting live. I could always manually play a few silly clips before and after the show to compensate for this though. However, change can be good and I look forward to seeing how well this works for you guys. Please let me know if you have any issues with the stream tonight. I'd really like to see as many folks as possible to get a good stress test and of course varied feedback. Hope to see you tonight as we finish Guu Final and continue our romp through R.O.D TV. I'm currently looking into the future line-up. I'll have more on that later. |
I got some interesting results on Tuesday in regards to audio quality. I'll be trying a few more tweaks tonight.
We'll be starting Cromartie High tonight. I believe I'll be watching it in Japanese with English subtitles. I might do an additional screening of the same episodes dubbed in English later for comparison. It does have a good English dub. Anyway I'll see you guys probably in like 30 min to an hour. |
Due to drink-on this Saturday I will not be having a weekend show. However, next weekend I should be able to start a new show that I've been bugged to watch for years. Hopefully it will prove its worth as being as awesome as its been foretold.
|
Oh boy oh boy oh boy! So excited.
|
Yes, I know you are. =)
Also in the meantime you'll be happy to know that I am encoding broadcasts 44 to 50 for the archives. Hard to believe it's already been that many. As a note to myself I need to rebroadcast 46, 51, and 52. |
Alright the episodes I have encoded are available in the archives now. I still have to add the chapter bookmark timing thingies but they're perfectly watchable in the meantime so those who may have been boycotting the show cuz you couldn't catch up here's your catch up in bulk.
|
oh lol hello time i forgot about you
okay i'll be starting the show in like 45 min to an hour sorry~ see ya soon~ |
Attendance was piss-poor on Tuesday. That's partly my fault for starting so late. Well I'm probably gonna start in like an hour tonight. Hope to actually see people stick around for more than 10 percent of it.
|
Ok, since you asked... suggestions for whatever slot R.O.D. TV was in (and I'll hold the mecha since you know what).
Black Lagoon (Was on the Simulwatch list, before it died) Darker than Black (Chinese Electric Batman season is fun, Magical Girl Sniper season is ok) Tetsuwan Birdy DECODE (RIP AND TEAR. Also, has Norio Wakamoto in it for back to back with Mechazawa) Last Exile (an all around amazing show) Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (Soooooo much better than the first FMA. Maybe too long though?) |
I've been meaning to ask. Did they watch any anime besides Baccano? I know they were planning on watching Trapeze but I'm not sure if they did or not. Did they even finish watching Baccano?
|
I don't think so. Last post in the thread is from August, and they hadn't finished Baccano! at that point.
|
So I was thinking perhaps we could take a bit of a breather from extended or multi-season series, and delve into some of the more obscure and one-off anime shows or movies. I'm thinking stuff like what Studio 4°C, Robot, or Grasshoppa! churn out.
I have a few specific suggestions (and can provide content if necessary). |
I'd love to know what you're thinking there, pack. Also do you consider 26 episode shows multi-season? I guess you could. I just seem to default that as a one season show for some reason. Bleh.
Anyway we starting Zegapain soon. Just wanted to give people the heads up before I start the stream. |
Well from talking around it seems that Tails may have finished Baccano with diss and lurker privately and opted to not mention it anymore in the forums since they are easiest to contact in chat. In that case I will eventually have to run Baccano and possibly Trapeze in the future for more people to enjoy.
In the meantime I've taken a suggestion from Taco. Tonight we will be starting the broadcast of Katanagatari and I think it fills the artsy/interesting slot perfectly. It ran all of this year with one episode released a month - one 50 minute episode with all the high quality trimmings you'd expect with such a release schedule. In any case I'm looking forward to it. As these are 50 minute episodes I will only be showing two episodes of this a night. So look forward to this show for the next three weeks which will bring the 2010 year nicely to a close. Hope to see you guys in a couple hours for one heck of a show. |
For those on the forums. We have started.
|
We will be starting shortly. I'm actually home early today because of the snow on the roads~
New feature I will be implementing is a private twitter announcement. This is for those of you that like getting updates via twitter best and perhaps have that shit linked to your phones or something. Please request a follow for the account linked below: We will be ending Cromartie High tonight. I will have to look around for a new comedy replacement. Feel free to make suggestions. Hope to see you in the stream soon~ |
Hmmm nobody signed up for the twitter. Not sure if people are interested in that yet or at all. Oh well...
Anyway more Zegapain tonight. Shit's gonna be crazy. Maybe. I've never really watched it before. But there should be cliff-hangers. I think... maybe... Anyway hope to see you guys in the stream in like 20 to 30 minutes. =) |
Oh, there will be cliffhangers all right.
And I'm not going to make anymore comedy suggestions since pack seems to hate everything I come up with. |
I'm actually thinking of showing 2x2=Shinobuden for the next comedy. It's been a while.
Still, I'm open to suggestions. |
Though I made the suggestion earlier in chat, I was wondering maybe Index or Railgun if some of the other people who sign in like it.
Totally down for Squid Girl though if that's played sometime. Oh, and maybe even Ore no Imouto or something like that. |
Did you ever look at Arakawa Under the Bridge? Although I've never seen 2x2=Shinobuden, so I'd be fine with that.
|
It's really late to start a full show so I'm gonna have to cancel tonight. Sorry.
I have decided 2x2=Shinobuden will be the next comedy. Xard, I have downloaded Arakawa Under the Bridge which I've heard good things about (despite half the subs being kind of so-so). |
Instead of our usual programming we will be doing a special Christmas anime extravaganza! This will be a nearly 5 hour event with plenty of merriment to be had. The key feature that will be shown in the middle is the late Satoshi Kon's Tokyo Godfathers. Be sure to tune in! =D
|
Alright well I'm waiting for folks to get into the stream. We'll be starting soon enough.
|
Don't suppose whatever you played is archived, is it? I could sure go for that Love Hina winter special for some massive nostalgia.
|
Now that that Panty and Stocking show is over, you can start airing it because it's hilarious.
|
Haha I guess I could do that while it's still fresh. Any particular subbing group that I should go with?
|
HorribleSubs is pretty good.
|
Yup, I feel like watching something new so Panty & Stocking it is. We can always watch 2x2=Shinobuden later. Expect a whole bag of hilarious sex jokes and obnoxious raunchy humor tonight courtesy of Gainax. I'd say we're due for some of their trolling by now.
|
Just in case anyone was interested. We're starting Panty and Stocking right now. Words was so much words.
|
We'll be starting WORDS very shortly. See ya in the stream.
|
Alright tonight is gonna be a longer one. We're gonna finish both Katanagatari and Panty&Stocking tonight. Hope to see you there. I'm starting fairly soon.
|
I have decided that we will be watching Arakawa Under the Bridge and Photon: The Idiot Adventures tonight. Hope to see you there. =)
|
More Arakawa and Photon! Come on in! The water's fine!
|
We will be watching more Arakawa Under the Bridge and starting Ninin ga Shinobuden tonight. See you in a couple minutes~
Additional Spam: Okay started a bit late. Sorry about that. Starting now. |
We'll be ending Arakawa Under the Bridge tonight. See ya soon!
|
okay i've been putting this off far long enough
it's zegapain time i have started the stream |
Quote:
Oh and since noone bothered signing up for the twitter notifications and my current method of spamming whoever I see in chat or IM seems to work well enough I will be dropping twitter unless asked otherwise. So besides the archives lacking proper updating does anyone have any thoughts on the anime club or suggestions? Also we'll be needing a new show to replace Arakawa Under the Bridge come Tuesday. Suggestions? |
Have you guys done a stream of ToraDora! yet? Or are you looking for a different genre?
|
Haha no I haven't done ToraDora yet. I haven't really done much of the drama romcom yet (the closest I think we've had was Seto no Hanayome but that was more based in comedy imo). The time slot that I'm replacing typically has interesting or alternative shows in it. Past shows in the first time slot include Princess Tutu, Paranoia Agent, Kaiba, Windy Tales, Twin Spica, Read or Die, Katanagatari, and Arakawa Under the Bridge.
I seem to remember people recommending Bakemonogatari. I'm not sure if that falls into the interesting/alternative slot well though as I haven't watched it. Additional Spam: I want to finish up Zegapain tonight so if you're bored we'll be watching the last seven episodes in like 10 minutes or something. |
We will be starting Bakemonogatari tonight in about 10 minutes. I've heard good things about it and I'm interested to see what Shaft can do with an actual budget.
Additional Spam: Ended up taking a lot longer to set up. Sorry. We have started now. |
More Bakemonogatari and ending Shinobuden tonight! We starting very very soon. =)
|
Alright we're gonna be starting Baccano soon. Sorry for starting so late. I had prior things to take care of. We'll be watching five episodes tonight.
In other news Shinobuden will be replaced by Dokkoida! |
Sorry for starting so late but we'll be streaming in a few minutes. New today is Dokkoida to fill the comedy slot. Hope you enjoy!
|
More of the same tonight. Bakemonogatari and Dokkoida time~
|
Same as last time. Show will begin soon.
|
Tonight I've decided that instead of starting a new series that we'll watch a movie instead. We'll be watching Summer Wars and then finishing up Dokkoida.
I'll need two new series come Tuesday so I'll be asking for suggestions again That said we'll be starting soon enough. Gotta go queue things up. =) |
Tonight we are starting two new shows: Black Heaven and Magipoka~
Hope to see you guys in perhaps 10 to 15 minutes. =) Additional Spam: Okay we're having technical difficulties with fucking OGM files I'm dealing with so it'll probably be another 10 minutes or something. God damn. Additional Spam: okay finally figured a temporary solution show will be starting very shortly sorry for the huuuuge delay fucking ogm grumble grumble |
For future reference if I ever come across any OGM files
MKVtoolnix 4.5.0 - VideoHelp.com Downloads mkvmerge will mux that shitty ogm into a mkv container |
I am very busy this week. I do not believe it wise to do the show. Hopefully next week will be better. Sorry. :(
|
We await your triumphal return.
I suppose Thursday is right out, too? |
Yeah, probably. This week and maybe even next week are gonna be hell. :(
|
Alright I think I'll be able to manage this week. I just have to be diligent for my other activities.
Anyway, show will start in about an hour or so. Waiting for, pack~ <3 Also I'm happy to report that I'm coming along in some of the backlog of archive shows. They aren't available yet but I've got the process down and hopefully I'll be able to get out a bunch soon enough. |
Alright tonight is going to be a bit longer than I expected. About eight episodes worth cuz 10-13 of Black Heaven and the final three of Magipoka plus 3 half-episode OVAs. I'm going to be starting shortly.
|
Alright new series tonight: NieA under 7 and Squid Girl.
Should start in about an hour or less. I'm actually prepared for the most part today. =) Additional Spam: Due to Glee we will be starting in 30 minutes so pack can watch with us. =I |
I should be starting tonight's show in about 20 or so minutes.
I've made slight progress on the archives. The last broadcast is available which should at the very least help people watching our current shows. Hopefully more to follow. |
Starting a bit late - laundry day~ it's a very dangerous day
see you guys in a couple minutes |
Gonna start around 9 PM EST so like uh 45 minutes or so. We'll be finishing up both NieA Under 7 and Squid Girl tonight. NieA has four episodes left so we'll be running slightly late.
|
GFF ANIME CLUB JAPAN DISASTER DONATION DRIVE We joked about on Thursday that the next replacement show should be Tokyo Magnitude 8.0. Since it was mentioned I went and investigated the show and watched the first two episodes. It's actually quite good. Now I know the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan is quite a touchy subject and perhaps showing a series with such content is in bad taste but it gave me a very good idea. For every broadcast of Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 I will put aside $50 to donate to Red Cross that goes specifically to aiding Japan at the end of the week. That will be a minimum of $100 per week. The show is only 11 episodes and with 3 episodes per broadcast it'll only take me 2 weeks with 4 broadcasts. In addition to that I will also tally the viewers that have stuck around to the end of that evening's showing of Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 and I'll donate a further $5 per viewer. So for example if I see that I have 10 viewers at the end the last episode for TM8 that night then that will be another $50 that I will donate. Please note that I'll be asking for the names of folk who watched for my tally. I'm well and able to count who is watching the stream and who is in the chat, yet I would hope there isn't a trolling of numbers or some such. In any case I'd like to know who has shown up and watched and have an official count. To make sure that my card works I've already donated the $10 minimum to the red cross and it looks like it went through. Viewers are not obligated to make any donations themselves but do feel free to do so. This is just my silly way of doing things. If after TM8 is over that evening you may stick around for a more light-hearted show. Speaking of that does anyone have a good light-hearted/comedy show in mind? As an aside I am going to be showing six episodes of Baccano! this evening starting in a little under an hour at around 7 PM EST. Please join me for a grand time aboard the flying pussyfoot~ |
Quote:
|
Well they do mention that if they get too much money they'll spend the donations elsewhere.
Quote:
|
Tuesday can't get here fast enough. I'm always interested for new shows! :D
<3 |
Thank you Acer <3

The Gargoyle of the Yoshinagas - NORIO WAKAMOTO IS A TALKING DOG STATUE THAT SHOOTS EYE LASERS HOLY SHIT WHAT MIAMI GUNS - So bad it's awesome Overrun by Stray Cats - Probably the least groan-worthy CHz challenge yet |
Haha some of those seem like some wonderful CHz challenge type material for sure. Tails, would you recommend them over Hidamari Sketch which right now is the high ranking recommendation for that slot?
|
Stray Cats was the only CHz challenge, and that's a tough one. Hidamari is really good stuff.
|
Thanks for the recommendations, Tails. I've downloaded them in the meantime but for now I'm just gonna go with Hidamari Sketch.
Tonight starts donation drive thing (I'm unsure of what is the best title for it so I'll just call it that). I'm running a bit late because I'm setting up a few images and things. Hopefully, things should be coming together shortly. Maybe 15 - 30 min from now. |
10 people (not including myself) were there for most of the Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 broadcast so that will net $100 for tonight. Hope to see you guys again on Thursday so I can make this week's donation an even $200. <3<3<3~
|
Alright well I'm gonna start the show in a bit. Hope to see you guys there. =)
Additional Spam: Seven people tonight (besides myself) so that brings this week's total donation to $185 which I have donated to the Red Cross. Thanks for watching and taking part of the donation broadcast, guys! =)))) |
Really wish I had seen this last night, since it was relevant then: Hidamari Mashup that's actually well done.
Oh well :/ |
Haha well that's nice. =)
Boop boop gonna go set up the show right now. Should start in like I dunno 10 minutes or something. See you guys there for the continued donation broadcast. =Y Additional Spam: Nine people showed up although two were anonymous and never said anything however I could see at the very least that they were watching. I suppose it was only seven that were there most of the time but whatever I'll go with nine people. So that's $95 for tonight that I'll add to whatever we get on Thursday. |
Last night for the donation stuff. Finishing up Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 and Hidamari Sketch tonight. Hopefully we'll get a decent number of people. I should be getting the show prepped and ready to go in about 10 minutes. See ya there! =D
Additional Spam: 8 people this evening for Tokyo Magnitude 8.0. What a downer of an ending. Good though I guess. Anyway that's same as last week so another $185. Thanks again for showing up to this, guys. =) |
So I have a few more ideas for new shows to play.
For the drama/interesting slot: - Ergo Proxy - Jigoku Shoujou - Elfen Leid - Texhnolyze (though I'm not sure how well this will fare. the pacing can get quite slow at times) - Gankutsuou - Last Exile - Dennou Coil Fun/stupid shows: - Minami-ke - Ouran High School Host Club (twincest!) - Manabi Straight - Sumomomo Momomo (never did finish watching this) - Ichigo Mashimaro |
I went on AniDB to look up your suggestions pack and from related shows I've come up with what I think would fit the slot nicely:
Mononoke Dennou Coil Ergo Proxy Mushishi You know what? Listing and copy/pasting that felt like a dumb effort for some reason so lets expend more by nit-picking what I didn't choose from your list~ Jigoku Shoujo certainly looks interesting but it's three seasons long. Not sure. I'd need to know more. Elfen Leid - the modern baby's first anime some are now calling it for some reason. It was an interesting concept but had far too much drama and the ending felt kind of rushed which might be true since the manga had not finished by that time. Texhnolyze looks as drab as Lain and if the reception for NieA Under 7 is any indication this one won't fair much better. I may be writing this one off too early though but NieA left a bad taste in my mouth. I only watched like 3 episodes of Lain as well so I'm probably jumping the gun here but I think I'd like to have a bit more time before trying another Yoshitoshi ABe show. Gankutsuou was awesome. I feel like this is a show most people have probably already seen but yes it was pretty awesome. Loved the artstyle. I'm a little hesitant on showing Last EXILE. I've heard some good things about it be it character design and setting but I've also heard it takes a while to get the plot rolling and that it has an extremely shittastic ending where none of the plot lines are resolved. This coupled with a Gonzo coming back from the dead to make a sequel series that follows the new censorship standards doesn't drive me to think it'll fix any of the mentioned but probably make it worse or ignore the first series entirely. I don't think all of Gonzo's stuff is bad but there are reasons why they died. I'm not gonna list here so I'll just go over what you've chosen briefly for the comedy slot~ Ouran High was a fun series. Minami-ke is BOSS but I also recall it being a bit slow. Manabi Straight was pretty much pointless for me. It had its moments but was mostly emotional bullshit instead of the fun comedy I'd first thought it to be. Sumomomo Momomo was just silly to the point of dumb from the little I watched of it. The poor production values made it strangely endearing though. Ichigo Mashimaro is <3 and I'll definitely keep it in mind. Not trying to be a snob here or anything (wait I kind of am - what a douche!). Totally appreciate the list. I really really do but I wanted to put out my thoughts on the subject or at least perhaps my misguided opinions in some cases. |
Hey, its cool. Just tossing some suggestions out there. Take what you like and run with it. A few things though:
I felt that each season of JiJou could easily withstand the absence of any latter seasons. So just playing season 1 (which is actually 26 eps) could suffice. Of course there are the obligatory unanswered questions that they don't get into to justify later seasons, but I never felt like they were big enough to ruin the series. I might be recollecting it wrong though. Its been many years, and I was unaware they even ran a third season. Fair enough on Texhnolyze. The more I think about it, the more I feel its probably not best for the anime club audience (all 4 of us). I threw Gankutsuou out there just because I have not seen it yet, but I'd heard great things about it. If other participants have seen it though, I'll watch it on my own time (lol yeah right). I'll defer to your judgment on the comedy shows. Again, just tossing a bunch of names out there off the top of my head. |

What's this about a sequel series to Last Exile? From what I remember it did take a long while for the plot to really get going, but it was still well worth watching. |
Information on that is right here:
Gonzo Supports Ishihara, Announces New Last Exile | Sankaku Complex You interested in joining us, Tritoch? I can put you on my mental list of people to spam before the show. Course I probably spam a lot of people who probably don't want to be on that list who just haven't said anything to tell me t quit it already. =I |
Just throwing this out there as a simple idea, but if you end up needing a new series and can't figure out which, you could probably play a movie or two during the finished anime's timeslot and then start the next series the next scheduled day. A movie like Dead Leaves or something like that would probably be interesting enough.
Like I said, just a quick idea, if it doesn't work that's cool though. |
There is a movie I'd actually like to play that I finally got a hold of after waiting for several months: Welcome to the Space Show. It's made by the same team that did Read or Die. It's a little over 2 hours long and has a Ghibli feel. It'd certainly take up most of a broadcast.
Also I did joke about doing a double feature of Grave of the Fireflies and My Neighbor Totoro. I think I might actually do that sometime. =') |
I wouldn't mind joining in, though I tend to work 2-11 a lot of nights. I'd probably end up missing at least one of the two shows every week.
It's been too long since I saw Last EXILE for me to remember much about how it ended, but I don't recall thinking it needed a sequel series. I'm more surprised by the news that Gonzo is still around. I thought they went under and vanished several years ago. |
Well since I'm not exactly sure what I want to show series-wise I think I'll make this week "movie week". I'll be showing Welcome to the Space Show tonight which will take up the entire broadcast. It's pretty long. I do hope you join us in about say 30 minutes or so when I begin (sorry for the late start - bit groggy today) as it's a pretty enjoyable movie.
Additional Spam: Alright we're raring to go. Hope to see you guys there. Only three of us at the moment. |
Grave of the Fireflies and My Neighbor Totoro tonight just like it was released in theatres. We'll be starting very shortly. Hope to see you there. =)
|
No anime club tonight. Just not quite feeling up to it. Not sure about Thursday yet. I might show a movie or something.
|
Yeah, like I thought not feeling it today either. Hopefully by Tuesday I'll have figured out new show choices. Hope you guys have a nice evening. =)
|
Fuck it. I'm showing Basquash and Ouran High School Host Club. Both are 26 episodes long. Hope you guys enjoy robot basketball and reverse traps.
|
Also twincest.
Never forget the twincest. |
I was always a bit disturbed every time they started doing that. However, the girls going crazy over it made it humorous.
|
haha pack yeah dat twincest
anyway we're starting the show now hope to see you there |
No anime club tonight. I don't think there will be any on Thursday either. Sorry~
|
T_T
The one night I'm actually home to see! >.< |
Sorry, shorty. This week just isn't a good one for me. I was barely able to do WAW last night. However, tonight is no good. Hopefully next week will be much better.
|
Busy people gonna be busy =')
|
Alrighty, anime club is back in action. More Basquash and Ouran tonight. Hope to see you in a bit.
Oh yeah, I'm gonna do an experiment. I'm going to try streaming to veemi.com and seeing how well that works. It has no ads but unfortunately it's default screen ration is 4:3. You'll need to click on the aspect ratio button and change it to 16:9. Also it doesn't autostart if you're idling in chat before I start the stream so keep that in mind - it has a refresh button. I'm just curious how well it will perform. Let me know if it sucks or not. Additional Spam: Waiting in the stream. So alone. =( |
Hi love, I know I mentioned this last night, but hereby put in my *official request* for the next series of anime to be broadcasted:
Miracle☆Train ~Welcome to the Big Edo Line~ ミラクル☆トレイン ~大江戸線へようこそ~ (Mirakuru Torein ~Oo-Edo Sen e Youkoso~) Ouran Host Club's been getting a pretty good vibe, so I think people will enjoy the trippiness of this anime. |
That looks excessively fabulous but who knows it might be great. Thanks shorty. =)
|
I've been mucking around with the new layout. A bit of adjusting since last night at WAW. The stream should automatically look for a broadcast now every 15 seconds if you get into it early. Anyway come on in and check it out.
Starting the show soon~ |
Haha sorry acer, busy week before.
Should be g2g for tomorrow and so forth  |
Hope you come tonight DN cuz right now it's just me and shorty in the stream. We should be starting soon.
|
Sorry about starting late so often these days. I've been hard at work scrapping and rescrapping the archives setups. So hard to get css crap to work on all browsers properly. Also I can't webdevelop for shit. Anyway, I'm getting some help from lurks so maybe I'll get a proper layout so I can get this ball rolling and play catch up. <3 u so much lurks~
Ah, so yeah we'll be starting soon enough. Hope to see you in the stream. |
I know this topic seems to be mostly about the stream
but does anyone here have a MyAnimeList profile? superangelo128's Profile - MyAnimeList.net basically it's a place where you can keep track of what shows you are watching and what shows you watch. |
I have a profile there but I've never really bothered updating it much past initial setup. I'm not very good with list sites. I just get tired of filling in data after a while. Anyway, thanks.
|
@Superangelo - Actually, I believe a few of the members do.
Mine is - WastedPanda's Profile - MyAnimeList.net Mind you, it's not all that impressive right now, and there's actually a good number of series on there that I still haven't added to my list after all this time. Either I'm too lazy to find them on that site, or I'm just too lazy to go and add them >_> |
Blip.tv was kind of famous for making their videos easily downloadable has recently changed their ways. This is important because when episode 16 of dragon ball z abridged was originally uploaded to youtube, youtube didn't support videos past 10 minutes so Team Four Star added a little note at the end of episode 16 to go watch the full episode on blip.tv or rather their website which has videos hosted at blip.tv. So why am I rambling on about this crap? Well my standard methods of nabbing this shit weren't working so I had to take extra time to find a way around getting the full episode 16 thus delaying tonight's broadcast. Cheap excuse but there it is.
Anyway I'm hoping that my streaming server I connect to doesn't have any issues like it did on Thursday. I have some alternatives but I'd rather not go that route as it involves me paying for service. The new archives are coming along nicely. It will however take me a while to convert all the current archive items to the new format. Then I'll have to go about actually making the 30 or so broadcasts that are not in the archives available. On top of that I'm not even sure how many broadcasts I've even done for the anime club. I know that we're approaching broadcast 100. I'd like to do something nice but I'm just not sure. Honestly just getting everything converted and available would be celebration enough. Anyway, hope to see you guys in the stream soonish. Sorry for the big delay as usual. I should really just change the god damn broadcast time to 9 PM EST yeesh. |
Still having tech difficulties with my usual server so I'll be hosting again. Sorry if any of you guys have issues connecting to me. I'll be starting soon. Hope to see you there.
|
I kind of figured out why I wasn't able to connect to my usual server. They kind of changed how that shit works. No matter. I've since dealt with this issue. Hopefully it'll be all gravy tonight. You may want to press ctrl+f5 (refresh) when you go to the page to load the latest version though.
Tonight will be the 100th GFF Anime Club broadcast. It's kind of amazing that it's gone on this long. I wouldn't have been able to do it without you guys being there watching with me so thanks a ton for being with me all this time. =)))) <3 I'm coming along with the new archives page. I just need to time like 50 more of these broadcasts and I'll be all caught up and ready to put it in place. I think those of you who take advantage of the archives will really like it. Again so much thanks to lurker for making it possible with her awesome CSS help and other javascript nonsense and <3<3<3 We'll be finishing up Basquash and Ouran tonight. No DBZ Unabridged. We'll probably have to wait months until the next episode of that awesomeness to come out. It's well worth the wait though. I'm trying to figure out what I should show to make up that gap also the gap from only show four episodes tonight. Hmmmm..... I could finish up Baccano too loooool but hmmm I have to think about that. What to show.... Anyway I hope to see you guys in like I dunno 10 or so minutes. |
I was planning on making tonight a movie night but it's taking far too long to get what I want to show and I'm feeling a little burnt out from WAW last night. I think I may still show something on Tuesday next week - perhaps Castle of Cagliostro and a Ghibli movie. However I am definitely not showing anything on Thursday next week or the week after that due to the GFF Meet.
This does give me a bit of time to work on the archives so perhaps I'll refocus on that instead. So much to plan and do. |
Dear Acer, you are awesome and we love you <3.
|
<3<3<3
Well in the mean time I guess you guys could figure out what two new series we should watch once I've come back from the meet. Also I might show the end of Baccano this Saturday if I'm not too lazy. Man the weekend broadcast took a crazy hit. It's been months. |
Quote:
|
I'll be showing Castle of Cagliostro and Porco Rosso tonight. I'll probably be starting late as a heads up. Also as a reminder to myself a new DBZ Abridged came out.
|
Or I won't be showing it. Yeah, unforeseen issues with subtitles. By the time I had worked it out it was 11:30 PM. So, uh I don't really feel like doing WAW tomorrow. I guess I can show these movies tomorrow then. It'll be less time spent for sure. I'll keep you posted.
|
Alright, I'll be starting last night's line-up soon enough. See ya in the stream.
|
Two new shows tonight! We'll be starting the very interesting Fantastic Children and the raunchy Seitokai Yakuindomo. Look forward to it.
|
We're starting right now. Sorry for being so late. Had family over.
|
If my Internet doesn't crap out we'll be starting soon enough. See you in the stream.
|
Oops forgot to post before starting. We're 20 something minutes into the stream. We'll be finishing Seitokai Yakuindomo tonight by showing 4 episodes of it after 3 episodes of Fantastic Children. See ya there I guess?
|
We'll be starting Astro Fighter Sunred tonight. I've heard it's a lot of fun. Hope to see you guys there in a few minutes.
|
And I need to get back into this. See you next week guys. ;_;
|
lol i do this twice a week, hyde
tuesdays and thursdays and every blue moon or when i'm not feeling particularly lazy on a saturday also there's waw tomorrow or uh today i guess - it's on wednesdays so yeah there's plenty of opportunity for you to join us |
Oh yeah we've started. More fun time with Fantastic Children and Astro Fighter Sunred~
|
Alright this week we'll be doing an extra few episodes per session to finish up both shows this week so I hope you guys are up to the challenge. See you in a few minutes. Woo!
|
Sorry for starting so late. We'll be finishing up both Fantastic Children and Astro Fighter Sunred tonight. Next week is the one year anniversary of broadcasting the gff anime club. I can't really figure what I'd want to do to make it special or anything so I'll probably just make it a nice movie week. I'm thinking A Tree of Palme, Catnapped!, and Robot Carnival. Same creator of Fantastic Children worked on all of those as well. Should be interesting if not certainly artsy. I hope to see you there if not in a few minutes when I start tonight's stream.
|
I'm going to be busy starting tonight until sunday, so unfortunately I can't attend the shows :(
|
Aw, well perhaps this will give me some slight motivation to work on the archives.
Anyway, I'll be starting tonight's show in perhaps 20 to 30 minutes. Hard to believe that come tomorrow it'll have been a year since I started broadcasting anime club. It's been rough and I've certainly slacked in some regards but I'm glad to have had you guys for so long. I hope you all enjoy this movie week. Since this week is also the one year anniversary I might as well ask for you to make comments on what you've enjoyed this past year. Any unexpected shows that you really liked? Favorite moments? Things you hated? Things I could do better? Ideas? Anything? I'd love to know what you think on any of all this and more. |
Finishing up this week we're watching Catnapped and Robot Carnival. I've seen neither or at least not most of Robot Carnival so I'm rather pumped for it. Next week we'll be continuing Astro Fighter Sunred on its second season and I believe Dennou Coil will be in the more serious/interesting slot as a recommendation by pack. Anyway hope to see you in the stream for movie time tonight. Should be interesting.
|
SHIT I missed the start of Sunred season 2
I wish I didn't keep missing Anime Club :( CURSE YOU, MANUAL LABOR. |
lol no you didn't - as my last post said tonight was catnapped and robot carnival - i was merely saying what we'd start next week
nice to see a post in this thread not made by me though so <3 might as well throw out the anything i could be doing better bit again - there it is |
FUCK YES CATNAPPED
I MEAN I MISSED IT BUT STILL FUCK YES HOI HOIIIII |
Yay ;_;
(still vexed that I missed Tree of Palme, though) |
Starting Dennou Coil and Astro Fighter Sunred 2 tonight. Hope to see you guys in the stream shortly.
|
More Dennou Coil and Sunred this evening. Hope to see you in the stream shortly. I'm waiting~
|
It's been like 4 months since I last showed Baccano on the weekend. I'm gonna actually finish it up tonight. Amazing - I know. See you guys in a couple minutes.
|
Of all things I appear to be a bit earlier than usual. I seem to start more like after 9 PM or something these days. Anyway I'm just waiting in the stream for people so I can start Dennou Coil. More of that and Astro Fighter Sunred tonight. =I
|
Starting a bit late tonight. Yeah... so much for 9 PM being a new standard feh...
Finishing Astro Fighter Sunred tonight so we'll be need a new comedy when I return from vacation. Yeah no anime club or waw next week (most likely). See you in a couple minutes hopefully. |
ATTENTION! BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!
Okay, this has probably been a long time coming but it's something that needs to be done. I'm going on hiatus after this week. Having completed 2 out of 3 shows I will be marathoning seven episodes of Dennou Coil each night this week completing it on Thursday. There will also be one more WAW on Wednesday for those of you that double dip. After that I will be on hiatus only doing Let's Play streams every now and then.
Why am I doing this? A couple reasons actually. 1) I have a huge backlog of shows that need archiving and that means both actually going through and encoding, timing, and doing html bullshit and also rebroadcasting a good amount of shows locally that got cut short due to technical difficulties and other unforeseen crap that was out of my control that left me with partial recordings. So I will taking some of the hiatus time to just rebuild a proper archive and hopefully get a nice system down so I can keep it going well when I break hiatus. 2) I'll be returning to school and until I can figure out how that will work for me it might be a good thing I'm not doing shows. Depending on my school schedule I may have to shuffle the streaming schedule around to different days and/or times. 3) Attendance has honestly been pretty poor (even for WAW) and that could be attributed to waning interest, conflicting schedules on the part of viewers, my inconsistent broadcast start time, disinterest in what is showing, and/or disinterest with my stream entirely. I realize you all have your own lives and it's just another dumb stream on the Internet. Some of my fondest memories were when I started this thing up and had some funny regulars from #gfchat that got me into this to begin with but they have since either lost interest or have conflicting schedules. I regret not being able to satisfy everyone's schedule and that was what the archives were for and I think neglecting them is part of how I lost some of my audience. Another thing is general apathy I see in the forums and even this thread. When I started this thing I thought it would be more like the simulcast threads on something awful where we watch a couple episodes and then while we do some fun mst3k hijinks in the stream chat we'd then come back to the thread and talk more seriously about what we're watching. Instead it's usually just me chiming in with a post indicating I'm starting the stream soon and maybe a post asking for show requests met usually with no responses. I'm not perfect and I do shoot down some ideas but I think I've been fair and meeting requests too. In any case it is true that attendance has been rather low. The best events I do are still the rare Drink On and my Let's Plays and as such those will be the only streams I'll do during the hiatus. For those of you that have been with me through most of this I really appreciate you being there and all the bullshit you have put up with me. If this was the thing that really made your Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights then I'm really sorry that I'm letting you down. Hopefully when I come back it will be a more consistent program with a honest to goodness archive kept up to date regularly and hopefully a better attended stream. Thank you all so much again for making this one hell of a thing. Here's to one more week and then it shall be hiatus time. Feel free to let me know what you think of all this and of course any suggestions that I should take into account during the down time. |
I will say this here, but I mean it for both streams: You, personally, have absolutely nothing to apologise for. You have never let anyone on these boards down. You are hands down the most helpful and accommodating person we have. These streams have been great when I could catch them, and the archive even more so. You run drink-on, you let us MST3K the hell out of you in Let's Plays, sir, I say this because absolutely everyone here should.
THANK YOU |
o u~ <3<3<3<3<3<3<3
also reiterating that i will still be doing let's plays and drink on's during hiatus |
Well of course you will. Preferably at the same time at some point. Club Drink-On: Abuse Acer edition.
|
loool
well anyway starting late not that this is unusual but come on in for 7 episodes of Dennou Coil we'll be starting very soon as soon as enough people show up (three hopefully - including me) |
LET US PASS
So that song "Tooryanse" that plays when they're crossing the road and that electric song comes through? It's a very old Japanese folk song from the Edo era and it actually has some significant meaning to the animu "Dennou Coil" we're watching.
because this is kinda boring:
By the way, the "ofuda" can be also read as "tags" rather than notes. And those metatags? Looks awful lot like "ofuda"s to me~ :3 |
Wow I don't think I could prop that post enough. Certainly gives a new light to the song and the show. <3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3
Last night's show ended on a real cliff hanger so I'm eager to see the rest of it on Thursday. Everyone was really getting into it and I must say the seven episode marathon format seems to do well with a good show like this. Three episodes just seems like a tease and so with that in mind I mentioned that I'm considering a new format after the hiatus that would be six or seven episodes of just one show per day. The only problem with this idea is that you have to wait an entire week to see the next batch of episodes. At the same time I had no issue doing this with my weekend shows when I ran them regularly each weekend so the patience is there although being the weekend perhaps the attendance is not. Speaking of attendance last night got a slow start but we had a good four people actively on the edge of their seats by the end and although the numbers weren't high everyone was piping in and having a good time so thanks again for coming. =) |

Acer, what time are you starting today?!?!! I DO NOT WANT TO MISS ANY OF THIS.
Please let us know what time you starting so I can time my "fake illness to go home early" today. Thank you!!!!!! <33333 |
Alrighty starting the last 7 episodes of Dennou Coil soon and then it'll be hiatus time until I get my shit figured out. It's been a pleasure but please remember this is not the end. I am fairly certain the broadcast will return (hopefully soon enough). I do love doing it.
