Werewolf 28: Town wins, flagons of mead for everyone
Thanks again to Nutty for the sticky!
Quote:
Actions are processed in the order that they are submitted (with some notable exceptions). For example, if a Serial Killer expresses his intent to kill someone and the Guard doesn't get around to jailing that someone until much later, the Guard just wastes his night action. The game has 5 factions, each with their own victory conditions (though it is possible for more than one faction to win, or for no one to win). I make no claim that the factions are evenly balanced, only that they are engineered to make goofy shit happen. Because this iteration of the game is fairly complex, Night One will extend over the weekend until 1 PM EST on Monday. After this extended first night, all phases will last 48 hours. -------- Town: Wins if all Orcus / Vecna cultists are killed, and the Werewolf is either killed or rendered harmless. 4 Peasants: Generic townie role. Votes during the day, cowers in fear during the night. 1 Guard: As a night action, may choose a player to stick in the drunk tank. Arrested players can neither take night actions nor be targeted by them. 1 Cleric: As a night action, may pray to Pelor to identify one player's role, OR bless a chosen player to protect them from a vampire bite that night. Town players start with no role knowledge. Adventurer: Wins by amassing every item for themselves. Unicorn Company just wants to get rich; whatever mayhem this goal may lead them into is secondary. 1 Fighter: As a night action, may choose a player to kill and loot. If the target is currently in the midst of being serial-killed, the serial killer is also killed — but only because they were in your way. Take any items the target (and/or the assassin) may have. 1 Wizard: As a night action, may choose an item. High-level divination magic will reveal what unlucky fool happens to currently possess it. 1 Bard: Cannot be lynched; the hangman always seems to have second thoughts at the last second. Once per game, the bard may use this power to intercede on behalf of another player — but if this is done he loses his own immunity afterward. Adventurers start knowing who the other adventurers are. Vecna: Wins by knowing the role of every player, living and dead, as well as the location of every item. 1 Abductor: As a night action, may choose a player. Torture the poor bastard and find out everything he knows. This doesn't kill him, it just makes his evening very unpleasant. 1 Necromancer: As a night action, may choose a dead player. Speak with the dead, and learn the names, roles, and possessions of everyone that ever targeted them while they lived. The knowledge of the dead is only accurate up to the time of their death — situations may have changed since. 1 Vampire Lord: As a night action, may choose a player to bite. That player becomes a vampire as well, though you don't control them. However, vampire lords can always read the thoughts of their children. The night actions of your fellow Vecnites are always resolved faster than the night actions of your vampire spawn. Powerful spells allow the vampire and his spawn to go out and vote during the day's lynching. If the Vampire Lord is killed, his eldest spawn becomes the new Lord and assumes his mind-reading powers (but retain their team affiliation). Vecnites start knowing who the other Vecnites are. Orcus: Wins by outnumbering Town and Adventurer put together. 1 Serial Killer: As a night action, you must choose a player to murder. If you fail to choose a target, one will be chosen at random: Blood For The Blood God! The Serial Killer is just too goddamn angry to loot bodies; the victim's possessions are redistributed at random once the murder is discovered. 1 Twitchy Recluse: If targeted by a night action, kill the bastard that did it. You'd think the skull mounted over the door would keep solicitors away, but noooooo. You get to keep his stuff. 1 Doppelganger: As a night action, you may choose two players. You will assume the first player's identity until he next evening, and if he has a night action you automatically perform said action on the second player. If your double is killed while you're sharing his role (by lynching or misadventure), there is a 50% chance that you were actually killed instead, and vice-versa. If you survive the murder of your duplicate, you then assume his role and powers permanently (but retain your team affiliation). Orcus cultists start with knowledge of their fellow lunatics. Werewolf: Wins by being the last survivor. 1 Werewolf: As a night action, may choose to hunt down and messily devour a chosen player. The werewolf cares nothing for material wealth, and cannot own items at all. Cannot be permanently killed (with one exception). If lynched or otherwise "killed" the werewolf simply revives good as new two phases later (if killed at night, he cannot vote during the next day; if killed during the day he cannot hunt that night). If the werewolf encounters someone wielding the Silver Sword, his regenerative powers are forfeit. The werewolf starts with no role knowledge. Items Ten magical treasures are circulating around Baldur's Gate, all of them fairly useful in these troubled times. Items held by lynched players rapidly disappear into the lynch mob, and are reassigned to a new player at random. If you don't want a certain item for whatever reason, message the moderator with your desire to pass the item on to a player of your choosing or your intent to just abandon said item (where it will be randomly found by someone else). Holy Water: If you have this, any toothy jerks that try to fly into your window are toast. Once used the jar is empty, but another jar soon finds its way into someone's hands... Elixir of Dragon's Breath: As a night action, chug. You assume the defensive powers of the Twitchy Recluse for the rest of the evening, but if forced to actually use said powers you'll be too badly burned to survive into the next night. Cloak of Maximum Charisma: You get two votes when it's time to lynch. One of these votes is made in secrecy (message the moderator) and need not be identical to your public vote. Eye of Vecna: As a night action, you may use the hypnotic power of the Eye to confuse and dismay. The next action which would target you instead targets a random surviving player. Once used, the Eye is redistributed. Gloves of the Cat Burglar: As a night action, choose a player and take any items he may have. Powers which react to being targeted do not respond to Cat Burglars, since they are so stealthy. On nights during which you use the Gloves, you forgo any other night actions you may otherwise use. Elven Chainmail: The next time something — anything — would kill you, it doesn't. Redistributes after use. Boots of Speed: Regardless of how slow you are to submit your night actions, they will always be treated as if they were the first to occur. If you possess both the Boots and the Sword, you may "test" a suspected werewolf after a lynching without being spotted doing it — onlookers will only see a blur. Symbol of Pelor: The sun god protects anyone carrying his symbol from the threat of vampires. Anyone carrying the symbol cannot be bitten. Wand of Magic Missile: Only contains one charge, and is not redistributed after breaking (Team Adventurer does not need this to win if it has been broken). As a night action, fire off a magic blast that rebounds off every available surface. A random target is chosen, and the missile bounces to anyone they may be targeting, to anyone THAT person may be targeting, and so on, until the missile reaches someone who hasn't targeted anyone (and stops). Everyone the missile collided with is stunned and forfeits their night actions if they haven't yet performed them at the time of the missile launch. Silver Sword: The only way to permanently kill the Werewolf. 1. Be targeted by the werewolf while he's hunting, and while you wield the Sword. 2. If you think you know who the Werewolf is, message the moderator with your intent to seek out and destroy him. From that point forward you spend every night attempting to slay the suspected werewolf, and forgo all other night actions until it's dead. 3. If you suspect that a player being lynched is the Werewolf, you may hack apart his "corpse" with the Sword as he dangles from the rope. If your hunch turns out to be wrong, however, the Guard will immediately arrest you and you will be held until the next day (provided the Guard is still alive). -------- |
DAY ONE The faithful folk of the town gather in the church for the morning service, only to meet with a horrid sight. Frank, the priest of Pelor, lies dead on the altar. The holy man had more than his share of enemies, but no ordinary foe would have devoured his entrails. This is clearly the work of a werewolf! In all the hubbub, somebody snatches up the dead man's holy symbol. Amidst the panic someone notices that Rockgamer the peasant is also missing. He'd never missed a service before. They find his body slumped in his kitchen, covered in stab wounds. Perhaps the rumors of a Serial Killer loose in the town were true! A rare potion lies stoppered next to Rockgamer's open hand, labeled "Emergency Use Only". If only he had been quicker to drink it! Someone steals the elixir whilst everyone's backs are turned. Perhaps the new owner will actually put it to use! Searching for answers, an angry mob seeks out the guard. Though as ignorant as the rest, the guard can give ironclad alibis for at least two people: Garr and Diss were both safely locked up in the drunk tank all night. The guard is as useless as ever! The people resolve to take matters into their own hands, the law be damned. Before the day is up, someone will hang for these crimes! The Werewolf kills Frank, a priest: he owned the Holy Symbol. The Serial Killer kills Rockgamer, a peasant: he owned the Elixir. Neither Garr nor Diss killed anyone on Night 1, but you can still hang them if you want. Day 1 ends in 48 hours. Lynch vote begins now. Players: nuttyturnip Diss Zergrinch Chaotic Skills Garr Tritoch Denicalis knkwzrd Hawkeye Shin ZiggyGo a lurker LZ Roles: 3 peasants 1 DEAD peasant (Rockgamer) 1 DEAD cleric (Frank) 1 guard 1 serial killer 1 doppelganger 1 twitchy recluse 1 fighter 1 wizard 1 bard 1 vampire lord 1 abductor 1 necromancer |
With the only black guy in town already dead, the next obvious choice for a good lynchn' is Zergrinch.
If there's anyone who defines twitchy recluse it's this guy. |
I would not be surprised if he was the one behind Rockgamer's death. Changing my vote to Denicalis to save my skin. And because he smells. |
See what happens when Plarom doesn't play? People just go after the next available black guy.
I figured I wouldn't have to use my item on the first freaking night, but that shows how much I know. Even if I had though, I still wouldn't have lasted much longer anyway. |
I find it mighty suspicious that Lurker made a big deal out of a bunch of us meeting up at the bar on Saturday for a night of raucous drunken fun, and then she shows up late. Sure, she got as soused as the rest of us, but she had plenty of time for killing before she showed up. I think she was just trying to establish an alibi.
|
I find it mighty suspicious that nuttyturnip chose not to wear socks and sandals during meet, his trademark look. Perhaps he wanted to, but his sandals and dedicated sock-sandals (he has pairs of socks he only wears with sandals (they have a nice groove worn in between the first two toes)) were too covered with blood to be safely worn among the townsfolk.
|
I know the way zerg thinks, and in his robot brain human life doesn't even matter. Hang him up until he stops twitching.
|
There's something very interesting about Denicalis. I would even venture to say that he's the most interesting man in the town.
|
|
Wait, wait.
Wait. Rockgamer is black? |
Was black, you insensitive fiend. He was a man of many secrets. I've heard talk that he owned Mrs. Doubtfire on illuminated manuscript.
|
Random day one vote goes to LZ. This is purely baseless speculation, but I think he's the vampire lord.
|
I'm going to vote for Shin because nobody's voted for him yet and he probably feels neglected.
|
Aw, I was feeling left out.
Voting for knkwzrd because that kitten sat on his head is clearly a demonic familiar. |
I'll vote for LZ as well because nobody just says "I think he's <specific role> on day 1 without knowing something else that's going on.
|
Well dammit, I guess I'll have to randomly say
EDIT:zerg is tied for most votes, doi. |
The angry mob gathers up some suspicious fellows, and they argue over the skimpy evidence until they find the most likely candidate to blame for the recent troubles.
Zergrinch soon finds himself dangling at the end of a rope, gasping his last few feeble breaths. Technically the gallows should have been a little taller so his neck would mercifully break and save him the torture of slow asphyxiation, but nobody can bring themselves to feel too bad about it. Everyone retires to the nearest pub for drinks and merrymaking. It's not until dusk is starting to fall when the mortician comes to cut down the body and discovers an empty noose and a handful of fur. Zergrinch the Werewolf is lynched, but escapes. At least he'll need time to heal — he won't go out hunting tonight. Votes: Zerg: / / / LZ: / / Denicalis: / / knkwzrd: / Shin: / Garr: / ZiggyGo: / Nutty: / a lurker: / Cloak of Charisma not used. Not voting: Hawkeye. Night Two ends in 48 hours (as of this edit it's 2:25 PM EST). |
City Guard Colonel Skills expects more trouble tonight, and he reckons the safest thing is to head down to the lockup and put himself on the other side of some iron bars. It's not the first time he's had to use those cells to keep something out instead of keeping someone in, but he never expected things to get so bad that he'd have to lock himself in.
Just as he's slipping on his cloak to go out in the sudden cloudburst, there's a knock at the door. The Colonel instinctively reaches for the light crossbow strapped to his hip, and flings open the door with one swift motion. Standing there in the rain is Garr, the rambunctious Fighter, and Skills starts to relax — until Garr falls down face-first in the doorway with a dagger buried in his back. The killer stands there with a smile, and Skills' crossbow is up and firing in an instant. But a strong arm wraps around the Colonel's neck from behind, flinging him to the floor. The bolt thuds harmlessly into the ceiling. The figure in the doorway advances into the room, coldly stepping over Garr's corpse. Skills struggles to get to his feet, but the second assailant pins him firmly to the floor. Skills gets one look at their faces before they turn his crossbow against its owner. "How... how are there two of you?" ---------- It's not long after sunrise when a handful of early risers discover the Colonel's door hanging wide open. Even though they walk in expecting the worst, they're not prepared for the carnage they find — the two men have been butchered like hogs. Everyone knows the Colonel kept a few interesting keepsakes from his career in the guard, and Garr could hardly help flaunting his prized broadsword. But by the time the rest of the guard has arrived to secure the crime scene, the weapon is gone and Skills' display case has been smashed. Somebody has sticky fingers. Garr the Fighter is slain by a Serial Killer. He owned the Silver Sword. Skills the Guard is slain by a Serial Killer. He owned the Elixir of Dragon's Breath and the Eye of Vecna. No one was jailed at the time of the murders. Accusations start flying immediately, and tempers flare even hotter with the bitter knowledge of the werewolf that escaped justice yesterday. If something isn't done about these murders, and soon, then all their lives are surely forfeit. Day 2 ends in 48 hours. Lynch vote begins now. I've seen Zerg running around, and after we hanged the sommbitch. That just ain't natural. I say we hang that man up again, and give whoever has a certain silvery sword a chance to cut him up into little tiny pieces. Just to be sure.
|
I agree with this notion. Whoever has the sword better stab this bitch.
Zerg. |
Hahahahaha zerg you are so fucked.
|
Why stop the train. Zerg. With the serial killer(s) on the loose, it's best to prevent a 3rd death.
|
Has Zergrinch ever been killed in any way other than lynching? Not in the games i've played, that i can remember. This is moving beyond the realm of random chance and turning into a full on tradition.
Whoever has it better use that sword to keep more people from dying at the claws of that cold, calculating murderer |
I think we can all agree that hacking apart Zergrinch will be a fun, family-friendly activity that the whole village can enjoy.
|
I don't know why you guys are targeting Zerg. Do you think the serial killer (who has the sword now, since he offed Garr) is going to be all "oh sup guys here I am" or something? Bitch is gonna keep his head down.
|
The sword doesn't go to whomever killed him. It goes to a random person, no? As I understand it, anyway.
|
^Correct, the only kill role that steals is Fighter, which is kind of a moot issue now.
Small correction: I originally wrote that Skills had the Holy Water when he died, this is incorrect. Before his death he owned the Eye and the Elixir, not the Water. |
Oh, well then fuck Zerg.
|
That goddamn Zergrinch is a murdering werewolf and must be hacked apart by the Silver Sword!
|
Interesting tactic.
|
It's not like he can save himself, and if the sword owner doesn't do their duty he'll get to be smug as hell.
More like Best Tactic. |
What tactic? Game has been over for me since Day 1 lynch. Stop over-analyzing, I'm totally not plotting anything behind the scenes :tpg:

:( |
Nothin' like a good ol' fashioned lynch mob. Zerg it is!
|
I'm assuming that the werewolf is not allowed to possess the Silver Sword? Because that would be hilarious.
Here's hoping Zergrinch has a chewy candy center. |
not just that, but the werewolf can't possess any item at all.
|
Alternatively, if whomever has the silver sword doesn't use it, I say we go to their house, lynch their cat, and then lynch them.
|
I'll meet you halfway: lynch them, adopt the cat.
|
I guess I'm also voting for Zerg.
|
Whilst voting for Zerg certainly has it's merits in terms of preventing another night time death, it does seem like a bit of a waste to me. Pang is implementing night time actions in strict first come, first served order so if whoever has the sword is on the ball, they can send in the kill action as soon as the night time starts and he'll be dead. There's simply no need to lynch him and if we kill the serial killer now we can avoid two night time deaths, no?
I think you guys are letting the bad guys have a really easy ride here and I think that Denicalis would have realised this when he jumped in to vote for Zerg so quickly so I reckon he's either a vampire or orcus and for either he needs to swing. |
Attacking with the sword doesn't guarantee a kill. The only guaranteed kill of the wolf is to hack up his body while he swings.
|
Hush Shin. Don't teach 'em strategy! Lynching me every day basically nullifies my nighttime role. Besides, don't the Vecnites want to know who's wielding the sword?
I say lynch me and silver sword me while I hang! |
Quote:
http://static.reelmovienews.com/imag...-ramathorn.jpg Of course the person could just kill you and then choose to drop the sword. Strategy. Sorry, Zerg. In yet another game you're gonna swing, you're gonna die, and no one is going to miss you. |
What are you on about, I'm already telling these guys to lynch and disembowel me~~~~
|
Quote:
|
When Deni turns out to be the murdering psycho and we could have stopped him here, I'm so going to tell you guys that I told you so.
|
Trying to shift the paranoia, eh English? Which one of the evil factions you work for? Vecna? The Republicans?
|
That's terrible logic and frankly sounds like the desperate ramblings of an evil-doer unmasked.
It looks like everyone else is sticking with voting for Zerg mind you so you live to fight another day, bad man. |
Confident of Zergrinch's identity as a man-eating monster (he gladly confirms it!), the mob strings him up for the second day in a row. As the body dangles on the rope, the crowd waits expectantly for the fabled Silver Sword to appear and end the terror once and for all.
And so they wait... and wait... ...and wait... Soon the moon rises, and Zergrinch tears free of the ropes and escapes into an alleyway. At least he won't hunt tonight, but nothing has been done to stop the serial killer (or killers!) that are on the loose. I would have left a window for the sword's owner to intervene, but they already PMed me with their intention of not doing so.) 12 votes against: Zerg (Cloak used) 1 vote against: Denicalis Night 3 Ends In 48 Hours. (Did I say 24, how silly of me) |
Day 3
Disgusted with the total inexplicable failure of the jackass with the silver sword to step up, the villagers seek out the visiting Wizard from out of town — he'll identify the lazy asshole responsible, and then they can say rude things to him. Alas, Diss has been asphyxiated, his own crystal ball forcibly jammed into his mouth. The serial killers are getting a little creative. Without a lot of options on the table, the villagers decide to try their luck at the temple of Vecna. Things couldn't get any worse, after all. Sadly, nobody's home — except LZ the Abductor, pinned to the wall with his own thumbscrews. Everyone politely tuns their back while someone rifles through his pockets for his Wand and Holy Symbol — law and order is definitely on the back burner right now. Diss the Wizard is murdered by a Serial Killer. He owned nothing. LZ the Abductor is murdered by a Serial Killer. He owned the Wand of Magic Missiles and the Holy Symbol, and both items change hands. The Eye of Vecna was used, and changes hands. Nobody killed Zerg during the night either, what the fuck. Day 3 ends in 48 hours. Lynch vote begins now. Go Team Orcus Vote changed. |
If you idiots hadn't wasted a kill on me you could have won by today's lynch
|
Deni wanted Zerg lynched clearly, suggesting he had the sword. But he didn't use it. Why so?
Fuck knows, probably because he's evil. Voting for Denicalis |
Quote:
Shin for being the least convincing evil guy pretending to be good in the history of time. |
Shin certainly seems keen on seeing Denicalis dead, and I have to wonder why. Sure, he started the bandwagon against Zerg yesterday, but that was the most logical thing to do. Since the Cleric is dead, maybe Shin has some otherworldly knowledge of Denicalis' role?
|
A wolf in sheep's clothing. It's in your best interest if everybody keeps re-lynching Zerg, because it keeps us scared and guessing. Easy pickings for the Serial Killer or the Doppelganger. The only thing I can't understand is why the Doppelganger didn't just copy his teammate the first night.
Deni, you're telling and telling it badly. I also don't trust nutty, but that's a lynch for another day. |
Quote:
|
Or cautious. Since there's a 50/50 chance he's gonna die if his double gets killed.
|
The odds of him being targeted randomly the first night were smaller than any other night just by nature of there being more players in the game. lol stupid.
|
Good point. So maybe they were gathering intel about roles. Needed to know what Skills was and do it to you.
In any case, any arguments about "good and evil" are moot. This is faction vs. faction. Let's look how close to victory each faction is:
|
By your logic then Zerg, anyone wanting to kill you, as the only player left who can upset Orcus' victory tonight is more than likely Orcus, reaffirming my choice of Deni as a lynch target. The sword's still out there and whoever had it can kill you if they want and the only people you're useful to alive are those with no night time kill actions yourself. Obviously, I'm not Orcus so it strikes me you're more useful alive and killing than neutralised, although if you kill me I'll be fucking unimpressed.
|
There's also an equal chance that I can take out a Townie/Adventurer, since I'm solo and don't know anything other than voting patterns. Problem is, both townies and Orcus can claim to be good, since there are three of them on each team :(
I guess as proof, people claiming to be good can try posting the role description Pang PMed you. Whatever's more sarcastic is the real deal. If Deni doesn't get lynched, I'd like to eat him tonight. That being said, I like to root for the underdog. So go town! But I guess it's in Orcus' best interest to keep lynching me to hide vote patterns, all the while eliminating the Town/Bard at night. |
Yeah, ok, gonna vote for Shin again.
|
You know what? I'm outing myself. I'm a villager, and I used the eye of vecna last night. Shin and Lurker's continuing attempts to look past the obvious fact that going for zerg was an act of preservation and nothing else makes me think they're working together. I'd put down money that says both of them are either Vecna or Orcus. I'm pretty much a dead man walking anyway, so whichever team out there doesn't have those two on it? Have fun with you slaughter of them.
|
I'm casting my vote for Shin. Why? Because I think he's the dick who didn't use the Silver Sword yesterday or last night.
Quote:
|
If I have Shin to thank for living, then obviously I owe him a debt of gratitude. It's currently 4 against 2 for Shin / Denicalis. Let's narrow the gap a bit. :)
|
Throwing out a vote for Denicalis.
|
I'm throwing out a vote for Deni.
Can't imagine this day being any better than the other days. |
Today's vote goes to Shin.
|
Debates rage long into the afternoon, but the issue of whom to hang seems unresolvable. Both Shin and Denicalis seem to be equally hated.
Then, a figure draped in a gorgeous cape asks for a moment of the crowd's attention. "Friends, we are all agreed that both these men are super evil and should totally be murdered to the extreme. However, is it not also true that Denicalis is just the worst guy ever and also probably some kind of demon? Plus I think I saw him stealing some of your lunches. Also, he beat a nun to death on the steps of a church. With a folding chair. This is documented fact." With that, the crowd turns on Denicalis en masse, tearing him limb from limb rather than affording him the dignity of the gallows. Alas, when all is said and done it seems that Denicalis was just an innocent peasant as he claimed. He had no possessions. Votes: Shin / / / / / Denicalis / / / / / / (Cloak used.) With only two peasants and a bard left to oppose Orcus, does the town have any hope? Worse, the werewolf is on the loose again! Perhaps the evil factions will turn on each other. It's not impossible. Shut up. Night 4 ends in 48 hours. Players (9 surviving): nuttyturnip Zergrinch Chaotic Tritoch knkwzrd Hawkeye Shin ZiggyGo a lurker Roles: 2 peasants 2 DEAD peasants (Rockgamer, Denicalis) 1 DEAD cleric (Frank) 1 DEAD guard (Skills) 1 serial killer 1 doppelganger 1 twitchy recluse 1 DEAD fighter (Garr) 1 DEAD wizard (Diss) 1 bard 1 vampire lord 1 DEAD abductor (LZ) 1 necromancer 1 werewolf (Zerg) (Cloak used.) |
I told you morons they were evil. You watch when the game is over, I'll be spot on right with every accusation.
|
Oh well, game and set for Orcus.
I sent in a kill against someone I think is undeniably Vecna or Orcus, so let's see what happens. |
Actually, let's remove this note and replace it with some pie.
Mmm, pie. http://www.extension.umn.edu/yardand...d%20Peirce.jpg |
Wand triggered that quickly? Twitchy owner!
Here I was thinking I'm the first to send off a night action :( |
Haha, oops. Sorry Deni. :(

As twilight settles over the town, the unique sound of a ricocheting Magic Missile begins to echo all over the city. It can't be said for sure who was caught in the crossfire, but on a night where three killers are feared to be on the loose things are relatively bloodless.
Relatively. There's no body in Chaotic's private chambers at the temple of Vecna, but there is a man-shaped pile of ash with the symbol of Orcus smeared into what used to be a torso. He was a Vampire Lord! None can say if any of his progeny might survive to avenge him. Someone quietly shakes the ashes out of Chaotic's Boots of Speed and hurries on their way. tl;dr Chaotic dead (vampire), Wand broken, boots moved Day 4 ends in 48 hours. Alright Orcus, that was the last straw. You messed with the wrong temple. Here's the deal people, I'm tired of sitting back and watching Orcus edge closer to victory while you town people target the wrong people during the day.
Allow me to introduce myself. I'm the Necromancer, the final Vecna. Howdy. We've known all of your roles since Day 2, but honestly I'll never figure out where all the remaining items I need are before Orcus wins this thing. LZ's death all but guaranteed that. So instead, I'm going to tell you who everybody is. knkwzrd - Serial Killer ZiggyGo - Twitchy Recluse Hawkeye - Doppelganger Shin - Bard Nuttyturnip - Villager A Lurker - Villager And of course, Zergrinch is the Werewolf. Did I just blow your mind? |
You didn't blow my mind but you ruined the rest of the game.
|
I debated on that, but my team's primary focus is information. It may as well be used as a weapon to take down Orcus now that I'm 90% positive that I won't be able to find the remaining items.
|
So why didn't you guys go for two kills on night 1?

So, I was wrong about Shin and Lurker on one count. Not teammates. However, still both stupid.

Team Orcus is in no position to know everyone's roles by Day 2. Plus, other than game ruining, there doesn't seem to be any objection from knk. I trust the role information for you and lurker is accurate? :3:
|
Who's to say that Tritoch isn't the twitchy recluse and knk has the elven chainmail? We lynch knk, learning his role but he's not killed. We then all believe Tritoch is telling the truth and you, in an attempt to secure victory for yourself go after knk again at night meaning you're home free until whoever has the sword chooses to kill you with it.
Hmm, that makes no sense though because if knk had the sword and wanted to kill you, he would have done so by now. Assuming Tritoch is telling the truth, he needs to learn the locations of all the items to win, you need to kill everyone to win, Knk, Ziggy and Hawkeye need to kill either me, lurker or Nutty to win, lurks and Nutty need to kill everyone else to win and I need to amass all the items. At this point, unless the serial killer is lynched today everyone else is basically fucked. To be honest Zerg, you've lost already since someone out there has the sword and knows your role. Your only chance is for whoever has the sword to get killed by someone other than you each night so you actually need the serial killer alive until last. The bard needs you alive to keep killing people and increasing the chances of random loot dropping into his lap. The necromancer needs to stay alive and have someone from team Vecna die so he can commune with them and learn what their team knows. The more I think about this, the more it looks like the most beneficial move all round is actually to lynch Tritoch so that's my final vote. |
As much fun as it would be to lynch Tritoch, the proper course of action at this juncture is to take out the serial killer. That means knkwzrd gets my vote.
|
You're overthinking it Shin. Taking out the Serial Killer still leaves the Doppelganger with his nightly killing role. If you lynch Tritoch and spare knk, Orcus will just kill you and one townie tonight, and that's that.

Well obviously I'm voting for Tritoch.

You mean that exchange between me and the guy who was clearly protecting the fact he had the silver sword? And who deliberately misquoted the rules to try and misdirect? Something anyone could see if they paid attention? Clever. http://aidanmoher.com/blog/wp-conten...y-goodkind.jpg |

And of course we're still assuming Tritoch isn't making shit up as he goes along. I'm still in favour of lynching Tritoch and taking my chances at night. |
Well, I'm up for lynching Tritoch. Besides, as Zergrinch said, if what Tritoch said about the roles of the serial killer is true, there's a 50/50 percent chance the doppelganger will die in his place, and if not, he retains the role of the serial killer when the true serial killer dies. In the end, there is still going to be a killer on the loose.
|
Quote:
Shin, your proof that I'm not just making shit up is that I named your role correctly. That's why I didn't just say who belonged to Orcus. You're also assuming that I don't already know everything Orcus has got. Besides, you already spelled it out yourself. If you lynch knkwzrd then there's that small gamble that Orcus has knowledge I need to win the game. If you lynch me then Orcus gets both kills and they've pretty much won. Not much of a choice, really. EDIT: Also, I'm not entirely sure if the Doppelganger will be able to retain Serial Killer powers or not. He either copied someone else last night or he was foiled by the wand. |
Shin. I might add that obviously all Orcus people will vote against Tritoch for sure. With your vote change, we have reached another impasse. Do you wish to let the cloak holder settle things again, Shin? Especially when it wasn't used in Day 1, Hawkeye had no vote on Day 1. Coincidence maybe, but...
If Tritoch hangs and he told us the truth, then Team Orcus has two kills. They can cherry-pick between you (since you're unlynchable) and either lurker or turnip. The next day, it's just 1 townie and myself, against the Orcus team. Winning should be terribly easy then even if they don't have the sword - lynch me by majority vote, kill the townie at night, then victory. Does it matter if Vecna wins the game? Their victory doesn't include elimination of the other parties like Orcus, Town, or Werewolf. Thus not mutually exclusive. If Tritoch wins, so what? I don't lose. Neither do you. Same deal with you winning. I don't lose if you win. Heck, I don't lose if Orcus wins either. Maybe I'm backing the wrong horse. P.S. Any idea on the Vampire Lord candidates, Tritoch? :) |
The way I feel about it, Orcus had the game in the bag due to the mechanics of the game. So, what would be just is if we don't allow Orcus to win.
|
Voting for Tritoch.
|
So we've got the 3 people who Tritoch says are from Orcus voting for Tritoch, plus Shin.
Stop being a stubborn Brit, Shin. |
Ah fuck it, I'd rather see Vecna win than Orcus I guess and the chances of me winning are long, long dead. Changing my vote back to knkwzrd.
|
the fuck it whatever approach:
Hey zerg, the townies need you dead to win. We don't. Tritoch is not going to win at this point regardless, so fuck him. Kill Tritoch now, we'll all come out of the closet together as the evil bastards we are, and we'll rule the town with an iron fist. Yeah, we could just not kill tritoch and try to lynch a villager today, but that doesn't really embody a serial killer, does it? Total domination, you and me, baby, etc. |
Well if that's how it's going to be, Zerg, I've kept you alive so far. Admittedly just so you can kill people and I can try to grab their gear when they die but I don't need to kill you to win the game. Sure, you can't technically win whilst I'm alive but once I'm done looting the place I'm happy to walk away and leave you to your fate.
|
Way I see it, I can't be the last survivor. Best I can hope is to survive until the end, when someone claims victory.
Adventurer, I have no reason to target you, especially if your victory condition hinges on collecting all the items. If you indeed have the sword and don't intend to use it, I am even more motivated to keep you hale and hearty. Vecna, I have nothing you want or need. It does seem that you and the Adventurer can band together to win, however, since if you're the last two standing, then you obviously know where all the items are. I have no reason to target you either. Orcus, the easiest way for me to survive is to sit idle and do nothing. What assurance have I that the three of you will not turn on me the next day? Townies, I have the strongest motivation to kill you, since one of you (Denicalis) has already expressed a strong desire to eliminate me. However, you don't need to kill the werewolf. Neutralizing him will do. Lynching me every day will do just that. I have said previously that I'm throwing in my lot with the town, but team Orcus makes an interesting offer. What say you all? |
Orcus' interesting offer is that they're ridiculously overpowered and have been since the very first night. Helping them win is basically like turning the switch to a laser rifle to the on position. It's not much fun, is what I'm saying.
|
Tritoch presents his findings, and people immediately turn on the most dangerous suspect. There was no way this Day was going to end without knkwzrd dying. An unused pair of Burglar's Gloves drop out of his pocket as he thrashes on the rope.
Things look a little better for Town, but the Werewolf has just been provided with a list of targets and the Doppelganger is more than happy to be a furry as well. Will the wielder of the sword act quickly enough to end the terror before it's too late? Almost certainly not. Night... 5? Ends in 48 hours, provided Orcus hasn't clinched the win by then. Players (7 surviving): nuttyturnip Zergrinch Tritoch Hawkeye Shin ZiggyGo a lurker Roles: 2 peasants 2 DEAD peasants (Rockgamer, Denicalis) 1 DEAD cleric (Frank) 1 DEAD guard (Skills) 1 DEAD serial killer (knkwzrd) 1 doppelganger 1 twitchy recluse 1 DEAD fighter (Garr) 1 DEAD wizard (Diss) 1 bard 1 DEAD vampire lord (Chaotic) 1 DEAD abductor (LZ) 1 necromancer 1 werewolf (Zerg) |
As night falls, a werewolf foolishly breaks into ZiggyGo's house. He is met at the door with a hail of crossbow bolts. Zergrinch limps back to his lair; he won't be voting for a while.
The bearer of the Silver Sword sets out at last to slay the werewolf, only to have a werewolf lunge at him of its own accord! The beast is easily slain by the holy power of the blade, but it is only Hawkeye's body that is found rotting in the streets come morning. With the murderous threat of Orcus forever broken, ZiggyGo alone is no real danger to the town. It would take the Vecnite necromancer or the visiting bard ages to pick up the pieces, and it's only a matter of waiting for evening before the sword can be finally put to its proper use. Game Called: Victory for Town. Thanks for playing, guys. I know I fucked up the team balance in a lot of ways and some of your roles became useless after a while. I honestly didn't notice the doppelganger/serial killer synergy until it was too late, and half of the items never got used at all. But we hadn't had one of these for a while and I thought it was time, even if I barely knew what the fuck I was doing. Thanks for your patience. |
Fuck YES, Town.
Also, Pang, it had its balance issues but as always? A lot of fun. Much obliged. |
It would be great if you can provide a list of actions, Pang :)
No need to apologize for balance issues, Pang. You stated as much in your opening post. We knew what we were getting into, and it was good to have another game of Werewolf after so long. P.S. I totally thought I'd be able to kill ZiggyGo as per the way we usually implement Survivalists. Didn't realize he was immune to night time death :( These were my calculations for Night 4: ZiggyGo killed by me. Lurker or Turnip killed by Hawkeye Either me or Hawkeye killed by Shin Day 5: Shin and Lurker/Turnip team up to lynch Tritoch Lurker gives all items to Shin Shared victory for Adventurers and Town |
Like Deni said, balance issues aside it was nice to finally have another Werewolf game. I think one of the biggest problems was how the Adventurers were completely crippled if the Fighter died. Things worked well enough for the most part, though.
As for Vecna's status, I was still missing the locations of 4 items plus I had been like 90% certain that Shin had the Silver Sword. I still needed the Cloak of Max Charisma, the Eye of Vecna, the Boots of Speed, and the Symbol of Pelor. Chaotic and LZ had owned two of those and we'd found the Eye of Vecna on Deni the night he used it. Oh, and I had the Elven Chainmail hence why I wasn't very concerned about being lynched yesterday. I still had the Elixir of Dragon's Breath as back-up too. I hope Pang wasn't pissed about me revealing all the roles, but he probably guessed what I was planning when I PMed him asking if the chainmail would protect me from hanging and he seemed cool with it. |

O Shin you

I think you've got the items a bit mixed up, Pang. Knkwzrd's ghost said that Lurker took the Gloves.

Nope, I got the gloves last night (I forgot to use them).
A big fist bump to Lurker for watching her fellow townsperson's back on Night 4. |
I'm just lolling that my predictions were way off. Owned.
Also I was pretty po'd about the massive imbalance but honestly it was still fun playing, especially when they didn't win in the end. Good job everybody! |

http://www.belkanairforce.com/deni/1280301788634.gif YOU MONSTER. |
In retrospect, maybe handing all of our items to the guy on our team with the chainmail would have been a good idea.
|
I thought about suggesting it a few times, but it also seemed like a dick move to ask you both to give me all your stuff. :(
Boots of Speed were more useful on Chaotic than they ever would've been on me too. |
I'm glad Team Overpowered didn't win. Though, still very curious why you guys didn't doppelganger an extra kill the first night.
As mentioned, the biggest problem with the Rainbow Warriors was as soon as Garr died we were basically ruined. Unfortunately for us, Garr and myself both work during the day, and Shin's in Europe, so almost all of our actions were always at the bottom of the pile. I think in the future doing sequential resolutions could work, but only if the submissions were randomized or something beforehand. Normal people just can't compete with the F5 Brigade. It was cool to see one of these run again, so thanks for taking the reins, Pang. One thing I'd been discussing with Lurker was how it's kind of a drag how we never play any of the older game scenarios any more. Some of them were really cool, but I guess everyone feels that once someone creates a rule set it's sort of "theirs" and nobody else feels comfortable running it. Well, here's an easy solution: Crash is a gaywad, but that anything-goes game he ran a while back was pretty fun. He's obviously not around anymore to feel like I'm stepping on his toes by jacking his rules, and even if he was, fuck him, I do what I want. Do you guys want to play another iteration of that? |
YES I DO.
|
How could anyone say no to another game of Werewolf?
|
You refer to Werewolf 15, right? Not sure if you can get even half the number of players, but I'm always game for Werewolf.
Would actually prefer something more structured, with a clearly-identifiable good and evil side (since I'm like chaotic neutral here). But eh, any is better than none. |

I'm in if you do it but whatever you do, do it quickly before ennui cuts the player pool in half again.

Definitely up for another game of Werewolf.
And jeez, EVERYONE was after me on Night Four. :gonk: Also: Quote:

I'll go scope out the after party for that game when I get home tonight and see if I can address some of the criticisms people had; I know I had a couple as well, then I'll throw up a sign-up thread (which perhaps will buy me time to make up a setting that is at least reasonably interesting).
|
Was it Crash that ran the anything goes game? I was thinking Rockgamer did that, but maybe he just threw out the idea first. Either way, I'm up for Werewolf regardless of whether we go structured or not.

Good game Pang, yeah the teams were way lopsided, but it was still fun. Too bad i ran afoul of the silver sword, otherwise the game might have been a little closer, but meh. Diss, i'd give a little time between games. Too much werewolf can lead to no one caring by the end of the game. |
Ignore Hawkeye.
GAME ON. |
Yeah, I'd be in for another right away.
|
Yeah, strike while the iron is hot. There were plenty of people who died in this game and didn't get the "full" experience, so I'm sure they'd like to get going again.

let's do it

But yeah, I'm definitely up for more Werewolf...or any Werewolf, since I didn't get to actually do anything this time around (some testing thread buddy you turned out to be, knk). |

Shows what i know. I'm in, let's do this.

I enjoyed that game, despite our team being basically fucked from when Garr got killed. The only chance we had at that point was for Zerg to kill people and us pick up what loot they dropped. Obviously I didn't want Zerg to get lynched every day as that was no good to us at all. I picked Deni completely at random to go after and with hindsight, when nobody really jumped to his defence I should have realised he was a villager. Still, although we didn't win, I did survive the game and that last night turn-around from certain evil victory to a good team victory was awesome. I'm glad Tritoch announced everyone's roles as it gave us something to plan about rather than sitting waiting for death. I'm bang up for another game, bring it on. |
