When Link raises the Skyward Sword, players can actually hear him scream "I HAVE THE POWER" through the Wii remote's speaker

Okay, I don't even know what to say about Kirby's Epic Yarn.

FatsDomino Jun 15, 2010 12:22 PM

Kirby's Epic Yarn is the new Yoshi's Island. Calling it right here.

Chaotic Jun 15, 2010 12:28 PM

Oh my god.

Sony doesn't have shit on Nintendo. They set the bar so high with this conference.

I'm legit excited for the 3DS now.

Also, can I get a picture of that creepy Reggie laugh during that video?

SailorDaravon Jun 15, 2010 12:37 PM

-Zelda looks cool, although kinda janky. I guess we'll find out shortly with the hands on people are getting right now if it was just interference problems or not.
-Mario Sports Mix could be cool I guess?
-Golden Sun looks fine.
-Kirby looks fucking badass
-I am eating crow on Epic Mickey, I thought it looked like shit in the GI reveal, but it looks awesome now.
-Could care less about Goldeneye and DKC, but they look fine.
-That entire 3DS Iwata/Miyamoto/Reggie video is so unbelievably ripe for .gifs
-3DS looks sexy, and that stable of games/franchises coming to it could be ballin' (new RE, MGS, Professor Layton, Saints Row wtf)
-I actually have never cared about Kid Icarus (and still don't), but I do think it's kinda funny that they actually finally did one. Most importantly graphically it looks good; almost or on par with a Wii game, and that's for a 3DS game. So I'm more interested in the fact that if that's a realistic benchmark, I am totally hyped for play games on the 3DS that have wii-level capable graphics.

All in all this was miles better than last year's show; minimal sales and casual talk, no Carrie, no Vitality Sensor. I am legitimately hyped for the 3DS now.

Well, the press conference was nice and all, but there were still something I found was missing from it all.

They've been working hard on franchises like Mario (2 Super Mario Galaxy titles in a 2-year span, 3 sports-related Mario titles in the past 4 years), Zelda (2 Wii Zelda titles in a 5-year span), and they've just revived Donkey Kong and Kirby, but at the same time...

It's been 6 years since the last release of an F-Zero title, you know, back on GAMECUBE and GBA!! Also, a bit over 5 years for a new "console" Star Fox title. It's been rumored and "interested in" for 3 years now.

I was seriously hoping 2010 would be the year we got an announcement on one, or the other, or both.

Best Nintendo E3 press event in years. I think Epic Mickey could be amazing.

Philia Jun 15, 2010 01:05 PM

Yeah, I saw this with SD and agreed its a good show. Lots of titles for me to get excited about. Kirby in particular. I have massive love for Yoshi's Story.

But I'm frankly worried about the 3DS line up. It just looking like a bunch of Wii ports.

But it's portable Wii ports.

PORTABLE WII.

Sousuke Jun 15, 2010 01:33 PM

And it [so far] looks like the graphics are BETTER than the Wii's. Also Star Fox:

SailorDaravon Jun 15, 2010 01:43 PM

Yeah there's screens out for most of the 3DS games on that list, and graphics on almost all of them look really good, at least Wii-level if not better. I'm genuinely impressed.

Sonic-Dude Jun 15, 2010 01:58 PM

I believe that Nintendo has stolen the show at this year's E3.

They blew me away when they brought out the 3DS and the Zelda along with the huge games like the GoldenEye remake and Epic Mickey. Yet, I wished that the remake had the original 90s Bond, not Craig.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Jun 15, 2010 02:31 PM

The games look pretty enough but Wii graphics don't exactly take much beating. The 3DS looks like a fun gadget but I do hope it's not just endless rehashes of old IPs, although saying that I'll probably buy one just for Starfox.

I was quite disappointed by the Epic Mickey stuff, I was hoping for something really dark whereas that just looks like a cheesy platformer.

SailorDaravon Jun 15, 2010 02:59 PM

Ocarina of Time 3DS confirmed : The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3DS Remake Confirmed
Why didn't they show any of this shit at the conference??

I agree that it's not dark from the currant gameplay video, but hopefully will see more of what we want from this game in the coming months ahead. I believe Spector leave us hanging without adding the darker stuff from the previous concept arts.

PS: the 2nd gameplay of Dead Space 2 looks more freakin scarier than the first game. It's a-must-by for me that's for sure.

Stealing from a bunch of blind, retarded, possibly dead mooks doesn't make you a master thief; it just means you barely qualify as high-functioning.

The Plane Is A Tiger Jun 15, 2010 04:54 PM

Damn, that is a really nice list for the 3DS. At this point I figured we could safely give up on Nintendo ever releasing another PilotWings title. Kid Icarus and Chocobo Racing are pretty exciting too. It's kind of odd to see SMT: Devil Survivor on the list, though. Wonder if they're turning it into its own side series or they're actually remaking a recent DS game into 3D.

I guess de Blob is going multiplatform for its sequel since I saw it announced for PS3 yesterday. I'll be happy as long as jumping is set to a button instead of motion control so it can be more accurate this time. Checkpoints so that levels don't take an hour and a half would also be nice.

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Jun 16, 2010 01:03 AM

Let's not forget Paper Mario. I was worried it was just a port of the original (since I've played that one too many times), but the screens show it is definitely new:

PUT ON THE GLASSES, DARAVON

OmagnusPrime Jun 16, 2010 01:10 PM

3DS is a definite must buy. I've loved the shit out of my DS since day one and I'm convinced this is going to be at least as good as a handheld with all the obvious improvements. Plus the list of games so far looks pretty fab. Definitely getting me one of those, just hoping we don't get screwed release date wise in Europe.

I'm sure I'll jump on the 3DS bandwagon sooner rather than later (I bought a DS a few months after launch in spite of its lackluster library), but I'm not seeing a ton of exciting games. Other than Kid Icarus, it seems like most of it is just updated ports of older Nintendo titles.

Fuck Golden Sun. When are Camelot and Sega going to kiss and make up so we can have Shining Force IV?

No. Hard Pass. Jun 16, 2010 10:03 PM

How about we finally just get around to Shining Force III getting finished?

Kolba Jun 16, 2010 10:05 PM

I think the fanbase has that one covered.
