- 3D Stick - vibration pack - tilt sensor under decision - wireless connection speed up - battery life up - smaller than 4" screen Inteeeeeeeeeeeeresting, not what I was expecting. If it actually works well that's pretty neat though. |
I am skeptical on who wants to strain their eyes by staring at tiny 3D screens. But I guess we'll see.
|
I am interested to see if the Virtual Boy will be fully realized as it should have been. Would Gunpei Yokoi be proud?

More rumored details from Nikkei (credit to neo2046 for the translation):

Well this just made the DSi XL even more pointless to get. I'm curious to see how this is going to work without 3D glasses.
|
Kotaku posted this as a possible idea for what the 3D could be:
This is a DSiWare game out in Japan that uses motion tracking with the camera. I adore the idea of 3D being done this way as opposed to completely popping out at you, so I'd be very curious to see what Nintendo brings to the table. |

I know that i occasionally try to move my head to see things in a game when the camera isn't responding like i want it to. it would be downright freaky if it actually worked.
|
Sounds like a headache waiting to happen. It is a bit surprising though. Didn't think it would get a push for portable gaming so soon.
|
What is a 3D Joystick, and how can this buzzword make it any different from a standard analog joystick?
|
Maybe a pressure sensitive joystick? Kind of like how the Dual Shock has the pressure sensitivity on the normal face buttons and whatnot.
|
You are all thinking too low tech, it's clearly holograms.
|
I think "3D joystick" just meant that it'd have an analogue stick (presumably PSP style, I dunno).
Screens will be parallax barrier displays — think lenticular movie posters. It'll work beautifully because you don't need to worry about people viewing the screen at extreme angles when you're talking about a handheld. |
Aren't cell phones with different kinds of 3D well underway also? I don't know what type of 3D technology the 3DS will sport, but my guess is the cheapest. So they can make moar money!

Holograms? Psh!
It'll be stereoscopic, y'all: http://imgur.com/0w1A8.jpg Finally a use for that skill! |
That works better for porn.
So I've been told... |
Had to dig up this thread, but aside from Phoenix Wright vs Professor Layton the greatest idea since oxygen, I've been meaning to post this for a couple weeks, but they're remaking the now second-greatest game ever to the greatest platform ever:

Also, Term, there's been no talk about Layton vs. Wright since the last Capcom fan poll. What's this all about, now? |
Ask Capcom, Mo0.
Luke, did NIS really take the reins on bringing it statewide? Skills, just following up on what Luke mentioned, that's all. |
Capcom wants you to join their fansites and spam tons of stuff if you want hope that the game will ever see American soil.
They haven't even started on the fourth game yet. I can't comment on whether or not it would come over, but they would prefer people join Capcom Unity and discuss the possibilities! Similar situations going on with SSF4 AE and MvC3 DLC. |
Lace is exactly correct.
SSF4 Arcade though....haven't they gone on record for saying that's fuck all at this point? Quote:
Still no idea what you're talking about re: Layton x Gyakuten though because there's been no word on that. |
Cave Story 3DS looks pretty ass-tastic at this point though. I hope they severely change up the character design they showed off in the trailer.
|
I joined Unity to vote in the MML3 character design poll.
Why anyone would want to see AE on a console I'll never understand. Wasting two character additions to mugen original do not steal recolors is just plain insulting. |
I know the next installment of Layton is scheduled to be released in America, but I guess I missed the memo on them region-locking the system. Balls.
|
Really? When is Professor Layton and the Specter's Flute coming out stateside?

That and the achievements were already shown on the 360 version in a leak, before the game even hit arcades. Everyone called it fake because Evil Ryu and Oni Akuma had no place in the game at all, then they turned out to be in the game. A while ago Seth Killian told MTV (lol) that one of the lowest points in his life has to have been when certain people are leaking information about games that are either still in development (referring to SSF4 AE) or just released (MvC3), because it puts a big strain on relationships between the company and its fans. |

That would be pretty ass, considering they've gone on record stating they will release the entire Layton prequel trilogy in English.
Maybe we'll hear something at E3. |
Nintendo had my money for this the instant Mega Man Legends 3 was announced.
Already got mine pre-ordered. |
How's everyone's street pass plaza's filling out?
I've managed to get 13 or 14 unique people with a handful of duplicates that I bumped into every day at class, so I think I have a total of 19 tags or so, and amassed about 10 at once on Friday. Anyone else have any luck? Gotten anything super bizarre? |
I've got 10 characters in my plaza. I got 4 tags on Friday from the 3DS booth set up outside my office (I looked like a total stalker standing outside their booth in the rain three different times). All those were labeled as NY, and gave me Pikmin pieces, which were new to me. Otherwise, I've tagged a few on trips to EB, and a grand total of 2 randoms (oddly enough, on the same day, but at different times). My building is heavily trafficked by tourists/kids, as are the alternate food court where I eat lunch and Union Station. I'm hoping that once tourist season picks up and/or the market gets more saturated with 3DSes that I'll get more tags.
I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't have a friend/family member with a 3DS, because Find Mii gets impossible if you don't have a leveled-up Mii. |
I got a duplicate. It asked me what I thought of him and I was like "You're okay." and he frowned and skulked off. Then I had him go fight ghosts after he gave me a Metroid Other M puzzle piece.

Nintendo 3DS eShop is coming June 6th.

It has been reported the browser doesn't support flash but quite honestly I would only recommend doing simple things on this browser anyway. You know, like looking up FAQs and general browsing and stuff.
|
After using Flash on my Droid, I can firmly say that this thing not having Flash is a good thing. Portable devices are not ready for Flash yet.
|
Got 16 different people so far. I usually have more luck if I go to the Eaton Center, getting 1 or 2 every time I go there. I guess it's because it's a tourist area. It's rare, but I sometimes get them on the way home from work and I never get any on the way to work. Only once have I ever met a fellow Nintendogs player though. Guess it's not too popular.
Finding Mii isn't that hard at all without family members with 3DS's. Lots of level 1 heroes have magics that strengthen the next hero so level 1 heroes can become level 2 heroes and so on. I hired 135 or so heroes so far and I am currently on the second last room. P.S. I'm hoping Revenge of the Gator comes to the eShop. Update: I don't like doubleposting either. Anyway, just for the update today. I think the Pokedex app is pretty cool. I actually like the 3D models this time around after the horrid ones in those Stadium games, Machamp especially. |
